A great place to start is looking into state and federal grants and scholarships. It’s been a while since I was at it, but I know the Pell Grant is a very useful one that’s done federally that can help cover a lot of expenses if you’re lower income.

It’s one of the things that helped me the most personally. Past that, I’d tell him to go talk with the student/admissions office (whatever that looks like for his area) and ask what they have for scholarships and if there is someone who can help advise him since he’s from out of the country.

This is super nebulous but I'm coming to believe more and more that there are certain generalizable/universal qualities that can be consistently identified across artistic forms (of expression)

art is one of those subjects that's really interesting since it's usually influenced by someone's life experiences

abstract art is always fun since most people don't get it

like a banana taped to a wall is something I'd consider "abstract"
