I have a suggestion for inferno bossing. What if we implemented a pity system where the boss is spawned by the player. Usually you go down and the boss is already there. Instead what if the player can spawn the boss and if it’s the boss they don’t want, next time they can choose which to spawn. I feel like players are wasting lots of time trying to get the right boss for a quest but this could also keep some of the rng.
As I read all the opinions people have about what class is balanced and what class isn't. Is counters to classes ever talked about? In other games you have such things as innate counters and albeit in this game there are many different variables that effect the flow of battle sometimes tipping favorable class matchups the other way, I think it's still very worth noting that some classes will just perform better or worse vs others. Players from what I've heard and read seem to think when they have certain gear on they should just win fight regardless of match up or circumstances. Anyone have opinions on how to portray counters and favorable match ups in a better light? Other then just playing the game for 1000 hours.
please for the love of dark and darker iron mace please fix the lighting and shadow textures on ruins i get like 20-30 less frames in ruins that forgotten castle or hell or goblin caves or ice caves please do something or at lest show you are making some progress

There is a bug that prevents me from entering prices when using Japanese keyboard input, forcing me to use MicroSoft IME.
Google IME cannot be used.
Being forced to use an unfamiliar IME has caused me to make mistakes in predictive conversions and cost me 2500G in fees. I feel terrible.
Or how about a setting that allows you to get your commission back within 5 minutes of listing an item?
Or how about the ability to collect commission only when an item is sold?
I understand the need for a commission to keep gold inflation down.
But if the commission makes it a chore to list an item for sale, is that a great conduit for the game?
I would like more features to make item and gold management more convenient.
The time spent organizing items is the most wasted time in playing the game and a totally unnecessary cost.
Would it be difficult to implement an auto-sort button, an item rotation function, or a box or arrow barrel to tuck away specific items?

I think the shared stash is a very nice feature.
However, if the shared stash is consequently occupied by potions and gold coins, moving items around is not very comfortable.

Do yall think Rogue's Smokebomb should be a 1 use, rechargeable at campfire, or do yall think its better as is?
I think in general that skills or abilities which are rechargeable with campfire are a bad idea, when the dungeon is only 12 min long. If we had dungeons which were 30 min then it would make more sense and also feed more like a "dungeon crawler" instead of a battle royal. I think skills should simply have a long cooldown, like 1 min for instance. Sure Campfires are faster to place nowadays and especially for rogues, but the concept is only really good if the dungeon has more dungeon time. With that said I think it's stupid that a skill like smokebomb can't recharge at all.
Wizard, Cleric, and Druid get by fine even though they need to sit to regain their spells, campfires commonly being used to quicken that process
and second wind is probably one of Fighter's most used skills next to sprint
I agree, but I also feel sitting down is kind of strange gameplay, when your dungeons are so low in timer. If you had longer times in a dungeon it would feel great. Regarding smokebomb which is not replenishable at all, I think needs to be changed and I'm not even a rogue player myself. I wouldn't be against smokebomb being rechargeable with campfires if the dungeon timer was increased. If the dungeon timer is not increased I feel other methods of recharge is better suited for the high intence pvp battleroyal game.
I do wish I had just a little bit more time, but many players already complain about how long a single Inferno Boss run is
I think before they do anything to increase the timer in the dungeon, they need to at least make getting the boss you want not up to RNG or otherwise make getting to Inferno bosses easier
I agree on this a lot. I have been trying to get a ghost king kill in 4 days now with my 4 hours of playtime everyday without him spawning. It would be awesome if we somehow could pick with layer we get, when we go down to red. If we would be able to pick a 2nd door down in the waitingroom where the expressman is. Regarding the longer timer on a dungeon I would love it to be 30 min, but I don't want the portals and static exits to be changed, but give me a choice as a player to stay longer in my dungeon untill I want to leave. Instead of feeling time preassured all the time. I feel after you have had your major pvp fight, ressing teammates, trying to loot your enemy you have low to no time to get all the "glory" so to speak. Maybe I'm in the minority with that opinion 😄
It would be quite the radical change but what are you thoughts on basically combining all 3 layers into a single dungeon
it would probably still need to be instanced for performance reasons, but the idea that there is one timer that is much longer, but you have to make your way back out of the dungeon
this would let you run down to the boss within a couple minutes if that is all you want to do, but it makes getting out potentially more dangerous afterwards since you are much more likely to run into players as you make your way back up

It would indeed. I don't mind the 1 layer or 2,3 layer dungeon scheme as long as you have a good and long time in the dungeon. When I want to boss my first goal is to get an empty lobby and to kill every player on the map first, so I have the boss alone. Im all for faster boss approach no matter the layers they use. I do like the current 3 layer system because I can loot crypts all by myself and know that the boss on layer 3 is for me only as well. I know why we currently have less time in a dungeon, but I hope Ironmace can find the better hardware in servers and what not to make it happen, so we can get more time in a dungeon if we desire to. With that said - I would love faster boss runs in general, but I haven't thought that long on how that can be accomplished with every lobby being full. At least for me in EU.

I bet this was already suggested but can you make class presets for quick build ? It could be something that you should buy like stash, but it would be quite the quality of life upgrade, especialy for classes who can play support. I dont have the same perks/spells on cleric or bard if im playing solo/duo/trio and it feels like a waste of time to change everything everytime i play with somebody or alone, plus if you upgrade your gear you also have to potentialy change your build, so if i could do a build for low stats and another one for high stats that would be really nice.

A second idea would be to make a quick build for arena, where you could stash arena armor and it will automaticly equip it on arena so you dont have to take of all your stuff then equip your arena things when you just want to play like one or two matches.
It could also be a new part of the squire menu.

Druid should have skunk form
because gamers are stinky
so can ranger get free arrows for arena, why do I have to pay to go in every time, 20 arrows for potentially 5 rounds is pathetic, surely we can make a system where they reset every round, or give some special arrows for free that are arena only
i think instead of reducing how much damage you do with weapon mastery they should reduce action speed instead as with how it currently is its more of a nerf to long bow and two handed weapons rather than a nerf to dagger fighter which is what mostly people have a problem with
you equip double bow on squire and get 80 arrows for free

IMO removing AP from treasure isnt smart until you actually remove treasure completely and have only functional items in the gameplay loop. You cant pull us in two directions at once and expect it to be fun.
how can panther kite? Hitbox is huge, should not be able to hit you and go unpunished, never works that way for me

the same reason wizard is missing 99% of their spells, magic missle requires aiming, and fireball has a 2 meter radius....

I gotta say, nerfing Weapon Mastery is not going to solve the problem with rondel dagger weapon. The weapon itself is way too fast, so many hits, scales with attack speed, damage bonus modifiers and doesn't have any red zones as the animations do simple thrusts, inflicting 100% damage with every hit. That weapon is the problem and needs adjustments.
You forgot to mention the strongest thing with daggers.
If they are in your main hand, you will be instant at putting your weapon out.
You have nearly no downtime with daggers. Meaning you can put your hands out to chase, and insta get a dagger and shield out when you need.
Daggers need to only have that feature of the offhand is also a dagger.
Not a shield …. This is why bards also using rondel dagger buckler nowadays
Successful blocking with the shield should let you react with a shield bash (as long as you dont get staggered)
Scale damage with base armor rating on shield 0.75 damage scaling
Remove "shield bash" from fighter
This would allow for more dynamic fights, create space and open a whole new way to play
Make it when warlocks miss COP on a target it gets applied to them instead.
An idea that could really help your deploy managements:
- Try to use some K8S cluster (if it's compatible with your servers)
- Take good stuff from K8S I mean you could easily implements a side car, more over you can provide a good load balancer that could really help you to migrate your traffic (it means that you have to manage versionning by providing some adapters and some interfaces)
I dont know which software architecture you chose but even if you'd chose monolyth it should be okay. Maybe if you encounter too much hard Time to deal with that you can put some wrapper over your core then bye bye hard work and you'll be able to start a modular architecture 🥰

Use GIT, Use a SDLC platform like DevOps or GitHub and implement CI/CD in Test env and make actions for prod. To streamline deployments and test changes more efficiently. How is that for a suggestion? Deployments should take minutes, and be error free. Every deployment here is a catastrophic nightmare. Every single time - "We've run into something unexpected"
Yea, cus you don't deploy to a dev/test env that is a clone of prod for testing.........this is going to continue to happen until you do so...

Friday is the day you want to rest, look on things you dont have time to look other days instead of production. (Such as technical debt or deep review of what you would like to put in production then push it on Monday)

I've even suggested the opposite, removing ranger traps as an item and making it a skill instead given how potent they can be in securing kills
With hunting traps being an item, and this would be the same if Caltrops and Smoke Pots were items as well, you can collect a huge number of them and then take them all into the dungeon in order to absolutely spam them
This is especially true if, like hunting traps, they could be gotten from the squire
imagine rogues with 20 Smoke Pots and no cooldown
I have imagined it. It's just as bad as an inventory full of explosive bottles and oil flasks, they are gimmicks...
furthermore, items should have a way to be used by more than one class, resourcefulness perhaps for traps, caltrops and smoke pots similar to invis pots

yes, something to incentivize their Rapier, rework their dagger buffs to piercing buffs for a start. Faster reload skill for their hand crossbow, and special shots for it similar to ranger.
also working on poison attacks that instead of dealing damage they work against stats... whittling away at strength, or agility
Rogue's already got Weakpoint, Rupture, and Cut Throat for some attack buff skills, but more wouldn't hurt
I'd like to see a skill that allows you to move or interact with things silently for a duration
its funny to me that one of the biggest weakness to trying to sneak around is a closed door
rogues already have the landmine angle, they need something more diverse
this is about moving around, wouldn't call that landmining
but I do agree that they need more for the duelist playstyle
I would also like to see them able to lock doors forcing people to hit a skill check similar to lock picking. They could use that to try and ambush

chasing a rogue through doors is already rough if you don't have something to break them open
speaking of tumble, tumble should be able to tumble strafe like left and right (or even forward for that matter depending on the key pressed when tumbling) so it's not predictable and "W key'able"
I meant locking a door to ambush someone trying to leave a room, but I see how it could be used like that if there was time when being chased
I mean, you can flick your mouse right before tumbling to suddenly move in a weird way, especially if paired with double jump
my issue with the current tumbling is two things
- its either needs to play out faster or go farther. While it does frequently reduce the damage you take from a swing since the attack ends up hitting your legs, it rarely allows you to dodge a swing simply because you don't move out of the weapon's range in time
- it should allow you to pass through people. This would make it amazing for adjusting your position in a tight spot
faster for sure, the animation is so slow, and why not just give 'I' frames for .5 sec while tumbling
I'm hesitant to suggest iframes
anything with iframes always ends up being used to do some funky stuff and in a PvP setting that is guaranteed to fester complaints out the wazoo
I could definitely see some slow immunity put on there similar to Fighter's Breakthrough skill, though probably not slow cleanse, gotta actually tumble before you're hit
I have played probably 1,000 hours and I only realized a few days ago there is a brightness modifier in the game settings. somebody pointed it out to me while i was streaming
No wonder people can see me whenever i feel hidden. Turning up the brightness for me was game changing as now i can see the true dark areas.
I find it crazy that the game is been shipped to new players with such a dark default settings but then allowing players to adjust this to make the game easier to play if you know how.
For this game to be equitable there needs to be a set brightness that cannot be changed and things like Nvidia filters disabled. Other games such as Hunt Showdown used to have similar issues with Nvidia filters until they addressed the situation and disabled them.

