The dev teams always hears out what the community says and they’ve been pretty transparent, more so than any other dev teams I’ve seen. You don’t like it? Leave your input and come back in a week, no big deal.
It’s pretty normal for a wipe game to lose players towards end of wipe as content dries up, hope to see arena open with uniques or open to not having minted items. The normal and HR game modes feel meh right now. Normals fog isn’t bad but bossing feels like a complete waste of time like goblin caves not being able to find both bosses and the vault room, there just isn’t enough time in the game maybe make the raid longer. HR is door and doorer and third and thirder whoever waits around and catches the other team at a massive disadvantage. Would be interesting to see doors completely removed and see how gameplay is. Current meta of whoever can rotate faster or block a single person from a team to get a pick is pretty corny something you don’t see in arena which is nice. Loots tables in HR are pretty bad, why are greens and white loot even spawning on top level especially this late into wipe, I can go all three levels hit every pile on every level and still not be tempted to pick up not a single piece of weapon or armor because it’s not up to par with crafted gear. Make loot great again in HR
make self-cast duration different than other cast. so that wizard can have haste and ignite be useful for themselves more.
They lowered it more than likely because it was overtuned for duration. Instead, make the cast times of those buffs faster and keep duration the same so people aren’t abusing duration unless they specifically build for it. The penalty for casting haste ignite can put you a few steps behind movement wise and by the time you make a decision the buff can be gone

Why is it for the first time casters were at least tolerable, we remove the only counter they have to barb/anything that can just W and win by battle of attrition?
realistically fighter should not be able to use the longsword with plate armor, as it is typically a dueling weapon and not a knightly weapon
the heavy plate armor would make manipulating the motions of the longsword far too cumbersome to be viable
If you wanna go that way, daggers, arrows, rapier, piercing weapons in general should not be able to hurt plate armor fighters unless they hit a very minuscule hit box.

rogue and ranger having the amount of anti armor that they do without using actual piercing weapons is stupid
losing half your hp because a longbow ranger shot you once while in full plate is stupid

Oh I agree 100%, plate is supposed to make fighter durable. It doesn’t. Longbow is supposed to make range slower, it doesn’t. The trifecta of stats is supposed to be speed, health, damage. Pick two give up one, tell that to barbarians.
I think lightning mastery should either be able to scale with dmg with like .25-.5 scaling or have a much shorter cooldown like .25 seconds instead of 3

please give back the mining nodes in goblin caves maze b, it made that module worth going to for once and put more nodes in the other mining area as well. Going looking for a resource only to find one or 0 nodes of it and resetting over and over is bad design and having another objective besides bossing makes randomized dungeon bearable

Completely agree. Gating off mining sucked in the first place. We should have available gold and froststone without having to boss. Bosses drop their own resources and have piles. That should be the reward for them tbh
The devs have gotten stuck in a very late game mindset where obviously the only things of value on most maps are bosses and that is just a really boring way to design a dungeon.

The fact that Wizard was only playable because of an unintended movement mechanic is the real issue...
And to further add insult to injury, the absolute joke of a development team cuts damage from all casters. As if it wasn't bad enough that now we don't do enough damage to stop a barbarian, for example, before it reaches us. We also have ZERO counterplay to maneuver away and re-engage in more favorable terms.
They are lucky that no studio has released something even close to similar as far as this genre goes, because this is just theft at this point.

I wouldn't hold your breath. They've been putting their fingers in their ears and completely ignoring people telling them almost nobody is okay with the sweeping changes to HR in the reverse, and nobody wants more false difficulty and grindiness added to the game. And that's always the greater issue over class balance.
They completely ignore feedback on class balance, legit for years at a time, because they've always fucked up something completely different at the same time in some major way. Wizard has always been the red-headed step-child of the classes, and nobody ever played, and it's always felt terrible compared to sorc. We were promised updates to wizard alongside sorc, and didn't get any. Hell we're still waiting on quivers.
No amount of time can give us high-quality patches as long as there is no balance team consisting of experienced players.
Oh believe me, I'm not wasting my time waiting for these fools to figure it out.
At this point I have resigned myself to venting in this chat if for nothing more than the gratification of seeing that other people feel the same.
I have well over 5200+ Hours at this time, and as I've already relayed, the only saving grace for IronMace is that no other game on the market has the attributes to scratch the DnD dungeon crawling itch.
The near sightedness, and complete lack of insight on making changes this late into a wipe that is ALREADY FUCKING KILLING THE GAME.....
It does not take a seasoned developer, or anyone with more than room temperature IQ , to see that they are willingly killing the game.

The gobo meech should still do recovery for self found gear in HR.
It's something you see with all kinds of devs, from the start of game development in general. Some of the most brutal early games in existence were made in a vacuum by devs who played it themselves, not realizing they were not good at understanding their own game's difficulty from their own perspective. This is somewhat like that. They're in a bubble, separate from the population that play the game.
They have managed to kill the player base with this hyper focous on pvp and hard-core experience. It's like they forgot the pve and dungeon crawling...
Absolutely, I work in DevOPs and often times work with those that use what I create because they are going to understand on a much more intimate level that which I do not.
What I can't fathom is what is so hard, about just simply having a handfull of people that play this game every.single.fucking.day just playtest things and give insight to how balancing changes affect Solo/Duo/Trios.
What is there to lose, when there is just so much to gain from a simple thing...?
I love the PvP in this game, it's the reason I still play. But the PvE and dungeon crawling experience is just as vital if not more. I agree with you 100%
(and at this point, PvP is summed up in *play any melee class press W and win because everything that should counter you, won't be able to kill you before you reach them.)

Iron mace should have a team of balance players- 1 or more that mains each class to at least test out changes before they are deployed, and to give feedback / suggestions
Each should fight each of the others and figure out what feels and is bad about changes etc
I love pvp too. I wish it wasn't a prey preditor kinda set up. When looting it feels like all your doing is allowing your self to be ambushed while clearing and or looting. I wish it was more an honest contest over module's with good loot for the right to do their pve, not roaming bands of player hunters dodging all mobs.
what if there was a secondary action that had a longer time like a campfire where you gathered everything into a mobile backpack you could loot and arrange later into your own inventory

Others could loot it, it's up to you to hide it somewhere they won't find it, this would obviously be faster if you kill them. Now if you think killing is getting the last hit or doing the most damage to them is up to you.
Here's a novel suggestion, fix buff ball in a way that doesn't remove the fun of playing it.
Experienced players often lose sight of what play is like at other tiers. It can't just be experienced players on said team.

Honestly it's not that much complicated. Let us test thing before they're released, ask us what we would like to see, listen to the feedback of tester, work on the PvE side and make it intersting enough to people to go there and PvP @halcyon juniper @coral heron
Importantly for me, let us play viable support playstyles instead of nerfing that aspect repeatedly. If you need to fix buff ball, do it in a way that doesn't take away the fun of being in the dungeon supporting your friends.
Maybe if you kill the boss it lifts the fog for the whole map or maybe you need to open their loot room and flip a switch. This is referring to your continuous dungeon thread.
I will say if they were to give rewards for testing, don't make it for just time played i did "insider program: for "sea of thieves" and just had to sit for 1 hour, toughest part was getting up to move my guy to prevent kicking me from being afk
Yes why not for the map reveal, there is things to do to improve the FoW, it would have been better to test thing while FoW was only on one or two map instead of pushing it on every map in this rough state. Now people just hate it and brainlessly ask for it to be remove without seeing how cool it could be.
As for the test server I'm not even sure reward would be needed, if done like I said in the suggestions (people start lvl 20 on all class, all stash unlocked, with easy access to all type of gear) people would use it more. But surely if reward there is ,it shouldn't be only based on play time.
Imo, everything related to balancing, buff and nerf is secondary compared to content and core mechanic/system. I'm pretty sure people wouldn't complain that much on such small detail as one skill of one class being too strong or too weak if the gameplay element (Point of interest on the map etc) and the system ( like FoW, random dungeon etc) in the game were better in the first place. People complain about balance because it's easy to see and seems easy to fix (while it's not always, it's a very complexe mess), with a more complet gameplay loop and a bit of testing most issues would be avoided
As the playerbase gets generally better more weapons will be found to be "op"
the hatchet was called mid until people realized it was parry proof and had minimal move speed.
The lantern shield was called useless compared to the buckler until people realized how much damage it could do with modifiers
Every weapon has its niche, just depends how big of small it is. I feel now once the new dungeons are kinked out we can get new content. Whether that be new modules or the water map to one day the monk❤️ 🙏

