It's a bathesda game, I'm not sure why everyone expected it to be so much more than that
I think we keep thinking Bethesda would eventually learn from their past failures.. but I guess they know it doesn't matter. Like I would've thought that after all of the fallout from Fallout's inventory issues from each game.. they'd spend some time with actually hiring a ui developer to build a good inventory management system. but nah.. why spend the money when modders will fix it for free.
Maybe I'll change my expectations when they stop using the creation engine lol
VERY True.
Is that their proprietary engine for them? Or just a lesser used engine?
Yeah it's their own in-house engine. Was good when they first made it, but at this point I think they're just using it out of habit
The thing is: I can feel here with Vapok. I play WoW too (had me constantly on the hook for the last ehrm... 14 Years I guess.) but I can't really stand DOS2 & BG3, may be the turn based combat, may be that my friends make everything a slog in fights or spoiler themselves & just predate the campaign then... I just played Divinity through and was like "Yea... Won't do that again." Character Builds etc. were cool & good, but I guess the problem is more that I just have no big interest in getting the info where I get the best set, what I've to do for it, et cetera. My friends for record already cheesed the burning blade in the 1. real fight & everything else they can get their hands on in BG3. Dunno, I would be just talking with NPCs and look what the story is up to... But for me the system of "You miss something if you rest" is smth that just grinds my gears. And, dunno why, but open world Diablo IV was - at least for me - a hard failure... Didn't even do the main story and that'll mean something.
iunno I don't think you miss anything if you rest
there is to my knowledge one thing that happens on a timer, in act 3, and so requires you to look into it sooner rather than later (and did require me to reload an earlier save at some point, that was indeed annoying), but that's it. Except for the resources spent to feed your gang
If I remember correctly, after 2 rests the druids will have performed their ritual and so on... There were occassions where you'd miss out on things, but don't get me to name them, BG3 does not really take many memory in my personal brain-ram. If you like BG3: More power to you, I'm glad for you, for me... nah. It won't click. Valheim for example has stolen me 2k hours. ๐
oh I must have lucked out on that front because I solved that issue first I guess?
Yeah Valheim has soaked up quite a few hours myself. It has the right balance of 3rd perspective, exploration, danger/survival, bulid/crafting, and at least for me, the added benefit of being able to mod it.
What i loved most about Enshrouded Closed Beta was that.. ALL of those itches that Valheim scratched, were handled with Enshrouded. Except the modding one, but it's too early, and for the most part, I am a purist when it comes to games. I feel games should be played (at least through the first play through) without mods and as the developers intended it. Then, once you've experienced the developer's vision for the game.. adding mods allows variability for replays over and over. But I was thoroughly satisfied with the closed beta.. even with all of it's roughness.
In the forums of BG3 is a thread about missable events, if you're interested CUB. But opinions seem to differ, some say rest as often as you want, some say you'll miss out on things...
I'm actually doing a bit of a RPG with my friends, because they get bored fast. They're not into that much of "traveling" and want more to "fight" for their equipment et cetera, so I've build an arena where I'll get them to challenge enemies up to starred ones, after which they get a prize money. With that money they can buy the actual "tier" for the biome, we're in from me. ๐
Mines etc. are build by me, where I've made short-events like scenarios in wow, where they must escort a cart to the mine with the ressources, or withstand invasions within the mine, or defeat the big baddie making this cave his home.
sounds fun
Oh, I was getting creative with that. For example had we Draugr taking over our base after we were fighting with bonemass. From what I can say, one of my party had nearly a heart attack. ๐
One rule of cool was, shut every door before you leave. Or I'll spawn bats/skeletons inside your house. ๐
you think my dwellings have doors???
How do you get home?
you jump over the moat after running like Yagluth itself is after you
which is exactly the reason i hate the base raids
because stone walls should do this trick
yeah but a troll with a log will eat through stone.
but no, stone walls are about as sturdy as gingerbread
yeah, but it should not be like that
I spent some time building a stone wall with an iron mesh on the front. definitely slowed down troll attacks.. but then on another play through. I decided to just find a hill and then carve out a plateu with a ditch around the back.. seemed to work great for base raids. The only thing they'd attack was my bottom opening where my boar and lox pen was, which was pretty well honeycombed to allow some time.
Except for bats.
The Bat attack is real.
I'm working on a mod that also changes how bats work.. and makes them a bit more difficult, and drops bloodbags.
This is what bothers me about the raids. in Thousands of years of human history, walls have been prime defense number one against enemies without siege equipment. Cue game developers thinking "hey, lets make these walls fluffy, that makes sense"
Yeah I had a chicken coop that I thought was well protected.. but it had a chimney... for the fire pit that I was using to keep the chickens warm. And a bat attack showed up.. and went down the chimney.. and killed all of the chickens.
Well, one "Event" I have made with my party is for example that when we put harvester into Yggdrasil-Wood, every 2 mins seeker show up, so we have to stay and defend there. Even Invasions or Gjalls.
About the Stone-Wall topic: Normally, Enemies won't notice you... But the problem is, at night, enemies from different biomes do spawn in - who are at war with each other and trigger the "Hunt" or "Aggressive"-Mode... and then they instantly knew where the player is hiding, won't come in to him and attack fiercly everything in their way. It's more a faction problem in Valheim, than a problem about the raids itself.
i mean, there are enough ways to make raids interesting without having useless stone walls
That's one thing that I think Valheim got right.... Was faction aggression. It's awesome sneaking up on skellies fighting the grey's..
if your base is near the water the mobs will wade into it and try to swim up rocks or something, and effectively just bathe in there for a while
Defending a water base is really hard I've found.
You have to build out so far into the water.. which is doable...
jup. trolls just go through the water ๐
but.. time consuming.
you'd think vikings would learn how to swim better too.. but swimming is like... dangerous. lol
not even that, just being against it
they're like "oh cool shortcut"
cue swimming lesson
lol
maybe that only worked for the enemies attacking from a specific angle, I'm not sure their pathfinding is so deep
The swamp mobs definitely have some kind of improved water /swimming skill.. as they can wade out pretty far from shore.
I mean, there would be 3 ways to solve the "Issue" about mobs just mindlessly attacking walls:
- Enemies need to notice the player himself and cannot do that if he is behind a wall (Palisade, Stone, et cetera) - problem is, Aggressive-Stance is the same as the "Hunt Mode" used in Invasions...
- Making stone walls way tankier, but that would cause problems because you could just wall off bosses or enemies forever and bow them down. (Trust me, that're tactics already in use)
- Or... make enemies join factions, at least in the night, so they just team up against the player at nights and won't join hunt mode so fast as now.
the thing is: Swamp enemies don't do swimming, they're running through water... they cannot swim ๐
lol
Ever seen a floating skeleton? Me not ๐
maybe if the skeleton has osteoporosis
Well I guess, the problem is more of... no air in organs, like... lungs.
Pirates of the Caribbean proved Skeletons do not float.
the just need the bones to have lower density than water. Easy!
Floating skeletons in Enshrouded when?
Hey now..
We first gotta give them time to add water. My guess is... there's some lore we don't know about where all the water was evaporated and turned into Shroud.
the lore does mention the water evaporating iirc
which raises interesting questions about the water cycle
I guess that would need something whats boiling the water underground or... well. Eventually the spores do hinder water being liquid or absorb them. Eventually the shrooms do soak up all water?
IT makes sense... but also.. the pockets that allow the water wells raises more questions.
We also found out that if you dig far enough down.. you get into Enshrouded areas.. which to me is like the "water table" level.. but if you continue digging you get under it. We built a base on the bottom.
And for the record: I meant it funny when I asked for floating skeletons. That doesn't even need water, they could just fly through the air or air walk.
moonwalk, maybe?
Oh man.. that just gave me an idea.. attaching gliders to the Vulkari.. Flying Ewoks is the vision that has popped into my head.
They walk from one side of the night sky to the other - backwards! Doing awkward sounds.
Our character swims like some kind of instant coffee powder that melts when it hits water.
At least it swims, unlike New World, where you have gravity boots and the instant you're underwater, you are dead in 2 seconds... .lol.. Meanwhile, you can jump off the highest cliff and not be permanently melted to the ground.
Like. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
san andreas the npcs cant swim either
that would cause rain...
If water does not evaporate
And there is no natural rain cycle...
Perhaps an extraplanar entity or force could see the pitiful realm and make a sort of one-way-cycle as a means of humor. Laughing at our inability to maintain a balanced ecosystem. Perhaps the shroud is even part of it.
Something like:
"Hey, yawl really can't keep a planet alive. It's pathetic really. Here's the trade. We're gonna give you rain. And inexchange, you'll also get this little....Shroud we've wanted to test. Two for the price of one eh?"
We need a RPG survival game + a real MMO
this small servers like Valhein is not good. The game is dead already
okay
Same as the amazing Vrising. It is dead already
'tis better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all
Yes
I agree
But they could revive the game
By changing to be a real MMO
Where we can came back every other day
Kind of another case of people overestimating the dev team to be honest, though I don't necessarily blame the players for that. Stunlock is not very big though, according to wikipedia only 30 or so employees
not every game wants or needs to be a game-as-a-service, I think
Real big MMO + surviving game would be nice
Most MMO scale projects have hundreds if not thousands of employees touching it in one way or another
That is fine
I am not blaming the team
I am just mentioned this is the game that is not avaialable
This is the missing peace
Aiming for that could be hudge
I don't think "trying to make an MMO in 2023" is a viable route for most developers
any* probably lol
sure, there are still MMOs around. Are most MMOs viable projects to undertake, though? We've seen enough try and fail, even at their heyday in the late 00s and early 2010s
I think the next successful MMO needs to change the formula quite a bit, the wow-like genre of mmo clearly is not working
albion is the only one I know that has done well, and lo and behold they did something pretty unique. The only similar game is eve
All I want for christmas is for another studio to take a crack at an MMO-FPS like planetside 2
I would say EVE is "successful" only insofar as the fact that they stay in their lane. They have a niche audience and they cater to it. When they tried to expand with Dust_514 and Eve Valkyrie, neither game worked out at all
their userbase is like, actually really small
paying userbase I mean
yeah I'd honestly say albion has been more successful than eve just because it feels even remotely accessible
I don't understand how eve is pulling in ANY new players, that game has the most insane new user experience I've ever seen
an upcoming MMO is Fratured Veil, will be getting into EA soon
it's gotten better several times over the year. Even in the last 3 years it's got a new NPE again. But yeah the learning curve is insane
The words "mmo survival game" strike fear into my heart at this point
If you wanna have an mmo survival game look at World of Warcraft Classic Hardcore.
Ironically I think the best survival "MMO" is still probably minecraft community servers lol
or maybe conan, but I haven't actually had a chance to play conan much
Conan is good, Mincraft is also good, but people want 'building' with smaller blocks, so everyone is waiting for the 'NEXT' minecraft.....and we're still waiting. Dual Universe, was supposed to fill this void, but it did not. Some hope....Enshrouded will.
Landmark, was that! Daybreak (they break) games ended it.
On the contrary, every mmo is dead on arrival and never captures a big enough audience, and they slowly wither away while depending on skinner box crap to keep you playing and microtransactions to keep you paying. Games like Minecraft, Valheim, Ark, and this one can be enjoyed for years and years with varying size groups of people and the reason you will log in to play is because you want to, not because you feel compelled to not miss out on whatever trickled-out trash they are pushing this "season".
conan is quite good but it's prtty much run its course at this point unless you play privately like the previously mentioned stuff. Even then it's showing it's age, and the battlepass stuff they introduced a year or so ago is a perfect example of why the people crying for mmos and mmo-like mechanics are just plain wrong
Really wish hytale wasn't spinning its wheels so badly too
plus every mmo feels pretty hollow unless it's absolutely bustling. A couple thousand is a "dead game". Where these sandbox servers always feel fresh and alive with even a few dozen. I recommend pacing your enjoyment and starting over on different runs and with different groups periodically to fully enjoy them instead of expecting an mmo experience.
Eh honestly I'm happy hytale is taking so long, means that they're not just cash-grabbing on pre-orders when they easily could of, that game had insane levels of hype
Fair, it's not wait that bothers me so much, just been a lot of 3 steps forward 2 steps back and going dark for like months at a time.
I imagine after they got aqcuired by Riot the scope of the project increased dramatically, probably messed up their marketing cadence
Yea that's fair too, it still looks really promising
Shotgun with double scope
That is revolting.
Ahhhh is this insurgency sandstorm? I love shotgun sniping in that game
Underrated game tbh it's one of my favorite modern fps games
Anyone here remembers Bad Company 2 with slug shotguns?
So OP, so good
Yes, was borderline better than actual snipers. Very funny
insurgency sandstorm actually just has realistic shotguns, but gamers are so used to shotgun projectiles magically disappearing after just a few meters than when they see realistic shotguns they think they are broken or janky lol. The buckshot in sandstorm has a lot of range
Tarkov has pretty satisfying shotguns too. You just have to aim for the legs :P
I love games that do shotguns justice. Hell Let Loose is one of them. Super fun to use the shotgun in it
Yeah all the "realistic" shooters tend to do that. I like sandstorm though because it has relatively realistic movement and gunplay, but the actual pacing of the game/matches itself is still very fun and arcadey. Matches are very fast paced and you get back into the action really quick for how tactical of a game it is.
I personally can't really stomach games like squad or hell let loose just because of how slow they are, walking for minutes on end not finding any action only to die out of nowhere to some guy you can't even see kinda sucks. Also the communities are so insanely hardcore that I don't think I fit in lol, I can't take games that seriously
I do love the helicopters in squad though... I'm tempted to sink a lot of time into it just to be a transport pilot
I never played Sandstorm. I want to give it a try now
dubudubudu
I never played Squad either, so I can't say much about it (other than the infantry overhaul that is coming looks super cool).
HLL has a hell of a learning curve, so player retention seems bad. But once you understand positioning and where combat is going to happen by only looking at the map, then you can get into action pretty quickly. HLL also needs a lot of teamwork to be played properly, as spawns are 90% player created. It takes a lot of coordination and good communication.
I love the game, and I was invited to play it competitively, but I don't really agree with how the community plays that game competitively (often with 200+ ping, only 18 vs 18, and with some really cheesy strats for taking out spawn points)
It's pretty great honestly, the PVE mode is pretty fun too
I honestly think it's one of those games that sorta got shot in the foot by their own veteran players who were fans of the previous game. I remember it got a lot of negative reviews at launch from people who were comparing it to the previous game.
But as someone who didn't care too much about the previous game... I've honestly always thought it was pretty awesome lol
And it has a PvE mode? I'm wishlisting it right now
Still has some of the best sound design I've heard in an FPS game
Stop selling me the game, my wallet can't take this kind of abuse ๐
(Though squad might take this title at this point though, also very good)
Seriously, though, I'm into the whole audiophile world and a good sound design in a fps is a dream come true.
I stopped playing Tarkov because of how bad sound is in that game. HLL on the other hand has an amazing sound design. DRG as well
Oh yeah you'd be very impressed by sandstorm then, the sounds themselves all sound amazing, but also their directional audio system is one of the best I've seen in a shooter. I've never had an easier time finding people with just my headphones, at least in a game with that much chaos
Have you ever had the pleasure of using a planar headphone or IEM @finite saffron ?
(Not that all planars are great, bit still)
Not planars, but I have IEMs yeah, and I use the ATH-R70X as my daily headphones at work which I really like.
Cool
I have a ATH AD700x, which has pretty much the same body than yours, but the sound signature is different (mine is all over the place, yours seems to be much better). Few other headphones come close to the soundstage those ATHs offer. And they are super breathable, which is nice for warm days.
Anyway, give a planar a chance, whenever you can. Something like a 7Hz Timeless or a S12 Pro for IEMs. Maybe something by Hifiman for headphones. The resolution and subbass is *chef's kiss*
I have the shure SE215s for IEMs, but no idea if they're planar or not. Don't honestly know a ton about headphones lol
I really like good audio but don't honestly care that much about the "tech", so I've always just done research on what has the best soundstage and stuff for the price
I use plane headphones I got from my last transatlantic flight, but they're mono so I plug two pairs, in separate audio jacks. The sound is unparalleled
the ones in the little baggy?
yes
I paid 2 entire dollars for each pair, better get my money's worth
I'm not watching 21 Dresses with no sound ever egain
Hahahahahaha
On a similar note, my GF and I recently bought a pretty nice surround-sound soundbar setup for our TV, and ever since we've bought it the only thing we've been using the TV for is marathoning the old seasons of spongebob
totally worth it
Well, it is better to watch with no sound AND no video.. ๐
@untold lynx this is their frequency graph, btw ๐คฃ
I absolutely love that somebody did a frequency graph for those
I never got much into speakers. I'm glad you are enjoying it
Crinacle did. He's the best
yes this graph makes sense to me, a learned man
I never did either, but the TVs default audio sounded so incredibly bad that we genuinely couldn't understand dialogue in movies we watched lol
Soundbar with woofer made tv sound so much better
Crinacle is the guy who maintains the world's largest public database of IEMs and headphones. Here's a very sober take on gaming headphones:

For comparison, here's the graph of a well balanced 80$ IEM
all those graphs really mean is how well audio equipment can respond to different frequencies. Usually audiophiles prefer it to be as flat as possible to have a "true" audio experience that's close to the original, but also a lot of consumer headphones tend to intentionally skew it (in particular towards bass frequencies)
a former colleague was an audiophile and he made us purchase thousands of dollars of equipment he didn't know how to use, so whenever I read "audiophile" I think "easy mark"
I mean yeah they are lol
I like audio but I also can't really fathom spending several thousand on a pair of headphones, unless I was a professional that absolutely needed to have perfect soundstage or whatever. Beyond a couple hundred bucks I really think it starts turning into placebo effect haha
It depends, really. You can be an audiophile and not a purist. Meaning you can have preferred sound signatures and still have a keen ear for details and sound in general
To be honest, there's a lot of pseudoscience and straight up lies around the hobby. It's sad that people fall for it :(
my keen ear: "is this thing on? ๐ค"
I hear this a lot, and it's all true, but I think the main thing audiophiles don't realize here is that for most people cost and convenience are the two biggest factors, not sound. A lot of gaming headsets are <50 bucks, and it's very difficult (impossible?) to get a half decent pair of headphones+boom mic for that much. Maybe a desk mic, but a lot of people don't like the inconvenience of those, and without a mic stand (extra cost) it will probably sound horrible.
But if anybody is spending more than 50USD on gaming headphones, then yeah you should probably just get separate pairs. The cost to quality ratio starts to get real bad
I agree.
Though you can probably get a good 20$ IEM (like a Salnotes Zero) and something like a BM800 for mic for 50$ total. And it comes with mic stand. You would be hard pressed for cable length on the IEM, but there are cheap work around for that. Still, not everyone wants a desk mic, as you said.
On that convenience note, however, I think things should change in the near future now that more and more IEM companies are putting a boom mic on their cables. They are still a bit expensive now, but give it time and let's see how it goes
I hope more cheap options start coming out for those cheap attachable boom mics, they're pretty nice
lol wanna see something funny?

Deep Rock Galactic seems to eliminate toxicity by its very design. Letโs talk about how a game manages to foster such a friendly community, and whether other games can follow its example.
Twitter: https://twitter.com/S...
Yeah even without seeing this video that's actually something I've talked about with many of my game developer friends. More than almost any game I can think of DRG is really great at avoiding toxicity and tricking players into working together/being nice to each other through design. I hope more games take inspiration from it, it's one of the few games where I actually prefer playing with randos than playing by myself
So uh, this seems like a good time to bring this up... If you are one of the lucky people to not be able to play the demo and instead has to wait until EA or full release, then lucky you! You should check out Keen Games' previous title Portal Knights!