for the game to be fair though I feel everybody should be forced to use the same level of brightness. Obviously Ironmace cannot control adjusting things on monitors and some monitors are better than others. But they can control 3rd party software and the ingame default option
I am the type of person though who just uses default settings on most games. the only thing i would adjust would be graphics to gain frames. not really usually brightness and with this game been dark and darker anytime i have ever complained about dark or what ever i get told. its called dark and darker

some people have crappy monitors and need those settings to get back to the same level as other players
its a catch 22, either some people will use the programs for an unfair advantage or some people will be left with an unfair disadvantage

Any other game i would have probably looked for a brightness settings. but the game is called dark and darker. I thought the dark was part of the competitiveness.
if instead of light and shadows being control by a lighting engine, darkness was instead basically a black fog that had specific rendering layers to allow silhouettes and seeing illuminated things past it, I think that would limit 3rd party program's ability to mess with them, though such a change would require a lot of work to get done right
not to mention that would probably be hell for optimization, lighting engines have gotten really good at what they do and replacing all that with a giant cloud might tank some people's FPS

What if instead of cosmetic rewards high roller ranks give bluestone and/or redstone shards. That way players who want to play competitively are still rewarded but there's no more FOMO for everyone else

Make it to where there is no Map rotation, rather make it to where it is determined who is queueing for what. If a solo is queued, they go into a Solo lobby. If a duo or trio is queueing, they will go into the appropriate lobby. Love the game but this Map rotation has got to go. It's made it hard for me as a person who is a solo gamer, to complete quests. I often times have to use a duo or trio to complete quests and it usually ends badly, prolonging my quest progression.

as a solo, goblin caves only player. Without treasure/gear/monster kills AP and having a full time job...i reckon i am boned 
yea i do like the new ap system but foe the maps with only one level like goblin caves you need to add another way too get ap like make mobs count higher or make treasure only count in goblin caves for ap
i could accept lower AP for treasure, and work harder to find rarer stuff. Or if the minibosses gave higher AP. But pvp in GC is never worth it, either you win for a measly amount of AP and get no AP for looting them and then most likely get third partied, or you lose all your gear and AP. I may have to learn the other dungeon but i think Im gonna die a lot there and dont have a lot of spare time to learn it like i did GC.
make more integrated perk/skills
So if u pay and grind a little u get more advantages than f2p
they could rework everything to have three separate roles, for duos you can have two of the three, trio all three but not duplicates meaning no fighters and barbs ETC on one team, and have ranger, wizard, warlock, sorceror and rogue count as flanker support types, fighter barb monk and druid being close combat, and cleric and bard become support types, and a perk allowing cleric to use spells at the cost of shapeshift compatibility, then used in conjunction with spell memory changing it to support type, and finally plate warlock (the perk changing to change it's type as well so it takes on the fighter class as far as restrictions on class duplicates is concerned)
Was scrolling through my oldest message history, here we are almost 2 years later and the stash stuff is implemented via expressman. They're still working on the second part of the suggestion about refilling 2nd floor lobbies. How time flies!
guys for real imo all the thing that takes or give gold should be cut in half what give or cost 100g should be 50g cause i think gold is taking alot of space in storage especially when you have above 40k gold

so i watched the onepeg vid about the ap changes and i saw almost exclusively comments of people hating the changes, while my initial thought was that this interation is propably the best one we got for an AP system and it really motivated me to spam HR this season. Am i overseeing something or are the people commenting just your run of the mill flamers that gathered there for no apparent reason?

Pretext: The biggest problems we are seeing are class-identity failures.
Problem: Fighters are expected to be primarily melee-- knights. They currently out-archer Rangers and out-dagger Rogues.
Warlock's fantasy is strong, but involves lots of fleeing and is difficult to interact with.
Rogue's fantasy (as described in SDF's Q&A) is in the pipeline. Until that is done, they suffer with no damage and limited escape tools.
Bard's fantasy currently involves self-buffing and then shooting a bow while running away. Music is less of a focus than it should be.
Suggestions:
Fighter:
Goal: Encourage melee engagement.
- Weapon Mastery: Replace current penalty with a flat penalty to weapon damage inflicted by non-fighter weapons.
- Breakthrough: Remove. Grant its affects either to Taunt or Adrenaline Rush, whichever has the lowest pick rate.
- Adrenaline Rush: Remove negative penalties.
Rogue:
Goal: Enable escape and confusion until Rogue Movement 2.0 is complete.
- Caltrops: Infinite uses.
- Smoke Bomb: Infinite uses.
- Tumbling: Increase distance covered, increase speed.
- Double Jump: Remove move speed penalty.
- Hand Xbow: Remove access.
Warlock:
Goal: Encourage engagement.
- Vampirism: Grants 0% benefit at baseline, increasing to 100% based on proximity to a cursed target. (EDIT: Or, to exclude curse priority, just make it scale up based on proximity to a player.)
Bard:
Goal: Encourage music.
- Din of Darkness: Increase damage dramatically. Damage is divided between all targets.
- Piercing Shrill: Increase damage dramatically. Damage is divided between all targets.
- Replace survival bow access with recurve bow.

Hello! I'm new to the server but I think I got an idea to appease the complaints with the current state of the AP system.
Problem: I think the current AP system doesn't take into account new or inexperienced players who are looking into High Roller and don't quite grasp how it works but still hope to earn something from it. A few changes could be made to help these players at least get something this season.
Lot's of players say the previous methods for AP were better, I don't really agree since it promotes ratting and it's extremely easy to rank up for more experienced players (1M+ AP anyone?). So, instead of enforcing a boss rush and spawn rush intensive run, we could have the following:
Ideas:
* AP methods should scale according to current rank. So, we can have the previous system of looting to get AP and the more we rank up the less points we get until about the end of Pathfinder, when the current system prevails.
+ Early on it's easy to rank up and players need to optimize the further they rank up
+ Players need to learn fighting sub-boss and boss type enemies
+ Lower risk early on
- Higher risk for high ranks
- High ranks need to work harder as it is right now

the chicken jump is a cool tech that I don't think needs to be removed entirely, but being able to preform it on flat ground is a bit much, I think it should be situational and adding just a little bit more time transforming would make it so you have to jumping off something to get distance
This ap set up for HR seems cursed. @keen onyx @dawn grotto @fallen cargo this ap system makes it so teaming is basically dead... also it will just cause ppl to rush around points of intrest doing the bare minimum in-between. This enourages the worst kind of play, and it makes solo a near requirement. Please change in some way, maybe minor ap to mobs and to smaller cheast opens. Otherwise we will have warlocks rushing the map kiting miniboss' and all sorts of other foul crow play this season.

I get it AP needed nerfed for treasure, but screw the casuals that only get 1-3 hours (max) per day. Loved played HR for the AP grind. All it needed was more PVP/ bossing incentive and slightly less treasure reward. Instead we got a scuffed version of that, in which just screws the casual players in enjoying.
Bards, rogues and druids have the upper hand here as this AP system is only a rush to who gets the best chests first, who can make it to the rooms with the sub bosses first. It eliminates all actual real gameplay of the game.

Suggestion: Since SDF was talking about buffing all classes to be on par with druid, I recommend a new skill for rogue. Grapple hook. It would allow you to sling yourself into walls (SDF did say he wanted rogues to be able to climb walls so this would do it). You could also use it to grapple enemies to pull yourself to them or use it as an escape to pull toward a wall.

If the devs want to know why the player base is getting smaller and smaller, why this game is sliding towards death here it is. GAME BALANCE. The classes are terribly imbalanced and all the balance patches they do change too much too quickly and destroy some classes while making others completely broken. Move speed is ruined. You cant have a pvp game where the high damage, high health melee classes also have access to items and abilities that make them the fastest classes in the game.

This is a misunderstanding of Warlock identity. Right now, the Warlock doesn't have a single identity. It has 3-5 half-builds while not excelling at any one, so whenever one playstyle gets nerfed, the others arise and then that gets complained about and the cycle continues. Warlock needs a locked-in identity to build around. I'd suggest Warlocks get changed to be the ROI mage class. Spells cost HP but heal that HP back on hit. Don't need Phantomize in that case like how a Wizard doesn't need phantomize. Make the spells a little more diverse and viable. Life Drain right now can ONLY be used on Hydra because you have to stop moving to use it on anything else. Ray of Darkness is only good with maximum dark shards. These things should have use-cases that surpass the other spells available that aren't frustating to stack as the Warlock or frustrating to watch the Warlock reset as an opponent. These kinds of changes should promote similar engagement to a Wizard or Ranger at the least rather than filling curse time with Phantomize and hiding.

