Hi, I can't stream any window in any resolution and fps above 720p/30fps. Fake Nitro is enabled, and the emojis are working. The stream quality bug happened for me only few days back, and then both weren't working. Today, I fiddled with settings of the plugin, and enabled everything. Emojis work now, but stream quality is fixed at 720p/30fps. I am on Nobara 42, with a 1650TI GPU, if thats relevant.

Hi, why when I talk to Vesktop does it adjust the volume of my microphone and it constantly decreases when I talk, there is no such problem with the original client.

It's been quite some time, but I thought I'll rejoin the server and share what I did 😄
Quick recap - I had an issue with Stardew Valley sound not being picked up by Vesktop, I also noticed Minecraft is not being picked up either. But with Minecraft I also had a crackling sound issue so I looked for solution and found this: https://www.reddit.com/r/allthemods/comments/1eoia4j/arch_linux_crackling_audio_solution_included/

Lo and behold - it not only fixed the crackling sound, but it also fixed the sound pickup by Vesktop! Don't know much about how this works, but my understanding would be that Stardew is also not using the proper sound backend, so it is not picked up by Vesktop, even if it works. All I needed to do was create a ~/.alsoftrc file with two lines and after a PC restart it all works great!

Screen sharing just doesn't seem to work /at all/ for me.
Click the button, select a window (Or screen), and then... nothing.
And once I do that, until I completely restart Vesktop, clicking the screen share button doesn't even do anything (Doesn't let me select a window or anything anymore).

I'm on Nobara linux if that makes a difference, if any other info is needed I'm gonna need to be guided to it 'cause I'm bad at linux 😅

run vesktop from command line to get errors

but it should just work out of the box on nobara, unless you tweaked it and did something like switching desktop environment

fedora uses the rpm package manager whose packages are called rpm

rpm files are basically like windows installers

you can download and double click them and then the package manager will ask you to install it

When using the WebScreenShareFixes plugin my mic works fine until I start sharing my camera with the screenshare. My mic, again, will go to only the left ear for the people I'm talking with. I believe it fixes itself once the camera is off from when I was testing it last night. At least it doesn't do it when I am just screensharing like it used to be. Edit: Yeah my mic fixes once I turn my camera off, very weird.

Hello, I have a problem with vesktop.
If screen share is enabled, I can't be heard, my microphone doesn't work well, my microphone is interrupted until there is sound on screen share, for example youtube videos. This happens infrequently. archlinux, hyprland, wayland, easyeffects (Chromium is excluded from sound processing as people can hear themselves on my screen share. The microphone is handled)

There's also a bug like this: if the vesktop window is small, what happens in the video happens.

There is also a problem with hyprpicker. When I click on the screen share button, hyprpicker appears, I select screen 1 in it, then a window from vesktop appears, where I select settings, click Go Live, then hyprpicker appears 2 more times, in total 3 times.

After selecting screen 1, when I just clicked on the screen share button, sometimes the vesktop window with settings and Go Live button does not appear. It helps to wait a bit, but sometimes it doesn't appear at all, only restarting linux helps. Screenshot hyprpicker sent.

My problem is that Vesktop is moving where I am by itself. When I get a PM, am pinged, or an event start, I'm automatically moved to the concerned chanel, or in the event stage.

It's very hit or miss (but usually miss) for me. It'll especially report a good bitrate when I start streaming alone in a call but as someone joins, it drops.

It didn't happen to me when I tried Firefox but that was at least a year ago, if not more so it very well could now. But the stream there was definitely slower because Firefox doesn't support hardware accelerated encoding on Linux.

Nope, the issue has been open for many years with no new developments. Doesn't seem to be planned. So you're entirely reliant on your CPU performance for the CPU encoding

After a short while I begin to get spammed with this NVRM: dmaAllocMapping_GM107: can't alloc VA space for mapping. then the error above triggers, causing the vesktop window to blank out and crash. Requiring a complete vesktop restart. This only happens while streaming.

Hi! Having issues installing Vesktop specifically; haven't reached Vencord working or not working yet
I'm on arch (wayland niri, xwayland-satellite is working correctly), and installed vesktop-bin from the aur. It asked me for electron37, so I installed electron37-bin.
Then when I launch it from the terminal, I get a popup saying “Failed to load discord” and the following input:

I have tried looking at the faq linked in #info, but it's all questions about vencord specifically
The wiki says “hi” lmao which is very cute but not useful haha

Searched for downloadPromise in this forum, nothing came up

Hello! I'm using vesktop on nobara plasma 6 and I have OnePingPerDm installed, but im not getting the notif badge number thing on my taskbar, no matter where I am pinged. This seems to be a known issue as there is a github thread about it but i cant find a fix that works and i cant find it in the known issue list.

Of note is that i am permanently on do not disturb. It worked fine with discord canary beforehand

there could be a million reasons, we can't really help you with that

if your system is suddenly instantly turning off that might be a hardware issue (e.g. faulty power supply)

if it's instead crashing/freezing it might be a driver issue or running out of ram etc

you'll have to figure it out yourself

On the normal Discord client, the system tray icon gets a dot on it (usually green or red, depending on if you're on do not disturb or not) whenever you get a new message or a ping.

Vesktop doesn't do this, as far as I know.