I spelt knight wrong
@winter heath That Valheim image you shared in #enshrouded-chat is amazing. It is really pretty!
Gotta ask, how many instances is this? On my discord, I have a user that's building this amazing castle and is up to something like 120K instances. FPS is horrible though.
37k. FPS is down to 15 FPS and lower even on NASA-PC of a freind of mine ๐
Honestly I am amazed that runs at anything above slideshow levels
Valheims building system isn't exactly known for being easy on resources ๐คฃ
I don't think I've known anyone who makes these kind of builds in valheim, they're tool assisted in some way I assume right?
Mats are spawned, but rest is completely Vaniall. 700h+ Stone by Stone.
nope no tool, short of the devcommands/fly/nocost commands
Oh good lord
I didn't even have the patience to make minecraft builds without tool assist, I can't even imagine making something like that by hand lol
It all started in January. And then i just had to finish it.
Since the first building trailer of enschrouded we are looking forwars to it. The streamer who owns the Server the Cathedral is located is currently streaming Enshrouded fpr 130 ppl btw, he will dive deepo into it for sure aswell.
Had some crashes, but is in love alrdy
Honestly we expected this branch to run much worse tbh, we're very happy with how it's doing so far. We knew there'd be issues going into it (like we explained in #news)
Should have a lot of improvements ready for our Oct 9th build :)
Though we also weren't expecting this many people to notice it... So I guess it's very good that it's running better than expected lol
Expectation management is really key. Tell people it's going to be slow.. lowers expectations, and makes people happy.
Under-promise, over-deliver

Game?
Is there any free games that have similar features like the buildin , caving/mining , fighting bosses, ect ect!! i sadly cant run this game as my GC is only 4gb
Conan Exiles
I spoke with our devs and they told me that down the line the game should run on 4GB VRAM cards as well. But that's probably more for early access stuff
Are you frrr?????
Bro if yall can make that happen
that would be insane
im sure i wouldnt be the only happy one!! Lol
I mean, as a lot of people can tell you we've got a lot of work ahead of us to optimize the game still
but yes, we will do all we can to bring the game to as many players as possible
because... this means we can sell more games, and you know, pay the rent and buy food and video games
ahem amd support anyone?
Last Days on Prometheus
the game now works on AMD cards. Granted, a bunch of them still cause problems, but by and large it does
If I keep soaking the wood in water in valheim will it suddenly break?
No it will degrade down to 50%
Or some % I think it's 50. Been a while since I played, and an even longer while that I played without the "everything you build has infinite hitpoints" mod.
Tis 50%
Linux support then?
or at least proton compatibility
we'll go down the list of most to least common systems and work our way from there
fair enough, take your time I know thereโs a lot on the plate of the studio

OMG YES
This was just announced. I'm so hyped for it ๐
DEEP ROCK GALACTIC: ROGUE CORE is a spinoff of Deep Rock Galactic with a roguelite twist. The roguelite twist means you start from basics in each mission and cooperatively build up powers and abilities for the team, sometimes leading to insanely overpowered builds and other times to spectacular flops.STORYExpenite, a new mineral of incredible va...
To be announced
@finite saffron have you seen this?
Ye :) I hope it ends up being good, because I love DRG and I love roguelites
but at the same time I am a little nervous since I know GSG is owned by Embracer group, and Embracer group has been... sketchy lately to say the least. Lots of layoffs, studio closures, financial trouble, etc.
Part of me worries that GSG is being pressured to start churning out these games, especially since in their blog post they said they had to majorly delay the next DRG update to make this game happen.
I find it a little fishy that a studio that was formerly so conservative with their development is suddenly churning out 3 sequels at once for their IP ๐ฌ
True. I've been following the whole Embracer drama. Hard to know if it was something planned (expanding their IP) or it was really something they are being "forced" to do.
I can only hope for the best. GSG have been utterly amazing so far
If embracer wasn't involved I would have complete faith in them, but given that two of the sequels are a roguelite and a vampire survivors clone, which have both been pretty notorious "easy money" games in the last few years, I will admit I'm a little worried. Seems uncharactaristic for them given their past behavior.
Though they're just publishing DRG survivors, so I won't read into that one as much.
Hmm, you're right about that ๐ค
Time will tell

really fun game. modpack is made easy asfk to install and you can even mod the modpack which is nice. add better graphic mods and hd model npcs etc. its a alice in modland game haha
This looks incredible
Looks like an amazing mod, but I'm sure it can't compete with the most realistic game ever made
Designers say the new game explores the endless paperwork, routine patrolling a modern day soldier endures in photorealistic detail.
Never got that into side scrolling fighting games actually, but I like the fatality animations lol
lol

this one made me laugh
been meaning to show this in passing
this is only half the house, there's a mirrored portion on the other side, technically shaped like a cross
This game is bootiful #ACMirage
Or foundry if you want satisfactory but as an voxelgame
what game is it?
It looks like 7D2D, but worse looking. Does it have any questing?
I always called it lego low budget style lol
Lol
It does look like it could be fun, but I already played the hell out of 7D2D and I don't see anything different from that
Yeah it's a free demo probably not for long might be the buffer you need while you wait on enshrouded
That games fun too... killed everything though
Yeah, they did add some more POIs last week, but it does need a lot more time to develop

