dagger got nerfed a while back to make the backstab radius 150 degrees from where the opponent is facing, from the old of 180. I just think dagger is awful against winch (which is still a very prevelant spec) becase it removes your dagger charge and puts you in a vulnerable position

M11, you need to get into their face for optimal damage.

Best usage is to be strafiing right in their face using dash and light's mobility

M11's damage starts dropping off at 10 meterse, and maximum drop off at only 17.5 meters. Which then your damaget cuts by literal half at 0.52x

So if you're bad at reading maps and enemy locations, and aren't good at flanking. Play ARN

Dash is the best specialization on light for multitude reasons. The main reason is the other specializations light has can be easily replaced with gadgets. Cloak can be replaced with vanish nade and grapple can be replaced with gateway for vertical movement. Dash is the best specialization to bring on light 110% of the time.

The whole idea of casual gamemodes are in place to be a loose restricted area where anyone can have fast queues, hop in, have fun, and bounce. While yes there needs to be a bit of flexibility so new players arent running into rubies, ultimately it is just casual.

If you want tighter matchmaking and passable teammates, ranked is literally built for that. Casual stays loose on purpose, fast queues, mixed skill, low stakes.

Trying to make casual fair just turns it into ranked without the benefits.

Might as well just play ranked at that point and stop stressing about the fact the game puts you in silver.

The stuff you’re calling “more” is exactly what makes the matchmaking tighter for Ranked. You can’t get reliable teammates without the structure that comes with ranked, casual can’t cherry-pick just the good parts.

Ranked Cashout. Its typically matchmaking relatively close, the only issue right now is when you hit plat/high gold you run into rubies due to the lack of diamonds right now, but that's an issue that happens at the start of every season, not a fault of the ranked system.

In that aspect yes, I do agree the season reset is too harsh and is a big cause of the issues we see early season, but I was separating that issue from the actual matchmaking system of the ranked itself. There needs to be some level of fall back for those who placed high enough. Can look at Brawlhalla for an example of how they do their seasons.

For me it was finally the perfect combination of what I've been looking for in the fps space since it was something refreshing.

After having played season 1, the finals got me addicted on something new.

Grinding diamond and playing season 2 then got me desentized to the newness of what the finals brought.

Then season 3... turned everything I knew about the search and destroy gamemodes on their head. Combining a tried and true mode, with everything that made the finals unique was a wonderful combination

That’s not how ranked works. You don’t “advance to a point where you lose every match”, you advance until you’re playing people at your level, then your win rate stabilizes.

Plateau isn’t punishment. It’s the system doing its job: giving you matches that are actually competitive instead of lopsided. You’ll win some, lose some, but the games stop feeling unwinnable because everyone in the lobby is roughly the same skill.

it rruined the pacing entirely and was just more search and destroy. Playing the Finals like a tac shooter slowed its pacing and removed a lot of the creativity. I have never played anything like cashout itself that quite hits like it does. Cashout will foreever be what i think makes the finals shine. agree to disagree there cause TA truly deflated the game for me, and apparently many others save from people such as yourself

And to me, Cashout doesn't define The Finals. Cashout is simply a mode they've created to enjoy the systems they've created. And due to how unique it was, the wanted a mode to reflect it, but it doesn't define the game itself.

This is why they can do so many random little modes that still feel fresh. Even powershift and tdm which are rips from other modes in other games become unique with The Finals spin on them.

TA was just another example of how the finals can truly take a mode and make in unique for its genre.

I think that TA should still be playable though their reasoning was sound removing it imo, but making it the premiere ranked mode was the wrong move to me. I think your ranked mode should be the mode catered to the game and why cashout works so well. Not "reaching the finals" in THE FINALS ranked mode was very dumb. I would never play it, but if it was still in the game mode lineup im there. I think point break is fricken 10/10, dont want a ranked version, but the game mode is peak fr and TA existing along side it is fine

I realized cypris i was a little vague in how i worded my message, used point break as an example to your point of a game mode existing in other games being done unique and well in the finals and being awesome. Thats how that was meant to read haha

I do think that TA, as a mode itself, is inherently competitive for the players it attracts, so I think not making it have a ranked system is missing out, since casual players that try it will complain people are too sweaty, in an inherently sweaty mode.

However I dont think it should take away cashout's spot from ranked.

Since we now have a system for ranked coins instead of skins, id love for them to make TA another way to get more coins, and giving a sapphire rank for the top of that mode, leaving ruby for cashout.

Gives players more ways to get more skins, allows TA audience to get a ranked system fitting for the mode, and having a familiar mode will be a selling point to attract new players from other games with something familiar instead of something foreign, since The Finals is already unique enough, cashout adds an extra complexity that just pushes away new players, whereas TA is a tried and true mode that other players understand, while still getting their foot into what makes The Finals unique.

I think thats a good take. Whats your take on there not being much of a playerbase to sustain TA as per embark in why they removed it? On paper your take is great and I could totally agree, but it seems unsustainable at the moment. Also, I dont think i can think of a game that has 2 thriving ranked modes at one time. That would be interesting. I think apex for a while had arena's ranked but that was sunset for similar reasons. Would be interesting if it could take off
