well its mostly the texture files that make it chonky. the default is 4K then stepped down for ultra, hugh, med, low ext settings.

mostly it's just images, never noticed? Higher quality usually gives the model more and more polygons and vertices that the game has to render, leading to more fucking strain on your machine, and the file size ofc