Ah~ chaos and death~
Yooo warhaven
Pretty good game~ But it is NEXON. Bad things waiting this game in future~
That's why I'm playing it on start - it usually best time for nexon game~
true, although maple story ain't so bad ๐
I've enjoyed this so far though, all they need to do is add more maps and modes but it's fairly solid for now
Mabinogi also not bad is you look at surface~
But it is shadow of what it was before
Also tacticool heavy knight in camo colors with bunny head - ridiculously good looking
Once of my Favorite Game is Skyrim. It's an old Game, but you have many Way's to play. Also Enshrouded you have many Way's and make the Game to your Game.โค๏ธ ๐
Fus'ro'die?
Where do the denizens of Skyrim to go get their clothes?
NORDstrom
Exelent game~
I'd like to see in Enshrouded same 1st person view mode like there. It much more suitable for crafting/building. And 3rd person view better for combat
Back in the closed beta the devs said it would take a rework of the game engine and its mechanics to make that work. They donโt plan on doing that unless a vast vast majority of the community pushes really hard for it.
Ah~ so bad. It not necessary, but would make game more comfy~
If it needs much rework on so late stage - drop it.
what game is this?
Is that modded conan exiles
Yes
NOOOOOO -
showcases new gameplay footage
it's another escort a cart quest
I only realized last year you could hit the ox and it would go way faster. That early DD mission makes me dread replaying the game
I like how in 2023, we have a pretty good idea about game design and kind of break it down into a science, but some devs are still like "Here's an escort mission"
or "here, this you need to follow NPC is walking slowly and you get to walk either slightly faster or slightly slower, have fun"
Well, I don't think escort missions are inherently bad. They certainly are at the lowest level, but all quests kind of are if you boil them down to the lowest possible form
Escort missions aren't exactly "bad" game design, just extremely lazy. It's a very simple way to force the player to sit around for some dialogue or story while still giving them "something" to do, which is why so many quest heavy open world games still use them even after people say they don't like them.
I'm sure the devs probably know how to make better quests, but when your big open world mmo or whatever it is has hundreds if not thousands of quests, eventually you probably run out of ideas ๐
Also yeah I've definitely seen fun escort missions in games, if they're done right. A lot of them are pretty bare minimum though
escort missions in helicopters or planes are kinda cool :)
What escort missions have you enjoyed?
I could imagine an escort mission like the caravan picture above where they're like "keep your eyes peeled" but there are actually signs leading up to an ambush that you can pick out if you're paying attention, and maybe you capture glipmses of enemies in the trees or whatever. The problem is that you don't usually get those things and when the inevitable ambush happens it's like "okay, now it's time to play the game"
I mean escort missions where you're following an NPC or the NPC is poorly following you I think is bad, but if you're in a car driving and the NPC is next to you talking is fine
Had a good time escorting a lost whale to its mom in Dave the Diver recently ๐คฃ
I find a lot of ARPGs have pretty solid "escort" missions, usually because the NPCs are designed to keep up with you even if you go fast, and they often give you hoards of enemies to massacre while you do it.
I really dislike when a game has the character youโre following walking faster than your character walks but slower than your character sprints. Like why arenโt we the same pace?! Lol happened in Starfield most recently for me
Def! Not an ARPG but Diablo IV escort missions arenโt any more tedious than other missions since the characters just catch up
Yeah I think escort missions should either be designed to keep up with the pace of the player, or they should be slow for a specific reason (like, for example being vulnerable in some way and you have to defend them from enemies).
But when they're slower than you can sprint and literally nothing is happening... Torture.
yeah, for sure
Such torture
An escort mission can be fine if the NPC is just following you, and just teleports when he falls behind, but there are some missions in some games where you're just following this slow dude.... then all of a sudden he'll turn around and sprint back to a point where we were supposed to get attacked so he can be attacked and the game just choked on the timing xD
Hahaha omg meanwhile youโre left in the middle of the crossfire
Yeah it's a lot more fun when the NPC follows you, not the other way around. The only exception is chase missions I guess, which can be fun if they're actually challenging. Lots of games with vehicles do those and they can be fun
Though I find they're often way too easy and you just kinda end up doing an escort mission with dramatic music lol
A certain youtuber likes to complain about trailing missions, but I think they're fine lol
I like chase missions when you can actually catch the enemy with your own skill, though a lot of them are very artificial and won't let you catch them until the story allows it, which can feel like a waste of time
Yeah, that's always super frustrating
"Can't do it because plot" is generally a bad thing
I think it's comical when you're trailing someone, he turns around so you quickly do something to blend in with the environment and it's so obvious you're following him and he's like "Must've been my imagination" lol
Thief 2 vibes ๐
the problem with trailing in Assassins Creed is that you circumvent any challenge by going on roof tops, but that has it's own entertainment value
Feel like a ninja, and now that I say the word ninja, it occurs to me that there are not enough games about being a ninja
It's even funnier when the character does actually spot you and starts getting angry or scared or whatever, but you hide in a bin for 3 seconds and they snap back into their walking animation as if nothing happened and they don't feel threatened at all
and most of them are action games >:(
Tbh I partly blame the "hours as a metric of good" group of gamers. I've seen a lot of games that realistically probably should have just been like 20-40 hours of content, padded out to like 100 with very boring time wasting quests
New Assassins Creed has a samurai and a ninja as protaganists though >:)
A stealther ninja game would be pretty amazing, but yeah, most of the ones I can think of are very actiony
Some of my favorite games are quite short, Iron lung for example. I beat that game in like 90 minutes lol
Anybody else check out the Thoumaturge demo?
That's gonna be a good one
Also for colony sim fans check out Norland. It's rimworld meets game of thrones and its so good. Not sure if the demo is still available. I got lucky with a key during a stream so I got an unlocked demo I can still play that will roll in to the early access
I like long games as long as the content feels justified, but these days I don't really have the time to sit through excessive grinds or filler quests so I generally avoid those kind of games
I think a lot of those games you don't actually have to engage in the grind or filler parts, but I guess it depends on your definition of filler
im playing AC Origins at the moment which is one of these games and there's heaps of Exclamation points on the map and im ignoring most of them xD
Yeah agree with that. Like Starfield has a bunch of filler quests that I love but you can also just mainline the main quest and be done in 20ish hours
I think what they should do is distinguish between these quests, because the main quest is the main quest, and it's all pretty solid, but there are also some pretty decent side quests that have their own story line and are quite long and eventful
but then there was this one time I had to carry a drunk to a temple, and take his place in a play
Great idea, thatโs how Iโve seen it done in good games with lots of quests, like Zelda and Starfield. They have separate quest categories
Oh do you mean they should highlight those stand out quests?
Starfield is an exception and can have as much filler content as it wants, I want more of it, and I make this exception for bethesda games, because the closer they feel to real life, the better, I want those games to be simulations
I want to pay taxes in starfield, just so I can evade them, but in space
I remember cyberpunk had that issue, somebody pointed out that some of the most fun quests in the game were side quests, but they were buried under a mountain of filler quests and you couldn't tell them apart
I played cyberpunk recently, the filler stuff is clearly labeled "NCPD Scanner" and "Gigs"
I know Starfield had a similar issue in a different vein too, where it had cool places to explore, but not enough so the procedural generation would spit out the same ones over and over.
but all the stuff that had a exclamation point on the map was pretty good
Wouldn't surprised me if they fixed it, this was right at launch
Im still enraged by the procedural stuff in starfield, and it goes for a lot of the features in starfield, where they show glimpses of the fact that they are capable of doing something, but elect to not do it.
For example, in sarah's companion quest you land in a canyon and the only way to leave is through a kind of tunnel, as you leave this tunnel, you are both in a dense forest and on a cliff, as you look down from the cliff, there are more levels of verticality and it's all also dense forest, and it's really cool and amazing, and most importantly, it blends in with other tiles
and I haven't seen anything else in the game remotely as cool as that place ๐ฅน
Ah damn imma have to do Sarahโs quests in my NG+
so they were indeed capable of making the procedural generation/tile pool look really amazing, but instead it's mostly just generic.... flat.... things
I already married Sam ๐คฃ
My one counter to that point is that it literally looks like barren planets, which is what most of our universe actually looks like haha
But yeah def some missed marks in there and extremely hidden gems
I mean a lot of the forests look really cool and dense, but there's nothing like the grand canyon or truly amazing geographical terrains, other than that one spot lol
Oh yeah I see your point
I mean the planets with life, but even barren planets can have interesting terrain
I found some random ass structures/geography on a random planet that procedurally generated well, but yeah itโs such a hit or miss ( mostly miss) on keeping it dynamic
That's definitely a procedural generation problem. The general problem with procedural generation is repetition and sameyness. To make it so the player feels good about the random generation, there have to be enough tiles and tilesets so they don't regularly see the same ones over and over. But most games don't have time to make 1000 tiles, they have time to make 30, and then they use them 100 times and it feels real bad.
But procgen only really feels good if you're constantly discovering new tiles and new things.
Yeah and Starfield runs into the issue of having 1,000 planets so even if you had 1000 tiles youโre bound to repeat them frequently
I think if every planet was just generated out of this single tile in sarah's questline, it would've taken longer to notice the repetitiveness
it was that good lol
Exactly. You need to have orders of magnitude more than you can reasonably experience.
Thing is... it's probably faster to make the same amount of content that feels good manually.
Haha def feel that. Iโm so excited to see what mods do to the game bc they can totally apply something like โbetter geographical features modโ to do just that
I'll say that modern No Man's Sky has impressed me a bit more, they've improved the procedural generation signifiacntly since I last played.
I wish I could take all the power of NMS procedural generation and just make one big planet instead of a giant universe.
Ah Iโve gotta dive back into NMS, I played it too early and wasnโt in the mood for what it was laying down. Somehow went with the Planet Crafter instead ๐คฃ lower bar of entry. Schlocky game but I love it
You still kind of learn to "see" the procedural generation, but they've expanded it a bunch to make it more interesting.
also, starfield cliffs/mountains don't have rocks? but I don't know why they don't because supposedly it's ment to be made up of hand crafted tiles lol
Iโm hoping that SF is only gonna go up from here in terms of development. Just watched a video of someone playing the original disk version of Skyrim on Xbox (I think?) and would decrease their health bar every time the game crashed/glitched. It was like 5 minutes before they were under half health ๐คฃ
yeah, I think starfield is a lost cause in terms of it's quest/story content, but maybe modders can create their own gameplay loops that are fun and interesting
What do you mean lost cause on quest/story content?
It's structured weirdly
Like, I landed on Planet A to do a bunch of quests on Planet A, but all of the quests I got from Planet A are sending me to Planet B through to Z
Oh yeah I wondered if that would eventually go away after it took me to the major city planets but it did not lol
The Free Star Collective Questline has like... maybe one quest that actually takes place on Akila lol
I hope someone makes a mod to tell you what things have changed from your base universe in the new game+ universe so you know if you want to explore it or not.
Akila has like 3 or 4 quests lol
Oh someone made a mod the other day that lets you choose the proc gen seed, so if everyone picked a seed, we'd all see the same stuff
Fortunately you can usually fast travel from picking up the quest straight to the next planet but yeah itโs weird theyโre like โokay now go to the factory on planet 758, see ya back here for 2 seconds in about 10 minutes before I send you to planet 23โ
yeaaah, that's the other thing, the environments are super cool, but because of the fast travel and the boost pack, it doesn't really sink in
You can buy an apartment in the major cities but there's no real gameplay incentive to do so lol
A lot of Bethesda's game design and excuse is "You can do it if you want" but like... it wouldn't be that hard to make some of the more useless features in starfield both useful and fun lol
Like there was a mod for Skyrim that was a big museum where basically every unique item in the game got a display, and you were the curator or whatever, and you got paid for displaying items, so there was both a fun and functional reason to hoard everything like a psycho
that's a pretty specific example, but I want that in starfield lol
there's a bunch of "Old World" relics in the game and it's such a shame that you can't open your own museum ๐ฅน
I'll probably make that mod lol, I'd say it's one of the few idea's i've had that are within my skill set
Count Porco loses to AI in the new Forza Motorsport.
Yeah I bought the neon penthouse bc I have f**** you money in game and wound up going back to a prior save and undoing it after getting to the top ๐คฃ imma just stick with my mega McMansion I got with the perk
Omg i would die. Like the museum on Samโs home planet! Hahah
But I also use the McMansion as my museum. I spent a few hours the other day placing every misc item Iโd picked up across the universe on shelving units in the living room
Lol yes Iโm an old man and took pics on my phone instead of screenshots (which I also took)
But itโs just because I wanted to send a text to my bf showing it off ๐คฃ
You hoarder. I used player. Modav to increase my carry weight lol
I wish there was a system for placing items, doing it manually seems like pain lol
Which game is this?
Looks like modded Conan Exiles
Yeap it modded Conan Exiles
Glitched Hunter's Bow in Dawnlands. Hill is hoverin' ๐

Never saw a sea monster
So... turns out Lords of the Fallen that launched today also requires 6GB VRAM and is getting hit pretty hard by negatives on Steam, surrounding poor graphical performance and possible Studio lies about Multiplayer. We may very well see by 2024 few of any games that will operate on GPU's with less than 6GB. I'm not certain that's a good thing because it (could) just be because Studios aren't spending the time to optimize their game (cough STARFIELD cough) and just pushing them out relying on gamers with big wallets and even bigger GPU's to play them.
Well it is 2023, with how technology is constantly improving, so will the quality and mechanics of games being made. I understand people being frustrated by not being able to try a game out, however at some point in time they are going to have to realize that it's time for an upgrade. Maybe not their entire computer, may only need a new GPU that will be compatible for their respective motherboard. Optimization is a factor I will agree, though as long as tech in game development keeps improving, that will continuously raise the minimum standards for computer systems in order to play games.
And long gone are the days of John Carmack where they had NO choice bu overly optimize everything or they couldn't make the game they wanted to with the tech of that day.
I thought it was quite funny using an RTX 2060 with my 2008 Xeon. ๐
I've swapped that out for a Ryzen 3600 now, so much better suited.
Enshrouded plays really quite well.
Anyone here playing Albion Online?
So many demos, only 2 days left, possibly
OG gamers remember.
How about Michael Jordan VS Larry Byrd by Tyger Electronics
Oh boy, they've remade star ocean the second story. That brings back post high school memories.
We need AAA studios to stop focusing so much on graphical fidelity. It doesnt matter if your game is beautiful if it cant be played on most machines. Lile half of AAA releases this year have been plagued by performance issues.
I totally agree. The problem is, it's like a DPS Meter, everyone wants the next thing to have MORE DEEPS and so each time a new game comes out they're often trying to one-up the last game of their genre. It's stupid but kind of the times we live in. I'll take an amazing story with average graphics all day over something that looks like CP2077 but plays like LotR Gollum. Granted it's also kind of CDPR's fault (in a good way) in making CP2077 & The Witcher 3 so outstanding that they've become the benchmark that most Studios can't achieve.
Yeah sadly I blame capitalism, everything has to be bigger and better and more expansive, but that means its more expensive to make and has to sell more copies or its a failure... its just spiraled beyond where we can sustain it.