I would like to write about the current trio/duo game in terms of what I thought was missing from playing the game.
This is true for both random matches and pre-made, but there are too few resources.
More specifically, there are not enough treasure chests at the top.
Also, the items available after defeating the bosses are limited.
So someone has to withhold items and give them away.
And since there is no way to see someone else's inventory, we share our items based on the principle of sexual goodness.
And it is not only items that are in short supply. Statues of recovery are not available to other teammates once someone uses them.
In other words, whether it is a statue or an item, the first one to use it wins.
There is no lot system like in famous MMOs, so if you have a greedy player on your side, it is just not pleasant.
The greedy bard will open all the gold chests.
This is not a phenomenon that occurs only in random matches.
The same thing happens when you team up with a friend in a pre-made squad.
And when you form a pre-made squad, it is not always with a friend.
Forming an impromptu team in a valorant or apex is a type of play that many people have experienced.
You would think that this kind of phenomenon is a communication problem, but it is not.
The structure that allows this kind of play is flawed to begin with.
These problems are not limited to the root of items, but affect the entire team play.
There is absolutely no reason to work with your allies in this game.
If you are the only one who can return home, even if your teammate dies, you will be better off in the short run.
Take apex, for example. In apex, acquiring an item on the field called an evolutionary cash will enhance your entire teammates.
The result does not change no matter who acquires the item, but the stronger the team, the greater the chance of becoming a champion, so players who want rank points will naturally cooperate with each other.
In apex, if you act to survive as a team, you may end up with more rank points as a result, and even if you go down, you may be revived later, so there is also the possibility of sacrificing yourself for the team's victory.
However, in dark and darker, the disadvantage of your own death is too great, so sometimes the choice not to play cover for your teammates is a reasonable one.
After all, allies in a random match are disposable and there are not many reasons to protect them desperately. This is true even with an improvised pre-made squad.
For example, if a dead ally has a troll skin, more people will probably take it for themselves.
This would not be morally appropriate, but it is a common gameplay practice. It would not violate any of the rules.
So the benefits of acting as a team should be introduced as a game system. Efforts should also be made to provide equal resources.
The old MMOs with this kind of item routing problem died with the times, and so should DaD.
When I play FF14, I am rarely ruled by bad feelings.
This is because the game system encourages moral play, the lot system exists, and the game master forbids cheating and harassment as a rule.
In DaD, there are times when it is in your personal interest to kill your allies and there are times when it is in your personal interest to let them die.
And it seems to me that sdf wants to make the game casual, but in this game where potions and bandages are a really high cost, it is very hard to get gold, so you cannot play casually helping your allies.
The cost of gameplay is so high that it would be more reasonable to be able to bring back a troll skin that costs 5000g just for yourself.
If this is a GOLD CHEST, then I don't need to tell you where this is going!
So how about adding a feature that allows users to gain as a game reward for cooperating as a team?
There should be a lot of added value to saving a buddy, moving deeper with a buddy, or assisting or killing in PvP.
And when I am not getting good rewards.

As a different topic, the reason why rogues are still so useful in D&D is that the job of opening treasure chests is very important when playing in a TRPG.
But in DaD, bards can also open locks for free, and there are lock picks.
A ranger can place traps without a park, but a rogue needs a park to open locks.
The bard has the advantage in root because the bard can increase its luck with more parks.
The rogue looks more like a bandit, but loses to the bard in both luck and park.
Wouldn't it be appropriate to the concept to design bard and rogue equally as a game where you can enjoy root?
The bard can contribute a great deal to the team, but the current rogue seems to be a solo game-specific performance.

While I won't contest that Warlock's non-curse kit needs some improvement, in fact I'll agree, your premise is wrong.
The warlock we have is, just like in Dungeons & Dragons, a hybrid spellcaster with aesthetic focus on demons and dark magic. Warlock isn't intended to be a pure caster or RoI mage... It's supposed to be a "dark paladin" and/or "dark cleric".
Blow of Corruption, Blood Pact, and Phantomize are all ways that this manifests. The class as it currently exists does very well to emulate the things it is inspired by. That is Warlock identity.
Gul'dan, a hex blade, an agent of the fae, a dark knight, Faust. So on and so forth.
Warlock isn't meant to be an RoI mage. It's a hybrid. Like in Dungeons and Dragons, where in the modern era of the game it famously sucks at sustained casting and gets most of its power through cool secondary stuff.
In which media exactly is a Warlock a dark cleric? I get the mirror between gods and patrons, but the difference ends there. Warlocks manifest in a plethora of ways across media, from Eldritch Blast bots, to necromancers, to blood rite cultists (which is the closest to Dark and Darker Warlock), but currently the Dark and Darker Warlock class doesn't match any, and then within its own system (meaning as a class in Dark and Darker and disregarding other representations) it is torn between a ritualist, a hexblade, a demonbound shapeshifter, and a dark mage. It tries to touch on a little bit of a few things, but offers no cohesive identity currently. I personally would prefer a dark mage with blood magic elements since that already has the most groundwork in the current class, but I could also see the hexblade option. All that to say, the identity does not necessitate Phantomize and BoC and so they are merely options for the devs to implement and could be left out while building identity around spells and mechanics.
The current class system's strength is the ability for characters to fall into distinct "subclasses" as you describe without sacrificing core identity and vibes. Not using that strength to touch on as many warlock archetypes as possible is a mistake and very short sighted.
Also, Lovecraftian warlocks tend to take the dark cleric energy. So to your question: most pulp horror.

Rogue should not have invisibility. We learned this lesson with Wizard's invis. Don't listen to the crying Rogue players who think "Stealth" mean being able to go invisible anytime, anyplace. It's toxic, and anti-fun.

DaD is a tough game and items deposited disappear while you are resting because you are tired.
Especially when I lose at high roller, I sometimes close the game immediately, so I want the items to be stored for a longer period of time!
Or how about creating a stash exclusively for them like a shared warehouse and automatically pay them gold coins to retrieve them?

My plan would be this
- I would like if they looked into ranged damage scaling from dex just like Dungeons and Dragons does. That would make ranger initially more effective in range by default because they would fire faster because of action speed as well. Which is what you want, because it makes Ranger feel that much more competent and like they earn the right to be a Ranger. Ranger should in general be able to do more damage with bows unless drastically out gear scored.
(Though I haven't looked into the items and other sorts of things that could mess up.)
- They could then change forest hood to be dex.
Which would help bring the player fantasy of a class like this to fruition.
What I mean is. If you like ranger, or rogue(classes with similar type of aesthetic and power fantasies) you want to be quick, and agile.
I also understand this could make ranger broken and would need balancing since I honestly hate playing broken classes. it feels unrewarding. So testing is of course required.

My biggest focus when it comes to games is to make player fantasy the most important factor.
Player Fantasy > Balance when it comes to enjoyment of a game. Balance is a close second to it. But if a player feels like they aren't living up to the promise that their character design makes they don't like it. (Think concord. Designs made no sense to the playstyles)
For example: Barbarian = smack smack smack rawr, Rogue = sneak sneak sneak stab, Ranger = Shoot shoot shoot run, etc.
Traps are functioning as ways to hold a line of scrimmage. If they can be disarmed so brazingly they would only be able to be used as sneaky hidden haha i got you traps.
Maybe if you had to take the trap perk for faster setup it would make sense. It would also bring a bit more value to that perk. But that perk would still be considered doodoo I think.
(That perk in general needs way more juice. Same with the campfire one)
I propose:
Trap Perk: Setup time for traps greatly reduced, Traps setup by you do more damage, you can disarm traps by hitting them. YOU CAN THROW TRAPS AT PEOPLE(This one is a joke but how funny would that be.)
Campfire perk: Greatly reduce campfire setup time, heal from campfire while standing as long as not using weapon. Reclaim wood of a campfire allowing an extra re-use but at a lower quality.

I like the idea, I guess the issue I have is that dex would be an insane star , it would add damage AND attack speed. Might be too much, ranged damage is already something the community complains a lot about
I completely agree. Realistically bows base stats without the dex would need to be nerfed quite drastically to make up for the changes. But this still would allow ranger to have it's fantasy. Without straight up removing bows from fighters weapon mastery perk.
I understand people might think "Oh he just wants his class to be OP" but I assure you I much prefer having a class of mine hover around A to C+ tiers. I get no joy from abusing broken stuff.

See this tells me you don't know the full context, rondel dagger is the only problem, and it's not just the dps buddy, prot fighters use them as well cuase of MS and stick ability that comes with it, you're basically a tanky rogue with no stealth

There isn't anything conflicting about it. Daggers just attack way faster than everything else while doing basically the same damages as weapons the hit 3-4 times slower. My wizard merks people while using a Rodel lol. Fighters is not the problem, hence why they removed daggers from warlock
What if subbosses were like regular bosses where if you leave the module/get into a cheese spot where the subboss can't reach you, the subboss loses aggro and gets back to full HP?
In crypts, make an artifact for invoking each boss, place them in current level2 rooms to make points of interest. Add an altar in inferno to summon the boss.

Bear is not the problem, if you die to a bear its skill issue. You can pretty much spam arrows at it and he will die.

i suggest that you should add hitbox points to the game its just like the ones with dummies but on real players, bcs sometime it feels like its unreal i see guy hit him 10 times its on half hp check stats he dont have pdr... add dammage points
Ima break it down as to why it's conflicting the figters identity, the fighter is supposed to a balanced defenseive/offencive fighter, the rondel dagger pdr build turns them into a tank that you can't run from, while the slayer fighter rondell done too much dmg BECAUSE OF SLAYER, if you nerf the rondell like you want guess what, you didn't just nerf the fighters, you nerf your wizard, and other ppls rogue. Where as if you remove the rondel from the fighter like they did with warlocks and ALL daggers, that solves the issue without harming the other classes.
I don't blame you the devs don't listen to the people, they don't change broken metas that have been in the game forever

Suggestion: Change the new AP system to be actually new player or average player friendly. The sweats can compete their K/D ratio and in the HR scoreboards and in the Arenas W/L etc -- plenty of content for sweats to sweat on. The AP rank system from Neophyte through Demigod is like the only progression system that exists for the average (and new) player in dark and darker, and the new system is EXTREMELY unfriendly to new players and average players in it's current state. Many of my friends quit playing for now which sucks
Suggested changes:
- For AP Entry Fee: Remove the entry fee or make it much less.. Players already lose their kit which is enough incentive to not want to die..
- For AP Lost on Death: Lose 80-90% of earned AP on player death (instead of 100% current) so that even if you die and lose your kit and AP earned, you atleast still feel like you are still (slightly) working towards your goal and you didn't waste 15-45minutes...
- For AP Earned: Make every little thing in DaD give a small amount. I love the player kills being more incentivized as they should be, but playing any part of DaD should give AP like looting little chests, killing regular mobs, and looting treasure, etc. Just simply make the AP value rewards much lower for stuff that has less risk but not zero.. More Risk more AP Reward, less Risk less AP reward.
- I'm not saying make it easy, maybe even reduce the total amount of AP available while also reducing the entry fee/AP lost on death. That way players still have to Play the actual Game a decent amount to get ranks, but given that the AP system is by far the most exciting DaD progression system for the avg player - the average player can actually participate and have a chance at getting high(er) ranks by playing DaD

Only note I’d like to say is that I would imagine most new players r f2p and so don’t actually have access to AP at all (I myself am 1)
👍 All the more reason to make the AP system more available to the bulk of the player base 🙂 More fun & accessible AP Progression system = more people will buy the game to join in on the fun. 2/6 of my friends that play DaD literally upgraded to Legendary status and bought the game last season to work their way up the AP system (now 6/6 of us have bought the game + spend some on red shards). This AP system has turned most of my friends off this season sadly

U just compared druid to old rogue. Old rogue if it was in the game right now. U wouldn't see a single druid. And no druid is running magic healing so that 150 hp heal can't happen and won't happen. Thy nerfed the healing bug with rat

I feel a feasible druid "fix" would be to simply require them to be in human form before morphing into another animal.
Keep it instant, but instead of going from chicken to rat, or bear to chicken - animal can't go to another animal, you would have to go human > bear > human > panther to switch forms.
Maybe even a small cool down would be okay on that animal they shifted out of. (edited to better flow with this idea)

I think that's subjective, as I play druid in nearly every aspect of any game I touch and -- seldom, if at all do I see druids shapeshifting at will. It requires some effort to commune with animals and become them, and it should be that way a little bit. Animals shifting into other animals is a little bit more of a fix, and subjectively wouldn't in my opinion kill the feel of it.

