Okay, I downloaded the rockstar launcher and made sure it was updated. I cant launch enshrouded from it, only rockstar titles. Still having the same problem when I launch it from Steam.

I've used Enshrouded tool fix that found and updated my old Vulkan Runtime but it didn't helped me with the VK_ERROR_DEVICE_LOST I still get it every 15 minutes or even randomly it can happen in menu or in game on fresh save no matter the action that i perform

I've rerun this tool two times of course with PC restart every time and I have some suspicions that cause of this crash might be because of these two Vulkan Layer names in the screenshot I attached that are empty and allegedly out of date but like I said i used this tool two times and it couldn't fix it

And yes I have everything updated GPU drivers, Windows, Steam, Enshrouded, etc I've also reinstalled games two times, verified game files, restarted Windows and I run game on balanced settings I also tried to run it on lowest one with the same result I literally don't have idea what to now i tried every fix

sorry you're having issues, check how much ram you have available when you're in a game world, using task manager - go to the performance, and then memory tab and screenshot it. you can also screenshot the GPU tab. the 2070 is in a series with SUPER line of cards, which historically have issues with the game. all you can do is wait for enshrouded to bring out more updates/or more driver updates for your card to be released. you could attempt to roll back your driver as this helped people in the past who had a similar 2070 SUPER card (just research which old drivers were the most stable). if the crash is system ram related you could try disabling steam/discord overlays in game, and all other programs.

if that was the issue, then the fix is to use msconfig and disable all services and startup programs, (make sure you tick the box to hide microsoft services since you need those active to run windows)... and disable steam overlay/discord overlay etc. this should free up a bunch of ram. otherwise only thing i can think of is trying to rollback the graphic driver to something much older.

yeah well the 2070 super is basically based off the 2070 still, so it's no surprise both cards have issues

if this does end up being a better driver, but still crashes, potentially could mean you could keep installing drivers until you find one that is even more stable... but crashing less often = a win as well. since you can play for longer without interruption.

only other thing i could say is, you'll get a message in game about driver being out of date, but it should still let you play

These crashes are weird sometimes i can play for 1 hour or sometimes it crashes almost exactly at 15 minutes and even sometimes it crashes instantly in menu or in game so I really don't know the cause of it but what i know is that other Vulkan games such as Doom 2016/Dota 2/TF2 via DXVK(Somehow better performance on Windows that's why i use it) don't have that crash issue on my PC so i know that Vulkan runtime on my Windows install isn't faulty or anything

Okay I fixed it turns out it was the most stupid reason/fix it was crashing because of my stable GPU OC that I stress tested in 3Dmark and in other games over the course of 2-3 years I have no words literally I didn't tried to revert my OC until now because i knew it was stable in everything i tested 😭

And I didn't rolled back my drivers i wanted to try it first before doing it so i'm on the newest ones still

Ok. I'm no expert OC'er, but I've been doing it for decades, because free performance right? I always find that you raise it up until it becomes somewhat unstable, and then you dial it back like 5-10% until it becomes 100% stable again, and most of the time that works really well.

It's always an ongoing battle to keep heat under control, and stability. And some games and applications just won't have any of it 🙂

If you like to tinker with things like this, apply the OC again, but dial it down 5-10% and see if it works for Enshrouded, and maybe you can save another profile just for this game, and run the other one on everything else.

Core and ram clocks are very individual to your actual bin on the CPU and GPU, so not all of them are born equals :). And some games and other things, especially in early access or beta or whatever, are not super tuned either, so that could cause problems. My best tip is to keep tinkering with it until you get it stable, if that's what you want to do 🙂

Since you're using Afterburner, you can save a new profile just for Enshrouded in there, and just swap, so you don't ruin your "main" one.

If the 1660 is the GPU you have, you should absolutely not entertain overclocking it, because it's not a good idea at all. In fact, your GPU is even below the minimum requirements of the game, so if you can in fact play it at the moment, bless your lucky star and leave it alone.

Yes, my bad, I read that wrong. But it's not a very powerful gpu, and I wouldn't recommend trying to overclock it, because it's not really made for that to begin with.

The caches folder will automatically re-populate itself when you restart the game. There's a file in there called vk_pipeline_cache.bin that we suspect might be causing this issue, and so we want to see if having your game make a new one fixes the issue.

Funny. I had the same error message. Only it continued for me. My antivirus (Avast) then said to put the Enshrouded.exe in quarantine. Apparently Enshrouded was dangerous. When I pulled the exe out of quarantine, I wanted to start the game. Now I get an error message saying that there was an error writing to the disk. Reinstalling the game doesn't help either. Unfortunately, it only gets worse. I can no longer install it. I've already run Steam as an administrator.