One of the Demos for next fest I tried, attempted to install nProtect.. I noped out of that before it finished..
What's nProtect @acoustic ruin ?
I don't remember hearing about that before
I tried Anger Foot demo and it was awesome. Super stylish and fun gameplay if you like fast FPS
wat game is this?
It's a difficult to uninstall anti-cheat protection ring zero software. And a couple of historically known issues that may not be there anymore but I prefer not to risk it, anti-cheat software is usually worse than cheaters in multiplayer games.
I'm not sure if I'd be willing to install it with the purchased game let alone just a demo
Just like I don't like to buy games with denuvo
Denuvo is just a commercial virus.
Aahh, I see. Thanks for letting me know @acoustic ruin. I'll make sure to stay away from it
It was called quantum knights
Ah, I saw that one. Didn't grab my attention, tbh
Have you tried Anger Foot, though? :D
Never even heard of that one
It's not a big deal, it's just not the most efficient anti-cheat out there
People make bigger fits out of things than is really warranted
Imagine Hotline Miami, but a highly stylized FPS version with a kicking mechanic
On the other hand any game that needs an anti-cheat I'd probably don't want to play, unless I can play it on GeForce now.
For all those taht like base building and want a game to play thill this comes out and u enjoyed ark look in to Dark and Light on steam its a ark game but instead of dinos it its fantasy with magic and sword and bord with much better melay fighting then ark ...... for those taht cant play this dimo come join me lol
man, im pissed. i havent played eso in forever, a friend of mine started up again and i wanted to see what it was like now. naturally i couldnt remember my login, so i tried to recover... but there was no evidence whatsoever that my previous account even existed. no emails, no card purchases, no registration reminders, nothing. i checked every email that ive used in a decade, nothing. so now i have to start over from scratch after losing the credentials to a beta-test account...
I managed to recover the EVE Online account that I created on my old university address that had been deleted more than a decade prior by just opening a ticket and providing as much info as I could about the character. I'm sure their customer service could help you recover... or confirm that you are losing your marbles
Jeez that's a long time... I've barely been gaming for that.
Peak gaming was when consoles couldn't even go online. Still had online pc gaming, but it was a different beast back then.
HHaha I didn't even see that response earlier CUB. I'll be there before long. Its a blink of an eye in the grand scheme of things.
i have sent a ticket providing what i could, but honestly, i am not hopeful.
Its better than nothing, feel free to keep us updated on how it goes
Wife is excited for Cities Skylines 2, but not on console yet, so she's going to play on my PC while I give space skyrim another go on her console.
That's fair right?
apparently the team released a message that the performance optimization wasn't quite there yet... best manage her expectations for now
Who else is playing Spiderman 2? ๐ท๏ธ Havenโt seen a single spoiler or video, so Iโm excited to dive in!
Ey... I may be able to get my old ESO back. It was a bit of a tug of war, because my memory of the time is spotty at best, but customer support said they found an account that matches my description... yay.
LOL what the hell are they doing
Don't Worry... Eve online hadn't even been thought about when I was in univeristy ๐ Heck... the internet wasn't even there. Dial-up BBS all the way Baby!!!!!
love that we've got so many actual gramps in this community. I'm hoping for at least one curmudgeonly outburst a day

At level 35, you are granted a random physical debuff. If your debuff isn't immediately obvious, see a doctor.
That's right around when I got glasses.
Also, I haven't really played Eve since like 2007. Ship spinning and spreadsheets
Ahh, Spreadsheet Simulator.
I have to maintain a spreadsheet for SWTOR, but only to track the crafting skill levels on all my characters.
I tried like six games during the next fest and this and one other were the only one that ate my brain. The crust is basically Surviving Mars but on the moon.
I'm not sure when the last time I played swtor was.. when it went free to play I think.
I think you'll find they are actually stacking after lvl 35..
I'm about to hit lvl 45 and dreading what the RNG will do. Lol
Shit I hit level 45 next year. How did that happen? I just got used to being 42.
It's F2P now, but the sub really helps.. especially with crafting.
You can play ok with free though
I'll be 45 on Wednesday..
My dad bought me a bike. ๐
I know that will be a struggle for the first few weeks.
My mid life crisis is that my GF wanted children so here I am with a crotch goblin who is made up of insanity and tornadoes.
Wife left me with 2 bunnies.. a constant source of stress with the hours I work.
I'm somewhat glad that this game does not work well on my hardware or I would have played far too much of the demo.
Plays pretty well on my rig, but I'm stuck at 1080p.
I'm getting my desk moved into my temporary room today, so I can finally set up my PC. ๐
I only have a 1060, so i get crashes in combat and the shroud.
Yeah, stacking debuffs every few levels is not great.
Oof.. I recently went from 1050 Ti to a 2060, so I'm doing ok.
my friend and i had this idea for an rpg a few years ago, where there are all this regular fantasy classes to choose and then there's class "failure" which is a substitute for higher difficulty. you don't get perks from levelling, you just need to pick a permanent debuff each time. good ol times
she works in gamedev now, so i guess there's a chance to see this system in work one day lol
ah crap
Im waiting for my collectors edition to arrive and i'll be playing... also new Super Mario Wonder this weekend... SPIDER MARIO TIMES
Yooo congrats on the collectors, twas sold out here before I had the chance lol. And yea, I got Mario Wonder preordered as well.
So many games, great thing for us players. Hope you have a blast, and show us a pic of the Spidey CE when it arrives!

when we wait for full release of enshrouded, i started a evil run of bg3 (as a priestess of lolth) but not sure if i like it ๐ค i usually don't do evil runs, but bg3 has so many different options i wanted to try it out
I also dont usually do evil runs because being mean makss me feel bad. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
I did that, and killed the druids and my companions were none-to-happy with me, and the one I was romancing straight up left without even saying goodbye. ๐ What a dog. LOL
I wasn't enjoying it, at first... but then when I got to situations where it was "Good or Evil" I just think... what would I NORMALLY do, then do the opposite. Once you get in so far, tho... you can't change it XD!! So once you go evil, you can't go back.
i want to romance minthara on this run, bcos it might be the only time i ever recruit her, as it's either her or karlach and halsin, so even simple maths win lol
but i decided not to even recruit gale and wyll, they'd shame me into doing good things. the rest of the companions will be fine about being evil
hm, should i spoiler the bg3 stuff? this game was out since august
but yeah, i usually don't enjoy evil runs, but also im the type of person who replays an rpg with the exact same character, having exact same decisions multiple times
this time i really try to roleplay as this Always Chaotic Evil character and i guess see if i get more into it or give up
It's either Mithara or Halsin, can't have both, sadly.
spoilers would be preferred for plot-sensitive points
karlach leaves as well if you go with this questline, so it's not just minthara or halsin
i know theres a way to have all 3, but it's very much an exploit, and missing a lot of exp, bcos its basically abandoning some quests, as far as i checked it. (idk if they patched it or not)
how does one do spoilers again ||https://www.escapistmagazine.com/baldurs-gate-3-recruit-minthara-without-killing/||
ah, i see, i didn't know about this one ๐ค tho still looks like losing quite a lot of exp (damn, i feel greedy XD)

NMS these days is really fun, its come a looong way from when it launched.
No Man Sky is one of my favorites.
And is sadly is one of the reasons Starfield failed for me. I had a high bar set for "cool space sim"
Between that and horrendous UI, it did not deliver
I was going to wait for some of my friends to get starfield to get their opinions before I bought it. And then... only one of them even got it, which was telling.
And then everyone picked up NMS again, and so I joined them
Starfield is a Bethesda game, it requires 3 years and 100s of mods. Generally the game was.... ok
I built the computer I am on for Starfield... I returned it shortly after purchase. Biggest disappointment I have experienced in gaming/technology ๐
Reminds me of this
I was disappointed the moment I saw it was single player only.
Just... Why???
Glad I didn't buy it.
For fans BG3, i make this for my friend on happy birthday
that looks so cool!
if it was mp then you would have fallout 76 in space....
Not necessarily, just give us 2-4 player co-op. That's all anyone wants
That's all they wanted from multiplayer skyrim AND fallout
Also, multiplayer space games have the highest potential, if you're all crewing a ship with different jobs and stuff? So many awesome possibilities
Oh, absolutely
Been having fun playing The Front.
This and The Crust were my two favorite demos. It's like Surviving Mars crossed with Satisfactory.
While you're all waiting for Early Access - if you just enjoy crafting and gathering, and enjoy punishing yourself - I highly recommend Wurm Online. You will walk away from that game with the focus and ability to spend days, weeks, months - gathering. Just to build a small cottage in a medieval setting.
7d2d is another fun survival, craft, building game. They have a similar voxel shape / material building system as enshrouded.
For this video I went into full on research diving through code and spending countless hours understanding all the new Alpha 21 shapes, doors, and hatches. I'll share my findings with you, teach you how to leverage the new blocks, and show you my crazy new castle build called Bloodmoon Keep!

As an aside...I hate YouTube videos that have titles containing stuff like 'What You Don't Know" "What You Need To Know" "What You Are Doing Wrong" "Did You Mess Up?" and so on and so on. Hehe, sorry its Monday ๐
i want a nice mmorpg game but cant find any
Very much a different niche, but for any of you who likes Star Wars, flying spaceships, and space combat games with suprisingly deep flight mechanics, I'd recommend Star Wars Squadrons. Great video on it here: https://youtu.be/IJVL3Cs0mUs
Long story short, it was a passion project by a few devs that EA supported for a really short time, so now it seems to be dead on terms of player count and public queues. But actually it's got a great community keeping it going, and we organise weekly events so that everyone can get more multiplayer games going. It's regularly on sale for extremely cheap. Feel free to discuss or DM if you're interested!

