Any tips for the best group play rules? Handful of friends going to start our first playthrough on a dedicated server soon, and I want to make sure no one feels like they are missing out. Found a reddit post from a few months ago saying that its pretty multiplayer friendly, but quest progression is server side, so we should wait until we're all online to do main quests? I saw a little tidbit in the server-faq, but not having played the game yet, not sure I understand what it was implying.

Not being present for quest line does feel a bit bad. Save the armor you get, share it, play different classes (except mage gear drops a plenty), hold onto sticks for your archer

Essentially right now, if someone plays separately from the rest of the group, they're able to progress quests without other player's involvement. Some people are bothered by this because they feel like they're missing out.

We will have more options for multiplayer settings in the next major update, I can't say what yet though.

I find fluid dynamics a very lacking environment variable from modern games. Minecraft does have about the only thing I could consider comparable to your needs, with volumes of water being a block with spread effect, instead of a global volumetric layer. Guess that wouldn't be too terrible.

Yeah for good reason, simulating fluid dynamics in real time is... Well it's not possible, you have to fake it. And even faking it it's extremely taxing, especially if voxels are involved.

Minecraft doesn't even have physics, it's just a series of "if this then that" checks for adjacent blocks

but it uttery messes with coastal regions being unreliably swamped

and its physical appearance is pretty terrible when it comes on land as well

Well the flame altar lines show you the cutoff for what will reset, but if you mean the distance at which the reset triggers, I believe it's variable. It's basically just once the area unloads and reloads

tbh, if your aiming for flat, I find just using the large flat building tool to level things out works

id say most building material choices come down to desired trim results. blocks have different trims as they interact with other blocks, and based on thickness. So like using the preset window wall piece for instance. take the 1x1x1 snippet and make the window bigger/smaller, you will see how it auto-readjusts. Ultimately youll find results you prefer over others depending on material used.

You can't. That's the thing.
You create a new, empty world. This world will have a certain file name.
You then take the saves of the world with unlimited resources and you change their name to that name of the new world you created earlier so that it overwrites it.

This is to make sure that the files original name isn't the same name as the one of your main world. It's a safety thing.

When you create your first world, it could be named a1, then world 2 is b2, then world 3 is c3. If you delete world 2 and remake it, it will still be called b2. So, if the resource world is the 2nd world, then it could replace your original 2nd world.

That's why you want to make a new world first, to see its name and use that name.

Actually, the one secret trap door in harvest homestead achieves the effect by being dim lighted and a bit of junk standing ontop of it / in the field of vision.