Solution to the ranking system: ranking system is now linearly gained by extracting after gaining a specific amount of AP in raid, what I mean by this is this:
Let's say you need 500 AP to extract as an example, when you extract with this amount, your rank goes through like the 3-4 tiers of neophyte or whatever rank, maybe higher ranks have more tiers to climb through. Dying deranks you by 1 tier. Ap simply determines whether or not you'll hit your rank up in an individual raid, meaning you're not trying to maximize your ap, but simply hit a minimum requirement for your rank up.
It wouldn't though, just requiring you to be a human before shifting only slows down the druid which is what the problem is, which is why I suggested that as a fix. Even I think, as a druid player that it's excessive just being able to instantly and freely change forms for no cost and no limitation. I like it, sure, but it is OP.
I think even that would be okay, just get charges back simply by sitting. It would require them to think about using their forms, rather than spamming them
Maybe it could work like Left 4 Dead's push mechanic where the more you use it within a certain timeframe the longer the cooldown between uses gets

Why not just nerf how fast they can change? Instead of Shapeshift mastery giving instant transforms, why not reduce the "cast time" by 50 - 75% and give the ability to transform into any form at will? Maybe without the perk, then they'd have to use humans as a "bridge" to the next transformation.
So let's nerf how much momentum the chicken can conserve from panther dash, since it's pretty much always necessary to get a lot of distance.

Because the complaint is mobility, so slowing down the cast time isn't entirely a solution. Going from bear form to a hyper mobile critter is pretty frustrating, because they can leap through doors, go heal, and come right back. All that would be changing is the timing of which these skills would need go occur in order to successfully do it.

you absolutely suck with druid then, because people keeping distance does nothing when they can spam transform from bear to panther, pounce, chicken air jump, bear on top of the enemies head from a mile away like airdropping a bear then right click, if they go to block or parry you manipulate your hitbox by simply turning causing you to be unpunishable, and either panther chicken spam away, panther pounce then transform, or a long list of other tactics causing it to be basically incapable of being countered if played right, an unhittable, uncatchable abomination of a class, the main problem is it's ability to transform and cut off other players routes of escapes with thorn wall and vines and ent, and or heal spamming themselves if they get hurt AT ALL and going back to full within .02 seconds, they need to have some way to limit them to either or so they aren't so unbelievably versatile, either spells OR animal forms, or at the very least nerf the animal forms transformation time with the insta cast perk and change it to reduced casting time
The game is supposed to be hard to learn. Once you know how to fight enemies, game (mostly pve) feels trivial and easy. We need noobs.

it is an exaggeration, but with a couple stats in magical you heal insanely fast compared to other classes capable of frontline, you can just left click to avoid blocks very easily and mix up your attacks with occasional panther and erratic movement making you nearly untouchable because the hitboxes are extremely exploitable in animal forms
here's a suggestion, the guy spamming two songs with a toothpick and a dunce cap shouldn't be able to kill a demon pact plate dude sacrificing his health for raw power and smacking him with a sword the size of the twink with a big metal toothpick

I'm not saying it does beat them point for point of healing, what I AM saying however is that it has better utility due to the fact you sacrifice less to retain the healing, as well as the passive healing being incredible with buffball warlock as it cancels out quite literally all of the downsides allowing a warlock to spam power of sacrifice like it's nothing, and can still heal while being able to one shot full vigor max health PDR barbs in HR runs which is BEYOND nutty, "functioning as intended" translates to "I'm a dev and I control the balance of the game, I main this class and enjoy exploiting it's blatanty obvious broken bull, so I'm going to just tell people in the nicest terms possible to go F themselves"
One is for instant, massive heals if built properly and the other is for sustain and ignore, meaning a 'cast and forget', enabling the Druid to be more active- whilst the Cleric, actively has to focus on solely healing to keep a front line front-linin' and what not.

and considering the actual healing potential isn't that much worse numbers wise while having a benefit of being more flexible, something this class is far too good at doing because that's literally the entire point of fighter and it does it so well that it's just flat out better at DPS, tanking, healing (due to it's ability to do so flexibly and not lose focus on everything but healing and still have good ability with it) and mobility, no class even gets close in capability in any facet of gameplay, nothing can and ever will match it's maneuverability short of actual legitimate flight and the ability to phaze through doors which will STILL be worse due to casting times, nothing can match it's current damage because one click ends 99% of builds, the 1% being a buffball vigor check barb, and an ability to heal flexible enough to actually benefit more than a cleric due to not needing to aim for shit and or focus on healing unlike cleric with the added benefit of a perk tailored to bonk warlock (which I actually like that perk, melee on warlock should be forced with armor and come with melee-focused benefits, encouraging variety within the class and nerfing caster warlock in a way that allows it's other features to be somewhat rebuffed

Honestly just the ones that make sense after a long rest + ranger jerky, because you'd be cooking it on said campfire.
Keep random rolls but make it so each class has its own loot table. For instance, gear first discovered by a rogue isn't going to roll mem cap or knowledge and gear found by a wizard isn't going to roll physical healing or additional weapon damage.
This way found treasure can still be an exciting part of the game and won't be totally worthless to the player 95% of the time

The game seems to be trying to change to much too fast like instead of adding a bunch of new stuff don't also chang major functions like adding ruins express man and religion then also changing the AP system add new stuff then sit give it a bit see how it affects HR while it's live then make your decisions
SDF means that high-end gear will no longer provide an advantage in PVP but is instead meant for personal satisfaction. If I don’t have an advantage in PVP, why would I need such gear?
Suggestion: Don't fundamentally change the game that has been carefully curated over years and made your company successful

@keen onyx if and when you remove stats from armor, may i suggest a system like borderlands in regards to badass rank points. if you are not aware what it is .you will get one of these tokens that give a stat boost (like +1 strength) and then the next time you get a point it randomly gives you 4 stats to pick from. It could be another strength add on but much less. ( +.5 stength) and each time you spec into that same area, the bonus becomes less and less. That way even if we are level 100 we can still earn these stat bonuses to incentivize playing and grinding.

Make constructive suggestions about how or what to change about what's an issue for you. They'll never "remove" a class
the TTM is actually the best its felt in a long time
Let players keep their gear on death, give them a chance to build their best kit over a season and not lose it all in an instant because the other player gear checked them. Introduce pvp titles or special gear that requires x amount of pvp kills to buy from vendor such as World of warcraft. I think this would retain new players. The amount of times ive accidently killed a Timmy in HR then saw they had blue and green gear and then i think to myself 'shit... they probably are gonna quit'. But if they didnt lose their gear then they would learn, maybe grind more for better gear ETC
I just wanted to do my community duty and offer my thoughts:
1) Please make quest advancement the same on all characters so that i don't have to play a specific character to advance my rep
2) Please re-work Charismatic Performance. The songs are pretty, i want to hear them without sour notes
3) Fix the expressman by sticking him in the spawn room of the following map. When players leave the spawn, he disappears.
4) Change name colors for accessibility and lower them so that they are easier to see in close combat (color blind mode would be nice)
5) A choice for changing voice. Currently it is locked at character creation
6) Introduce a mail system so that you can send players items without making them join the trading hall.
7) Change savage roar so that it freezes mobs (It glitches and does this anyway half the time)
8) Change arena so that you can only use gear found in the arena. It will slow down progression as the season continues and make it more skill based
I agree with re working charasmatic performance. Make the song play faster with the perk but it fails if you miss one note or something. Effectively achieving the same effect. I doubt anyone who struggles with the mini game is actually playing Bard. That said, I wouldn't want to penalise people who genuinly do need that support.
4 and 5 would be good from an inclusion standpoint.

I agree especially with 1 and 2, having to do quests on just one character restricts my ability to play other classes since I play to do a lot of questing, and the songs are great and there should be more options for them

The best way to make crypt and inferno viable and fun again and get rid of boss spawn randomness is to put Lich King in crypts and change inferno size to 6x6 and put two boss rooms for Ghost king and Skeleton warlord.

If you're going to threaten the player base with bans maybe you guys need to explicitly state in your patch notes what level of "friendliness" constitutes a ban? If I am observing a situation and don't want to take the fight with a specific person is that ban worthy? Do I need to run it down against every person I see even if it's a bad fight for me just to avoid a ban?
This whole being ban for not fighting in HR seems crap too me. So now we either run, fight, or get ban... I get no pre teaming, I get no teaming generaly even to clear rooms n such, I get all of that, but making not fighting bandable seems stupid. Making not fighting a banable offense is stupid because it is forcing this to be aalmost only a pvp game. one massive change that i think everyone would appreciate would be to have control on what gear and weapon skin is show, at least have a basic form of it that let u select skin from your class, but best and what would make a amazing feature would be to be able to select skin from any class, this suggestion may sound useless to some but to me this would make me be able to select gear base on better stat for my class, because its not what i am doing i select my gear base on skin that i like first then i will select base on stat, to me how i look mather more.. even if its penalize me to me how i look change how play, even if there is no roleplay at all in dark in darker i always will be a big roleplayer
Their communication is wonky, but the part you should be paying attention to is "teaming" and not "friendly encounters". The word "teaming" by itself answers the questions that you're asking. If you meet another player and simply decide to avoid each other then you're fine. If you actively cooperate to conquer PvE or PvP then you're teaming.
It's a lose/lose situation where you either promote freedom and allow rule breakers to skirt around the system, or you restrict freedom in order to tighten the system around the rule breakers and give them no room to act. No matter what happens some portion of the game populace will be unhappy. So they simply chose what they believe will produce better results
"Friendly encounters are prohibited" If you decide to avoid eachother that is being friendly towards one another, no? I agree they likely mean overt teaming like that but to threaten bans with this poor of wording is not ok. If the person you are avoiding just happened to kill another player and that dead person is now spectating you two "avoiding each other" they are likely going to throw a report. My suggestion was primarily that they need to be more specific with their wording and rules if they are going to threaten bans. You are also assuming you know exactly what they meant by that, which I don't think anybody does.
Again, you're focusing on the wrong part of the message. I can say with high confidence that "friendly encounters" is not what they're looking at, and that's just some colorful wording SDF chose to use after the main part of the message, which was "teaming".
And ignoring each other is not teaming. Nor are they likely to enforce any kind of punishment if they don't have definitive evidence of teaming
I assume to know what they mean cause we've been through this together already as a community. And they've made their thoughts very clear multiple times in the past when these things have popped up
They want to get rid of non organic teamers who're exploiting the game for a competitive edge. In all likely hood, I think this rule will give them an "excuse" so to speak to ban people who they think are competitively teaming but hiding behind an "organic" mask.
Again my stance is mostly that they need to be deliberate and clear with their messages if they are going to threaten bans. They have had enough time to understand their communication is poor and make that better. Colorful wording is not appropriate when you are risking a ban.

