Are there any hints as to what the world outside of the VR game (The Finals Arenas) looks like? We know there is heavy corporate control and suppression of an individual(s) collectively known as CNS.

Terminal Attack was just a thematic showcase of CNS trying to hack into the systems running THE FINALS. They aren't actually having agents running in trying to decrypt terminals, it's just more interesting than what's actually happening, which is CNS hacking into the systems while VAIIYA desperately tries to stop them. That's my take on it anyway.

My thought is that it's a way to make more money as hiring VAIIYA and resetting the system was presumably expensive. VAIIYA wasn't even really a sponsor for S2, they were just advertised as that to not draw attention to CNS and their hacks.

Most of them yeah, but it does seem like there is some leeway for services. OSPUZE sells energy drinks, ISEUL-T sells fashionwear, VOLPE sells VR Tech. DISSUN is a energy company, VAIIYA probably also sells consumer level anti-virus and things like that, HOLTOW is a insurance company.

But nah, I don't think there is any real significance to it. I would honestly just assume each trophy in the real arena games are tied to their actual contestants player model.

Actually I just realized... how old is The Finals? Like.. in-universe.. how long has this gameshow existed? We know Scotty was an exceptional contestant in his time... assuming he started young.. 18-20 years old and retired and became a cohost... he's probably now in his late 30s to 40s because althetes usually retire in their 30s assuming this hasn't changed in 100 years.. The Finals has to be at the minimum 10-20 years old

I feel like Embark consistently forgets about making sure there's continuity in their game 🥲 a lot of themed events obviously makes sense to us in 2024 but they forget we're suppose to be watching this from the perspective of people living in 2100...

E.g. the whole theme of S2 is not "80s nostalgia" to people in 2100

The smoking guns event also didn't feel a certain way to us.. like old timey cowboy movies were trending in like the 1940s or 50s or so with the black and white picture... I don't think people in 2100 would feel the same way we do in terms of "oh cool it's all black and white like back then" whereas the Gen Z equivalent of folks in 2100 would probably have never ever heard of black and white pictures lol

Maybe they did maybe they didn't.. but ultimately Finals' themeing imo kinda fails to center us, the player, in a way where we're looking back at our own time as far-future contestants

Our time and everything we consider as modern is historical to the contestants... and every thing we consider historical is practically ancient to the contestants too

my thought is that the las vegas map, set in 2032, has a distant building shaped like a ball with the finals logo on it (it has a name idk what), might have actually been there in 2032. ik maps are manipulated to have finals branding but this one seems so far away from the visible playing field that it mightve been there to begin with. that would mean it started maybe around 2027-30 and, given our current strides in vr technology, its not too far out of the realm of possiblity.

Sure it can, because the people in 2100 didn't get to experience it. There will always be this longing feeling to experience the past in one way or another. The overall themes of the 80s and Wild West themes could definitely live on far into the future. Probably not in the same aspect that we romantize them now. Probably in a more remixed manner. We don't really know the real ramifications of the internet until maybe another 10-20 years from now. Because of it and the VR tech of their world, I am positive they would look back, take, remix and keep old tradition themes of certain eras going.

75 years ago we couldn't always keep track of things and 75 years from now we definitely can. The long terms effects of recording things, saving them, sharing them makes a big impact.

There is a LOT of stuff people have found but we haven't connected it all together. (The main EE yolks are more focused on the ARG). But as it is lore the progress will be slow

But, the more you read the more you learn about amazing references. (official community Wiki is a great place to start)

the dates have been very specific in terms of years, but vague in their meaning. there’s very little evidence for us to draw conclusions about them - and this applies to lore in general for the game imo

There is deep lore to this game it’s just not completely obvious to the average player and the connections still need to be made. This is where SPEAR’s videos have helped me but also RockHoundBlack’s for bringing the potential inspirations to my attention.

But this is why I also constantly hope for more lore vignettes or in our face stuff. That draws more people in, and without the manpower, the secrets are still secret.

On a different note, I wanted to talk about The Finals and it's relationship to the world... I'm going to assume based on the names of most of the companies and sponsors.. The Finals is at least based in North America? We know this gameshow has influence across the whole world, being the "world's greatest gameshow" yet we don't really see any referenece to other cultures? No reference to country flags, all the clothes available to the contestants don't really represent or reflect culturally significant clothing (other than like the Japanese stuff, but this gameshow isnt about just Japan lol)... even the emotes, sprays, taunts, sounds, all dont really pay significant homage to other cultures either... for a show with global reach... there's very little meaningful representation of other cultures

I don't know if this is Embark just... missing out on this.... or its somehow intentional...

I will note ive noticed The Finals game's *assets are pretty well optimized. Low poly one might say. If you look at the Turret, you can kind of see the "rounded" edges that aren't so round. Or like Monaco roof tiles are just 1 texture, yet look 3d.

Oh I’ve definitely watched all of SPEAR’s multiple times lol. Skyway has a bunch of dioramas. I’ve heard theories that SYS resembles the Smithsonian district and others in similar diorama fashion. And embark likes to tour places before creating them. But I still think my point stands that it’s a voxel map, not meant to be anywhere in the real world. It is a virtual game show after all.

This is true, but I feel like a key difference between the Finals and Elden Ring is the fact that, while Elden Ring does have lore which is somewhat elusive, it is actually quite substantial once uncovered.
With the finals, the lore is quite tenuous- MAYBE CNS is connected to Sponsors, MAYBE there’s something nefarious about the OSPUZE formula. But the lack of solid lore is what really diminishes the potential for using lore as a marketing tactic.

THE FINALS is a world famous gameshow set around 75 years in the future, in the 22nd century, where people regularly use VR technology. VR use is so extensive, that people have labelled the real world as 'the meatspace'. The VR technology appears to be ran by MultiCo, a company which may have origins in the 80s. It may also be that the finals is ran by MultiCo itself.

THE FINALS allows contestants to compete for fame, money and the eye of the Sponsors, who could take them on to help them make more money. THE FINALS is commentated by a former contestant named Scotty, a man who has allegedly played a match where he was uncontested, and was never eliminated, and June, a relative mystery compared to Scotty. June is driven by data, occasionally quipping while Scotty carries most of the heavy lifting of in-match announcements. Another voice, simply known as the Announcer, commentates in the background.

THE FINALS was recently hacked by an organisation, or an individual, known as CNS. CNS likely stands for Central Nervous System, and true motivations haven't been fully acknowledged yet.

After the CNS attacks, it appears that there is an AI that is able to take people from the virtual world, and create replicas of real life locations throughout time, for contestants to fight in. This was shown to happen immediately after Vaiiya, a season sponsor, broke in and attempted to shut the AI down. This happened with Kyoto 1568. It is unknown if other arenas were created this way.
