Yeah discord is pretty aggresive with its breaking updates, and vencord has to be on top of pushing fixes, I can see how even a small delay would cause an ongoing stream of issues.

1. Vencord is not backwards compatible, we focus the latest Discord version and there is no guarantee it will work on older versions
2. You cannot pin Discord. The Discord desktop app version is irrelevant, it just loads the discord.com website. you will get the latest version of discord even with an ancient desktop app (but native features will not work properly)

this is why no mod can ever be 100% stable. we have active tracking of every plugin that instantly detects breakages (#1337479880849362994 / #1337479816240431115) and try to fix issues within 24h. but you need to always update to get fixes that fast, that's why we don't recommend using the Vencord Nix package and instead use official installation (or install from source via git) and optimally enable autoupdate

Yeah, I actually personally plan on writing a new package that is just a wrapper which fetches vencord and places it in a mutable location, allowing for much more stable vencord on nixos. I know y'all aren't a fan of Nix for several reasons haha. Also I think you meant the vencord nixpkgs package. The only flake that provides vencord is Nixcord, but very few people use it, most just use the package in nixpkgs.
I appreciate the information, thank you lots.

If I have some questions about how vencord does some specific things, where should I ask it? They will be lean more toward development questions, so I'm unsure if you would want them polluting this channel.

i dont really know how nix works but if you can just clone the source code and build with git in a mutable location (and have the app itself have access to binaries like git and nodejs), it is able to update itself via git

it wouldnt show the role names in the leaderboards and i cant look at permissions
i have tried to uninstall vencord and test out plain discord and it works perfectly fine (except for permissions cuz its for vencord only)
and it only happens when vencord is installed, ill try reinstalling discord and will update but it genuinely confuses me.
Edit: everything else pretty much works, the role color everywhere, show hidden channels, no blocked messages.
Edit #2: i did reinstall discord and the issue is still present. i have also not been messing around with the plugins which is really confusing

FINAL EDIT:

ive found out what makes this bugged out, If you have the same issue go to the settings for the plugin RoleColorEverywhere, and unselect the memberlist until the next update as it is broken atm.