I have a feeling it hasn't been implemented yet because most people just pin the icon to their dock or taskbar, where the badge (I assume) already works.

i don't know if any of y'all have similar issues, but whenever i screenshare within vesktop (havent tested on web tho), my screenshare has a tendency to break for people if i'm not streaming at the default 720p 30fps
i noticed that even though if i select like 1080p 60fps it still displays 720p 30fps for me and apparently some weird resolution & fps for others? i have 0 clue what's causing it but this has been a regression i had for months

Client modifications are against Discord's Terms of Service.

However, Discord is pretty indifferent about them and there are no known cases of users getting banned for using client mods! So you should generally be fine as long as you don't use any plugins that implement abusive behaviour. But no worries, all inbuilt plugins are safe to use!

Regardless, if your account is very important to you and it getting disabled would be a disaster for you, you should probably not use any client mods (not exclusive to Vencord), just to be safe

Additionally, make sure not to post screenshots with Vencord in a server where you might get banned for it

This is over ssh with X forwarding without a valid $DISPLAY. If I set $DISPLAY to :0 by running DISPLAY=:0 vesktop, it runs as it should, appearing on :0.

xdg-desktop-portal should be enough by itself to get vesktop to open a filepicker. Although I would recommend using a combination of portal backends according to your window manager or desktop environment. On River for example I use the wlr and gtk backends. I have a config file which sets the preferred order in which those will be used.

The file is in ~/.config/xdg-desktop-portal. The is named river-portals.conf, you need to swap the river part for your window manager if you use one.

Vesktop Fails DTLS Handshake for VoIP over VLESS+Reality VPN Tunnel

Description:
The Vesktop client is unable to establish a voice connection (stuck in an infinite DTLS handshake loop) when the system's traffic is routed through a VLESS+XTLS-Reality VPN tunnel. This issue makes voice communication completely unusable. The problem is isolated specifically to Vesktop, as other clients and scenarios work perfectly.
Steps to Reproduce:

• Set up a standard VLESS+XTLS-Reality server on any hosting provider (tested on FirstVDS and Aeza).
• On a client machine (tested on both Windows 11 and Arch Linux), install the official Nekoray or v2rayN client and connect to the VPN server.
• Install the official Discord client. Connect to a voice channel. Result: Voice connection is established instantly and works flawlessly.
• Disconnect from the voice channel. Close the official Discord client.
• Launch Vesktop.
• Attempt to connect to the exact same voice channel.
  Expected Result:
  The DTLS handshake completes successfully, and voice communication is established, same as in the official client.
  Actual Result:
  The client gets stuck in a "Connecting DTLS..." state indefinitely. No voice audio is transmitted or received. However, watching video streams from other users in the same channel often works, indicating a specific failure in UDP/DTLS session establishment, not a total connection loss.

Having issues with screensharing on Vesktop. There seems to be continuous "volume fluctuations" while streaming, with the shared audio. It doesn't happen with vanilla Discord, only with Vesktop. Using vesktop-bin from aur, Arch Linux. This happens when either me or my partner stream. I tried resetting Vesktop to see if it was a plugin or anything causing it, but it is still doing it. I have a proposed solution: in the state file, if fullscreen=1 and there is a number for display ID, ignore the dimensions. Do not read it, and do not write to it.

What I think can be causing the problem is that the initial launch fails to register the display array as a grid, and assumes that only 0x0 can ever exist. This can explain why restarts launch in the correct display, but never after system startup.

In fact, the X and Y dimensions should be left blank (no value), and only be written when it is non-fullscreen. When it is set back to fullscreen, the dimensions are wiped.

Does anyone know what might be causing an issue where, while screen sharing, a black horizontal line flickers across the screen every so often? Sometimes it's not so bad, and sometimes it flickers CONSTANTLY, essentially rendering the stream unwatchable.

I am using an Nvidia RTX 3070 on open source drivers. Though the same thing happens on closed source.

The issue happens whether hardware acceleration is on or off, doesn't seem to make a difference.

1. Install ResHacker (this allows you to modify exe files. In this case, Vesktop.exe)
2. I copied the app.ico for discord into the vesktop install folder
3. I wrote a batch script to use ResHacker to swap out the icon for Vesktop with discords and also placed that into the vesktop install directory
4. Double click batch file and enjoy 👍 👍

Hello, ARRPC isn't working on flatpak Vesktop on Arch Linux for my friend. I heared permissions need to be enabled in flatseal? Does anyone know what those are? What I usually do is input "npx arrpc" (in terminal) before opening Vesktop but that doesn't seem to work for my friend. They don't get the green notification at that top that says "couldn't connect to ARRPC [Retry]"

They do have the setting on though and they reinstalled vesktop so I'm not sure what the issue could be

If y'all recommend the AUR version then I can try that instead

A bit confusing but i understand it now, Cinnamon is X11 by default, and unsurprisingly X11 supports the relevant portal, the wayland implementation is this "xapp" which supports almost nothing cuz it's new etc, so my best bet seems to be x11 and waiting for compatibility

it's not that x11 supports the portal, it's that x11 doesn't have the concept of portals like wayland does

X11 is a permissive desktop that allows apps to do whatever they want, like on Windows

Wayland is much more restrictive and acts as a sandbox essentially. Apps don't have direct access to things like screencast, it's done via portals

these are basically bridges for the app to communicate with the desktop environment

and you need a backend to actually implement these bridges in your desktop, that's what the xdg-desktop-portal does