Depends on how you see high roller. Do you want it to just be a copy of normals but with harder enemies. Better loot and different gear scores? Or a different thing altogether like now? It would make it easier if you could pick whether the zone is a thing or maybe even randomized maps like picking the group size.
Though I do remember hearing concern around having total freedom on this as It would cause players to swarm certain maps than others
I just thought of something:
We slightly copy the previous map rotation in that every maybe 30 minutes or however long. A special event happens on a random map. Maybe it could be that forge idea you had. I also saw somewhere a suggestion of roaming enemies and I thought of a minotaur but it could also be a certain goblin that could possibly have alot of loot on him.
Either way it would encourage choosing different maps, after the water map im hoping for a pyramid room with focus on traps in rooms, maybe every room with the Egyptian gods as mini bosses or the main boss
Honestly yes. That rotation thing could be cool. Imo the rotation was a good thing it was making people play more map, reducing the number of queue (that could allow to split Swarm and Old HR). And you could incentivize people to play some map with event like that
The rotation was just a whole other thing to debate over. Whether that be for more players to play different maps. Players needing items they can only get from one map or because they dont like that map

The things the druid can do are too many, it's very broken, the barbarian is played without brains or hands.
That was the intent for druid, although he can't do all of those things well with the same build.
You're telling me that a class that can jump from one map to another, transform into an animal that tanks and oneshots, and another that runs at 330 movement speed and hits like a truck, isn't broken? And if that weren't enough, it can fly across half the map and reset, healing its health completely with a spell.
The last patch pushed sorcerer towards bare hand casting which is what sorcerer suppose to be except it still far from being a complete class .
1-- The new perks ''innate talent'' and ''Merged might '' add magic power instead of magic damage which doesn't provide any significant increase to damage .
2-- Book casting tier 1 and 2 spells still supersede the class skill expression of merging different combos especially with cooldown penalties of higher tier spells and MDB curve changes , no sorc player really likes book casting but it still adds very significant base damage .
3-- Many spells combines Air skills such frost breath or flame thrower etc .. don't actually benefit from air mastery and therefore have a very insignificant utility / damage .
4--Elemental fury perk is theoretically good only if we play with less than 25% hp which is practically very bad .
5-- Spell Merge should be a default Passive . There is no reason to lose a perk slot to actually benefit from the class skill expression .

Tbf, druid are more op when u really dont know how to play vs It, i was in the same spot of every class are Broken exept mine, i just played all clases and know good and cons, and i improved by matchups vs them alot

I still don't see a disadvantage to using a druid, he has everything without losing anything, he heals, he has movement speed, now he shoots spells, he tanks and he has the ability to oneshot, does that sound balanced?
best druid have its movement skills. 1- shoot spells are in the best of best a healer druid and they have 2 "range spells" 2- idk how a druid tanks but a panter get 2 tap or 1 tap by a tons of shits of this game, only he have to "tank" its bear form that u can kite from narnia.
Druid can't do that all at the same time. He's got to pick and choose whether he's going to gear up for fighting in cat form, chuck spells, or bear form. Even if he could. He can't tank in cat form and can't chase in bear form.

He's a lot easier to kill as a cat, especially if he geared himself up to fight as a bear. Also bear form can't fit in doors so you can mess with him, poke and retreat thorugh a door if he does that. if he's geared up as a cat, it's a bit more touchy but not impossible to beat.
If he had a cooldown or something that prohibited him from spamming transformations like stupid, I would understand, but no, he has time to spam 4 and that is very annoying
What you can't do vs a cat is keep running while he runs you down.

If you're using a fighter, shoot him with a bow or crossbow if he's messing with you at a distance. Druid's distance game is pretty poor, even with druid's bolt.

There are many other things that are broken with the game that are far worse for the game than druid. At least druid is fun to play. I can't say the same about every class.

The game is fine, the only bad thing is that person who gives ideas like: unnecessary and meaningless buffs to classes that obviously don't need them, bringing things from the past, not testing the limits of each class in advance and the new ones alike, not checking the mapping well before introducing it and putting in a super poorly made arena without its own map

Why are people asking to have fog of war removed? It's the best system they've added to the game in a long time. Well, maybe not for those who want to sell gold, and those who want an easy and streamlined version of the game.

It’s not so much (for me at least) that the fog is the problem. It’s the fact that you can’t find the boss, do it, find the second boss, do it, then find the treasure room after with only 15 minutes. Fog isn’t a bad thing, fog that the only way to reveal is to go there is. Add another 5-10 minutes to the run? No one would bicker about it I believe. But not being able to go in and get bosses UNLESS that’s all you do, no one finds you, and no one diverts you at all. That’s a problem in my eyes.

Remove the swarm entirely, such a mechanic shouldn't exist in a game that's not a Battle Royal. Dark and Darker is not a Battle royal game, as BR games can only have 1 victor. A BR game doesn't end until there's only a single team left, and it doesn't allow early escapes. On the other hand an extraction looter has multiple escapes and multiple teams can succeed regardless of whether others succeed or fail.
The swarm doesn’t bother me so much, besides limiting where you can go. But meh on that part. The boss being on the far left top, and you spawning on the bottom right, it’s shitty. You can’t go kill the boss because you have to get through everything n along the way including the players, then when you do get there the circle is already closing itself away from the boss. Thats where my gripe is.

additional PVE difficulty, sure... i dont think the masses played dark and darker for it's PvE elements, it was a hardcore PvPvE looter extraction game and the following and hype was massive....

I think the game was at it's best when I was afraid of attracting attention from people that were better geared than me. You can only really get that in the top bracket right now. It's also not something tied to the swarm. PvE, especially hard PvE forced you to make noise which could attract unwanted attention, doubly so for the bard. Opening the top bracket to people with any level of gear, might return that but I would rather have the Fog of War mechanic, not the swarm mechanic for such a mode.

Hunt Show Down type of clue system to help funnel players toward the bosses? Also can the soul hearts have a small particle effect towards the nearest revive?
Why would you want to funnel additional players towards bosses? Having 2 to 3 teams show up while you're trying to kill the boss isn't all that endearing, with this you'd be fighting half the lobby or more.
Just want it to be known that druid really needs a nerf, the scaling of true damage and agi on panther literally makes it impossible to do anything but hope you can out damage him with melee tanks, and even then its a tossup depending on their health and how many hits they got. Their reset time is ridiculously fast and they remain the best all around class in terms of movement, support, and survivability. Pls pls pls nerf them and or implement a perk for classes to cancel shapeshift to make a viable counter.
In GC for this example: With random modules it is difficult to find, then kill both bosses. Unless you get lucky and find the 2 boss rooms and the new loot module all close to gather. Boss hunters and PvP hunters would be running through every module looking for the fastest path to these specific modules. This puts the questing or less experienced in an increased chance of being found by an experienced player. What Hunt does well is creating game play loops that are semi-independent from each other. The guy that is questing has an opportunity to “move out of the way” by staying away from zones that are cleared. Then there are those that are bossing, part of the boss fight is defense, so counters are fair. And there are the PvP hunters who can also follow the boss trail. These systems all interact in ways that minimize the clash between players with different objectives.
PvP is spread out by each clue as it draws players there first or fights are heard by the PvP hunters and get drawn away from the boss. I think it balances out more than the current RNG system.
These "out of the way" zones could create spaces where game play loop like this could be flushed out.