Yes, 100%. I've never had other games using Vulkan crash on me like this, and the worst issues I've had with a couple other games (mostly at the beginning) were with various water or shadow related artefacts.

It's also the fact that the game ran flawlessly before that one Enshrouded patch (don't remember the number anymore).

Hi. Friend in question. No crashes of this type. We did get the periodic “server overloaded” lag spikes though.

I am not crashing out, my game is continuing to run albeit a bit lagged for several minutes after they crash before I get disconnected. I have connected to a public server without crashing though I haven’t tried to go to the new area there yet. I’m going to test that the next time they have to reboot though.

A direct P2P connection will strain the hosts PC, if the hardware isn't strong enough, that's usually the issue. With each update, they'll obviously add more and whilst they'll be optimising at the same time, lower end machines will struggle more 'hosting' A public server is just that, a dedicated server so it fits that you don't have issues on a public.

Hmm i just entered my singleplayer world after a long time and somehow my progression got reset. i had all quests done and on the singleplayer world it tells me basically that since the first missions everything i missed :/

If it's just booting i believe you just remove the -1 or whatever the number is on the end (Move/delete the one that has no number as that is what the game loads from. I'd recommend making a copy just to be on the safe side.)

But please... make a backup of every file in that folder before doing anything just to make sure nothing gets screwed more than it already is ^^

The filename of the save will be something like '3ad85aea_info' Depending on the world. A backup will be '3ad85aea_info-1' for example. So rename the 'backup' file to the current file name. Make sense?

Has anybody had an issue where you're unable to teleport to a flame shrine that's within the range of one of those quests with a circle around the waypoint? (Sorry not sure what those are called)

Here's what it looks like - I had my daughter go delete this shrine and create a new one outside of the circle, and that worked just fine. But when I tried to teleport to the one in the screenshot, it would only let me click on that quest. I did try filtering to not show quests, but that didn't fix it.

Aww, I just checked the patch notes at the end of Liandry fix "Even if after all the corrections you have made, the game continues to crash after some time, most likely the problem is in the game itself. I do in fact have a massive build/city that's likely causing the crash.

Though I would think this is a CPU issue over GPU since its individual assets thats being populated/rendered instead

try opening task manager while you play and check the performance tab, then memory tab - see what your memory is when you crash. you said you play with only 16 gigs, so it's possible a big build city like that requires more ram than what's available; windows 11 usually takes up anywhere from 5-7gigs of ram ( at least on my pc it does).

With multiple brands and drivers but the common denominator is the game/update when it never happened before it’s accurate to say that’s it’s likely just a bad update and they’ll have it fixed in a week hopefully or less. Not really much else to do.

You have to take in to account that the game is working fine for the vast majority of people, so it's maybe something with the update, but mostly it works for the majority of people.

You probably just have to tweak something on your end.

Try the performance default graphics settings and see if that works. It has for other people.

So I downgraded my drivers from 555.39 to 538.37 for my 1080 ti and overclocked by about 200 MHz on the memory clock and core clock and its running stable now, no crashing. It still crashed on the down graded version by itself. It crashed on the 555.39 version with overclocking. But the 538.37 with overclocking it now doesn't.

Don't know if this will work for anyone else but hey, its something to try

Yeah the 1080 Ti doesn't really take well to hard overclocks. What I recommend to people overclocking their hardware is to tone it down 5-10% at the time until it's stable again. But good you got it working. AND, when you're having crashing issues on an OC setup, that's always the first thing you have to think about, or let people know about, when asking for help.

Those white boxes are definitely common in enshrouded though, its usually still trying to render the shaders and is temporary. If you haven't restarted your game do that or change the graphics settings to max performance and see if it goes away then

this "crashing" is user specific depending upon make, model, firmware version, BIOS version, etc., of everything your PC uses, down to the fly that landed on your PC, 7 days, 12 hours, 37 minutes and 17 seconds ago. Make sure you submit a bug report. Not everyone experiencing these crashes and they need all the logs/info you can provide. 😃 I haven't had a single crash, my own doings notwithstanding. 😉 Bugs and glitches? Yes. Crash? Not a one. The "missed" quests tab, is a first step from the devs to sort out some shenanigans from before, where group play messed things up. You don't have to do them if you already have all the things.

So seems that the most recent patch has brought in a few bugs under proton (compatibility layer to run it on Linux) which are pretty interesting. Character creation name input field is not picking up delete or backspace key presses, but you can get around this by using \\ to escape sequence (lack a better phrase for this) \ to account for it half the time. Anyone else running into this? It's a bit odd.