I understand removing teaming in HR, but removing ALL friendly interactions is weird imo. Not everyone does HR for the AP grind and its lame that if you want to fight harder mobs that just means you arent allowed to be friendly at all with anyone you see :/
Sorry ironmace but no type of teaming should be banneable. If 2 or more players don't want to fight let them. If 2 or more players want to team to have advantage over a solo player let them. If 2 or more players want to team for easier pve let them. Teaming is the ABC of any RPG, and one of the few good things we have in dark and darker. If some players are annoyed by teaming is because you forced a competitive philosophy on a game that never needed it and that if trys to compete with real competitive games like csgo, lol, dota, starcraft, ... will lose.

@keen onyx I was thinking all about the interviews I have seen of you, and all the comments from you I have read about the game, and I think you already have the solution to the problems facing the game as you keep stating it from what I understand. You say the game is too friendly, that people have too much gear fear, that the economy is over inflated, that real money in the game is a big problem, that less scrupulous need to be dis-incentivized, that you want faster TTK, better skill expression on classes, and people to be able to maximumly express their skill in the game by making 1v3 possible.
I think you already have the solution to this, I think what you did in the arena will fix the game more generally for the changes you wish to make, make all lobby's operate on the found crafted system the arena does.
If you implement the found crafted system for the whole game it would make things as a whole feel less bad, and allow people to PVP more in the normal raids and HR raids. Players can still make money off kills looting their loot, bought gear, and supplies. it rewards the more hardcore players while punishing people who buy gold, just like in the arena. I think if you did that players wouldn't have as big a problem with HR forcing pvp with the new rules, and it would allow the game to focus more on skill expression then gold grinding. It would fix the over inflated economy, shifting it to crafting materials, making kits cheaper to buy so you could go in and get gear to have looted titles or materials for crafting. Further more it would allow players practice with setups they like, allowing for more diversity in play style. @dawn grotto if this seems like a good idea, please help SDF with any parts that might not translate well. I think you have the potential for one of the best games of all time, thus I trust you on direction; and if I am right about the things you want to change, then I think this fix would work great for those problems.

For the love of god, remove the concept of lobbies entirely and let us randomly drop into a huge dungeon landscape with no way of knowing exactly how many people are in there, or where they spawned (or when). Let us take down portals the instant we find them and get rid of this dumb time limit thing which is just the wish.com version of a closing circle. Reduce the amount of escape exits to 2-3 per map and make them infinitely re-usable, setting up natural PvP hotspots. You want a dungeon crawler but you keep injecting BR mechanics for some reason, well WE WANT A DUNGEON CRAWLER TOO, GET RID OF THE DAMN BR MECHANICS

I think all of us here can agree that both bear and cat forms of druid needed to be addressed and hit with a nerf/tweak hammer pretty well, but why did chicken need to be lumped into a massive downshift in pvp-ability?
Chicken form is already arguably the most difficult thing in the game to land a hit with due to how hitboxes interact with a chicken, and now these changes have made it so the form is incapable of offense whatsoever.
Please join me in the push to re-instate chicken to the form it was before so it's not devolved into specifically a movement form to pair with panther jumps.

Voted up. Chicken has been busted, as in hardly functioning, since day one. You can bite someone in the chest or even the ass as a rat, but you can’t peck someone in the chest or back as a chicken - you can hardly hit certain dungeon enemies. Chicken needs help.

If @keen onyx is seriously trying to focus pvp, and is taking our ability to use charisma in the dungeon to survive encounters we would lose if straight fought, then move the whole game to the same found/crafted item system of the arena. Yes and it is what make sense if you want to have a class based game with strong identities. If you start balancing around 3 different game modes you end up with thousands of hot-fixes that slowly removes class identity. Wasted resources to make the game worse.
Players wants asymmetrical games but don't want to face unfair situations and that is what happens with solo/duos. You have classes designed to be PvE oriented, Party dependents, PvP oriented, etc... All with strong class identities that lead to unfairness.
Ironmace had a very good first idea to deal with unfairness and it was randomness. With all the variables of a dungeon without restrictions you will end up having good games eventually no matter the class. But you can't design your game this way and hope no one complains. Instead of improving that they gave player what they asked having to spend hours and hours working on hotfixes to balance 3 games in 1.
Players now have their solo/duo but also less updates, more restrictions, flatter class designs, less roleplay, less variety of matches and the perception of DaD as a PvP competitive esport.

I have been playing nonstop trios with Randoms and talking about what @keen onyx has been talking about and have not found a single player who thinks it's a good idea to drastically change the gear what made this game feel so good was the fact that with enough time you could be stacked and create a kit that feels powerful and is a big reason the game felt so different from others and taking that aspect of the game away would just make people not want to put time into the game it would cause players to leave since the game wouldn't have what drew them in the game this season has felt really good besides the HR and talking about huge changes would just kill the player base that's staying
Technically he's not dealing more. It's just that he's practically as effective while taking significantly less. Even if a ranger does 10, 20, or even 30% more than a fighter, it doesn't matter if a fighter with a bow can still chunk you for a fifth of your HP. And even when fighting back against him he reduces that damage by half or more with PDR.

Maybe be a bit less heavy handed with nerfs and buffs. You can adjust classes in small ways and give them time to breath to see if you need to adjust again. This is like the 4th time i have seen a class get gutted with what seems to be no plans to stent the bleeding. I think my druid is doing 35% ish less damage on swings while hitting slower. No class would survive that kind of nerf especially since the hammer only nerf there were no benifits given anywhere else. Any classs take a 35% damage nerf and 10% ATS nerf they gonna fail. My bear paws are like 30 damage more then my spear in my HR kit. Now either i got to settle for a boring class or find a new game.

I feel your pain. I'm a casual that gets destroyed 9/10 fights in every game mode. While I agree with you to a degree, at the same time, what's the point of putting in those 1,000s of hours and crafting the OP gear if you get no beneficial advantage from it? If crafted gear only went against crafted gear, then what's the point or incentive to ever leave <=24 gear lobbies?

An interesting approach to matchmaking would be going off hours played. But with a free to play game that would be easily abused by ppl just creating new accounts. However, when they do that, they lose their craftables and all their unlocks. So it still kinda works, even when abused.
By creating a new account they would actually handicap themselves more than they would benefit.
With a.i. becoming so advance you'd think there would be a way to even incorporate it into matchmaking. Have a.i. scan a multitude of factors in your stats - hours played, wins, win/loss ratio, win streak, lose streak, # of kills/deaths, games played etc... then place you appropriately. This is as close to a fair balance as you could achieve. Gear Score just doesn't really work because I may get lucky and find a legendary piece, but my skill level isn't no where near ready to go against others in legendary. Not to mention if I'm a white gear going against other whites, or green facing greens, blue facing blues, then what's the point of ever risking anything and leaving the squire lobbies?
My experience usually goes like this. Win some games, get out with some loot, start stashing me some pieces for a 124+ lobby. When i finally think I'm ready, I equip my last 2 hrs worth of work, queue up, then get destroyed by the first player I make eye contact with. How motivated am I to jump into another game and do it all over again? I'm more interested in uninstalling and beating my PC with a ball bat. Current system just doesn't work. I been playing pvp games for 2 decades, and usually pretty good at them. This game makes me feel like I'm mentally challenged and never played a video game in my life.

Itemization is hell as a wizard. If it doesnt have true or additional magic then its trash gear. You need ot have everything you can with true or additional or your class is garbage and all the other classes get to have perfectly itemised special gear sets. Like what the fuck is demon set for warlock. Barbarians in copperlight 330 move speed and all str gear wtf is that.... Wizards over here like can I get a 2% magic damage bonus babbbyyyy
Game balancing in general is a massive weak point for this game. The changes come hard and fast, the meta is almost always unstable and classes are either god tier or trash.
They can’t do that bc of the player base bro we peak at about 18k players daily we are down 2/3 of the player count in last 3-4 months the game is technically dying so Asmuch as that would be better balanced we can’t do that till more players come in
When I'm on there's usually around 10k. That should be more than enough to balance better than it currently is. Even if that means a little longer queue time. I'm almost always in a match in less than a minute. I'd be more than happy with waiting 2 orb3 times that long for a better match up
they changed the queue system not long ago it used to take a while before and most the player count complained and stopped playing. the issue with this right is balancing it for casuals and sweats rn as is sweats are the majority of this game or atleast people who have multiple 100s of hours. imo they need to focus on this courtcase then set up some events after thats all done get the player base back up and then work on the rest
@keen onyx would you consider adding a fighter or a general skill for all classes that allows your character to kick open doors that applies a stun or slow effect to other players near the door? 
they talked about general skills for all classes before never heard of that one but being able to dodge has been a thought for the devs for a while
personally imo its not needed their are 3 classes that can alr open doors without opening them and thats barb.druid.bard maybe one more but i dont think so
I think having more door related skills between classes would be pretty interesting, for example wizards being able to seal doors temporarily or apply a trap like spell kind of like how TES morrowind had on some chests and doors.

They took it from the form that was far and away the most difficult to land a hit on, possibly the most difficult thing in the game to land a hit with, but at least had decent damage payoff if/when you got the hits, to a form that is still just as hard to land anything with, but now you have to land up to twice the hits on someone to kill them.