Some pvp counters is fine while trying to boss, having the entire lobby show up at the same time isn't. That said, for the room with the treasure, you don't need to be the one who killed the boss to open it up. I also get the impression that the bosses don't spawn on the edge of the map for GC or Ruins, but I could be wrong.
The goal of any game should be to have fun. Running frantically through HR to stay inside the circle without any time to loot just makes it not fun. I dont care about AP. I want to adventure around and explore. The circle ruins that experience. It makes it not even fun nor worth wasting the gold on a kit that could be lost due to poor location of the circle. Make HR fun and remove that dang circle

i think thats the whole point of this update though. highroller being less accessible for bossing makes named uniques among other things that much more valuable now because there will be less in circulation. its not just a gameplay update its an economy update too.
sucks you cant just solely boss farm anymore without rng aspects getting in your way but it is a looter extraction. maybe having other high risk high reward locations in the dungeon you can do instead of the boss would be a good way to support this change because as of now the only focal point of the high roller maps and the only goal pve wise on them is bosses

thx^^ i always felt like the coolest thing about dad was that you can basically do whatever you want in the dungeons. a little bit like a sandbox. that is the perfect setup for a dungeon crawler. but as of right now there is not really much to do with this freedom. there are basically quests and bosses as activities. and pvp hunting, which is fun, but i would not consider it an implemented activity. if bosses arnt for you there is not much to look forward to. creating more points of interest similar to bossrooms that cater to different audiances should be the malin focus of new content imo. Devs should ask themselfs: What do people like to do, and how could we structurise that and funnel people with the same interest into specific places to create interaction.
Imo new maps and new classes are not bad content wise, but what we really need are more things to do in the game. classes and maps are interesting for a while, but then they become just another place where you run around not knowing what to do, just another set of abilities and perks you run around with, not knowing what to do. we need more things to do. things that motivate us round after round after round to go in again. we need a game loop.

That's exactly what I've been saying for month now. New map and class are indeed new content but without new things to do ine the dungeon you're just doing the same 3 thing in a different place with new skill. They need to focus on improving the gameplay loop, add new thing to do , chill thing with medium reward (like mining is, could be fishing or something like that) and hard module with great reward, Utility spot on the map (could be the return of Expressman etc)

well just spitballing:
- (for pvp) an arena type module, where you can sacrifice the soulhearts of slain enemies to open an treasure vault
- (for explorers) a treasure hoard that is hidden somewhere on the map and doesnt require you to slay a boss but is instead guarded by a door that you need a number of specific jewels to open. those juwels spawn randomly on the map and if you equip them, they faintly hum if you are looking in the direction of the closest other keyjewel to you. Like soulhearts they autimatically disapear when you leave a dungeon.
- (for social RP) some sort of random appearing raid boss or monster hoard on the map, requiring two teams to defeat with dedicated roles for each team, so that you cant kill them on your own or with just one team (random to prevent preteaming). When there is such an event in the lobby you hear wardrumms echoing through the dungeon, getting louder the closer you get to the boss/hoard. They could even roam around the map, creating even more chaos and maybe even some sort of teamplay between players that where in the middle of a fight. If you defeat the boss/hoard, it also drops a treasure hoard, which leaves you with the question if you want to honor your allies or betray them and take there share for yourself.
- clear indicators on the map that point you to those points of interest, to let you navigate through the fog of war naturally (this can be either map pieces in skelly corpses, statues pointing in the right direction, shrines that reviel certain poi's on the map, ...)
TLRD: create points of interest for different playertypes, with clear ways to find them on the map. All of them should have the same reward as the bosses, a treasure hoard.
Now that fog of war and random rooms is in normals here's what i think would be useful:

ghost king: spectral smoke on the floor that gets thicker the closer you get to his room
Spectral Knight: chants of cheers from his time as the kings personal champion, getting louder as you get closer to his room

as streamers and other people have been requesting alot lately, a few updates ago you guys fixed the economy and gave a new system for us to spend gold on that isnt making it circulate back into the economy, effectively fixing the insane prices on some gear. but with this new update, bossing is super rng, and almost nobody is really running anything in hr anymore, making named items among other things extremely scarce and valuable again which isnt all bad, but its going to ruin the prices of items in the long run again and make things exactly like they were before you guys changed anything. this could be fixed simply by adding the insurance system to goblin merchant like everyone is requesting. make it cost 1k, 2k gold, or maybe depending on the rarity of your items or gearscore. you pay and if you end up dying from pve or something stupid, and can recover your kit. old gob merchant was like 250 gold to buy back a 500 gear score kit. instead make people pay before entering the dungeon, and make it ALOT. otherwise no one runs anything worth it anymore in hr. first of all you made it super hardcore, which some people were actually digging including me (besides the rng bossing) but now after playing for a few days, ive not seen a single named being run, all kits are barely hitting gear score requirement, alot of people arent even going in with rings. at this point normals is the game, and highroller is the pve server sea of thieves told us we would never get lmao. im not hating though i play every day and will continue to do so but yeah state of the game is not looking very great right now (in my opinion)
I think most people could agree with that right now. They wanted to make HR more hardcore, why not? The issues is they did that by adding randomness instead of actual difficulty. Both the Swarm and completely removing the Recovery goblin just made the game more frustrating and random. And as we've seen in the past, when the game is too random or unfair, people are afraid to use gear or frustrated to lose it so they end up playing normal. It's what they said they wanted to achieve "HR is not for everyone", i'm cool with that, but then create a new place where we can use our gear without dying because we don't have any portal left or losing a good kit to a 5th party. I know it would split the playerbase even more but I think they should bring back the old HR and make the HR with randomized portal and Dark swarm it's own gamemode :

You assume everyone is attempting to boss or pvp, not everyone is doing that and this could allow for more game play loops to be added/flushed out. Creating opportunities for a variety of play styles, i would say, is a good thing. It provides more people a chance to play the game in a way that is fun to them. Additionally PvP would be spread out as people now have several opportunities to run into each other vs just one time at the boss, 2 technically with 2 bosses.

I have a suggestion for Dark Offering.
If you have max stacks they should not all disappear at the same time, it should change to where you only lose one stack at a time. Also it needs to last twice as long as it’s almost never useable.
Yes, I think they just went to far unless they plan on filling out the dungeon with points of intrest instead of just hoping a chest is golden vs a lions. Artifacts effects such a small population of players I am unsure of how beneficial planning around them is for the game as a whole.

When you have primary attack on right click, your spell on left wheel is cast with right click which is confusing.
Add a button/priority wheel for primary attack and the other one for secondary attack so we (left handed players) can play in a less confusing way !

exactly. we need more focal points in the dungeon. more high risk high reward pve aspects in the dungeon. maybe its crazy, but what if there were TWO boss rooms in the module? gives people more chances to actually get to the boss, gives people another focal point, of course i would rather have other focal points with different aspects in place. but a second boss room could be a quick easy change to counter the rng aspects they are trying to force for the meantime until they come up with interesting engaging other aspects for other rooms. like yeah a boss is great and all. but what if there was a room with so many mobs it was ridiculious, but at the end it also had a gold pile? theyve tried this before of course. but still. im giving the fact that there are other possibilities. maybe a puzzle room where if you solve it you can get a treasure, but if you fail the puzzle you just die. whatever the case, something other than just the map and the boss room is needed. right now people either skip through rooms to get to the boss, or skip through rooms to get to an extract. the game shouldnt be like that. every room should feel like its worth exploring, and the game just doesnt feel like that anymore. not even close.

That's the priority for me imo. More point of interest, some easy (like the copper/iron module of GC, could the long awaited fishing module), some harder with great reward.
Even without creating actual new thing they could reintroduce thing they removed or improve thing they have. For example put back the Expressman as an NPC who spawn in a random "low interest" module, or add a new module called The Forge where you can bring gem and gear to do what the Goldsmith do but here you can get the max roll and it don't cost gold
That's the type of content the game lack :
Fog of War OR Randomization. Not both. Both makes maps absolute cancer to go through. Half the game shouldn't be trying to find an exit and avoiding all content because you've gone through ten rooms with no progress to actually finding an out whatsoever.

Fog of war without randomization does nothing. I have every map memorized and it's just boring to go through same modules again and again.
Randomization without FOG makes people rush boss 24/7.

Fog of War makes no sense without random tiles. Fog and random dungeons make this game feel so much better.
My only 2 changes with regards to Fog of War:
- Make the reveal circle twice as large as it currently is.
- Add new shrines that completely reveal all adjacent modules 1 tile North, South, East and West of the shrine.