Sorry if this had been already talked about.. but there is nothing new in the common-issues and there are 400+ new post in here. I have only played one guy on one world in solo mode. Before the patch I had 72 Q done with only 2 left (hh4 and hh4 recipe) but now I only have 53 q done and there are a ton in the missing Q in the Quest log. i did not think much about it until I noticed now I cant make any backpacks at all they are all gone... and when I try to make something at the blacksmith it said my tools are missing. Am I going to have to go back and so all those Q again? I was lucky I had a few extra set of tools for the blacksmith in my Inv... but the ones I had set out next to him were gone.

not sure if this quest behaviour is intended: I activated one 'missed quest'. As a result all my spires vanished from the map (as well as the npc's markers and many more) - so you have to redo the whole sequence if you choose to complete an old 'missed' one.

Hey there, wondering if Enshrouded is supposed to be heavy on GPU resources ?
It's hard to compare, i know, but my rig heats & vents more while playing Enshrouded than when playing BG3 for example.
While having RTX DLSS set on performance 😮
I noticed it especially ramps up when shifting from night to day.

Anyone else having trouble with picking up stuff with E after de update? normally it was centered of the item but now it is quit low so it happens often that I have to remove the ground before I can pick up the item, or I have to build platform for higher ones to pick those up.

Depends on your minidump file. You should be able to find yours in your Enshrouded folder

Typically, the crash reason is at the end.
That being said, Enshrouded has an enormous CPU and GPU leak aside from crashes.

Yeah, it's looking a lot like populating the bigger areas is a problem right now.

You might want to try typing !minidump in here and a bot will dm up with a troubleshooting route that might help

What's odd, is that my partner is running a lower end than mine graphics card and it's been more stable. This may be an issue with the 10 series graphics cards, because I'm noticing that a few of us are 1060, 70, and 80s.

This is a know issue with Vega GPUs. The following workaround usually improves the situation significantly for most people.

1. Decrease FOV setting in game to the minimum (slider to the far left)
2. Use your GPU software to limit the FPS of the game. Usually limiting to 60 tends to work, but you can try a little lower if 60 is still unstable.

hey, couldn't find anything here, but with the latest patch, the game crashes after a brief time in game and the logs are spammed with: [graphics] Unable to set NVIDIA Reflex marker: Not implemented in current driver installation. followed by [server] Failed to open Server Info message. error='out of memory' at the end of the log.
reverting to an older nvidia driver did not solve the issue, I thought it was the new 555 nvidia driver. Playing on linux (Nobara) with GE-Proton-9-4 without issues before the latest patch (apart from the keyboard thing)

It doesn't do it when I start my single player world.

It also doesn't do it when starting the game, it just does it when I try to connect to my local server which then times out and I have to wait 10+ minutes for the update to finish then I can join without it timing out (unless I close the game then I have to go through it all again).

For other games, you're right, I've seen it do that after each update or first start (after an update) of the game but not every start when joining a server so that's why I think something is going wrong.

Had these crashes with minidump every time entering the new zone, tried many things, new drivers etc, but now I fixed it, using "Vsync On" in game and in Nvidia panel "Use 3D Application Settings"

Genius discovery. I'd been struggling with consistent crashes as soon as I entered the new biome. Enabling Vsync appears to have eliminated the crashes. Nvidia 1080 and Alienware AW2521H.

No crashes or logs or anything, the game runs perfect. There is an exception, when the ability to add custom titles to Flame alters was added the hitbox/interaction-area of the icon sometimes is isolated to a very small spot in the middle of the icon. and seemingly imposable if it's subterranean, or under a cliff, like this one in the nomad highlands. or my main by longkeep.

Like I was inquiring, this isn't a crash, or anything, it's a UI/UX tweak, put all icons on the highest layer so they can be interacted with and not blocked by other game elements, fix icons with custom titles so they can be interacted with.

Well no they aren't the same materials. But they are both in the luminescent class of block so I figured they'd behave the same when you need to pick some back up. All the other blocks I know of return to your inventory except the green and white luminescent ones. They seem to evaporate, for the most part, for no apparent reason. I was wondering if it meant to be this way or is it considered a glitch.

the white one is made from warm white glowing substance, composed of bonemeal and mycellium, and wood acid, and dirt.

the green one is made from purified slime composed of toxic slime, charcoal, salt, wood acid.

the blue one is direct from luminous growth.

which also exists and glows in the world.

the only real difference is the other two blocks have to be combined with more things, and processed more.

but yeah i think there's no lore specific reason you can't get the whole block back and move it elsewhere

hello everyone, before the recent patch (new biome) i was constantly crashing (VK_Device error problem). I tried everything in here and the game randomly started running fine w/ no crashes. with the new update my game consistently crashed, even sometimes in the loading screen.