Bard is a support classes and is pretty much god teir Solo and duo. Cleric can support, tank, caster and Melee build. This game is inspired by D and D but not a D and D game. Its 100% not my full kit bear was doing 302 Damage head shots to dummies in GC and now is down to 185 if you want to be tech thats about 39% damage reduction. My bear Full kit is stacked Main stat STR and rolls Action>Dex>Vig>Max HP % . So yes the extra 10 action speed loss is still a 10% action speed loss. I have a 15k Mostly Legendary kit that is borderline useless. Worse part is druid super fun due to high apm compared to most classes and it required thought to play. Played my LS fighter bored in 3 games. Played My Lock Same thing . Barb i just left the game and haven't logged back into him dont know if the kit was taken or not didnt care enough. Problem with this game is your average player is complete dog water but thinks they are good. People cry about every class and beg for nerfs but the dont take time to even learn the details of their own class. Messaged a YT creator crying about bear on how to counter (was a felling axe barb) and his answer was that not how i want to play. Game isnt how you want to play its how you survive and find ways to counter every class or at least knowing when you are out gun. If i dont have my Str>Dex>Agi set i dont fuck with warlocks rangers and wizards. Because the counter me. I don't think a nerf to druid is a bad thing but try 10% damage loss or if you are going to do a huge nerf to all forms of damage then give something to help counter act all the loss
MS should only get benifit from boots. Agi shouldnt exist. Classes like ranger and Rogue should have a slightly higher base ms and only boots should add to the number. Everything else shout net 0 or negatively impact the number. No reason for full plate fighters base speed be as high as cloth gear. MS is a overwhelming stats and should be toned down made static.

The ones that have their key stat at or around 20, don't need boots and can run those with no chest, and be fine. The rest of us need boots for vital stats. The stat spreads are so vastly different it leads to imbalance.
Move speed meta is an awful product of bad design choices and not utilitizing the test server to actually test changes
Most mobs take 2 secs to deal with or you can bait an attack run past open and close a door on the mob. Also you can grab 2-3 mobs and drag kill them to clear faster most of the time you are solo within 1 node of your spawn point clear what you have to and a good rule of thumb for PvP have a regroup area preset you know you can shut a door and heal up without threat of a gobo blowing your back out

Now, what is a sling? A sling is a projectile weapon typically used to throw objects such as rocks or lead bullets at high velocities. They have been used in warfare since the Neolithic era and have been used to deadly effect against armies of the classical era and beyond.
Slings are underrepresented in contemporary media and rarely discussed. Few games implement Slings, but a prominent one is Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. In this game, slings are medium-damage weapons capable of launching two types of projectiles: rocks and lead sling bullets, which are made for armored targets.
In Dark and Darker, slings could be implemented not as a singular weapon but as two weapons:
Balearic Slings:
These are your stereotypical slings. They deal low-medium damage and are fast to reload. They essentially act as the counterparts to the Crossbow/Recurve Bow. Because of the simplicity of these slings, they are quite nimble, allowing the user a high degree of mobility. They have the same range as a Staff Sling but cannot throw anything heavier than what the staff sling throws.
Staff Slings:
These are slings attached to a staff. They deal medium-high damage due to the ability to throw heavier projectiles at much greater distances than the Balearic slings. They act as the counterparts to the Windlass Crossbow/Longbow. They have the same range as a Balearic sling but are slower to reload. Because of the size of their projectile, they could serve to deal with more blunt force trauma.
In game:
In game, the Balearic Sling and Staff Sling both work as skirmisher weapons. The Balearic Sling, specifically, chips away at their health until an opportunity arises to finish your opponent with melee. Both slings have different purposes and use different types of ammunition. The Balearic Sling uses Lead-Bullets, with slight armor penetration, while the Staff Sling uses large rocks, with an emphasis on blunt force.
Balearic Sling Game Design:
The Balearic Sling is meant to be the fastest and possibly the one with the fastest DPS. With slight armor penetration thanks to the lead bullets (anything around 5%), the Balearic Sling is meant to chip away damage, a completely different role than the Staff Sling, which specializes in slowing down the target. The Balearic Sling would have a projectile velocity of 35 m/s 2:35 But would have less damage than a Survival Bow at around 18-19 Damage. The Balearic Sling would have a much ‘slow effect’ than the bows, but not by much.
Staff Sling Game Design:

Alright game done. Druids Bear Right click has a decent recovery time so if you space properly you can punish with anyweapon. Most classes have range options such as crossbows bows and magic. Most class can use a 2-h that out ranges the bears abilities . Spear, Bardiche for sure can hit a bear while not being able to be hit. Longswords will punish a bad swing even left click swing has a chance if not a push back to get parried on the through swing. Bears are slower then any classes cant fit alot of areas and terrain is the biggest enemy of a bear. Panthers can output high damage but take timing and knowlege to play effectively since your hp pull is 75% of ur base allowing most hard hitters to clap your cheeks. Hybrid building is possible but you go from strong in either to doable in both. Druid Healing is mediocre due to HoT 15 hp over 10s mid fight doesnt matter to the instant healing a cleric can do meding grove is sanctuary with less of a zone and restore is strong but again a HoT. Instant heals are better heals. Druids have high movement yes, but you can shut down alot of it with a oil lantern or a explosive bottle. You dont want the druid to shapeshift. Get ontop of them their shapeshifting is super clunky. a mere pebble on the ground can prevent a transformation. Rat form is 1 shotable although it ius very useful. Chicken got a dmg nerf and its attack is so fked it gambling to hit. Literally all a druid has now is movment. But since no class can keep up whats the point. You gonna run and leave your team to do what? your clear time is much less so you cant preclear for you dps or tank you have to hold their pockets cause you cant holdout now. Casting is a joke. Our 1 dps spell for 15 damage lamo. Treants are easily killed takes 2 hits from most players.

this season first time I have played a druid at lvl 160, Its the only class that really needs a brainstem to play. There is so much quick decisions that are need to be made and reaction time test. There are many times as a druid a bunked shapeshift = gameover cause there is a slight terrain incline. Reason you hate druid cause your bad and dumb. When you run face first into and heavy hitter and repeat you deserve to lose your kit. I have literally bonked players launched them 20 yds away and the come running back in. Thats natural selection. "Druid's movement op" let me see you play a druid and do all the move tech. Do you know how many players can even chicken pounce to bear form properly? maybe 5-10% of druids due to it needs to be properly time and distance and elevation has to be accounted for. Hell i spent 1hr learning how to just jump through a door at a incline. How much have you spent on your class to learn anymove tech. prob none cause most classes are basic and straight forward. Since most fighters use longswords you work on how to get around them. As a druid i have to feint strikes and drag and if i hear a ping i have to react fast enought to shape shift rat create spacing jump shift back into bear or if i dont i lose 2/3 my hp (which as a bear was 240) and each parry swing legit does close to 1/3 hp if you dont. but getting 2 shot by a parry better then a slow ass bear who can follow up a second hit nearly as fast lol
Hell there is no point to support as a druid only thing you bring noone else does is a thorn barrier (scratch that warlocks have hydra). Why not just play a cleric who can out heal a druid, provide better buffs, Revive, oh and their spells scale really well. Also in D and D dont druid just lose form when it dies? I be fine if you allow me to have 5 diffrent lives lol

Oil lantern 1 shots rats. So if you transform into a rat in fire your dead if you transform and move forward give enemy time to hit you. you use it as a prevenetive measure. Adding arrows to the some sort of sight could cause a lot of problems for example you shoot someone once and they duck behind a wall but you can see the arrow still lol but I do like the idea of making arrows easier for rangers to find

Honestly, they should make Resourcefulness increase Physical Healing. Resourcefulness is the worst stat in the game because it provides little to no benefit in combat. Healing from potions can be increased by using will, but there isn't any way to actually increase the healing gained from bandages other than through modifiers. Adding Phys healing scaling would be a good way to make Resourcefulness useful, and make it so the classes that have high resourcefulness as a base stat don't feel completely useless early game due to the more important stats being so low.

@keen onyx You will kill the purpose of progression and gear if you add the abilities for squire geared players to be able to be a match to high geared players, I understand you dislike GBMM but that's not a solution, you could minimize the risk of low geared players being destroyed in PVP if you add the long waited large maps with random generated modifiers and maybe make it so that low geared spawn on map edges and high geared spawn on mid section and add normal/elite HR mobs on edges and nightmare/UltraHR on mid and make high valued loot to drop more on mid sections (that would also encourage low geared players to take risks and eventually venture to mid sections) and I guess geared players wont be able to rush low gear spawns due to lack of interest on low gear and for the fact that you want mobs to be able to open doors and roam the map eventually so I think that might alleviate the problem for a while until you introduce a better system. ( Thats my opinion it might have a lot of flaws but I think its for the best for the health of the game.)

Its unfair to pit low geared players against high geared ones, in the knowledge that high geared players WILL kill the low-geared. There's no question about it right now, they're looking to try and give the little guy at least an opportunity to "head-eyes" their high-geared target

Now, what is a sling? A sling is a projectile weapon typically used to throw objects such as rocks or lead bullets at high velocities. They have been used in warfare since the Neolithic era and have been used to deadly effect against armies of the classical era and beyond.
Slings are underrepresented in contemporary media and rarely discussed. Few games implement Slings, but a prominent one is Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. In this game, slings are medium-damage weapons capable of launching two types of projectiles: rocks and lead sling bullets, which are made for armored targets.
In Dark and Darker, slings could be implemented not as a singular weapon but as two weapons:
Balearic Slings:
These are your stereotypical slings. They deal low-medium damage and are fast to reload. They essentially act as the counterparts to the Crossbow/Recurve Bow. Because of the simplicity of these slings, they are quite nimble, allowing the user a high degree of mobility. They have the same range as a Staff Sling but cannot throw anything heavier than what the staff sling throws.
Staff Slings:
These are slings attached to a staff. They deal medium-high damage due to the ability to throw heavier projectiles at much greater distances than the Balearic slings. They act as the counterparts to the Windlass Crossbow/Longbow. They have the same range as a Balearic sling but are slower to reload. The solution to everyone's woes for when @keen onyx makes the game a pvp slaughter with no GBMM , shorter ttk, and no being friendly.
If you don't lose the gear you looted/crafted, you won't be as pissed and will play more regardless of the circumstance.

