idk if its any kind of easter egg or something but does anyone here know what the random shooting is in the practice range? ITS NOT THE DUMMIES it appears up top even and you can see the bullet holes from it, i never noticed it before, if you want to test yourself go put the walls up between the shooting dummies and watch/listen, could be nothing but i found it strange

The background of tfee_ques.jpg (the gold question mark) isn't all one color
The majority is RGB 6,6,6 but the bottom right corner has 3 bands of different colors
7,5,6 then 7,5,8 then back to 6,6,6 then 7,5,6 again
you can see the bands clearly if you crank the chroma

Love them... back in the mid 90's I read another book that blowed my mind... I was a teenager spending all my time in front of my Amiga "working" on games... I read Wrinkles in time by George Smoot... that almost made me abandon my game-dev plans... super old book, but omg that book completely changed how I thought about the universe... so if you are into gravitational waves, find that book and read about how it all started... I have this in my notes:

Electrum was used as early as the third millennium BC in Old Kingdom of Egypt, sometimes as an exterior coating to the pyramidions atop ancient Egyptian Pyramids and Obelisks. It was also used in the making of ancient drinking vessels. The first known metal coins] made were of electrum, dating back to the end of the 7th century or the beginning of the 6th century BC. For several decades, the medals awarded with the Nobel Prize have been made of gold-plated green gold.

Browsin' through Wrinkles in Time since Rob name dropped it. SOME PRETTY INTERESTING STUFF IN HERE. Notably:

  • Searching for "question"... it shows up many times in the book but the most interesting mention I've found so far is on marked page 58. Which has a couple of interesting things...
  • The question on page 58 is actually in reference to the formation of elements during the big bang, and how the distribution of the elements came to be. The (partial) answer to this question is Lemaitre's big bang theory
  • In the same paragraph as the "partial answer to the question", it mentions Ernest Rutherford arrived at Cambridge "just in time to witness J. J. Thomson discover the electron. Rutherford began the study of radioactivity and won the Nobel Prize in 1908 for his work. Using a radioactive source to bombard a thin sheet of gold foil, Rutherford discovered the nucleus in 1910, and so pioneered subatomic physics.
  • Ultra tin-foil hat time... the listed page number is 58. BUT, if you count from the actual first page of the book (where it has the full title and authors)... the page number is 66.

median island
# median island Browsin' through Wrinkles in Time since Rob name dropped it. SOME PRETTY INTERES...

Okay it's really bed time. Just to follow up on this with some more thoughts on this stuff from Wrinkles in Time,

  • Rutherford's experiment shot alpha particles through a Lead screen towards a Gold foil. They were then detected using a Zinc Sulfide sheet, which scintillates (lights up) when an Alpha particle hits it. Lead, Gold, Zinc, Sulfur... Pb Au Zn S
  • From the pic of the periodic table, NO GOLD. So nix Au.
  • Also from the periodic table, P -> C, T -> N, S -> E, so Cb Zn E. Ehh feels like we're missing something.
  • ALSO from the periodic table, x=5 y=6, which is Tantalum, or Ta, and T->N, so Cb Zn E Na

Unfortunately, that doesn't make a word lol. But all the elements chosen from Rutherford's experiment (plus Tantalum) use all three of the PTE -> CNS. One of y'all might have a better idea.

shadow shore
#

Maybe, we're only on Lvl 2 of 3

median island
#

Oh, and the x=5 y=6 on the periodic table makes me want to treat it like a graph with axes. Interestingly, Tantalum (5,6), Zinc, and Sulfur lie in a pretty straight line together. FWIW Zinc is (12,4) and Sulfur is (16,3).

