i do agree that damage numbers are better than percentages though, just keep in mind the falloff applies to both headshots and body shots so you’d need two results (whereas percentage applies to both)
and reconsidering, a slider would not be good, as it means you are forced to use the slider just to discover the range of falloff
a small graph would also be cool
the reason i liked the 3 values is because we can include it on the Infobox and anyone can update it easily if they have the values
also like Limoen said, you can read the info fast without having to figure out anything

I didn't do manual pump, mostly because it is not the preferred method and is not default

Because if I fire the lewis gun and SA1216 for a minute stratight, I would take the damage output of that and divide it by 60, that's the 'real world' DPS
I think in this case Lewis gun outperforms on DPS
even the All in one spreadsheet does not have falloff information 😔
also guess i should mention the sledgehammer says "backstab 1 shot" but that's just a crit/overhead swing not a backstab

why do you need to see it? What is the most important is the effective range, where TTK starts dropping. So we need to see 1 number only. Everything else to range is not important, because you need to learn how to stay within the effective range, not how far it drops.
And it's mostly linear across the games I played for the last like 15 years. I would be very surprised if they make it non-linear (not sure why would they ever do it)
It's how other games show the weapons stats - range is the max range before falloff
i don't know what you are arguing against exactly. that message you replied to is about damage, not range. yes the wiki lists the range but of course it will also list other relevant numbers.
in that message, i explained that if maximum damage falloff were shown as damage instead of a percentage, you would need to distinguish between regular and crit damage. your answer is about range though.

it was just points againts the slider. It's not practical imho and I haven't seen it in similar spreadsheets for other games.
if you mean the next message, a slider that shows how much damage is dealt whenever the user inputs a certain range, is not that helpful, as the most helpful number (range) is the range at which falloff begins, as you said, and after that the range at which falloff stops. but with a slider you can only see one number at a time.
I would argue you don't need to show the RANGE for falloff. Just max range for optimal TTK

well, unfortunately we don’t have a hotline to Embark (as far as i know) so i just test in the practice range!
For the falloff range distance, i’ll fire a shot at the dummy and make a note of the amount of health notches that it took as damage, e.g. 2.3 notches. Then i kill the dummy.
Then i step back 10 meters and try again, until the amount of lost notches becomes lower than 2.3.
If this happens at 50m, i would carry out additional tests between 40m and 50m until i find the exact point where damage falloff begins.
I’ll use the same process but inverted for the max falloff range.
I plot out the results of each of my distance tests between those distances, and that will allow me to approximate the damage falloff function. The numbers are then slightly rounded based on what would be realistically implemented.

@lapis kindle Would you like it if the 'list of gadgets' page used Embark's renders for the equipment pages? personally i feel like these may be a better representation of how embark intended for the gadgets to look as icons, instead of trying to squish the transparent screenshot into that small box. If they look like the icons in the game people may recognize them better. Of course the image on the actual page would still be a transparent screenshot.
I know you intended to take new screenshots at some point, so if you do think that using a small screenshot of the model would look better than the in-game icon, then we could at least use these modern icons until you find the time to make those new screenshots, after which you simply revert the page. For now the page looks outdated either way. if you do think using embark's renders would look good, then this would save you some time as i have collected all of those icons from the game already.

You can create multiple contestants associated with either the Light, Medium, or Heavy Build. Each Build has a unique selection of specializations, weapons and gadgets.
i think all we need is the .png for the new specializations’ infoboxes
Just keep in mind that the images on the pages are still old in many places. e.g. the stun gun has an image of the yellow Stun gun from Beta . so those still need updating at some point!

if you want, i could also work on an image processor, which accurately removes the background from the in-game render view, as this would make it easy to generate new images for the infoboxes like you said.
i also created an image processing script for the levelup reward Icons, otherwise it would have been much more time consuming.
but: if there is another method you are already using to get these transparent renders, then i would be happy to hear about it.
any method is fine by me as long as it works for your intended purposes. usually if it’s a one time thing i mask it myself
feel free to develop the images as you like, as long as they work for the infoboxes and visually follow the style of the ones we already have

trying to derive its TTK in multiple scenarios
nevermind. just did my own testing. 1.1 seconds is what I've approximated.
it takes a whole 2 seconds to fire 5 shots into a Heavy to kill him. That's 1.1s for the magazine rotation in between shots + 0.9s total time spent shooting.
Just checking, are we planning on moving these to the new cosmetics home page button?
right now it directs straight to wiki/Cosmetics, which is just 1 of 6
There is a plan to make a TP (transition page) for it but just trying to think of the most efficient way of doing it.
Career rewards and battlepass will probably move to the soon to come XP/Progression TP and then we may move the Cosmetics page contents itself to all be on the TP instead of having a separate page for it, so it'll look something like
but that also leaves the problem that due to the current Cosmetics page taking years to load due to the amount of pictures on it, it may take a while for the TP to load if we make it so all cosmetics are on the TP

