My biggest issue with Nightingale, although keep in mind, I only started playing like about 2-3 months ago, is that the build tile sets are a bit wonky with how they snap together, especially the roofs, which makes making complex roofs (i.e. building something onther than a basic rectangular prism with a plain roof) a lot more difficult than it should be.

Enshrouded, despite the limitations with the roof tiles (mostly due to only having 45 degree slants), is far easier to work with to make nice looking roofs.

Exactly, and I mean a lot of people who play survivals do it specifically because it's something you can play offline solo. I have a buddy who travels a lot for work (like, from state to state), and because he doesn't always have the greatest wifi depending on where he is (and hotspots aren't a great connection), he has a collection of survivals on his laptop

Cannot be killed if you do properly fight, even vs. higher leveled enemies

Btw - as CUB said Resolution has the most impact on performance, but that is what DLSS is for. Use a lower resolution and up the DLSS quality. Also the biggest impact on VRAM usage is Texture resolution and the biggest eater of processing power of your GPU are lighting, shadow and fog effects.

but yeah - a 3070 will have issues trying to run on max settings - frankly a 4070 would too a little bit. It's just a balancing act. You just have to find settings that allow for a decent quality experience that also allows you to get an acceptable frame rate.

There are also several windows and GPU settings that can affect how your game performs as well. things like power settings, game priority, making sure your monitor refresh rate is set up accurately and disabling programs or features that could be interferring with the game or hogging GPU power, like overlays or lots of browser tabs.

I would go layer by layer, personally. Feels easier. But also remember you can use the terrain tool in the construction hammer to delete terrain instead of mining it by hand.
