Villagers in this game are freeloading losers! I save them from the shroud and all they do is wander around chatting all day.

They won't even feed the poor cats and goats. They are incredibly lazy, ungrateful and represent everything wrong with society in Embervale.

Are you asking "why did the timeframes shift on an early access game?" The question answers itself, IMO. The roadmap update pushing the game's release to 2026 is now over 3 months old. The polite answer is, "Water was a lot of work and continues needing tweaking."

At least they fixed most of the beds stuff, hopefully the rest of the pathing issues are coming. But it's nice seeing them sleeping in cozy beds again.

I hope so, I know it's not the place for it but if Keen is watching I have a wishlist for survivors:

Bare minimum:

  • better path logic - prefer to walk on blocks/road instead of grass/farm soil/flowers
  • better object avoidance, prevent sinking into blocks/terrain, limit step height to 1 block

Extra credit/polish:

  • congregation logic - sit with each other, pull out drinks and chat/laugh, play instruments together, etc.
  • more idle behaviors and animations - use a crafting station, admire collections/potted flowers/monster trophies, eat/drink, go fishing, read/knit/carve wood, pet animals, etc.

Pie-in-the-sky/post 1.0 updates(?):

  • more voiced dialog for quests and idle interactions, add simple conversation trees that can unlock secret recipes/hidden map locations, etc.
  • village defense - fend off wolves/tigers/patrolling bandits/drak who enter the shrine boundary, repair damage caused after defending the base
  • make survivors like/dislike you depending on how you decorate the shelter around their bed (like/dislike certain flowers/paintings/pottery/pots and dishes, etc.)

What's funny is I actually know how to setup and fix all of these issues with Behavior Trees and EQS in Unreal Engine, but I don't know how hard it is for them to do in their custom Holistic Engine. ๐Ÿ˜…

Maybe the only downside is seeing how many of the playerbase might like something different. I'm definitely in the "more combat mechanics" side of things but it doesn't seem like what most players want, so I've made my peace with it.

No details though, so I don't know what that will entail. I hope they give us more weapon types. I would love to fight with a staff/spear/trident/halberd, and socket gems in our armor.

armor and gear is the most important thing, level does mean you have more skill points. so let them fight some stuff and do mining runs to gain some XP to catch up to you.

Anybody have this happen? I built an underground area under my base. Stupidly, I tried to do some water stuff in there. I got 4 drains, 1 water thingy and I put down the drains and turned on the water. The drains didn't drain and it started filling with water. So I picked up the water source and that stopped the water but the water will not drain out of the drains. There's a hole filled with water up top so I dropped a drain in there and the water all disappeared but not downstairs. I even removed all water with the flame altar and it all disappeared except for down in the dungeon. In fact, I thought maybe just putting them on the floor was the issue so I tore out a section and put the drains on the ground underneath. Now I've got a permanen tflowing water well in the middle. it's like the water is pouring into the hole but it never runs out and there is no water source. Do the drains maybe not work if you're too deep undergrond?

if its inside your flame altar, it should be removed.
if its outside your flame altar, your flame altar can't affect it but reloading should?
if its in your flame altar, and removing water didn't get it... reload and try to "remove all" again.

drains should work as long as water can touch the center of them. assuming they're floor drains and not inside/under the floor

worst case scenario, close the game and reload. the water has visual bugs sometimes that can only be solved with that method. (or at least it used to? I haven't seen them in a while)

It's almost right next to the altar but down deep, maybe 4 or 5 walls. the drains are on the ground about half a wall deep and the water is just pouring in from all 4 sides now.

To make this abit easier, does anyone know if camera is player-follow anchor or intermediate transform that later translates in/off engine code?

Ive managed to move camera but its still early in heavy testing.

(no dll injections or anything like that).

Its interesting because it feels like the camera was written by someone who's an expert engineer but stopped at "Okay. Good. its working. Lets not touch it again", and then when someone touches it the logic thinks its an architect.

  2. You are inside flame altar area (the building you want to repair also has to be inside).

Im not gonna spoil what collector gives you, but its a good piece.

You can potentially "fix" the broken structures if the generated building is inside flame altar area and you place your own wall inside of the generated one. Then you can remove your wall and the generated wall will also be removed. Then re place your wall where it was intended.
This is how me and missus did it before collector.