You'r right, but the issues isn't FoW or Randomization, those are good. The issues is that they've released those system too soon, without testing, without getting any feedback and they pushed it on every map instead of using random crypt as a testing ground to improve and complete Fow and Random dungeon. I would love if the revel circle was abut half a module, but couldn't extend between modules ofc
that's one way of doing it. Although we don't have a large enough playerbase for additional game modes.
I know, that's the main issues. But I think it's the only good solution as SDF want the Swarm and probably won't remove it even tho most of the playerbase seem to dislike it. There is other solution, like returning to the map rotation system (and improve it) reducing the amount of different queue would allow to have more gamemode. Isn’t this upcoming tavern server a waste of time? Since players will need to spend real money, only 0.1% of the player base will likely to try it.

They said themselves that the Social part of the game should be what's coming at the end of the early access, after all class, map, content etc is released but no, let's waste time on that, it's not useless, it's even pretty cool, but it's not a priority at all
Unfortunately, as long as they'll keep doing the same mistake over and over and over again the playerbase will slowly reduce. They have to stop releasing big feature middle of season without testing anything (especially when no one asked for it or when they're reintroducing something they removed in the past). Pls focus on improving the PvE in the dungeon instead of focusing on a PvE mode... There is room for every playstyle in the dungeon (if you don't add thing like the Swarm who force people to PvP). Just need a few point of interest and to improve the random dungeon and FoW mechanic (Also the first idea about needing more than 3 player to fight the Wyvern was good. Making people change there mindset about that could lead to great things
they need to change panther form to a domestic cat which can lower enemy stats when it meows

bear form should have a 5% chance to be a black bear which gets scared and runs away
chicken form should have a lay an egg ability which spawns a chick which attacks enemies for you, its weak but you can spawn a bunch of them
Destroy kite meta. Remove movement speed buffs from stowing weapons; they are still on your body and are adding weight. Putting it on your back shouldn't magically make it weightless so you can run away faster. Potentially impose slowly stacking movement speed penalties based on exertion when fighting other players specifically so the PVE side still flows smoothly but versus other players you aren't allowed to go on a World Tour of running for 7 years and peeking doors with crossbow shots for 4 real life days before someone does something. Make leg shots reduce movement speed if you're worried about someone advancing as a ranger. Incentivize actually fighting someone and not minmaxing to be as fast as possible. Hell, cap movespeed while you're at it from 290 to 305 to normalize the curve and still make plate armor 'not the best' but also not the worst thing you can wear if you plan on fighting people just because of how much it slows you down. Ring Around The Dungeon is incredibly boring in a game that's mostly about melee combat.

Exactly. With a new gamemode they just split their ressources working on too much stuff and split the playerbase even more (with something who's actually going to split it a lot). While they could spend this time working on new PvE content for the dungeon and improving what we have. (And I was thinking the same of Arena, it's cool the result is nice, but I think it would have been smarter to use this dev time to improve the dungeon)

I disagree, GBMM is great, and it's the changes to HR that I hate. The game is not broadly improved by forcing sweats to only face each other. It's drastically reduced in quality tbh. If all I ever face is going to be bis death-squads cause I'm over a thousand hours, I'm just never playing this game again.

GBMM allows for skill expression in the form of builds, with varying levels of risk involved in the cost of those builds, "SBMM" does not. And there's no way to implement it without just making it hour-based or extremely gameable.
This in my opinion is not a "problem" that needs fixed at all. It would just be another massive sweeping and very unwanted change.
I'll say it again, they shouldn't be structurally changing the game at all except to go back to a functional HR. They should be working on new content for it.
In many ways this is a serious problem with a lack of vision, despite SDF's memes. That and I don't think they're good at making systems like this. They captured lightning in a bottle once when they first made DaD, and most of the changes they've made since have been some sort of extremely bad double-edged sword. They have literally all the wrong instincts, and should literally just stop meddling with their own game.

For me Randomized Dungeons and FoW are decent additions, and they were indeed promised for a long time. And continuous dungeons are a server-time fix not a player-facing fix. But they were right the first time when they totally removed the circle, it sucks. And both the goblin and expressman being gone in HR just makes it totally intolerable for the cost tbh. We've just completely backtracked to a time where HR wasn't "more hardcore". Now nobody wants to play it, at all unless they're in some ridiculous budget kit that means nothing if it gets lost. I certainly don't.

Big part of the problem back then was just not having multiple teams in the abyss reliably too. Not really as much of an issue with continuous.
That's definitely something I would like to see them take a crack at again. But I feel that way about a lot of things I feel have just been neglected. We'll see.

I completely agree with the two of you! I just mentioned sbmmr because sdf himself brought up that he wants to have different modes for different experience levels. Personally I always thought highly about sbmmr, because I played a lot of hunt showdown before and the mmr there works extremely well. And i still think it would be a much better fit for dad than gbmmr if executed correctly. But I came to realize that most people havent experienced or can't even image a functioning sbmmr. People that argue against it often have ideas or experiences with sbmmr that are abysmal indeed. Like your comment. A matchmaking purely based on gametime would be unplayable indeed. And let's be real: IM would not execute it correctly. They would mess up big time and probably revert back to ap based matchmaking after two weeks 🤣
At the end of the day it's like you guys already said: we need more exciting and motivating content. Everything else is wasted dev time at this point. With the recent changes (short of 80) they brought the game to a very solid point. It's like we have a decent canvas now, but it is blank. We need meaningfully things to do.

Agreed. Marauders, for instance, is a game I have qualms with. It's got no matchmaking, and it's become all sweats all the time.
But when I go to a marauders map, there's so much to do in any given area with so much more complexity. And the game automatically generates random quests for you to do on that map based on what's there, too.
A lot of the modules in DaD are interchangeable filler between very few real points of interest like bosses and piles. The mining has all but been removed for no good reason, imo. There's no specificity for the types of valuable loot you might find except with bosses. We can't even craft white protections or anything like that at a decent rate. The crafting in marauders, including its quest system, are absolutely top notch compared to DaD. At best we also have dogs and spiders for their specific drops. But that still leaves, what 80% of rooms being filled with skeletons, or goblins that are essentially just wasting your time?
I feel like my only problem right now is that after I hit Demi and get all my quests done I get bored of the game and nothing brings me back until wipe.
Froststone and gold should be just around. And there should be craftables that rely on basic things from common monsters and not just stuff like troll pelts

I was absolutely done with this game before druid and the steam release. Then druid released and I was back. Same for sorc. Long string of bad patches, then a good new class to sink my teeth into. Developing the classes (rather than just nerfing them repeatedly) to have more options and playstyles is something that always brings me back.
Class balance too, is something I think they should back off on. I get there's certainly strong classes, especially in specific metas when you get down to 3v3s vs solo. But I don't care about that. It doesn't meaningfully improve the experience for anyone to have their classes repeatedly kicked in the teeth unless they're doing something seriously disruptive like back when Rogue was oppressively landmining every match.
People need to get gud or otherwise accept that they have weaknesses because of what they're playing, and that's that. There should be very few class balance changes unless something really bad is going on.
The game is asymetrical and trying to fix that is inherently a really bad idea. You just end up with formless, nothing-classes, with no specialness or 'fantasy' to them.
I really like both druid and sorc. They do exactly what I want them to do, and slowly over time I'm expecting them to just be eroded because people cry about how a panther killed them and they didn't understand what they did wrong, like that one guy who absolutely ree'd because he shot a panther in the foot instead of the head and didn't realize it, even on the replay, and just thought panther was op.
Same guy - who I'll leave nameless - made a whole video about how every class was OP, not realizing the inherent stupidity of that take. People just get mad and then blame the game design.
I am shit at any caster class but ive started getting decent with warlock (hoping that helps me with other casters sooner or later) I hate the radial menus. if I could key them to my numpad or something id have a way better time. but yeah I get what you mean. I remember S2 Rogue was unplayable and I had stopped playing at that point. coming back when I did Rogue felt the best it ever did. but yeah every class has a strength and weakness and you mix in your playstyle to make it even more chaotic.

i can imagine everyone having 100% ms max from armor, and only speed boost abilities can get you over that
panther can 4 shot pdr fighters with true damage and there is nothing you can do other than trade, then its just a stat check with the panther winning it
its funny though that this problem might be gone because panther now has a head hitbox, so you can actually hit headshots
otherwise though, you cant be defending druid, where they have to click their mouse a few times for the other person to die, and if they are low, they can go rat and escape
I think plate should still have its downsides but they shouldn't be as punishing as they are now. Fighter can mitigate it with sprint/adrena/breakthrough to hit 100% MS in that scenario but i also totally get what you're saying

