The shroud is static, and does not move unless the devs change it's location specifically during an update.

There is currently a bug where some people are experiencing a temporary layer of mycelium that appears on their base that goes away on reboot of being hit by a pickaxe. Is this what you are talking about?

scyth can be tough if your not leveled and well geared but yeah it's a solo fight. Just avoid those blades she throws at you they hurt. Stand behind something and shoot her from there

While some people are able to run the game without issue on Steamdeck other still have issues. One of the (main, I'd say) reasons behind this is that the game itself currently requires at least 16gb of ram and 6gb of VRAM. Both Steamdeck and the ROG Ally have shared RAM and VRAM that can't quite fill both requirements. The devs have been working on it, as Malzian said, but it's going to take some time and a lot of optimization and creative workarounds to have it work flawlessly.

It still has the same issue. it has 16gb of ram that it shares between both RAM and VRAM. You can try setting aside 6gb of the ram for VRAM to see if that works, but it will still likely have issues with performance if it runs.

Building games like this, especially ones that allow terrain modification, always require more resources because as the buildings and modifications get larger, it requires more ram to load the games and the saves themselves.

The more you do in them, the larger the save gets and the larger the memory requirements.

What was the intended reason for durability in the game? It just seems to require me to return home to open the workbench whenever my weapon runs out of condition. Duribility seems to run out really quickly, for my level 19 Epic mace feels like it runs out after 3 or so major encounters with like 10+ enemies

Typically EA games the content updates are free up until v1.0, the only exception I’ve ever seen to this was Arks first dlc Scorched Earth and that space ship game that’s been in EA for like 12 years

Honestly Ellis. Mage nerf was a bit too harsh. Going full intellect for doing decent damage isn't really good feeling.
For me all 3 should be viable and have their weaknesses.
Mage totally should be a glass cannon and deal enough damage to deal with enemies. Archer should have Advantage with flexibility and agility. And Melee shouldn't stagger with every Melee hit.

But if you have high level and skills and fight low level enemies the stagger bar can fill quick

Its also hard to balance for people that 'run to late areas to get highest level gear early'

We are only in maybe 35% first area of the huge world atm, so we are testing around in an early duck-pond still ^^

Imo, more people should replay from start now and then in EA too,
Because they rely on older version feel of progression

So I have been watching the roadmap is the instance dungeons gonna be like Hollowed Halls? I keep feeling like there needs to be more revolving content like a dungeon that changes, either randomized, different bosses to fight within each time you join, different loot etc. Kinda like a paragon system to keep players busy while the game fully releases.

Funny thing LOTRO recently introduced both a landscape difficulty and difficulty for instances called Devlings. Both can be set to difficulty between 1 to 10. Where 10 is you're going to get your ass handed to you by squirrels.

It's tough because it would probably take a long time to build out that sort of system to keep players occupied until the release of the game. Doing that would delay it that much further and as much as many might enjoy it, others would rather content that actually leads up to release.

That very much feels like something that would be better to develop after release, to keep players enjoying the game when there isn't going to be regular content updates.

Yeah generally speaking those kind of "whole game modifier" type of things tend to work better later in development. If you implement them early, it means you need to account for those things every time you add something new, which can start to add up very quickly 😅

Yeah, as Toast mentioned, I imagine difficulty settings will come with time, but they've got regular balance work to do before doing sweeping difficulty changes.

Adding difficulty settings in makes the balance conversations much more challenging.

Monetization (beyond the box price obviously) isn't really on our radar much in general at this stage of development. We've definitely floated ideas around for what might eventually work if that's something we wanted to do, but at the moment we are very comfortable with how well the game is currently doing, so our focus has been on continuing to develop it and flesh it out/add more content.

Monetization is definitely weird in general these days, I know it has very negative connotations. Though at the end of the day it's how games get made and expanded with more content, development is extremely expensive.

Back in the days that relationship was much more obvious, developers released a DLC expansion with new content which you paid to play, if it did well they'd make another one. Very obvious lol. Now that relationship is much more obtuse and hard to see with things like cosmetics, but it's still there behind the scenes. If games keep making revenue, they keep getting updated.

But yeah right now our early access launch has been incredibly successful, so we're very happy with how things are going and don't really feel the need to push the envelope in that regard.

Unless you are spawning them in from an item mall, runes are always being used as a currency to upgrade weapons. At one point you have too many of them or not enough. Depending on the difficulty scale to make a sink for them it was a thought of mine to use runes to upgrade the alter to increse things within the game, IE loot, Difficulty, Scaling etc.

healing potions, mats for crafting, gear etc

It does take awhile to build up runes too. So I mean if I could go to a trader and buy a stack of logs for 200 runes or a healing potion for 25 runes it creates a currency sink

Well if you need to upgrade the alter to give a 2% difficulty or better loot drops for say 5000 it starts adding managment to how you want to use those runes.

Well the flame alter. So I was thinking I have say 10,000 runes I colected over a week. Your Idea of a vendor hey should we use them for materials or should we give the server a buff to have a 4% difficultly increase OR a 4% better loot chance.

We have used the flame alter to upgrade our shroud and stuff so it became a no brainer why not at the alter.

As i said best part is that its moderated by how the weapon quality is too, so if the server is fresh, you only get so many runes from destroying or if you decide you need the upgraded weapon over the runes so it puts the decision on you and your group.

This is actually what LOTRO does. They added a player Wallet some years back. Now all currency token and such go into your wallet. Cleared up some massive storage space for old players

Everyone I have seen on most servers have been good sports about it and it leaves the moderation to the server manager and discord etc. Keeping it hands off for the game developers them self
