Why is my Discord laggy?

The most common cause of lag is poorly written CSS.

To see if this is the case for you, try temporarily disabling all themes and your QuickCSS.

If that indeed fixes the lagging, you'll have to figure out which theme / part of your QuickCSS is causing the lag.Just slowly remove parts of it until it doesn't lag anymore.

Client modifications are against Discord's Terms of Service.

However, Discord is pretty indifferent about them and there are no known cases of users getting banned for using client mods! So you should generally be fine as long as you don't use any plugins that implement abusive behaviour. But no worries, all inbuilt plugins are safe to use!

Regardless, if your account is very important to you and it getting disabled would be a disaster for you, you should probably not use any client mods (not exclusive to Vencord), just to be safe

Additionally, make sure not to post screenshots with Vencord in a server where you might get banned for it

I too would like a plugin to reverse these recent changes.

Discord used to load 50 messages upon switching to a channel with unread messages, and increments of 50 more upon scrolling up. They changed that a couple weeks ago to be 30/30, which was annoying but something I could cope with. Now it's a pathetic 12/24.

@spare pagoda I presume channels being automatically marked as read is a related issue, as I've experienced much the same. Seems to be that the 12-message limit can just barely fit on my monitor if they're all single-line, catching me up to the latest message, and Discord presumes that means I've read all I wanted to read.

Both the unread message changes and the accompanying quirk it has presumably brought has made catching up on conversations a much bigger pain in the butt than it really needs to be.

Hey! I've been using Vencord for a long time, but I recently switched to macOS. I noticed that when I screen share, viewers can't hear any system audio.

Vencord seems to have broken DAVE E2EE/the voice end to end encryption for me on Linux (Kubuntu 25.10), running the Discord .deb package with Vencord patched in.
When I join a voice channel I hear nothing, can't join any video streams. I check the debug and every single packet fails decryption.

Maybe I'm not being clear.
I'm aware of the new requirements, that's how I even knew where to begin looking.
I have the latest deb installed and, unmodified, the Discord client can decrypt packets just fine in a voice channel.
I wiped the install and reinstalled completely vanilla to confirm.
Then, when I patched in Vencord, whether I have plug-ins active or not, suddenly the client can't do that anymore. Same channel, same call, same people in it.
Therefor, Vencord must break something