It might be worth doing something like loadouts, where your met with various pages when you click load outs. So clicking cosmetics could have a "page" for each catagory or combine a few of them. It'll still take ages to load the pages that have more then others and in the future as more cosmetics get added it'll only get worse but it might be a bandaid fix for now

i've determined falloff range/ratio's for the SR84 and the R.357, other than that I think AKM/FCAR had them already and other than that i think there's barely any weapons that have this info documented
i haven't found anyone researching it for all the weapons atm

nope, didn't have time to do that for all the guns, i just tested if dmg fell off at certain ranges
i did find out that LH1 somehow has a falloff start as far as the SR-84, starting at 80m
for the shotguns i tried to compare the damage of hitting just one shot, but only on the model 1887 was i able to notice some falloff, on the others i'm not actually sure
it's hard to hit just one shot at such a long distance
i need a team of 6 to use private matches

Although Embark provides the community wiki with servers, the wiki has its own account data bank. So you simply create a new account, you just need an email, username and password.

Just wanted to make sure how Motion Sensor works for Heavy Build, but i find out that it is working very good with Light Build Cloaking ability.
Basically overview and uses states that it is still Light Build Gadget.

Basically it changes the text to say 'in-universe' rather than 'in-game ...' , and it adds more appropriate images (in my opinion.) (the current characters image is just some in-game outfits and not related to the characters, so it looks a bit uninteresting.). you could preview this source and see if you like it.

@wooden herald found some rpm values and did some math on ttk values etc for the burst weps, might be relevant to the wiki
they still need to do some more testing but i think based on what we talked about the dps and rpm values are tricky to simplify into 1 number like the wiki has
but the rpm of the burst and teh delay are two seperate values, the one on the wiki for the 93r shows the rpm for the burst delay, not an overall rpm
which can be confusing
RPM for burst delay makes no sense either
unless the devs just coded the weapons that way
I think the lecture hall area (like in the picture) is pretty fun, but the big plaza in the corner (with a metal sphere) I don't like either, it's unfortunate that a cashout can spawn all the way in the corner.
Fighting indoors is fun but 99% of the time something important is in that area it’s just people shooting at each other from 100m away
Whenever I get the time to sit down, I'll be finalizing the 93R and FAMAS fire rate stats (hardest to figure out due to how fast the guns fire during their burst)
isn't the dps calculable by simply multiplying the bullet damage by the amount of bullets in a burst, i.e. 3?, before doing the regular dps calculation?

First off
- DPS doesn't matter, since none of the weapons have infinite fire rate for dealing continuous damage over time. TTK is more practical.
- If you really need a DPS value, then for burst weapons, it's calculated with
DPS = damage_per_burst / (burst_time_in_seconds + time_between_bursts_in_seconds)
I guess, just going off what the wiki currently lists, which is DPS. yes, TTK would be helpful, although its pretty circumstantial with headshots and dropoff and stuff. I guess you'd assume the person is firing at the body from close up, as with the current DPS stat?

Lewis if you want mid-range potency with fast kill time, but lower uptime than M60
M60 if you're OK with slightly slower kill time than Lewis, but high uptime for back-to-back close-to-mid-range fighting.
in general, choosing between M60 vs. Lewis is like choosing between AKM vs. FCAR, but the gap is MUCH closer.

It’s funny because m60 is meant to have a faster ttk than Lewis but it falls off immediately and the raw ttk difference is negligible
m60 having a faster ttk is stupid, similar range, faster ttk and more ammo would just make it dumb to use the lewis
lewis gun range is like 100x further than m60 thats the point of the weapon. you're meant to sacrifice dps and ammo for range. but the dps difference is negligible
the m60 falls off after like legitimately 7 meters
and then the lewis kills faster

what I measured for M60 vs. Lewis
again, basically AKM vs. FCAR, Heavy edition
but the gap between their damage output is much closer
M60 always kills slower but only by around 50ms against another Heavy (which is still a "whoever shoots first wins" situation with the current fire rates)

League and Rank are effectively interchangeable terms. "Rank" is often used to casually refer to your sub-league, like "hey what rank are you?" -- but only leagues and sub-leagues actually exist in-game.

the trivia section for the CL40 is slightly incorrect in the wiki.
although the CL-40 is modeled after a china lake grenade launcher, it is actually modeled after a modernized version by Airtronic
a key difference is the picatinny rails that can be seen along the top
those do not exist on the version of the china lake grenade launcher that saw use during the vietnam war.
the picatinny rail is probably easiest to see by the receiver when reloading or inspecting in-game
also note the pistol grip, ar-15 buffer tube & stock, and M203-style safety
the model in the finals even has the part machined out behind the receiver where the safety was initially intended to be—like the original china lake 40mm grenade launcher—before they added the M203-style safety
this was added to make toggling the safety on and off more practical due to the change of grip styles when the grip was changed to a pistol grip.
there is also a USGI M203 grenade launcher rail-mounted leaf sight mounted on the CL-40’s model in the finals
however, the leaf sight is considerably flimsier-looking
so it may be a modernized version i do not know about.