It's like your placed wall works like an eraser if placed inside the generated one (must be inside flame altar area).

I should also say this only works if the building is in your flame altar area. You canโ€™t just walk up to random buildings and start removing blocks.

Itโ€™s an option and a challenging one at that depending on your level. Iโ€™m not sure if there are any prerequisites to getting him to do what youโ€™re looking to do either. You still may need to have discovered the material. I donโ€™t know. Iโ€™m just guessing on this part.

Try me and my missus workaround, place any wall / floor of any blocktype (If the generated structure is a wall, place a wall inside of it with a tip of your own placed wall outside the generated block so you can find it), inside the generated structure. Then go to your placed out wall and remove it. That will remove the generated structure along with it.

You will regain any materials used as well.

Rolling Back to an Older Save:

  • The -info file contains metadata (like world name) but is not needed for servers.
  • Each player generates their own -info files when creating a world.
  • The latest world save files are what should be transferred.

ok I found a little extra detail I found with the water bug I experienced before.
As my aqueduct has water go in two directions basically. If I plug the end that let a part of the water run to my well then the aqueduct flows normally. if I unplug it then the water act as if it is magnetically drawn to the hole, despite flowing both directions initially.

however! the weird part is that my waterwheel will stop working if the water flows as normal under it, but if the water stops halfway and instead flows back up to the hole that leads to the well on the same height on the opposite side of the water source

Water is definitely broken. Removing water using flame shrine, then slowly, carefully allowing my water channels to refill, i still end up with water flowing from areas that make no sense - areas where water could not possibly be coming from......

Well 2H mace was in the base game IIRC, daggers were added later, GS even more recently. You can always use F1 in game to submit feedback and check if there are posts on Feature Upvote that resonate with your wishes, then upvote them. But like I say, it's likely to change, they have an internal team going over all combat and the roadmap indicates combat improvements to come.

I found that even with two water dispensers in the aqueduct the weirdest thing happens. I placed a dispenser further down to make sure it would flow toward the end of the duct. instead the water it created somehow teleported away and instead added to the water volume of the first dispenser which in turn increased the flowrate that went solely to the well I made, making it overflow even with two drains in it

Yeah we are going to all need time to dial it back in IF it can even be done. i have strange little bulges appearing on the surface of the water in my flow channels the cause it to overflow. My entire build has over 200 drains and it still does it

My collectors pin has arrived and all it took was a badly sprained ankle and a damaged shipping box

I tried going to the post office last Tuesday (I have a PO box and my porch is right on the main street of my town so I ship items through the PO) and I accidentally slipped on a bit of an incline and messed up my right foot pretty badly (call off work and get a doctor bad but no break just sprain)

Today, my foot is still a bit swollen and aching but I decided to finally go to the post office again yet unfortunately because I'm in that part of America, the entire area is covered in snow, and a thin layer of ice on top, so I had to walk along the road to the office, and even there I had struggles because the oaf put the box itself into the po box which went in on one side but didn't fit through the receiving end and of course the office itself is closed because every government building here just loves being closed all the freaking time so another resident had to force open the box just to get it out (the actual collector's package is completely intact luckily)

The game is still very much under development as well and โ€œoptimizationโ€ is an ongoing thing as such; and really it probably wont get fully optimized until the games closer to release. Makes no sense to optimize an unfinished game.

IMO, you as a new player should play your own save or with your friends on a fresh new save! Go in a running server will unlock pretty much everything for you as soon as you load and you will get lost on what to do and how to progress

We will do something, we know it's bad timing with the contest. We are still actively investigating several reports from players to make sure that we have the full picture. There were intentional water changes with the patch (there probably will be for every single patch for a while, we're still improving the water physics), but reports from players are kinda all over the place, so we're investigating to make sure there's not any unintended bugs.

My hunch is that we'll probably extend the contest by a bit to give players time to fix any water features that changed in ways they don't like, but we're still making sure we know what's going on before we announce something.

Okay - imagine if we got the same taming minigame with hostile animals. Except it takes like... 10 hearts, the sneaking behind them is even more difficult, and instead of throwing bait we have feed them like an entire goat each time, so we have to first tame a bunch of goats (or other animal).

Got a fun new bug/glitch where I have a super bright white light attached to my character's left elbow and it won't go away no matter how many different types of weapons or shields I equip/unequip or quit/restart the game. ๐Ÿ˜…