I have literally never had a problem killing a panther with any direct melee class, and definitely not a real pdr fighter, that's insane. Frankly, I think people like you are just overblowing what exactly it means for a panther to get close to you then hit you four times. That's a you problem. You got ambushed if you haven't traded with them, and faster than they can.
It's mages and rangers that are vulnerable to them.
I don't know. I made like 6 major suggestions that made it into the game already. Didn't even know panther didn't have a complete head and yet panther was considered inviable before its most recent set of buffs that everyone cried about near the season's start and into the last wipe. Funny that. Panther is already extremely squishy and often had trouble performing because it doesn't scale as well as something like rogue. Personally I primarily play bear, but god am I tired of kiddies whining about panther.
And make absolutely no mistake, Druid's panther-chicken jump is awful and needs to go. The class has problems. The rest though? Completely a skill issue. Get gud.
Personally I also think there should be some clear indication of whether a druid is specced into bear or panther while they are in that form.
ie if they've got more than 35 str or something they get a grizzly bear instead of a black bear, something like that. Maybe a polar bear or something if they're 45+. Maybe you could tie it to perks and make it so there's caps unless you take a specialization perk for the form that gives you something in return for being a bit more balanced, but gives you a better version of the form you want to main.
That would remove a lot of the 'false uncertainty' of having to dance around a druid who turns into a bear lest you get smacked in the head for a lot, when they're actually a panther with no str. etc

Remember when dad went back on steam and was suddenly free to play. At first free accounts could only play white gear in norms. Alot of people complained about dad being pay to win (which wasn't true). Shortly after IM made colored gear playable again in norms as a reaction.
The first thing that I thought was: wait a sec. Squires don't have access to the marketplace. Legendaries have. They both queue up together. So in an effort to not seem paytowin, they actually made there game pay to win for a very short time. And that's what i wrote. They opened up the marketplace for squire accounts the next patch, actually explaining that they don't want legendary players to have an unfair advantage in normals. And that's it ^^

just had a thought, what if ceremonial staff named unique, did something along the lines of, when casting a heal, the target emits a blast that deals the same damage they were healed for in a somewhat small radius, so you could send in a barb and deal damage to everyone on him while also healing them, and even if youre alone it could also deal damage by healing yourself while someones on you, seems like a cool named unique that can be balanced pretty easily by how it scales, maybe it deals half the damage healed or something
Add a mechanic where either with scroll wheel or other method. allows the player to choose which attack in the attack chain thay use. once thay use it thay have to cycle the other moves in the chain. (halberd cant just spam thrust) please leave the reset at the end of atk chain in though. This would allow mixups without making it to complicated

It already can/is a class that can solo it just has a higher skill gap. But magic missle + ignite will kill every mob you need it to.
id maybe add some spells or perks that help it. maybe even increase the wizards will. a rogue can insta kill you. a ranger can destroy you, maybe add a perk that increases spell velocity. add more spells that have crowd control ( push back or pull in even ) . or even add a skill that turns your crystal sword into an enchanted one (similar to smite) and it would increase the range and deal true magic damage. ofc it would be a last option / it would be tweaked etc
sorcs can defend themselves if they are good at longsword. staff mastery is VERY bad and idk why its even in the game in the first place

I mean I think the issue is, is wizard is still really good in trios especially in arena. its not just the clear. the class just suffers hard in solos. the kit isnt made for solos at all. i think wizard should have perks that affect crystal sword and evena skill for it similar to blow of corruption, imagine making a crystal sword feel like warlord sword for 5 seconds where each attack deals 10 true damage on swing. it wont affect wizard much in higher tiers but it would be a viable all rounder after u poke down someone. its only fair

Rework Ray of Darkness so that 1: It has more base damage, 2: Has more range and 3: A longer base casting time to balance it out. I'd much rather have a damage spell which is slow to cast but actually does something, as opposed to something that is relatively quick to cast, but does no damage at all and locks me out of combat while doing so. (Especially if the spell costs 4 spell memory, which is the same as a wizard's fireball and lightning strike for crying out loud)

its just the mobility disengage problem, a trio could chase a druid/warlock playing defensive for a whole game for no success, which feels annoying. Also they can just come back to 3rd party to next team fight might be weird

i think balance was great just (before or after?) patch 69, we just needed a little more weapon slow on hit duration time (pt 4 was nice too we just needed a wiz nerf back then)
Game is in a great direction, i cant wait for PvE mode, some of my IRL friends dont enjoy PvP but could enjoy a mode where you see other players and fight monsters toghether but your attacks dont damage them

As a druid, and a shapeshifter at that, i've always thought the chicken panther jump was always terrible and totally agree it needs to be removed. You should stop jump-momentum during a transformation or something.
I don't agree much with the lifebloom nerf. Or any of the spell nerfs. It feels like that was made with arena balance in mind which has next to nothing to do with how balance is anywhere else in the game.
PVE also sounds like at terrible idea to me. It's just a complete split of the playerbase and a band-aid on the issue of not providing enough basic reward for playing the game for people to play it in the intended mode. And a number of classes straight up will not function there. Wizard, I'm looking at you.
They should be focusing on improving the core experience not adding arbitrary new modes. And definitely not ones that dilute the core idea of the game like pve and arena, for that matter

That's a real problem. You can't ever get away from a druid with that, and most maps favour them very strongly. Some they can just fly right over.

I'm no game dev, so idk how well these will translate in game (or if a technical issue prevents these), but I've got ideas on how to fix panther chicken jumping, and maybe druid transforms being annoying in general;
- Transforming kills all momentum and makes you fall straight down. Easy fix but can really mess up fights.
- Chickens can only continuously jump if they initially jumped as a chicken. So if you go chicken midair, it'll act as if you used all your jumps already.
- Cant transform mid air. This'll also kill the rat/door trick that people hate.

Right now rat is a utility for getting through doors, it doesn't actually have very much escape potential. And because they decided it should squeak constantly it's not a stealth utility. The meta is filled with aoe and dots
Rat jumping is also legit a skillful thing to pull off under pressure and I can respect that. And it's less cancerous than using the ability to kill etc.
i think rat is good if a barb swings a zwei, you could transform into rat and probably evade the swing. Also you can run and reheal etc.
id say make him bigger, give him more HP
That's not really how it works though. Rat has a tendency to take damage in one form, then it applies a few seconds later in rat form, killing you instantly.

I heard people dislike fighting rat jumping because they can engage in a fight, go rat through a door and run, heal up, then come back and fight again, and repeat until they run out of heal supplies.
I dont enage much in PVP (I normally lose most fights when I do), so ive never encountered it.
Getting away from mika is easier with a panther jump. Panther is generally faster than rat including the jump

Panther-jumping is still the more pressing issue. A class being allowed to attrition you does suck. I don't like it when warlocks do it, but it's part of the core gameplay right now, and some big changes to that class too would be needed too if the devs decided they didn't want that in the game.

Rat is less of a total annoyance than invisible rogues too, because you can still see them if they're visible. Rogues just get magic. I was sad when they first removed it.
They actually have to choose a good hiding spot etc and can't just appear on top of you. And they need space to transform into something next to you too.

Fix the game in general please, it feels like every new update I see is just Ironmace trying to make their whole playerbase quit. Every good change is reverted immediately and every bad change stays for long enough to make the game revolve around it. Do the devs actually play their game? Like seriously it's become a slog to do anything anymore with all this random bullshit like fog of war and druids draining the joy out of your soul every time you try to fight them. Seriously, rat jumping has been in the game since rat was created, and panther chicken has been a problem since it was discovered ages ago, and Ironmace has yet to even try to address the issue. That's just one example by the way, there's a lot of other issues that make it so that if you run into them, the game just becomes unfun to the point of not being worth playing. I can't speak for everyone but I at least know that most of my buddies that play feel the same way about it because like 3 of them have just uninstalled and quit entirely.

