it's entirely dependent on how you want to play
not the answer you're looking for, I know - but its the truth.
it's up to you to cook, no matter what character class you are playing

this game has matchups - there are a lot of variables to take into account
and the first one is what class you are going up against

the rest is up to you to understand and respond to

warlock counters other casters and classes that normally don't have much mdr like fighter and bard pretty well - rogues, rangers with good aim and barbs are probably the biggest counters I think, warlock is pretty gear dependent though so that's probably its biggest weakness imo, heal cleric is really good in a trio if you're not missing your heals and smite dp is insanely difficult to win against in melee with their skills up, cleric definitely suffers more against ranged but they usually have a lot of pdr and mdr so they are pretty tanky and perseverance helps a lot against dots, I do think playing both for a while will give you a better understanding of which suits you best though

yeah I'd say pretty much any build for warlock is pretty gear dependent, less so than TM though
and I think there's a lot of items that you can run on demon that are off meta for a lot of other classes but work well with demon so you can probably make decent kits for fairly cheap

I can say 2 things that already make it so much better. Atleast in personal preference.

1. once you start a boss, you can't be third partied UNLESS you open the door from the inside yourself. And then you also have a bit of breathing time after boss dies
2. It has true invis. But there is a very clear audio indicator when someone is in invis.

Thorn feels so mid when you can just jump it, I was debating swapping for the root though, I find ent still works as a moving wall to push up on people. so long as people can enter HR in squire kits, that is the optimal way to play. the PVE isn't challenging enough to require gear and the anticheat system is too weak to risk it IMO

crack down on the cheating/teaming/RMT and find a way to incentivize gear or the mode will just bleed players consistently every season

Most of the people I know run HR in Squire kit, yea; the mobs aren't difficult if you're skilled, and it feels better to start with nothing and come out with BIS than it does to do the opposite.

Yes, class counters are good. You should pick fights wisely. However almost any fully bissed melee class will 2 tap a legendary geared player and swing 2x faster while doing it lol. You dont have a chance

the biggest hurdle with player taverns is server hosting. simple, just put in the effort for the player to be able to host the tavern; and maybe even flesh it out for pve lobbies as well so we can scrap the whole filled lobby pve thing