I decided to graph these points as a last effort for tonight, and included a mirrored version. I'm a scrub and can't post pictures, but the equations are:

NORMAL (Ta -> Zn -> S)
y = -0.2742x + 7.3495 (with an R^2 of 0.9988)

MIRRORED (@ x=16, this matches the line you would physically draw on the table)
y = 0.2742x - 1.4247 (same R^2 obviously)

i may have found something we missed:

so because a lot of us are American brained we see the date of 11/6/2015 as November 6th, 2015. which led to the NYT crossword puzzle discovery.

but if you swap the date to June 11th, 2015, there happens to be an article about a certain someone being awarded a Golden Medal for her role in the discovery of pulsars. can you guess who it was?

http://www.epsnews.eu/2015/07/csic-golden-medal-awarded-to-professor-dame-jocelyn-bell-burnell/

the URL of whydidntanyonefindme-aminotimportant probably refers to the fact that this flipped date was overlooked, hence why her birthday was hidden in the mirror of vvv.png.

Huh, there was a pseudo sixth Nobel Prize added in 1968. The 'Nobel Prize in Economics'. Never knew that.

#

Observations so far with the new info:

#
  • George Smoot (Author of Wrinkles in Time, Einstein and LIGO were all awared the Nobel Prize in Physics
  • Jocelyn Bell Burnell was snubbed for the same prize, her mentor/boss/co-worker getting it instead.
#
  • They are all astronomers, or have otherwise postulated theories or made discoveries to do with gravitational waves
  • Einstein has a theory on gravitational waves, his general relativity and special relativity also come into play (bit long to explain)
  • Jocelyn Bell Burnel discovered the first pulsar
  • LIGO detects gravitational waves
  • George Smoot's book covers these too I believe (I'm still digging)

earnest wagon
#

I've had a theory cooking as to what 'The Question' is, and for a while a few of my guesses have sat pretty near the bottom of the list. Recently though, two of the outlandish ones seem suprisingly probable:

#
  1. What came before the Big Bang? How did the universe start?
#
  1. Is there life out there?
civic hornet
#

definitely fits with the alien theme of season 1

earnest wagon
#

Early detections of gravitational waves, soft gamma repeaters etc. had to be dismissed as being signs of intelligent life, or somehow projected from Earth. Jocelyn Bell Burnel even noted down peculiarities as 'Little Green Men' and I'm still digging through it, but I think there's discussion about disproving similar stuff in Wrinkles in Time.

hard forge
earnest wagon
#

Ah good, that was the one that had the least support, theory-wise.

hard forge
#

Or maybe he didn't eyed it because it was out of the blue

earnest wagon
#

There's plenty tying in the birth/life/death of the universe when digging into gravitational waves. The grand nature of the topic means it's easy to slip into things like the potential for time travel, but I've got a few eccentric stabs at things that seem to be constantly on the periphary.

hard forge
#
  • Jocelyn Bell and LGM(little green men) are connected
  • The 10 mil image had "ET" written on it.
  • And of course, the in game alien theme and cosmetics.
earnest wagon
#

For one - the precursor to the Big Bang theory was this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_egg

The world egg, cosmic egg or mundane egg is a mythological motif found in the cosmogonies of many cultures that is present in Proto-Indo-European culture and other cultures and civilizations. Typically, the world egg is a beginning of some sort, and the universe or some primordial being comes into existence by "hatching" from the egg, sometimes ...

earnest wagon
# hard forge Any thoughts on this?

It's worth checking, but I think we'll find it difficult to point to something else from there - it opens up so many more recipients, discoveries, fields of science etc.

#

JBB is the only person we have that's notably (as in, it's been pointed out to us) received a golden medal other than the Nobel Prize, and Rob has already drawn a connection between her and the Nobel via not receiving it.

#

I suspect the Nobel Prize in Physics is either:

  • The closest piece to the answer we have
  • A common connection between the named people (JBB, Einstein, Smoot, LIGO) and we're looking for another common connection
hard forge
earnest wagon
#

Yup - that's what made me think the second of those two options is true.