Am I the only one thinking that 300% elemental scaling is far to high on the mobs? Like Double damage or 50% increase would be good but guys if you have time get your sorc and grind ap. Mobs dying like nothing if you know wich element to use
HR is pain. Whoever decided the Goblin Merchant won't give your stuff back from HR is my new least favorite person. I tend to play solos and now I can't even path out where I want to go. Why have the solo HR option at all when only people with thousands of hours can actually make it out alive? Like yeah, skill issue, but I can't invest the time to get good while also paying my bills, and my imaginary friends don't have PCs
Projectile damage reduction being added in extreme amounts to a vast number of bosses and mobs is complete ass. I'm happy with elemental resistances but you can't build entire classes abilities around using various bolt-based magic or bows and then gives bosses ridiculous 40-50% reductions in essentially all damage from those classes. Projectile DR is not something that should be so heavily applied if at all to mobs. @keen onyx @dawn grotto

The fact these are cumulative is obscene. Cave troll has a 40% projectile resistance and a 50% fire resistance. So I'm dealing a quarter of the damage with any of the fire damage I deal with a sorc. Why? For several monsters you've added ice vulnerability and added resistance to projectile dr. For those monsters you do realize literally the only ice damage in the game is projectile based right? There's literally no other source of that kind of damage. They are all various ice spears/bolts in sorc and wizard or waterbolt/prison which is also a projectile
Great idea, pretty poorly considered. And tbh a lot of classes are basically taking hard nerfs from this who don't have flexibility. Resistances like this require flexible spell lists in order for the game to be interactive. That's what makes systems like this fun. Warlock doesn't have that. Anything evil or fire is now essentially useless in a wide variety of spaces. Fun conceptually, not fun to play with. Their only other option is dark. Whereas Cleric is basically getting a huge free meal because nearly everything is vulnerable to divine magic - and nothing in the game resists divine.
Preparing for an area by putting all your fire magic for frost is fun. But what if you don't have that at all? That's just painful. Please reconsider class options if this is the core game we're going for now.

I don't mind the weaknesses actually. It's exclusively the resistances that I think are silly, at least in the way they're distributed.

Not a bad idea. I always thought mob specific affixes on gear (like goblin damage resist, increased damage against goblins) would be a cool way to differentiate gear beside obvious pvp min maxing. Tbh nobody would run this stuff as an enchantment instead of something pvp oriented, but as an additional affix I totally see this.

Imo, when you have a couple hundred hours on the game, Fow of war start to be a good thing. It break the routine and improve the feeling of exploration and adventure. But I can agree that right now it's pretty rough, especially when you're still learning module (Start by learning module etc before trying to learn boss imo). It’s be really cool if they made a monster manual thing.
Killing a monster and interacting with the corpse would fill out the manual, giving you the ability to see its stats, resistances, and cool description of the monster in the lobby, and it’d encourage people to actually play several maps and try to kill some of the more difficult monsters. There could also be some one time rewards for completing the manual.
Now that I think about it, I really like this. I put it in the actual suggestions website. If you like my idea go upvote it to gain it publicity.

I recently came across a list of updates in BG3 and wondered why rogue in DaD can't throw sand in his enemies' faces. There are already such mechanics in the game, it is logical to add it to the active skill.
You can also conduct an experiment - add a buff from a certain character characteristic to some of the skills, for example, reducing the penalty for rogue's movement speed from the amount of agility.

Fighter and Bard can have crossbows, they are more than enough. There is absolutely no fucking reason whatsoever I should be fighting 2-3 bows (usually longbow) on every single team in arena.
Remove class stacking EVEN from soloq. It's getting ridiculous - it is NOT an exaggeration that about 90%+ of my games have 2-3 longbows in it. This sucks all fun out of the game, especially on modules where there is no cover and no way to push them.

is it that bad for other people? i logged in after the update with my trio and all 3 of us noticed the lighting and contrast changes. we thought it looked great actually. maybe tweak your nvidia and monitor settings or calibrate them? im not sure. but the game looks much more vibrant in color now and while the shadows may look darker, you can clearly still see outlines of players. the game is meant to be dark. its literally called dark and darker. you should be able to take advantage of nooks and crannies in a dungeon realistically. that just makes sense to me anyways and its just my opinion. but i dont thing this change needs a revert. if somehow its monitor based (even though mines literally from best buy) most people playing the game can use their graphics hub to tweak their settings. nvidia/amd whatever you have you can tweak your graphics and visuals. but once again. i havent tweaked any of them. im playing on a pretty cheap monitor. things look great for me

I started playing after a long time, and wow, how they ruined the game, there's no longer the classic map, there's no longer the safe zone closing in a circle (which encouraged PVP at the end of the match).
Make the loot goblin that everyone wants a player. Give it increased luck stat no agro range good speedstat and some traversal ability's, a timer between each goblin run per account. This would add variety and can function as a scav run. It could Also lead to fun interactions between players

I've said it before, but I'm super sick of people complaining about literally every class in this game. TBH there's literally nothing wrong with panther. I think they should remove the chicken-panther jump mostly because it's weird and gamey and offers too much manoeuvrability, but there's plenty of counters to panther.
It's cyclical. It's pointless to complain about an asymmetrical system that's always going to not favour you in some way. If you don't like rogues or panthers, play something that can smack them around, it's really that simple. I play sorc and I don't cry whenever my hard-counter classes end me. I have options to deal with them, and if they got the drop on me, that's fine, that's the game.
You know who I literally never care about when I'm playing bear druid? Rogues and panthers. Barbs too, easily counter both of those things. Don't act like panthers and rogues are some sort of allpowerful mega-class when realistically they have things they're bad at dealing with as well.

sorc is in amazing spot. he has so many air spells. And if he fights vs barb he still can still try to outrun him like every warlock.
And I cannot stress how totally fine I am with warlock being absolutely spanked. Warlock is vastly more annoying to deal with than any other class in the game imo, including druid. They are literally mosquitos.

We played panther, ridicilously easy to kill every single class even when attacking toes. Panther's damage clearly needs to be reduced and silence removed. We already talked about this, you just simply can't accept the fact panther is a problem.

I've literally never seen video evidence of anyone correctly dealing with a panther when they say it's op. If I could share videos here I'd share Fishu's, where he abandoned a high position the panther would only be able to reach with a chicken jump, ran past the panther to try and escape, and not once shot a single arrow. People flub and panic against panther all the time, and they rely on it. Stay calm, and hit them in the head. It's very often that simple. And don't come at me with bs about them being able to kill plated fighters or max hp barbs face-on. They can't, and they never could. If they're going to deal with those classes they need to get them from behind or rely on their panic in some way. It works very much the same as a rogue, they simply cannot face-trade without shenanigans, and they don't have the cute ranged options rogue does.

Maybe game needs lots of type of dungeon events at the end of the season to keep player numbers high
If you introduce three HR game modes:
- Current state
- No circle
- No fog, no circle
The entire player base will play easiest mode while still receiving the same high-quality gear from dungeon.
If you adjust the gear rewards for different HR dungeons which cost lots of dev time, you end up creating multiple game modes, which increases server costs for developers and players will probably still play the easiest mode.
What previously made HR different from normal mode? Mobs and bosses. But were they really that much of a challenge for players? For experienced ones no.
Three modes is completely undesirable imo. The dark swarm just needs to be gone, it sucks and it always did.
I already think it's a big mistake to add pve-only.
All they'll do is further split the playerbase. Neither PVE nor Arena should be in the game, they are purely a dilution of what DaD is and will further warp the meta to accomodate them.
I think the biggest problem with circle system is that there is not enough portals at the end. And that boss is outside the circle most of the time.
The circle never needed to be in the game, period. There's no point in fixing what adds nothing. The game is about exploring dungeons, and it only serves to oppose that.
When they removed it it was one of the best decisions they ever made. It ended all kinds of ridiculous play, like running into it intentionally and healing through it. Ended so many cheesy deaths caused by layouts because it forces you to bite off more than you can chew. It's not a 'hardcore' mechanic, it purely exists to pressure people into the same space, and this isn't a BR. Just don't do that.
And static exits? They were great. There's no reason they should have been removed. They were pretty clearly always the best form of exit the game could have. Making something more obtuse does not make it more 'hardcore'.
What if circle is activated at the end? 3 minutes before timer ends? That could be cool solution.
But similar mechanic is already implemented in normals
You're still talking about hypotheticals regarding a mechanic that's totally unjustified. The solution is taking it back out.
Not only that, but the existence of the dark swarm is the reason we aren't allowed the goblin merchant in HR. And that's totally unacceptable too.
Mark my words, after the wipe, HR is going to be dead, because no one will care about AP anymore, and the mode is so unpleasant only the sweatiest will care about it. Or classes highly overtuned to deal with pve right now - like cleric vs anything in hell.

