Oh.. off-topic a bit but was thinking in-universe, sure there's a lot of players.. but I'm convinced, at most, there's only 48 contestants in the whole gameshow.. just based on the fact every time we play, we get shuffled between 16 team names, names that were created by the contestants themselves after they were qualified and created thier own names.. as for us, the players, we essentially roleplay a contestant from any one of these teams
in-universe, there's only 48 contestant "characters"... if that makes sense

The guns, explosions, deaths, and action is entirely digital, all the fun without any of the mess. The Finals is funded by several mega companies as the show's sponsors; many contestants will fight for their recognition in hopes of securing brand endorsement deals while also fighting for huge cash prizes out in the arena.