Hey Guys
Here's my thoughts on Star Wars Squadrons.
Thank you for watching
Guess its time to check in and see how Sunkenland has been doing...
Hows the game??
Not bad, they fixed allot of issues they had earlier. Its not a voxel game by any means, its more inline with survival then say Enshrouded is. Build function is kinda crude still.
Hmmm maybe ill try it haha
Sooo u Find it fun and u can play online?
Yeah, you can play it online. Still kicking the wheels on it, not sure its going to satisfy my Enshrouded itch until EA. Might look to see if there is another voxel build game, not really feeling
even though I played allot prior to Enshrouded, not feeling Vrising either...
this is subjective
it all varies person to person
Soylent Cola..
mmorpg which has magic and adventure like gw2 but bit different i played lots off those games but some are meh
great world of warcrft, final fantasy 14, runescape
still not enough info being provided
like I said
i tried to play final fantasy but every month you gotta pay and here in netherlands i dont get easliy the time card or whatever its called
yeah true but not a single one caught my eye yet ๐ฆ
Any idea what style of game you like? Albion Online is pretty great IMO but only for a very specific crowd. Even I haven't played it in a while just cause I don't have time for it anymore
hmm good qeustion i played alot eudemonds and guildwars 2 and i also played terra albion... but everytime i play such game it feels like the game is dying or less exiting to play (sorry for bad english)
maybe i am just difficult xD
Mostly just depends on what style you like, there's a lot of different types of mmorpgs so it's hard to recommend anything specific.
thats very true i like the art style off blackdesert and the fighting style but that games is very chaotic

New World is a very good game now too
IDK, I kinda agree with the people who call it soulless
Like, it's quality and it's come a long way from it's rough beginnings, but it still feels very... surface level
IMO anyhow, as with most things take me with a grain of salt and make your own mind up. It's definitely not bad
I think an easier question is, what are you looking for in an MMO?
What do you like?
Any games like Enshrouded with Nice building system an online??
Not that we know of. Minecraft is probably your next best bet.
Other than MC haha
The Forest and Sons of the Forest have great building systems with online co-op. So does V Rising, though it's more rigid it allows for larger servers
I dunno why, but I've never been able to fet into The Forest's building system, maybe it just always feels so cumbersome.
well maybe
I just saw Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria gameplay trailer, because it releases tomorrow, but it reminds me of a simpler version of Enshrouded. There is no shrouded mist ofc, but the gameplay shows a squad of dwarves venturing deep into a mine.
Btw, games that may be similar to Enshrouded and still coming up someday for release are "Nightingale (single/co-op)" and "Elements (single player only)."
I played Ashen a few years ago which had similar dark vibes. It is a souls like game, however. You can team up with a friend but it doesn't have any building. I liked the character design as it is unique. I don't think it was very popular so it may not be for everyone

Anyone try Return to Moria yet? Debating on it. One thing, Enshrouded sure has made non voxel based games a second guess for me lol. Combat hard to live up to Enshrouded as well.
I'm currently playing Return to Moria. Combat is substantially worse than Enshrouded.
We're still in the early phases, but the game seems alright overall. If you're a big LOTR fan, you'll probably enjoy it.
Thanks ๐
Apparently the one dev said it was best in genre according to one content creator, but after watching playthroughs I was seriously doubting it.
Well, it's certaintly the best LOTR survival game.
But... it's also the only one that I'm aware of
Ya me as well. As a super fan of this genre I hope many other devs make super stories like this into one. Like DnD or Harry Potter just for example.
But if you're considering survival games in general? My initial impressions of Valheim and Enshrouded were muuuch better.
Like, I watched Valheim for like 5 minutes and was like "I'm in"
Dont think I even waited the 5 mins ๐
Movement and combat feels a bit awkward, character/enemy animations feel super basic, some of the crafting functionality seems kinda off
I have a hard time comparing those two games... In my mindset very different goals. I compare Enshrouded Minecraft and maybe Zelda more. And yes it blows those out of the water by far.
Feels like they're kind of going for valheim progression, where you craft gear and stuff and that prepares you for the next zone. Then you craft gear and stuff from that zone and it propels you forward further. But... there's no "skill" system like in valheim, so you don't actually feel like your character is improving in any way.
And that makes it feel a little... hollow?
But the skill points in Enshrouded didn't give that? But yes a way that using a skill reduces stam without use of SP would be cool
Ah I see, yes for sure
I'm not really comparing it to Enshrouded, just the like "initial first impressions", like playing Enshrouded for like 10 minutes I had a much better feeling about the game than I do about Moria
All based on equipment progression
10-4
Yeah, and that doesn't really make your character feel good over time I think. In valheim it made death matter because you could lose skills, but I'm not sure what the death penalty in Moria will be.
Ya always felt it was a bit harsh in Valheim considering how long it took to get to a descent level of a skill. So glad when Hildir came out and you could ease up on the penalty a bit.
Yeah, harsh or no it makes you concerned about death
Yep
But I'm not sure what the death penalty could be like in Moria, maybe a debuff?
Ya not sure... But if no progression outside of better equipment, I guess is is a mute point.
Do they have a hardcore mode in it?
Indeed. We'll see. I'll give it a few hours more before I make a for sure call for recommendation, but it hasn't wowed me so far like Enshrouded did
Nope, no world difficulties or anything. It seems like depth is going to be a mechanic, but I'm not sure how that'll work
Ah I see, thanks for the info. Probably hold off until I "need" something before Enshrouded or at least Ashland's ๐.
im watching my friend play atm and Moria seems so boring lmao
Yes on par with a few games in the genre, but Enshrouded sure has stepped up the game in combat!
Def.
Valheim did better with skill lost prevention n resources, but i hope it gets done soon and have achievements or something.
LotR: Mines of Moria is soooo bad. You spawn all the way back at the beginning every time you die. Combat is terrible and you can barely kill the 1st Goblins you encounter with the crap Axe you can craft (up to and including the 1st "Base"). Everything is slow and chunky. Great concept, horrible execution.
is there even dodging in Moria? Since I didn't see anything, I already knew it was not my kind of game.
There is technically dodging, but blocking costs no stamina and is 360 degrees and always blocks all damage, so... not really worth trying to dodge
that's too simple
After playing enshrouded, Moria's combat feels real lackluster.
yeah, lol. I think Valheim had great combat mechanics. The parry in Valheim gave a huge window and was really generous. The games I like more are games with skill levels or skill trees (something we keep as a character, not equipment-based), and I thought Enshrouded had a better system for skills and abilities. I like the fact that you can choose double jump and/or last longer in the shroud, and because of that, I plan to grind my skill levels more to have a nicely built character before joining friends.
Yep, for this sort of game a good combat system makes the game feel miles better. It's super important to get that "feel" down. Enshrouded definitely nails it pretty well, but Moria's combat feels very clunky so far.
The characters look stiff, and when I saw the 13 minute gameplay from IGN, they only took down 2 monsters and spent the rest of the time jumping down the hole. It was a waste of time and the footsteps were super annoying.
Thank you guys for the run down on moria as i nearly bought it today to give me something to do until Enshrouded was released but i dont think i will bother now
If you haven't tried, Valheim is a better experience. Explore and collect everything.
how is the building side of Valheim
besides fall damage, building can be important because of the rested bonus, similar to Enshrouded. The houses always look great, but you have structural integrity, meaning the higher you build, the less stable the build, and you can't build past the dark red zone. Another important note, is that there are better materials in the future gameplay, where you can build further and bigger.
And smoke from the fire can cause your character to suffocate (slow poison damage), so remember to have proper ventilation. Keep an eye on your cooking, and if you think you have enough wood to build, you don't.
Yeah, my only gripe with valheim's building is that it take too long to get more building materials and there isn't that much variety. It starts to get really good when you get into the stone/iron era though, you can build some rad stuff
this was the best house I ever built for myself. I'm not a builder, and I used youtube videos for tips on design.
You can't build tunnels in Valheim either, but you can dig holes. There is a digging limit and terraforming height limit.
this is a base i build with a friend based on a building we found on yt (plains castle i think was the name, if anyone wants to check out), a bit modified
and here's a much less impressive base i build for myself. but that's pretty much as far as you can go witout cheesing structural integrity
but i enjoy building in valheim very much, it's fun. you do have to grind the materials quite a lot. (i did gather all the resources for those two buildings, but if you're just into building, there's also a hammer mode, where you can build with no enemies, and not needing resources)
i was eyeing the moria game at first (i'm not a huge tolkien fan, but digging is certainly my thing) but then i saw it's epic exclusive so i lost interest. looks like i dodged some bullet here. (not that i would buy it without seeing some gameplay anyway)
the exclusive part being (not so) free range building?
EDIT: Nevermind, you meant Epic games store.
love the use of fences for the windows!
Thanks! I added a diamond window for quick entry and exits. (Cramped space for high comfort)
cozy lol
๐
the good ol christmas tree ๐
Thats solved in the last patch, you can adjust the world modifiers to make the drops richer.
But it feels sometimes a bit off, clicking for example one flintstone on the floor and have popping like 4 out of it.
Oh its not about gathering speeds, I actually like the slow pace of resource collection, it makes me feel like I put in real effort to build something cool.
Its more like "by the time I get to black marble and can build the coolest shit, I'm already almost done with the game."
there is an element of that
although building an underground lair under an infested mine in the mistlands feels really fun ngl
Yeah, for sure. I think the mistlands is beautiful, fog and all. Since they made the monsters not aggro the torches, making an area clear of mist isnt so bad.
There are just so few overall materials that it feels like it takes forever to not make a generic looking longhouse.

