If you see such an error when using VencordInstaller, chances are you are experiencing network issues. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve the issue:

1. Check your connection

Are you on a school or work network? If yes, hop off that network and connect to your home Wi-Fi.
If that is not the case:

Can you even connect to the internet in the first place? Try going on https://google.com and https://github.com.

If none of them load, you have an issue with connecting to the internet. Make sure that you're actually connected before trying again.
If both/one of them load, your network provider may be blocking access to Vencord/the GitHub API. This is very likely if you are in a country known to control internet access. In this case, go to step 2.

2. Change your DNS servers

-# The DNS system is a system that relates domain names (google.com) to IP addresses (192.348.19.2). By default, you are probably using your Internet Service Provider (ISP)'s DNS servers, which gives them control over these domain-IP relations, allowing them to block traffic as they'd like. You'll want to change your DNS to third-party ones.
The recommended option is Cloudflare DNS. The main/primary IP is 1.1.1.1 and the alternate/secondary IP is 1.0.0.1.

• 🪟 On Windows, follow this tutorial, then press Win + R and run the ipconfig /flushdns command.

3. Check your hosts file

-# The hosts file allows you to define arbitrary domain-IP mappings on your local system. These take precedence over any DNS server or VPN, but chances are you have none set. Still it can be a great idea to check! If you ever installed cracked software, chances are you were instructed to add things to your hosts file at some point.
You'll want to look for any GitHub related rule and remove it by simply clearing their lines. If you don't want to make use of a hosts file, simply remove all entries except the ones binding 127.0.0.1/::1 to localhost.

• 🪟 On Windows, open Notepad as administrator and from Notepad, open the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file. DO NOT OPEN THE FILE FROM THE FILE EXPLORER ITSELF. USE THE "Open" OPTION IN NOTEPAD

4. Use a VPN

The block might not be simply DNS related, in which case you'll need a VPN to obfuscate your traffic from your ISP. Riseup VPN and Proton VPN are two free ones. You can also use another VPN if these do not work, or you already pay for one. From there it's a matter of trying and seeing which will work.

Until earlier today i had Vencord as its own program on my PC. that way i was able to use discord and vencord simultaniously, which has been pretty important for me, as i sometimes need to see multiple servers at one etc.
now i did the mistake and deinstalled Vencord while cleaning my SSD from junk data.
somehow vencord now only can be installed as a injection into the normal discord, and doesnt install the program itself anymore?

Hello, My vencord has just gone now for no reason and when i click repair i also tried reinstalling windows (I even deleted discord from %appdata% and %localappdata% and restarted the computer) and yet i can't still install vencord

Is there a real way to stop Discord from deleting private message chats?

I understand there's a limit on private messages, about 50 chats. Or maybe there's some kind of timer, I don't know. After using Discord for 7 years, I keep finding that private messages are lost and have to be reopened (and due to my problems, I forget who I love and who I'm talking to).

Again, is it possible to prevent this?
I used the "DM categories" plugin, but it doesn't help either. I don't know what's wrong.

Regardless, if your account is very important to you and it getting disabled would be a disaster for you, you should probably not use any client mods (not exclusive to Vencord), just to be safe

Additionally, make sure not to post screenshots with Vencord in a server where you might get banned for it

I'm on the latest version, the showhiddenchannels plugin is being buggy - I have it set to show with the lock icon and this is what I'm seeing (this example is a ttrpg server where each channel is just for the player and dm - I have access to the "jo" channel and have that selected, I don't have access to any other ones). Upon changing the icon to the other one and restarting, then back again and restarting, I can no longer see one of the channels but can see the other two. The three channels I should be seeing with the plugin are identical aside from a different player ahving access to each one.

I just restarted and it's back to being like the first image

okay so
ever since the recent "outage" or whatever, voice chats broke for me
i connect to a vc, RTC connected and all, but i cannot hear anyone, buit they can hear me tho

i tried deleting the discord app, fresh install (still the same issue), install vencord via terminal, try to see if fixed, still failed
connect to a vc in the browser (no vencord applied n all), RTC disconnected

Posting again since I still need help with this. Betterfolders is not showing icons for servers despite the folder being closed, which is when it should be showing such. I've tried disabling every plug-in (except betterfolders), reinstalling vencord, wiping vencord settings, having all themes and custom CSS disabled, and it still does it. I've also wiped all discord settings as well. All themes are disabled. All the settings of the plugin are correct as well.

Additionally, the problem resolves if I have the "Keep Icons" setting on, or I have "Show Folder Icon" to anything but "Never", however I wish to keep them set the same as always since the icons not appearing while the folders are closed is not intentional. It seems there's a bug in the way it displays under this set of settings. (Again, please reply with a ping if anyone is trying to help with this issue!)
