Ice bolt has the same distance as fireball and fire bolt got a little more range lately, about 1.5 to 2 times that of a wand now.

I'm trying to get a recording of the spells, because Ice bolt does seem to not be hitting at times anymore.

Firebolt is shorter range and doesn't do fire aoe, so it looks like it hits but doesn't. Firebolt is just harder to hit with than the other spells

It fizzles out right before it hits -_-;;, which I have done so many times

Basically, I accidentally discovered they could be used, so turned them to stop the water. Then I was fighting one of the armoured guys from below and I ended up destroying the middle gate, meaning the quest can't progress.

I always like to say this game is like the merging of Valheim and Zelda

Biggest difference is Valheim the whole world is permanently edited when altered. Enshrouded only retains changes permanently to the inside zone of your home/base/flames (you get multiples, and they expand to a pretty good size). But if you terraform a whole mountain, don't expect it to stay that way.

But the voxel system blows anything valheim can do. It's relatively as flexible as minecraft as far as block-by-block editing

just way cooler and aesthetically awesome

Best world edit sandbox IMO made so far. Valheim, Minecraft, Satisfactory... Enshrouded beats them all.

There is no way to do this currently. Unfortunately the issue comes down to performance. Saving larger and larger areas makes both your world files inordinately large over time but also impacts the game performance on loading/saving those changes.

What he means to say is, there are new versions to utilize the new materials as you progress, but you are by no means limited by it

It's a combination of both. There are tiers of items - tools, weapons and armor - that you progress through that need different materials as you go along. This is a basic thing for all survival/craft games, but you also have skills that augment things that you can do.

You gain experience by doing things which gives you levels, those levels give you skill points you can spend in the tree to do things like increase stamina, health, damage, gathering speed, unlock specific actions, etc.

Really, upgrade the pickaxe to extend its life and usefullness (faster collection). The rest of your gear you can get by with loot from chests/boss drops. Thought the last patch allowed us to upgrade old gear with creating a newer variant. But I would say drops - gear wise anyways - are preferred.

Folks creating art (music, images, videos, etc.) on Enshrouded is something we enjoy as a community. It's fun seeing the artistic capabilities of many of the artists that we have here, especially when it comes to in-game builds.

But in the age of AI, art can be... easily commissioned.

Just on a "temp check" level, what's y'all's thoughts on when someone posts something in the Enshrouded Discord that is great, but clearly made from AI or close enough that it makes one go and see if it was AI created.

Who's the artist in this case? The person writing the prompt? The AI model that generates it?

To me, it feels the same as if I went to an artist and commissioned a piece of work. I gave it the instructions, what I wanted, and then they made it come to life, but I'm not the artist, and I should give credit to the artist.

What's our feeling here when we see people posting AI stuff?

Which is the file I personally forced off cloud prior to hosting on the Enshrouded server for 24/7 hosting without actually luanching the game. I don't pay for such services.

It's not being a know-it-all. I've not read the official PDF file so I have no knowledge what is or isn't said there, but I have gone through the files on my hard drive and the worlds are there - saved locally - even with Steam Cloud Sharing enabled.

With steam cloud on, your files are saved both in the cloud and on your computer, yes, however they are synced every time you start up and close your game.

whereas the "locally saved files" - the ones that are saved without steam cloud being on - are in a completely different directory and not synced or saved on steam in any way.

so there are, in fact, two save folders depending on whether you have steam cloud save off or on.

This guide started from my personal experiences with using Shared World Files since the Hollow Halls update. I found the new automatic rolling backups could make the process significantly more confusing, and it caused me a lot of problems (especially when I had Steam Cloud Saves ON). So, I thought I would type up what worked for me, in the hopes of helping others—and to hopefully prevent others losing their world saves or experiencing game crashes because it cannot save.

That basic original goal grew with the help and feedback of a lot of other folks to what the document is now. But let me preface this by saying I am not claiming to be an expert. These are my experiences, and I am just compiling info or adding corrections based on feedback and information I have compiled from other posts and discussions. So, if you have uncovered a better (and simpler!) best practice solution, or you think I need corrections to make something clearer/fix an error, PLEASE let me know.

The PDF is fairly lengthy, but it is designed to provide information to someone trying to load a world file for the first time. So it begins with a section explaining how it all works. If you understand the basics, feel free to skip to the section most relevant to you.

I recommend turning Steam Cloud Saves OFF, to prevent yourself potential problems. However, if you wish to leave them on unless/until you run into any issues, feel free! You can just skip the Steam Cloud instruction section.

And most importantly... BACK UP YOUR SAVE FOLDER before you start doing any of this! That way, if you run into problems, you can restore your world save! I recommend just making a backup of the entire folder, whether that is the Cloud ON "Remote" folder, or the Cloud OFF "Enshrouded" folder. That way you not only have the specific world backup, but all worlds--as well as your character--backed up.

Depends on the game. 2 hours isn't a lot of time, especially if the first 1-2 hours is spent trying to tweak graphic settings and testing stability (For the peeps like me who are on outdated hardware). And even without that, some games may have overly long beginning segments, or have weird tutorials (Like No Man's Sky, the learning phase is several hours long).

Steam isnt installed yet, refreshed Windows recently, but I am sure its in the hundreds of hours at least. Have hosted 3 different dedicated servers off this machine on my desk. Yeah. I got my money's worth.

There is something worse than that though - the hubby hates doing dishes so he sets them in the sink... with water... then the water goes... old. The only thing worse than crispy old food is 3-day old dishwater