Oh I see, thanks! Guess I will be playing both, Ark and the Finals until enshrouded comes out. Me and my friend complained yesterday about the lack of new good games and being burned out of AAA titles. Happy we get some quality games today /this week
november
Just got the game last night. Ya the battle system is "different". I like to imagine it does follow along the lines of a dwarfs dexterity though. Being small and clunky frames they wouldn't be jumping circles around enemies. A shield is must as you can shield bash to knock enemies back or on their butts. If you make a bed role you can set spawn point. Once you can make your first sword battles get a bit easier. I agree the fighting is not my cup of tea either. I like to be able to dance and move like a boxer around the enemies to stay alive not just block or basic dodge roll.
All my buddies are talking about how good the combat is and I wonder if the combat is so unsatisfying to me because I've experienced Enshrouded's combat. To me it also feels worse than Valheim, but I think it's mostly the animations being less refined looking. Also after playing for a few hours last night, the fact that there's no "Character" progression started to really bother me. Enemies don't drop much loot, so there's actually no real reason to fight most of them
The Division 3 is coming, maybe not in 2023, but it's official now. As somebody who spent hundreds of hours in the first Division game, it still left me wanting a version of the it that we never got, but with a new announcement, I can only hope that Massive will open the floor to the community, and in this video, I want to cover what would be m...
i didnt know for now
Very much agree with progression on character. Right now the game feels like enemies are just an annoyance (really should drop resources that are required to craft equipment). Maybe it will change mid to late game? So far the only thing that drops valuable resources are the passive enemies (deer, lama and rats). Wolves, bears and wolverine things drop same stuff so no point in fighting them if you don't have to.
Valheim is a great game that I enjoyed a lot. That said, the combat in Valheim is very basic and a little clunky, it just serves in the context
Though (reading earlier in the conversation), I really liked the structural integrity system and the smoke being a thing. It really made aspects of the building feel more physical and rooted in function. You can't just jam a lit fire in the corner, you have to think practically about it and come up with your own solutions
@tepid wadi have you made it to the mine section yet? Get a couple of new stations to tweak gear. Really like the look it does on the gear. ๐
Yeah, the actual mines of moria? The runes are kind of a neat idea, we'll see how they progress as we go.
I'll probably get my money's worth out of the game, but I don't think it's going to be one that I go back to again and again. I like LOTR, but other games have better feels for me.
If Ark ASA does indeed come out tomorrow, I'm happy to put Moria down for a bit to let it cook. It feels like if it gets some continued development it could be a real gem in 6-8 months. The lack of dedicated servers is a huge pain.
Whats this ark update ? I thought they were making another game lmao
That is a different game
its early release just like how ARK:SE was early release when it first came out
ohhhh, so it is ARk 2? Just a differet name
it's ark remastered. ark 2 is still to come and will be fairly different.
๐ฅ
I'll consider giving it another go. I did place down my bedroll but got attacked the moment I did so didn't get to check it for 'settings spawn point'. And I got attacked hard that time, set of 3 and right as I got to the 1st 2 down, another set of 3 came in and it was too much to deal with. Oh, and my BRAND NEW Axe (before the fight started) broke mid fight, that's the dumbest thing ever.
if anyone likes casual exploration/platformer games, Spirits of the North 2 is announced today to release in 2024. It's ok, but short. I spent 8 hours in the game to get all achievements, so its very short.
Man sorry to hear about that experience. It seems in that game you really have to make sure to not be out at night as hordes and wolves come to get ya. I am on the same page as Enshrouded runs circles around many of these games and definitely makes it harder to play them. Tried to go back to Smalland and just couldn't do it LOL.
I tamed the first ever unicorn in ark survival ascended
Niceee
How is it? Mixed reviews on steam makes me worried that it's going to be another performance mess like Ark was during EA
What Portal Knight island size should I do as a solo
Large or Huge
I'm seeing medium for solo, but there isn't a medium option
only normal, large, huge
I went with huge
Bigger maps always better, IMO
I kinda felt that way, but ended up finding out you can block with the axe and time attacks to make it easier to kill the wolves and goblins until you get your sword. Also when you rebuild a stone hearth that you find farther in, you can place another bedroll, claim it and that will be your spawn point should you die.
You just have to go back to where all your stuff is in the chests that you stores and get it all amd move it forward.
You can also just leave it at the initial base locaiton with the mapstone and then eventually repair that and teleport everything to your 'main' base.
I find their stability system for building to be pretty janky, it makes building larger structures kind of awkward.
Where do you get the black diamond from, is thar when you get to the mines?
Yeah, in the mines you'll find orc encampments. Those will have them.
Ok. I've gotten to the elven quarter which has them, just haven't engaged one yet. I will say the game is much better with multiple people playing.
Yeah definitely. Solo I think I would've bounced off it in the first hour or two. But with 4 friends playing it's pretty enjoyable.
its literally day 1
considering there hasnt been a day1 patch, the fact that Im running at all high while under spec is quite amazing
Anyone already tried The Lord of The Rings: Return to Moira? Heard it is similar to Enshrouded
@muted osprey IGN rates it a 9/10, but most people that like Valheim and Enshrouded on both discords said Moria is pretty bad.

They say it's not voxel, and you can't just dig anywhere, which took me from I can't wait to meh maybe on sale
I can imagine defending your base can be difficult or waking up to an raided base would be very frustrating
The video is funny though, I watched it a few days ago
It's a very interesting type of survival game. Instead of eating for extra health like valheim or Enshrouded, you craft armour which allows for more hits. Armour does not reduce DMG just gives extra HP in a way. Picking the right time to rest is also very important as if it is night and you're out more patrols and darkness can become a pretty bad debuff (1HP tick DMG every sec). Pretty basic building like Grounded or Conan. Only 90degree rotation though. Fighting takes some getting used to (shield bash is your friend), definitely feels how I would imagine a dwarf would fight mobility wise. Got to the deep part in the mines so far. My biggest gripe would be there really is no point building a massive base until you at least unlock the mapstone statues and even then maybe not? Very linear game as you have to progress to next area to get better gear anyway.
BTW - Space Engineers is free to play this weekend and is on sale for 75% for it's 10 year anniversary
I tried it, hated it, refunded my money. Combat is terrible, you can't just dig anywhere (only extremely specific locations), you spawn all the way back at the beginning every time you die until you get to your 1st Base location, craft a Bed Roll and set it as the spawn point (if you do that before the Goblins show up and kill you). Your 1st Weapon is a shitty axe that does basically no damage and will break MID FIGHT with just a few enemies. The game doesn't explain the creeping darkness well enough so you die a few times to it not realizing wtf you're supposed to do. Graphics are fine, story seemed fine, game concept is fine but I just couldn't.
OOOO
Nice
not sure if anyone else here following total war franchise, but man, ca just keeps on delivering. they're delivering more dumpster fire, but still, very entertaining once i just gave up on them and am not waiting with bated breath for any improvements
they're mass banning ppl on steam forums, and while i don't particularly care about steam forums, apparently when you're banned there, you can't interact with any part of the community, so it really sucks for a the modders who got banned for making fun of ca and now their mods are dead
Toxic devs ๐
not really devs fault, it's just the suits. i feel really bad for the devs themselves, bcos they seem to really try to do sth, but with what they got to work with, it's like polishing a shit
Anyone playing sunkenlands?
wow
I'm really sick of how we just let corruption and mishandling of player/userbases/consumers run rampant like it isn't happening
Just out in the open, these somewhat mainstream and even very popular companies are just... terrible
My rule is, if you're a corporation, I don't trust you, I don't respect you
I don't believe any corporate entity is in it for the goodness of things, for our benefit, whatever
by definition they exist for profit, so why should we believe that they won't betray our trust at some point down the road?
Thank god that Enshrouded isn't a mass-corporate product
yeah, that's certainly true, but also - you'd think they actually want to make mony, right? not repeatedly shoot themselves in the foot with ridiculous pr decisions
(Or an American one, at that)
You'd think
But Pokemon for example continues to make absurd amounts of profit
While abusing the trust of fans who just aren't enjoying the garbage they put out these days
that's kinda baffles me the most, ca just burned so many bridges these last few months. they are a niche genre, if they piss off a lot of people who'll keep buying their games
They get to have both worlds, and I don't understand why
yeah
Well the reason why they get to have both worlds is that the casual consumer masses are basically zombies that are fueled by "good-feeling" hormones
they'll have to keep making their games/dlc more expensive to cover the costs and that inturn will piss off even more people, it's a downward spiral
tbf i feel like the difference between pokemon and total war is that pokemon is really popular and newbie friendly, there will always be ppl getting into those games, meanwhile with total war they're really relying on those smaller but loyal fanbase, bcos it's not a super popular genre. hiking up prices don't seem to be really sustainable, or they'll end up with like, 5 the most hardcore fans with the deepest pockets
right
if i were them, i'd at least try to make sure that this loyal fanbase is not rapidly shrinking, but well, i'm not a pr person
I've only played a bit of total war: warhammer ones, not any of the actual ones. I'm assuming that's mostly a different corner of the community with some overlap?
I feel like it's more of a warhammer thing with the total war gameplay
Pokemon is the same game every release. Idk how its still popular.
It's like how everyone has to have the new iphone every year
The product from the year before is fine, but if you don't get the annual fixing of "new", you'll have a seizure and go into cardiac arrest
and that's not an exaggeration. If Gamefreak announced they were going a year or two without any mainline titles, the fanbase would have a nuclear meltdown
it kinda started with the prices of warhammer 3 dlcs raising drastically, but the historical side of total war was a mess for a while now, it just kinda boiled over with the bad pharaoh release and hyenas cancellation, bcos now warhammer 3 is the only game that makes money to ca, and it was a dumpster fire ever since it released last year
like, the games themselves are in a bad state, but the suits just keep on releasing those absolutely unhinged blog posts that make things even worse. if they just put their heads in the sand and pretended nothing happens i don't think people would be quite this mad
they make an absolutely nonsense blog post and then getting pikachu surprised meme when people make fun of it (and then start swinging the banhammer)
omfg, they actually posted an apology, i'm laughing so hard
it's truly a dumpster fire that keeps on giving
In all fairness the steam forums are just... terrible. It's a lose lose for developers. If you don't moderate it it's a dumpster fire of pure negativity, no matter how good the game is (look at baldurs gate 3 steam forums if you don't believe me)
If you do moderate it though the management tools provided are so awful that it's basically impossible to manage unless you impose heavy restrictions, which users will also hate.
No idea why steam doesn't let devs disable the feature, they haven't updated it in almost a decade so clearly they don't care about it
So honestly it doesn't surprise me that a team that tried to control it ended up overstepping and going too far.
yeah, i absolutely avoid the steam forums, it's horrible. but also, having a seriously damaged reputation by previous bad pr stunts and then going with banhammer on steam forums - it's just one bad move after another. i feel like just leaving it alone and pretending all is fine would be better
esp bcos they were closing topics like "i want medieval 3" which yes, shouldn't be there, but also seem like such an overreacting. all in all, if you already have a damaged brand it can only go downhill, bcos ppl start picking up things they would let slide in different circumstances
(when i was checking bg3 updates the comments were just full of trolls spamming how starfield is better, it was such a cesspool)
make me a mod in the steam forums and i will cleen it up LOL ....... JK don't
solution: ban everyone. no steam forums for everyone
i see pennywise exposive steam and all blame pennywise after big bill lol
i like looking on steam forums as some of the things people say is just funny