@sdf Frostbolt ~ Dmg 20-30 Slower moving projectile like fireball upon hit slows enemy movement by 10% for 2secs. With frost mastery perk it would still freeze in place but the debuffs would diminish at the same time. So the slow and freeze would be gone almost the same time so frost mastery would be fine. I suggest a round snowball like effect with iceparticles trailing the rear. This spell is tier 4. This spell would come with 4 charges. (6 with overload)

Map rotation was never a good idea to begin with. It doesn't solve the problem of duos and trios lobbies being empty, the people that want to play solo will instead wait, and after months of dealing with this system we've wasted countless hours of our lives waiting for the stupid timer

As i don't like solo/duo matchmaking i also hate map rotation but i agree that devs should add strong incentives for playing other maps even if it is annoying. I always wanted maps with dynamic loot density, this way if players only play one map, loot in that map will disappear eventually. Once that map population lowers loot density increases progressively again.

The random spawns would be nice but that'd be too chaotic. now when you enter a room depending on how the games coded. you can just get cucked bu a spawn on or infront of doors or buggy spots in the game. If that was the case for random enemy spawns now everytime you go into a game you'd be more worried about how many mobs are in this room. how many mobs can be in this room. It can also be really hard on the load times of the game as now you have to load in the map, the players usually as mobs are static and no extra code has to be run for the server or every other player. if there were random spawns the code would have to load in the map. run through the generation of the mobs, see if they are in blacklisted areas, delete blacklisted mobs in the area they shouldn't be, ect ect. Anyways thats if you went and placed a massive grid along the entire map and just overlapped blacklisted areas. if it was individual areas now the team has to manually add them to the maps, making it a much more of a process again cause now each room has to have a induvial spawn areas and when loading in into the game there are now hundreds and almost a thousand differnt Child entites on the scene tanking the proformance of the game and the server as it now has to deal with spawning high amounts of mobs occasionally and having too many mobs can cause an entity crash or it can slow down the instance you are in.
Usually when devs say random generation is not like in minecraft. They set the rules for the random generation, look at the results and select the best outputs, so those things doesn't happens. If you have a big enough pool of maps there should be no problems.
Also if you look at how mobs are placed in the current game, it is objectively horrible. Is like they placed mobs homogeneously, this feels not organic and leads to those cases more often.
You can set a number of spawns and locations in which they spawn just instead of being a room full of goblins every time, this time its a mix of spiders, skeletons and has a champion, for example keep the spawn locations already set, however change the mob that spawns that is all I’m suggesting

@keen onyx you are making some sense with your recent announcements. You are correct people want less gear discrepancy. People also want content! More classes, more unique loot like the minor artifacts, more bosses. Also another easy way to balance gearing is with the questing progression. You have got to make the quests make sense. The best example of this is the leathersmith. Why would they need armor scraps? why are the armor scraps so low drop rate. Its the first quest and you can look at the data, no one has done it. Make them progressive. the tailor shouldnt be asking me to clear bats when thats in hell, like that the should one of the ending quest lines for the tailor. Final quests with insane loot should be gated by bosses, which you've all done well previously
More than new class, artefact and boss I think an even more important content add would be thing to improve the game play loop, objective to do on the map like in this suggestions https://darkanddarker.featureupvote.com/suggestions/554235/dark-and-darkers-content-problem. Today, I’m suggesting the addition of slings.
Now, what is a sling? A sling is a projectile weapon typically used to throw objects such as rocks or lead bullets at high velocities. They have been used in warfare since the Neolithic era and have been used to deadly effect against armies of the classical era and beyond.
Slings are underrepresented in contemporary media and rarely discussed. Few games implement Slings, but a prominent one is Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. In this game, slings are medium-damage weapons capable of launching two types of projectiles: rocks and lead sling bullets, which are made for armored targets.
In Dark and Darker, slings could be implemented not as a singular weapon but as two weapons:
Balearic Slings:
These are your stereotypical slings. They deal low-medium damage and are fast to reload. They essentially act as the counterparts to the Crossbow/Recurve Bow. Because of the simplicity of these slings, they are quite nimble, allowing the user a high degree of mobility. They have the same range as a Staff Sling but cannot throw anything heavier than what the staff sling throws.
Staff Slings:
These are slings attached to a staff. They deal medium-high damage due to the ability to throw heavier projectiles at much greater distances than the Balearic slings. They act as the counterparts to the Windlass Crossbow/Longbow. They have the same range as a Balearic sling but are slower to reload. Because of the size of their projectile, they could serve to deal with more blunt force trauma.
In game:
In game, the Balearic Sling and Staff Sling both work as skirmisher weapons. The Balearic Sling, specifically, chips away at their health until an opportunity arises to finish your opponent with melee. Both slings have different purposes and use different types of ammunition. The Balearic Sling uses Lead-Bullets, with slight armor penetration, while the Staff Sling uses large rocks, with an emphasis on blunt force.
Balearic Sling Game Design:
The Balearic Sling is meant to be the fastest and possibly the one with the fastest DPS. With slight armor penetration thanks to the lead bullets (anything around 5%), the Balearic Sling is meant to chip away damage, a completely different role than the Staff Sling, which specializes in slowing down the target. The Balearic Sling would have a projectile velocity of 35 m/s 2:35 But would have less damage than a Survival Bow at around 18-19 Damage. The Balearic Sling would have a much ‘slow effect’ than the bows, but not by much.
Staff Sling Game Design:
The Staff Sling is meant to be the heavy hitter of the slinger class. While Staff Sling offers no armor penetration due to the blunt projectiles, it offers more damage. The Staff Sling is meant to slow opponents down, either while facing your opponent or if they are running away. The Staff Sling will have projectiles traveling at a similar speed to the Balearic Slinger 30-35 m/s, but would have more damage than a survival bow at around 24-25 Damage. The Staff Sling would feel much slower than the Balearic Sling and Survival Bow but would offer a ‘slow effect’ almost on par with the Windlass Crossbow. This can be adjusted based on player thoughts and balance.
The addition of Slinger weapons could bring variety to the ranger class, which lacks any significant content in the form of weaponry or perks (looking at you, Campfire Mastery.) The addition of the slinger weapons could add variety to the dungeon and make justice for the slinger weapons, which are so underrated in media such as movies and video games.

Sure but we don't even know if they actually use or read the website. Thing tend to show they don't, their is many suggestions that have been made on the website then added to the game but didn't got classified as "planned" or "done", some are planned but not in "planned" and in the same way there is suggestions that they said they'll never do but are not in "Not planned". I feel frustated to see some really good suggestions with a decent amount of upvote still in "Under consideration" pls show use that you use the website, use the tool you have. Honestly I won't be mad if a good suggestions with upvote get rejected even without explaination but right know we're just in the fog, we don't even know if they listen to us even on tve website that us design for that

i have seen an increasing number of piss rangers using traps killing the most geared players this is sooo frustrating there is no outplay if a ranger is just camping one spot all game waiting for someone too come no you cannot JUST LOOK DOWN all game when you step in the most random trap ever yes if you see a ranger then start looking for the traps but if you are just randomly walking and playing the game then step in one and die too a ranger camping wtf is the play there please tell me sdf id delusianal

class are good in some thing and bad in others, if you consider traps are that big problem play rogue

With SDF planing on drastically changing the game, ramping up the pvp and TTK, I think this would be an appropriate solution, inspired by the arena and dungeon born (probably the only good thing they did) to prevent the game from feeling realy bad after all the changes.
I saw you suggestion a few times but i don't understand it as i don't know what is the lootedcrafted status from arena. I have my theory but im not sure. If what you are talking about is the fact that you don't loose your self looted and crafted items in arena, i don't like it even for arena. If you lose the risk of losing your gear the game turns boring and casual and goes against all Dark and Darker original fundamentals.
That is what I am talking about. My point is that from watching SDF interviewed he says he hates gear fear, he hates how over inflated the market is, he doesn't want ppl to feel bad going in to play especialy after loss, he wants more pvp, he wants a shorter ttk, and he wants us to be less friendly. The solution I see that either fixes his primary issue, or the secondary issues caused by fixing things he dislikes is the looted crafted system.
Givin where SDF wants the game to go, idk how you retain or grow a player base beyond the sweats without that system.
I'm not even the biggest fan of it in total, I just thing it's the best route concidering everything he says he will do and everything he says he wants to accomplish.

I have my own thought about market and how it current state is not good. What i understood about sdf solution for gear problem is more about shortening high gear dependency by making it more similar between tiers not adding a permanent progression like what you suggest. And about sdf wanting us to be less friendly we can't be sure until the next hotfix as he says in his message. To end say also that he can't wish for more pvp and also say that he want more ways to avoid pvp, doesn't make sense.
game suggestion - change the drop rates of items because its a joke. 164 lvl ranger, 94 lvl fighter, lvl 60 warlock, completed majority of quests but cant seem to find anymore blue crystall balls cus they appaarantly only drop green for me or a yeti tooth. I totally get what you are saying. His solutions do seam to be a bit different then the ones I layed out. I came to this conclusion based of the arena ptimarly. They had all these same fears with arena and that was their solution. I also sugest it because ppl are freaking out about him wanting to get rid of random modifiers (maybe) and to decrease the disparity between gear. If ppl don't want gear changing, but hw wants those solutions, then I can't think of a better compromise that alredy has implementation in multiple games then the one I layed out. I am hoping for better, and without changing things the community wants I can't think of one. As for the end bit you site by sdf, yea it's prety confusing lol. More fighting, shorter ttk, but can't wish for pvp and wants to make none pvp play more normal for those who don't want it. Your right, we can't realy know untill future hot fixes and untill him and graysun hammer put better translations. I'll keep thinking and looking for better solutions, and trust SDF on what he decides, I just think this is the best middle ground between community and dev I can find lol.

This feels like a bad omen.
If they fix brackets this problem goes away, the low gear score won't encounter high gear score. But ignoring that, to get the gear or gold to buy the gear you will have invested time and picked up skill. It makes sense you would beat someone who has not. Why should the guy in 90 greens be able to kill me in epics? Why would I try to get more if the "lightweight fighter" hits for the same amount. At that point just fix squire pool and limit everyone to that to kill the game faster. Are we going to go to a karate touch point system where action speed and bad hits decide the winner?
These changes wouldn't even be that bad if they had fostered any trust and good faith that they could actually competently balance any of this with classes.
They've designed classes from the ground up to be gear reliant and now want to remove gear bonuses. A stock druid, cleric, ect ain't doing shit vs squire lock, barb, fighter ect the imbalance is inherent.
They haven't given these classes the ability to do as much as druid and that's where the resentment comes in. We get to do cool stuff and they can't, so what effort are they going to do to achieve the punching power of the heavyweight fighter

i think the goal is to do to all classes what just happened to druid where they buff the low end and nerf the high end through flat scores and scaling after. i think they will adapt the classes too to fit this. probably lower the mem required, maybe speed up cast time, but then reduce knolage on gear, somthing like that is my guess.

