Good day. I gave the game to my friend, but unfortunately I have one of those problems, because of which the game does not start. I'd really like to play Enshrouded with her, but there's a damn bug that won't let me run the game either on her computer or on her laptop.

I know that this error is very common and I have seen many reviews mentioning it. One or another error appears in a small window.

I don't want to return the game, I plan to wait for the problem to be solved.

I am not a native English speaker, so my search for information is somewhat complicated.

Please help me find some official comment from the development team regarding this bug where I can find out some other workarounds or information about the plans to solve it. For example, some post on Twitter, maybe in Discord. Thank you!

RE: your update: Yes, I just had a friend have to install GeForce Experience to ensure his drivers for his GPU would be up to date. That fixes issues with a lot of games.

Many modern games with good graphics, especially those that have raytracing options - require up to date graphics card drivers. Out of date drivers can cause conflicts with the operating system, directx, and cause very weird system behaviors and crashes. Modern games actually USE the GPU, most other things one does with the OS doesn't really use the gpu for much.

I'm no dev for this game, but I can report that I had a friend who was getting game crashes - but his drivers had NEVER been updated. Once he updated, the problem went away... mostly... no more crashing, but the GPU use is high (which is to be expected on his GPU which is a laptop gpu right at the line for the minimum requirements for the game)

Geforce Experience for nvidia cards, will not only help keep drivers updated, but will optimize game settings to your (or her) specific graphics card.

The Idea of Portal Knights is much like Enshrouded, a broken world...

The world of Portal Knights is called Elysia, it was fractured long ago and an ancient race built the portals to travel to different fractured pieces of Elysia. Your job as a Portal Knight is to find the Hollow King and rid Elysia of his evil and malice.

Along the way you will find many different cultures who have survived the fracture, including pirates! What do they do now there are no seas? Well it's hard to say but mostly bury and rebury their treasure.

There are also Hollow Knights. These are fallen Knights under the control of the Hollow King. Some say the Hollow King is controlled by a darker, more evil power but really will we ever find out? Unlikely unless Enshrouded does something with the portal at the Pillars of Creation.

To conclude, it's a great game with many islands to explore, enemies to defeat, some amazing things to build, and well a pretty interesting story.

just a small rant because i need to. But those Wraiths or whatever that are in the shroud and throw scythes and skull projectiles are the most imbalanced enemy in here. Im max level ranger and you cannot dodge the scythes without it taking 80% health and stunning. Its very aggravating

... On the topic of "wipes", we do not have any plans to force wipes at any time. However being early access and being that a LOT will change and be added to the game over time, we can't guarantee that there might not be a major update that requires old saves to break.

Also being that so much is changing, there is always the chance that an update might break old saves, so I recommend backing up saves you really care about if this would be something that is the end of the world for you as a player.

But yeah, we're not planning on intentionally doing this, but we also can't guarantee it will "never happen" either, since there's a lot of unknown variables in the future.

With the way the world is built, they expect most saves should be fine... unless you have something in an area that they change. But always be prepared for the possibility of losing it.

How do Altars/Flame Levels work?

Here is some quick guidance on how the Altars & Flame levels work in Enshrouded.

To remove an already placed altar, walk up to it, press E and press the “Extinguish Flame” button at the bottom.

• A 30-second timer then begins to run. During this period you can reverse the action taken.
• After these 30 seconds the altar disappears.
• The world flame level remains.
• No materials will be refunded
• The altar level is lost

⚠️ structures and items created by the player within the flame radius remain until the corresponding area is either left for 30 minutes or the player logs out. Everything in the former flame radius is then extinguished.

When designing this system, we believed that the best way to enjoy Enshrouded was with a group of friends who are all working cooperatively together. However, we know that having quests completed while one player is offline might feel bad for those who feel they are missing parts of the gameplay experience.

We designed Enshrouded as a co-op game. While working on it, we envisioned one group of friends experiencing the world together—sharing bases, resources, crafting recipes, and loot.

Furthermore, we wanted players to be able to play together meaningfully with different groups of friends and on different servers. We developed a game environment where a new player could join a long-running server and jump into the same action as their friends. Skipping the “tutorial” server quests to instead learn through conversation and cooperation, uniting the group.

Our reasoning was that players shouldn’t feel forced to participate in quests. Our player base is diverse, after all. Not everyone is bound to enjoy our combat or puzzles as much as building a base or exploring. If some players in a group want to focus on building or farming, while others are going on adventures, both making meaningful progress for the group, that should be fine.

However, we are now exploring ways to implement the following options for player-based quest progression. Here’s a quick overview:
We want to offer an option to be able to personally complete every quest.
We want to improve the Quest Log to better communicate the state of each quest in terms of server vs personal progression....