They are sending out invites for nightingale if you guys signed up. They are doing another closed playtest with 10k players
I got one this time
Fingers crossed
I discovered both Nightingale and Enshrouded around the same time and am pretty hyped for both
I discovered nightingale a few months before enshrouded
So I have been in the queue for a year probably
I'm looking forward to seeing how their 'realm card' idea plays out. It seems like it has a ton of potential
Yeah me too!
I've been spending too much time on Darktide and Vermintide 2. ๐
I'm waiting on gothic 1 ๐ฅน
I've been meaining to pick up Darktide since their latest update, it sounded like it updated the game in some great ways
Just too much to play lately
Ello who wanna be a dwarf with me

Extra The Front footage ...
TheFront is... Ok I guess.
is like new rust version
I'm not really that big a fan of Rust, but I've seen many videos about it. I never bought it either, because the movement of the characters does not look fluid.
I personally love rust.
And TheFront is not a new rust ๐
Its more like 7days had a baby with ark.
And ark was cheating on 7days with conan.
So no one knows who's the daddy.
is this game really worth it? I put it down and I'm not sure if I should pick it up again.
@full acorn Portal Knights mentioned
all right, i'll see if it helps pass time before Enshrouded
Hello
i played more Portal Knights in 1 night, than I did in the span of time that I first bought the game over 2 years ago.
wow, I didn't realize it's 7am for me. I need to sleep.

Anyone wanna play Lord of the Rings with me???
i forgot about that game, i played it at the same time as a weird game called monkey quest
I never played that before
I have like 200 hundred hours on that game, i played it with my brother and it was wery fun
Then they stop updating it and i stopped playing๐ฅ
Not as big as no man sky
@hexed inlet ahhh yah๐ฅน
For anyone interested, Swords n' Magic and Stuff is an open-world adventure / crafting RPG which is a cozy addition to the genre. It isn't as in-depth in terms of base building as Enshrouded (building options are limited to pre-designed houses and castle building blocks), but it's an early access title that might scratch the itch while waiting for Enshrouded to launch. ๐ https://store.steampowered.com/app/810040/Swords_n_Magic_and_Stuff/
I quite enjoy playing Len's Island - its a survival with dungeons and building. Not like Enshrouded but its a fun little game to pass the time.
Dark Alliance brings to life the world of Dungeons & Dragons in an explosive action brawler filled with real-time combat and dynamic co-op. Frost giants and vengeful dragons roam unchecked through Icewind Dale as invading armies of evil grow stronger every day. Now four heroes must beat back the onslaught of creatures and defend against the dark...

has anyone tryed it?
No, but I saw one bad review on youtube and stayed away from it since.
It seemed like a very generic PvE group game, so I didn't pick it up
It was a bit of a letdown. Lots of latency is trying to play together with others and the game itself was.... eh.... Constantly getting loot for the class you're not playing as, and the loot can sometimes be just awful.

the head shape reminds me of this meme
@misty arch thanks for the notice! I'll have to finish collecting as many gear as I can, because I quit that game after getting all achievements. I still have a list of items and alternate kills I need to complete.
the D&D IP was picked up by microtransaction piniors years ago and they have not let it go. it's to bad.

I have fond memories of Dungeon Siege 2, which looked a lot less like a mobile game.
It ain't much, but for day 5 it's okay.
Nearby Necks:
Ooo lovely house to chew.
Why should they? Btw. eventually I should reconsider my taste in music.
Nah... Could post it, but don't laugh.
๐ Somehow I don't trust you.
That's probably a good idea.
Well, for the ones interested:
Actually I've stuck that in my head (and playing in the background while in Valheim. May not suit the theme, but somehow I find it funny to play it in the background while doing a "hardcore"-run.)

And in my opinion Black Gryphon has outdone himself in voice-acting that.
Can I ask you what game this is?
Valheim
Funny
Valheim is good, but Enshrouded looks like an upgrade.
I just lower the pain, not being able to play Enshrouded, okay?
I've been thinking of playing Valheim whie waiting, myself. ๐
all I do in Valheim is level up my character skills until the next biome releases. At least I'd have an advantage in dealing higher damage.
looking forward to this game? the day before
it's a very cool trailer but I doubt the game will be anything like it
wrong :D
I'm never wrong.
So... First house fully done. Time for hunting the big deer!
much better with the little wood trimmings on top!
First house wasn't even filled. Was a big hole in the middle ๐
mmmm... missin valheim... may be time for a reinstall.... Started playing Smaland with a buddy to scratch the itch.
I started to play Frozen Flame meanwhile - but will immediately stop for Enshrouded.
I've got a bad feeling, maybe on the day EA of Enshrouded launch, Valheim Ashlands will also release.
I've been playing Portal Knights while waiting for Enshrouded.
Doubt. Ashlands will from what I heard in the Valheim Discord heard not come out in 2023
is Frozen Flame good? I saw a bit of it and didn't really like it. Plus, the mixed reviews is a huge red flag. In Valheim, I usually just rush it into the 2nd biome and level up a few skills to level 40-50 before fighting the second boss.
is there a skill levels or skill tree in Frozen Flame? Are there permanent stat boosts?
Frozen Flame is fantastic - i cannot understand the red flags, I have a lot of fun. and at mmoga u have to pay only 12 Euro ... dont pay the 30 Euro directly from steam.
With Frozen Flame they made a good balance between crafting and grinding. and everything makes sense. But I am missing i.e. the slavery system from conan exiles and also the triagle building parts
but on the other hand, at a certain story mission chain, u have to fly, - and this is really funny
its more something like gliding like it is in Enshrouded
The additional skills are organized in circles, but currently not so many available, only tier 0-2, ... tier 3 is prepared but not selectable. I guess at end u will opened the whole skills within these circles
just concentrate on the mission/quests, they will teach you everything like a tutorial
btw - i started a dedicated server - feel free to join, just look for Dzanian and connect with the passwort: ..... mmhhh, better whisper me for the password
Finalized my Meadows-Outpost.
Everything from now on will just be "minor" Additions, I guess. Like a Portal or sort of.
If Valheim would give me crafting from containers and a paper doll. I wouldnt stop playing. Three times now Ive gotten a server, modded it to get that stuff and a few more QOL items and the save got corrupted.
still creepy. I remember having the radio on while playing this game, so I can hear random music instead of the thumps and clanging in the backgroud.
@autumn sleet Bellwright hasn't been in my radar, maybe because it looks like kind of a generic survival game. Low fantasy survival feels like it could be a real challenge to sell to a wide audience at this point. The army stuff sounds neat, but I'm gonna have to see it in action before I'm interested. Enshrouded is much more exciting sounding.
I think a big thing Enshrouded has going for it is lots of people have tried it out already. Topping the charts in the nextfest is a big deal
I also haven't played Bellwright yet and the combat looks super jank. That said, it's low Fantasy is on par with Medieval Dynasty which I've played tons of and love. I like what I've seen/played with of Enshrouded's Base building/destructible worlds more so than even my beloved Valheim. Jury is still out for Bellwright.
Mu channel is still too small for Studios to reach out and ask me to play their game... Take that back, I've gotten 1 so far but it wasn't my play style so I declined it.
Yeah, I've seen some sponsored videos of Bellwright, but it seems like it's very early/janky, compared to the polish that Enshrouded has shown. Also for a game to really shine at this point, it has to do something unique that isn't really present in other games and I don't see those features in Bellwright (so far). I'll definitely wait for reviews on that one from what I've seen so far.
A game that captivated me at first sight was "outward", you see the graphics, the setting and it seems great, the problem coming when playing in real life, seems like game without ending or very archaic, similar to happening with "new world", I gave it a chance but I fell asleep playing.
Yeah, Outward was a really interesting idea, but I think the dev team was just a bit to small to really realize their goals. I liked the game but also burnt out without really finishing it because it started to feel aimless.
A friend of mine had me buy outward, it feels like playing a game from 2002.
Mods help a lot
One of the areas of game development that is really interesting to me is capturing the idea of challenge in a way that creates fun experiences. A lot of times when games feel "old", developers have made specific design decisions to mimic games of the past and are trying to chase the idea of a hardcore challenge. Sometimes they find a way to build it in a way that is fun and engaging, but other times it just feels like a game ripped from the past that has lost its joy.
For fun experiences, I also like the journey of putting work into getting stronger and more skillful. Games like Elden Ring was more a memory game when fighting bosses and after that boss, you forget it, unless you play New Game +. Valheim and Dauntless felt better because you had a reason to revisit old areas for old materials. The games with skill trees gives me a goal to improve my character stats and put work to unlock more skills. Somewhat easy to obtain goals are better, than chores where you mindlessly collect hundreds of materials for a quest and nothing else happens.
I think I have a moisture problem in my future basement...
you might be ok during high tide
If only I had taken out insurance for water damage
Donโt you mean future swimming pool?
Psssh. Don't spoiler my future plans for a leisure pool.
hopefully, someday we could modify the water physics
I... unfortunately doubt that. You will first try to finally complete the game. I'm even afraid that once it's finished they won't even expand it in any way, since otherwise you can "mod everything".
But good news! Somehow I defeated water.
It's getting shape. But more of that... tomorrow. Need to work.
@short sail If you want to manual change no vegetation on PC using regedit. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\IronGate\Valheim find this entry ClutterQuality_h3068748133, change the value to 0.

Oh. Nice 2 know. But I'm fine at it is. I'm just lowering the vegetation if I search for shrooms.
I hated it, when I just saw it today. Thankfully there is a way to turn it off again.
ooof barren Valheim looks rough
but its easier to spot mushrooms
I'll keep ya guys updated about my house and give you guys eventually a tour.
All right o/
lel
I've hit that problem so many times, I ended up just moving to higher ground.
I mean... Its not that bad. I had a tar lab in my last playthrough. Tar seems to damage... Everything it touches.
