it's refreshing to see that Keen Games does a good job so far with Enshrouded, regular bug fixes, good content patch, reasonable roadmaps. What all the dramas/scandals/incompetence of a lot of so called big AAA studios, there is still hope for gaming after all. And there are not the only ones (Larian, the new kids on the block from Sandfall Interactive, etc)

IMO, Indie devs have never had a better opportunity than this current era. Barriers to entry are relatively low with free engines (that are actually producing some of the best games out there), brick-and-mortar retail space is no longer necessary, and AAA titles are falling flat due to overscoping and bloated budgets/teams.

Technically speaking if videogame prices matched inflation big budget games would be close to 100 dollars now, but that doesn't really account for quite a few things, like how monetization practices have changed (live service games are a thing now and weren't back then), or how games in general are far more abundant and accessible than they used to be. There’s absolutely no reason a game that is solely digital should cost anywhere near $100. Yeah I think it just depends honestly, and at the end of the day consumers will decide. When a game like Elden Ring charges 70 bucks and isn't filled with MTX, I think most consumers are willing to pay such a premium for such a good game (as we saw by how well it did)

But when Skull and bones comes out for 70 bucks + day 1 season pass that makes it over 100 + MTX and the game itself has all kinds of problems, nobody wants to buy or engage with a game like that, and that's why we saw it flop

For as out of touch as big studios can be, at the end of the day they're just chasing whatever makes the most money, so if they end up making less money with those kinds of practices they'll stop doing it.

Except for coins terrain material. These are really needed in Enshrouded.

Shaders will always load when a new update comes out. They did list it as a known bug that it has been taking a while, but it won't ever completely go away.

Clear your shader cache, open the game and let the shaders run until it is completely done loading. You might be starting the game before it is 100% and that sometimes makes the shaders seem to restart the next time

How do you remove an Altar?

• Interact with E and Extinguish the Flame

And while exploring is also part of that, exploring is also separately important for finding resources, finding tombs and crypts to get new gear/have adventures, and find places that catch your eye for base building. Like, so much of the content is those two things
