Just coincidentally, I've had to do some research on oil refining for work, and if there hasn't been progress on "get cracking" and time to get "basic," I wonder if we spent enough time considering cracking hydrocarbons into smaller molecules, perhaps preceding a subsequent polymerization into larger molecules. Has anyone deeply explored the idea of those small/large glitches being some kind of binary format? Like ITA2 Baudot code or something?
To me the idea of it being Morse code doesn't really fit the theme of the map. I'd imaging it would be something a bit more computer related lol.

Like the sorting of the 13 bits in 3's seems fitting with the first bit being a flag, and then the rest being some kinda octal unix whatever.

So like it could be a way to "send a message" to the map.

Put the first bit in an off position, write out whatever with the following 12, then when you flip the first bit to "on" would write that following data to one of the glitches surrounding the ball.

The thing could also be ASCII binary code, it only has 7 inputs but also all ASCII binary values leave the first digit in the byte as a 0.

It'd mean it would probably only represent one letter or symbol, but then again the ASCII codex is larger than our modern keyboard outputs, allowing for multi letter inputs like NUL or DEL.

i think they are referring to how someone or a group managed to trigger the dolphin easter egg without realising until a while later when the devs congratulated the EE hunters to their confusion and there was a whole scramble as people tried to figure out who did it, when and what they did to trigger it

Alright so TL;DR:

Me, Ludo, Rockhound, and I believe Pietjes started the main search in the Dolphin Charm thread after rob said something along the lines of “There’s more” and referring to the cetacea dolphins we had just discovered. Soon after he dropped the photo of the charm, and the hunt was on! Several months later, it was triggered on accident, and Rob said “It’s unlocked! Who did it?!” and all the hunters absolutely FLOODED the thread trying to figure out how, when, and who triggered it.

The rest is history. Enjoy your charm that caused me 7 months of anguish 😆