the stock and optic basically rotate in harmony to account for longer and shorter ranges
the higher the stock angle relative to the rest of the launcher, the farther the range
the optic has to be re-adjusted for the range and therefore has to rotate a set angle in the same direction as the stock

btw the launcher in the screenshot there is a Milkor MGLA1; an improved version of the Milkor MGL

Suggestion. have a section on a weapon where it tells the attack interval. That way, you can properly gauge how long it takes to kill an enemy with math. This is how the tf2 wiki works, and i bet it will help the wiki as well

We try to keep all stats for weapons/gadgets/specialisations up-to-date as soon as they change but stuff like DPS might be wonky as that's not an in-game stat and needs to be calculated again whenever some stats change

Any channel really, it's been a popular speculation point for a few months now. When I started working on the Wiki one of the core things we try to avoid is speculation. While it is fun to speculate and talk about what might be coming to the game it imo has no place in a repository of information. That also applies to this channel since it's to discuss how to organize what's being added to the wiki from things that are currently in the game or shown during preview events.

I didn't ask to add this to wiki but i asked a question at the channel which is more likely related to knowing this information since it is directly related to a resource of collecting data about the game
we don't datamine for the wiki, we have the same information as any other player and for that ruby rank, there was no information.
oh yeah the ruby rank as been "noticed" since the betas but it wasnt in the game officially
i can see that this rank was noticed a lot during the beta here so it could be noticed on the Wiki if there is anything historical about the game or beta
^ We knew there was a red coded rank at some point during development, generally most of us thought it either was gonna get added down the line or it was a cut rank they were working on between CB1/CB2.
would be cool to know that this already was during the beta. Not required but it can spoil cool info about what will be in the next season long before the season launch

ok, it is your choice what is better to make but i would be really interested to know not "current state of the game wiki" but whole information about the game. I would visit site a lot just to find something new about the game to spoil or reveal what is coming or what was before.
It would be also really good to have some patchlogs for every item. I would want to know how good was Invis during the beta or just at the release date. It would be interesting to compare past and current stats of weapons
It's a community wiki, you're free to go add patchlogs for everything. I would but I've been busy with my job.

Leagues are how contestants of THE FINALS are ranked in competitive game modes. There are 5 leagues: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Each league offers exclusive seasonal rewards, and consists of 4 sub-leagues that are progressed by competing in ranked tournaments.

Is the finals wiki's main color going to be red or pink this season? I haven't seen any pink UI elements in the game, but if the designer wants it to be pink.. (it will probably be hard to read though)
it’s just a highlight color to match the season’s palette. nothing else
but if you have a better suggestion by all means
it's like how we had purple for the colour pills last season but aqua/blue for the highlights
I think the design last season worked well. I think these colors are quite close, but obviously the pills can't be pink for contrast reasons.

I think the main thing that's making it look a little off (in my opinion) is the fact that it uses the same red as S1, and now it kind of looks like some elements were accidentally not updated , while others were updated to a new palette
my personal suggestion is to use a different red for the pills than classic red. such as something closer to rose; this will make it clear that it's a cohesive updated design
i like the red but i think adding pink to the text wouldnt be too bad
for example it could use these two colors (pink and rose) instead of pink and red
bordeaux red is also used this season, which could also be used for the pills instead
thats my thoughts atm
in short it would be to either use one color consistently (like S1's red) or to use a combination of two new colors (like last season) and not mixing the old red with a new color

bow is a long range weapon similar to sniper, charge it up for full damage and velocity, it can headshot. aps cant kill it. thats all i can give you rn

The finals was a new twist to the FPS Genere with a completely unique gamestyle...until they messed it all up and forced people to play TA for ranked rewards and the game died.
What's the dps of the famas after the buff? Is it better than the other two AR's?
weapons/gadgets have the updates stats, added radius to the gadgets infobox as we now know some of the radii for gadgets. Some DPS values were removed from weapons until we work out the values again

Collected the icons for all the new items and the new level 8 leopard print, will be adding item mastery section to each page along with some other changes later
My two cents is that we should use the signature red again. The pink tint is present in some S3 art, but actual in-game elements have almost entirely reverted to the S1 palette, and (imo) the wiki should reflect that.

@lapis kindle nice images for the new items, although I just want to say that i think the bow image is a little bit strange and that it may be worth rotating the view slightly (even if that means a part of the bow leaves the frame)
because right now this image doesn't seem like a great representation of the bow, it's just a stick.

TIL that Dual Blades can block (but not reflect) melee damage. This Heavy does a right click with the Sledgehammer (normally 200 dmg), so the damage reduction is 66% (took 66 damage).