Electromagnetic Radiation might be a better avenue though -

#

Rob has eyed or drawn attention to the following:

  • Jocelyn Bell-Burnell (JBB) was snubbed for the Nobel Prize in Physics (NPP)
  • Einstein got it
  • George Smoot (author of Wrinkles in Time) got it
  • LIGO got it
#
  • JBB discovered the first pulsar
  • Einstein had his theory of relativity and special relativity
  • George Smoot's work on the Cosmic Background Explorer (COBE - AKA Explorer 66 - E66 - Egg?) investigated background radiation
  • LIGO detected gravitational waves
#

There's a trail between these things - Cosmology.

#

The study of physics in the universe - the timeline of our universe.

#

I believe each of these discoveries relates to one another beyond 'things detected in space'.

Einstein's theory of general relativity was provided massive evidence to support it by LIGO's discovery for instance.

I think this could be related to the universe outside The Finals, possibly Ark Raiders, the "big bang" could be the release date for Ark Raiders

a new universe, a different universe

release ark raiders when we solved Level 5 😄

I don't remember anything else in past tiers being linked to a multiverse

Erm, I don't remember them either.

civic hornet

Lol

#

Maybe I'm misremembering

earnest wagon

I think gravitational waves are the biggest connection - possibly linked to black holes - spacetime etc.

#

We're a stone's throw from multiverse stuff.

I think I've pretty much proven that OSPUZE is gamer pee.

Currently we have a few leads pointing to the Nobel Prize in Physics, as well as the medal itself.

  • On the back of the medal is inscribed "Inventas vitam iuvat excoluisse per artes"
  • This is lifted from line 663 of Book VI (6) of the Aeneid, by Roman poet Virgil

The references to 666, as well as the 6x666 image in particular, could've pointed to line 666 of book VI (6). I wanted this line to be some miracle connection, but unfortunately it doesn't appear relevant. Still, if anyone needs a rabbit hole to dig down, there ya go.

earnest wagon
#

I believe the back of the medal differs.

Yeah, it's the symbols that change, the wording remains the same.

For the science ones at least.

What's up guys? I haven't checked this channel in a while. Which Tier are you guys in now?

Last thing I remember was Tier 3 and we looked at meta data and crossword puzzles😅. Did that ever lead anywhere?

still on Tier 3

current rabbit hole is physics and the nobel physics prize

# cloud wyvern haha yeah when i was doing my searches to see if this had been brought up before...

I went back to my original notes, and I realise now why it was bothering me so much that I queried it.

  1. When presented with the NYT Crossword Rob only commented on what a nice date it was.

  2. He said this: #easter-eggs message

I've got it noted as 'Time: Format?'. I thought if we weren't looking for something with precise measurements, we were looking for something with a specific format. Shortly after I started querying all the dates we had.

cloud wyvern
#

i've been trying to think how she would have been discovered with just the original images.

#

because this is def a hindsight 20/20 etc

earnest wagon
#

That's the thing - when I looked up the other date there wasn't anything that leapt out at me.

#

I'm busy tonight, but I'm slowly working backwards from where we are now, pulling out any threads that lead from the NYT crossword, and asking the difficult question:

What do QUES and TION have to do with this?

#

I still suspect there's more to those images.

cloud wyvern
#

QUES is latin (duh) but i think that because it is differentiated from Quest might mean something.

#

despite that they are basically the same word when it comes to definintion

earnest wagon
#

TION backwards is Noit - Night

#

There's weird shading on TION I don't have the skills/tools to analyse further.

#

I've been checking the weird shapes we got a sneak peek of on VVV against every scientists signature and every graphical readout I've stumbled across.

It's flimsy though - just working on the premise that if something works for one half, it ought to work for the other - and that's the best I've got on a first pass.

(because she didn't get the nobel prize)

but to repeat what was said last night, i'm leaning towards the theory right now that the answer we are looking for is in the ballpark of The Birth of Gold.

civic hornet
#

Has anyone researched Bells theorem? I just came across it, maybe were looking at JBB too litterally?

cloud wyvern

JBB's and LIGO's research both shed light on Kilonovas which is where gold is born in our universe.