- queues get drasticly reduced (esp. If you consider that they will add more and more maps along the way)
- suddenly you created a gameplay loop, where you are enticed to get better gear not just for the sake of it, but to actually unlock content in form of new maps, new enemies, better loot and so on.
- if in the future you implement more maps they not just end up beeing mutliplicative more queues without really being "motivating content" but instead they are just additive more queues further building the gameplay loop.
- everyone would still have the choice to play the map or the gear they want but they have to prioritise which is more important to them.

That's completely awful, especially with resistances now being in the game. No.
The only way that would work is if it cycled every week or something. And you'd just see the player count completely drop during certain times where certain classes are just not allowed to play what they want.
They have constantly changed the lobby system, and this is the best version it has ever been. There's nothing wrong with the lobby system right now, and they've even managed to shore it up reasonably with continuous spawning. I don't want them to change it, again.
There's also no problem with normal vs HR, it's just that they've utterly ruined HR. It was totally fine before they re-added the swarm. "fixing" their mistake by re-forcing maps for certain difficulties or group types is not a solution when you're just telling people they can't play the way they want.

'abusable'? The fact you don't like building builds in this game is a you problem. I do. That's part of the skill of this game, and I find it disingenuous you'd talk smack about it being a problem. Having a build allowance is a totally reasonable way of forcing a constraint that makes people build well within the environment.

I like to build builds don't worry. But certain builds are not viable in lower brackets because you cant realisticly bring in multiple colored weapons. With gear score builds like fe. hatchet barbs, shapeshift druids or bare hands sorcs are heavily favored, because they can distribute there gs better than let's say fighters or spear rangers that rely on multiple weapons. Thats what i mean by abuseble. I have no problem with the current gs system. I just think making it dependent on max rarity wouöd solve some issues while keeping the strenghts and would still allow for the same building possibilities.

No need to be disrespectfull btw. Its just an idea. I know that resticting players from content that they already had access to will always get backlash. But IM imo made the mistake to make every form of content accesible to everyone from the get go. What seams to be great is the reason the game becomes stale after a couple dozen of hours because if everything is unlocked, there cant be any progression. Also making everything accessible at every gearscore is the reson we have so many queues in the first place. This might work for now with continuous dungeon, but everyone wants new maps once in a while and every map they add currently adds 4 new queues, which will be a massive problem once there are a few more maps released. Imagine dark and darker had this type of progressive map unlocking from the start. Nobody would have given it a second thought because it is a well established system in basically every rpg and MMO. Even dungeonborn went this way. I could totally see this becoming stale for veterans that only play he highest bracket tho. Maybe you could make all maps accessible in the highest bracket basically as a HR Version. This would still reduce queues per map from 4 to 2 in the long run.
And my thought on that: your completely right. Static extracts where the best iteration of dungeon escapes we ever had. The only problem was (and still is with reds) that people fought around it and just bailed when fights went bad. Tactical retreat and reset is one thing but this just crests countless situations, where fight for half the map time just for your opponent to bail out and everything you earned for essentially winning the fight is that you wasted alot of mess and time with nothing in return. Random portals arnt a solution to this tho. The most optimal way would be to keep statics locked behind the portcullis even when they are activated. If you want to go through you have to interact with them like with portals, which opens them. Then they stay open for like 10 secs before they close again and you have to reopen them.
That would change a boring easy bail into a high adrinaline escape scenario, where you have to create yourself a timewindow to crank the gate up and escape. With a loud sound indicator to it. And if you mess up the enemy probably got a health reset while you were busy cranking that lever. With this statics would completely keep there functionality in noncombat situations while solving the escape problem.
I suggest giving enemy small concussion effect when hit by Club in the head.

It's always been lopsided that goblin has no down and therefore no real area for greater gear. Frost caves is vastly improved by having an abyss imo, now. But since they re-added ruins/crpyts/hell as a thing the system is just out of balance again. There should be three layers for each map, or two layers for each map.

In an ideal world I could see a situation where eventually they make more maps and maybe rotate maps out in a season to keep things fresh or something, but we're nowhere near that with the maps not all having the amount of layers they should.
Now that monsters have resistances, I reckon most armor types should as well. Unless something is straight up enchanted to have magic resistance, like runestone gloves, there's not much sense in having magic resist diectly on gear when for example plate could be vulnerable to lightning damage and bludgeoning from earth damage, while leather is pretty fire-resistant and cloth isn't, etc. They shouldn't be as extreme as the resistances/weaknesses on monsters though, for obvious reasons.
I really like that idea. In addition instead of true damage (which always will be problemstic) how about add elemental damage as an enchantment for gear. With that martial classes could also play around the new elemental mechanic atleast a little bit and this would be a neat option to add fancy visual effects to your weapons that look great and help your enemies figure out what kind of damage enchantment you have going.
Yeah. I've always thought that rogue poison shouldn't be just untyped magical damage too. Poison should be its own damage type, and druid probably should have ways of using it too or something. There's a bunch of monsters in the game that use it on us too, so gear that's resistant to it would be interesting.

Then close AP season 1 or 2 week before wipe and do some fun event on the last week. That would keep people on the game. First month they farm quest and gear. Next month farm AP, farm for craft, optimize arena kit. And last month before wipe Arena season end, people can build cool kit arena is open all the time, 2 week later AP season end, add a fun event and wipe

Currently, the Cleric is already quite strong, even without any specific Paladin perks. I believe the Cleric should have more unique perks that differentiate it from being just a melee and healer. One issue is that the Cleric Healer is extremely tanky, especially with plate armor, making him less of a priority target in fights. I think plate armor should be unlocked through a perk, rather than being a default feature.
Or like Slayer or Druid. Make a perk who increase your healing potential but you can't equip plate anymore. Like you get 1 more spell count on healing spell but no plate or leather armor

Removing the Goblin Merchant for hr has made hr much less worth playing. Even from an experienced player’s perspective, it seems to make the game objectively less fun (which seems to be the point, I guess?)
I think gobbo merch was at its best when he just brought back some radom items. Getting everything back kinda killed the economy and the risk reward of investing in gear, bet getting nothing back just feels like a major gamble every time you invest in a kit.
I agree, that would be a great middle ground, and fitting for the merchant as a character. It doesn’t feel right for me either, as when I kill timmies they get none of their random, slapped-together gear back. It sucks crazy hard for new players, much more than it sucks for me.

Though i definitively did not enjoy the constant switchings between solos, duos and trios. I understand it was a strategy to divide people into many lobbies, but still, not a fun mechanic, more like a patch to an issue.
I'll be more straight forward. For some time now, we used to have only 1 or 2 layout for most map. That caused some kind of redundancy in the gameplay, without new "in dungeon" content, such as new point of interest, new activities to do etc the game started to feel kinda dull for all those who weren't playing only for PvP. Every game start looking the same, rush boss or mid room to find PvP, each interesting module behing camped by PvP player. Random dungeon and Fog of war tend to revive a bit the Dungeon crawler aspect of the game

Yeah the Map rotation where you couldn't choose your map was kind of a necessity due to the low player count back then

I totally agree with you, it shouldn't have been the first piece to have been added, it should support other feature and new content instead. But I guess it was faster and easier to do than new point of interest so they released that first which was a mistake imo. And even worst they pushed it on every map instead of adding it to only one map and use it as a testing ground to make it more interesting, for exemple you could get the map of people you kill, have new shrine who discover the module around you, add a new item you can only find in the dungeon and are 1 time use who show a path to a boss, an exit or something like that on your map

Imo, everything's here. Focus on the dungeon, make it a place where you can both be satisfied as PvP and PvE player, make it so it's not too random, with tool and cool in dungeon thing to find your way. Ok, Something i thought about and discussed in the Rogue lobby that i really think would be interesting.
What if there were points of interest simillar to statues and shrines, but for map awareness?
For 1 in every 2 or 3 nodes, there`d be something that allows players to see a signifficant portion of the map (clearing a part of the fog).
Maybe a magic paintbrush or something, that, once activated, shows the map, and you yourself, can use the magic inc to reveal parts of the map hidden in the fog, until the ink runs out.
Fun and useful to use.
And maybe such item (like magic pen, or magik ink, idk) could be an item that can be bought by some kind of merchant.
And another mechanic that would be interesting would be that, since everyone is trying to uncover the map and reveal different parts.
If you kill a player, you can steal their map and reveal the areas that he explored.

you won't outrun most classes and you will not be blocking thats forsure. People complain about balancing when this is a basic combat mechanic they should have hammered out from day one. Just like some barrels needing to be jumped and crouched on but on specific angles.

for goblin caves it would be an infinite number of goblins all side-by-side poking with their spears and crudely made weapons in the direction of the end area while singing a nasty song. think of the goblin cave scene in the hobbit
@elfin onyx lol, i like the idea of that.. as long as the game gets super dark and forces you to use a torch, I think that particular scenario could work. Especially since darker scenes may be less taxing.
Dark Swarm and any adjacent mechanics are bad for the game and should be removed.

i thought of a what-if area/map underneath inferno that's called "the bleak" or just "bleak" where its so dark a torch or some kind of light is required, all enemies are nightmare and a new even more difficult level of mob is introduced that a a kind of glow in the dark purple like some already nightmare mobs like wolfs eyes and centaur
They were right the first time when they took them out. The swarm adds nothing to the game but arbitrary pressure in a game that should be about exploration and caution.
remove druid sorcerer warlock bard ranger and make them subclasses instead
you joined around the same time i did so you know the game used to be a lot more hardcore like not having the squire or a marketplace for certain items, the game is about exploration until you know every module and know what to expect from said module.
ironmace either has to pump out module rapidly or they can make the game tougher through swarm to encourage pvp/caution and fow to encourage exploration into the unknown, i agree the swarm can add pressure but i played during when it was gone and it was easy to get ap so that's why its in hr and not normals

The only danger it offers false difficulty. It either forces you to not explore areas you want to explore, or make inadvisable routes and put yourself at risk of mobs. It also inherently encourages camping the swarm with healing.
Did you not hear me the first time? The swarm should not have been re-added. The game was literally fine before now. Never cater to sweats.
Mark my words, HR is going to be dead in the new season. Nobody's going to want to play it once everyone's done their ap farm. It doesn't matter how arbitrarily hard something is if it's unfun. And the dark swarm, is unfun.
And it's also the root reason why we're supposedly not allowed the goblin anymore, which will revert hr into being 'nobody wants to bring in real kits' again. Nobody's risking real gear beyond the bare minimum in a mode that randomly spawns you in locations that might kill you.
if you were able to explore the whole map you could just avoid people and hide in the corners to get free loot, i automatically assume there will be other people in the heart of the circle, since there's one portal that spawns at the end.
id say cater to the sweats for highroller, not so much "sweats" but people who play who want more of a challenge out of the game
also that's the beauty of a wipe game, you don't have to worry about what gear you bring in, its all going to be deleted at one point so don't be afraid to bring in good gear to prove you didn't die to a gear-dif

alright you can argue with people but don't start with insults like "Weak take" or "despise the people like yourself" I'm personally a bg fan of a pve mode as it opens up a whole new world of things like a skill tree or bringing back multiclass as you don't have to worry about balancing when its fighting ai.

also if anyone points this out people say its end of wipe but the player base was cut in half after patch 80 dropped the steam reviews/discussions shows a majority of newer players that were getting into this game really really disliked the fow and randomization (though i think the randomization is fine) but most of those players can barely survive normal lobbies before the changes now its extremely hardcore for the timmies in normals lol they cant find exits they cant clear rooms fast enough they cant find bosses much less learn them

I think they removed the ap buy in cause people are randomly dying to storm which is so extremely "hardcore" its great being in inferno and needing to revive a friend or anything only to have to tell them sol i gotta head to circle apparently i need to clear 3 rooms at lightspeed to get out
I actually quite like the AP buy in removal. Passive gain over time is a better way of doing the AP system. They need to actually release the rewards sooner in the season though. And increase the AP required accordingly.

why i do say my good fellow this is rather uncivilized talk, and adding the last tid-bit that those insults are latchted onto challenging an idea is a copout.
We all have our own way of arguing/debating. in your case emotion is imbedded to, which is fine, at least to me, but others may not have the same feeling about it, and i don't want your voice/arguments to be muted/unheard because you had to add insults to it and others feel attacked over it.

Anyway the Swarm, in my opinion, is a bad idea, it's not more hardcore, it's more random, more frustrating. It force people to PvP which is bad, PvP should come from interesting Point of interests on the map, boss room etc instead of an unavoidable game mechanic. The game is PvPvE, for me, that means you should be able to easily find PvP but you should also be able to avoid it and focus on PvE/Dungeon crawling if you want to (Until some point, high end point of interest like boss etc should be hot spot where you can't always avoid PvP). Fog of war and Randomized dungeon with the good improvement could add varieties to the dungeon without being too punitive and irritating. I don't know about you guys, but when I was a new player a long time ago, the hardest part of the dungeon for me was PVP, even when the circle existed.

For instance they accidentally re-added gold to goblin caves mining spots. That was a good change, especially with map being randomized. It created a place for people to fight over and something to do that wasn't fighting the two bosses or farming silk.

Exactly, putting Gold and Frostone behind a boss is a mistake imo. We have too few points of interest it's sad to lock one behind another

It made more sense when these bosses didn't have craftable resources, but now the only ones that don't also don't have mining spots.

For me there is easy one.
The Expressman : Put him in a random room in the dungeon and your need to go there to give him stuff to extract.

A forge : It does the same thing that the Goldsmith but you can get the max roll of a stat and it cost only the gem (That mean you need to bring your gear and gem in the dungeon and take the risk to lose it)
A gem Hoard: Like a gold Hoard but with a higher gem drop rate, put them only behind the Key room so people actually use them
Aside from re-adding mines to non-boss rooms? I think it comes down to having a variety of craftables in the environments. I'd actually rather a lot more of the game's crafting wasn't gated behind bosses, because that just creates arbitrary scarcity.
Take for example wolf pelts. Is the game meaningfully improved by tying wolf pelts to half a dozen important items and the coin bag? Why is the white pelt not used for the bag and the gray pelt not used for the armours? Also there are literally two types of wolf but both of them drop the same two pelts. The frost one being unique and dropping the fluffy white one makes more sense, and makes it a unique point of interest inherently compared to the ruins wolves.
I'd worry fishing would go the way of herbs and not be worth it. I hope they overhaul how alchemy works, because it's just so inefficient and weird. You shouldn't need to upgrade potions, you should just make them with the right ingredients.
But in principle I don't mind the idea.

Yeah maybe, but with more and better craft adding thing who increase you're chance to drop monster item, or Ore etc could be enough. It could also introduce cooking allowing you to make consumable like Ale who give stat for a couple second or stuff to eat in combo with a campfire to get buff for several minute

I agree with basically all of that. The maps need more intrigue to them. I bring it up from time to time but Marauders, despite all its flaws, has really dense maps with points of note everywhere. I want more of that in DaD as opposed to just rooms with monsters and boxes.
The only thing of interest to most rooms is just layout. And rarely, what kind of monster is there. There's almost nothing specific to the modules.
They did recently add a room to hell with a stairway-obstacle-course to a pile. I thought that was really good, making use of what they had to make something pretty interesting, but we need more variety to the actual mechanics of these points too.
I hope next wipe people will keep using Unique gem as a trading money instead of key, so we can finally use them for what they're meant and have one more point of interest

It shouldn't be hundreds of pulls from a skeleton champion to get one for example. They're minibosses, give them a real reason to be farmed. And doing that will also drive their price down.

Maps are a good idea, even if they can only be found and used in-dungeon.

I would suggest "Covenant" style tasks for the Religion system like ganking rival religions and collecting a certain token off their corpse to turn in.
Each religion could also have some form of PvE focused item reclamation task as well that they focus on, rather than just be a gold sink. If you know what kind of thing a rival religion is after, it could make it easier to provoke fights by going to an area where that item is known to drop.

Is there a server issue with larger maps? I think bigger maps could be an interesting direction to explore in the future, especially if there are more points of interest on them.