Yeah but how are we testing that with these random changes that just walk things back the next week. How many patches have just been "oh we fucked up" and walking things back. We still haven't even seen what skills are going to be given to the other classes to show "effort" or skill expression, everything is changing in a vacuum and means nothing from one patch to the next

guess at this point we are the testers. i would have preferred that they kept testing stuff on test servers, but i dont think engagement was high enough to be meaningful. early access always does this kind of stuff. i think they are getting better at this over time, each change seems more dialed in than previous ones. sure they mess up, they are human. and sure this kind of balancing is going to have back and forth, but idk of a game that doesnt have balance shift things back and forth. atleast they are honest, and are communicating with us. i agree it sucks to have a class you love shift a lot. i also agree we need more skills they promised for the base classes. i also think in the long run the changes coming are for the better inspite of the turbulent shift.

I agree, that's why my solution was trying to find the middle ground between what the devs want in game play, and in what they want in community. trying to offer a solution that is balance and based off past solutions. I think SDF should make the game he wants, and I trust him in direction of that as i already enjoy what he has made. I want him to reach his goal as i think it will be the funniest possible game, i just also want to offer solutions that meet both his desires for the game he wishes to make, and also his desire to serve the people who support his game.
if it were just upto me i would say random modifires should only affect mobs, and that gear should be flattened.
i love the idea that all you need to win HR is a set of blues and skill, not how it is now, but that's where SDF wants to take it. I was just trying to find a middle everyone could enjoy.

Druid is not weak at all. The nerf to druid was only like a 10% reduction in damage for bear form, and their ability to be SO mobile is what makes them so broken. They have the optiont to adapt to any situation by instantly transforming. Druids literally do everything people complain about rogues doing but worse.

My brother in christ. At LITERAL BiS, meaning max STR on EVERY piece it's only a 33% damage loss and that's ONLY on the right click, which the bear right click was the most significant nerf. You're bad at math and at the game if you think druid is still remotely reasonable.
Also the -30% action speed was already at 20. That was only increased by 10, which doesn't matter when you can move 2x faster than anyone else because you can combo instant transforms to cross tiles in seconds.
mobility is the essence of our class, we invest into a perk so we can do that. Keep crying though, your tears are delicious

There are other classes. You have infinite mobility, you don't get bis dmg, too.

Their movement speed is slow, considering we no longer get a boost and are typically pretty weighted in str / vigor gear. You can throw a torch and wipe us, drag any weapon swing and catch us, hit us with fire bottle, any aoe spell, we're pretty easy to kill, every form outside bear dies in 1 to 3 hits. At that point it's just aim which is again in the most polite sense a "skill issue" we squeak when standing still. And when doing any thing from jumping to attacking. I wasn't saying that to be cruel but we've lost the ability to reliably do damage in any form and have to be a less well statted spear user. Were as kneecapped as possible so asking for more just might as well ask us to uninstall the game

I'm not against buffing other abilities, but I want to point out that aside from being lucky enough to catch a rat in an open area, there aren’t many counters to this ability. I believe it’s quite toxic. Even SDF mentioned in his Q&A that while druids are generally fine, they lack counters. Fire bottles are inconsistent in how the fire spreads, and relying on them to counter rat form isn’t a viable solution right now.

I can get your frustration, but the rat isn't going to kill you, it's a benefit that the class even has a guaranteed one shot window at all. Could you imagine if that happened after a fighter missed block, a barbar stagger after swing? Sometimes you can capitalize, sometimes you can't. If they are staying around, aim improvement raises the chance of getting that hit. If there are any archer mobs that all have aimbot or. Floor traps, we can be pushed. If we're running away to safely reset you can reset from. Your position.faster with how our scaling is. I can get that rat may be frustrating and more items like the fire bottle might make it easier. I just don't want the one class I enjoy with this game to be bricked even further to the point I have to abandon a game I legitimately love.
I am talking about the rat in particular not the class overall, such changes can come with a variety of buffs, tweaks new spells ect that is irrelevant. But saying rat is unhealthy to the game is not a lie, it's not fun to play against-It's a bad game design. It's like playing gmod prophunt but without explosives. Reworking rat to have better counters that players can utilise other than a hail-marry swing or shot is far better. The oneshot window does not mean as much, when a druid is trying to retreat or reset they are low health anyways, and having a hitbox that small in rooms filled with debris far outweighs any minuscule risk you would have before. Rather I just don't want wizard and warlock to have a monopoly over counters.

I think nerfing any of the classes outright is a bad move-Classes should be powerful in their own way, with their own distinct strengths and weaknesses. The issue is that the game lacks the depth right now to really allow people to properly capitalise on different classes weaknesses. Thanks for the discussion man!
Yeah our main counters right now are warlock (for some reason the only hitscan class) wizard and anything that can. Do magic damage pretty reliably, will fighters shred us as well, I like having counters and strong matchups. I just wish they would flesh out all the classes at once and then adjust them

This is always so important. It has to be both. If something is fun to play as, but completely destroys the enjoyment of everyone stuck playing with, or around you, then it's bad design.
Rogue alsos struggles with this issue. Certain Rogue playstyles really are a meme, they're funny for the person doing it, but complete anti-fun for anyone on the receiving end.
Encountered a rogue yesterday on ruins. Double jump, Hide, hand-crossbow. I was running Platelock. The damage he was doing to me was negligable. But to say this was a fun killer would be an understatement. He just followed me around, staying out of range, and in cover so i couldn't land dark bolts on him. Once I was distracted with whatever i was trying to do, he would poke at me with the crossbow. There was no way I could get him off my tail, and it was impossible for me to catch him.

Disagree, immersion and fantasy are also enjoyable even if that leads to frustration in specific cases.
Invisibility is unfair by definition in a pvp game but we need it for immersion and class fantasy. You will feel frustrated if something invisible kills you, you can't avoid it. Maybe you as me, can tolerate/understand that case and enjoy the game but there are a lot of players in dark and darker that won't understand it and will always complain. This type of players are the majority because you can't expect all players to know the basics of game designing.
Most players enjoy games not knowing why, and your goal as developer should be to focus on creating the best version of the game you dream. One common mistake in Service Games Development is trying to gather players that maybe are not the target audience of your game.

I got a suggestion. Give bards bolas and fighters a way to grapple, then give mages a way to slow with frost cone, bards have lament a bigger radius and slow a little more. Find a way to counter move speed meta
GOBLIN MERCHANT REWORK:
With the new update of goblin giving back 100% of your kit I’d like to propose a rework.
With arena having the mechanic where you only lose items not named by you, I propose the same thing for the goblin merchant return. Have him bring back 100% of your “claimed” gear that wasn’t looted by the opposition. Then he gives you back 50% of what WASN’T named by you.
With this rework, less high tier gear items will be cycled through the goblin merchant/trade/marketplace. This also leave the decision to the player on whether or not they would like to take their BIS “claimed” items into HR and risk losing it to a team or used it for arena. Too much gear is being cycled within the community driving marketplace prices down and essentially making it less of utility and more of a place holder for selling items not “claimed” by the player.
That balance between Mechanic/Emersion is literally the art of game design. So im not going to disagree with you. My point is simply that classes like Rogue and Druid are suffering because the Devs are having a hard time finding that balance.

Yes and i'm telling you that the solution would be to remove access to some ranged weapon to other class instead of giving ranged option to everyone. Ranger should be the only one who can use most of them. Bard should only be able to use crossbow or even only hand crossbow like rogue and it's better now than fighter have the -10% damage back on weapon mastery but imo he shouldn't have the crossbow natively. And imo you shouldn't be able to bring a full inventory of Fran axe and Throwing knive, if every class have less ranged option 3-4 stack of 2 axe/knive would be cool (or make them craftable only maybe?)

honestly i think some classes should just be that, they struggle through gaps, sure they gotta tank alot, but base kit im getting 165 hp with 300+ ms, in trios its still super good for buff ball, but in solos geared its gonna struggle, why is that an issue, theyre so good at so many things, they do not need to be meta in every scenario for the 50th time

Now, what is a sling? A sling is a projectile weapon typically used to throw objects such as rocks or lead bullets at high velocities. They have been used in warfare since the Neolithic era and have been used to deadly effect against armies of the classical era and beyond.
Slings are underrepresented in contemporary media and rarely discussed. Few games implement Slings, but a prominent one is Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. In this game, slings are medium-damage weapons capable of launching two types of projectiles: rocks and lead sling bullets, which are made for armored targets.
In Dark and Darker, slings could be implemented not as a singular weapon but as two weapons:
Balearic Slings:
These are your stereotypical slings. They deal low-medium damage and are fast to reload. They essentially act as the counterparts to the Crossbow/Recurve Bow. Because of the simplicity of these slings, they are quite nimble, allowing the user a high degree of mobility. They have the same range as a Staff Sling but cannot throw anything heavier than what the staff sling throws.
Staff Slings:
These are slings attached to a staff. They deal medium-high damage due to the ability to throw heavier projectiles at much greater distances than the Balearic slings. They act as the counterparts to the Windlass Crossbow/Longbow. They have the same range as a Balearic sling but are slower to reload. Because of the size of their projectile, they could serve to deal with more blunt force trauma.
In game:
In game, the Balearic Sling and Staff Sling both work as skirmisher weapons. The Balearic Sling, specifically, chips away at their health until an opportunity arises to finish your opponent with melee. Both slings have different purposes and use different types of ammunition. The Balearic Sling uses Lead-Bullets, with slight armor penetration, while the Staff Sling uses large rocks, with an emphasis on blunt force.
Balearic Sling Game Design:
The Balearic Sling is meant to be the fastest and possibly the one with the fastest DPS. With slight armor penetration thanks to the lead bullets (anything around 5%), the Balearic Sling is meant to chip away damage, a completely different role than the Staff Sling, which specializes in slowing down the target. The Balearic Sling would have a projectile velocity of 35 m/s 2:35 But would have less damage than a Survival Bow at around 18-19 Damage. The Balearic Sling would have a much ‘slow effect’ than the bows, but not by much.
Staff Sling Game Design:
The Staff Sling is meant to be the heavy hitter of the slinger class. While Staff Sling offers no armor penetration due to the blunt projectiles, it offers more damage. The Staff Sling is meant to slow opponents down, either while facing your opponent or if they are running away. The Staff Sling will have projectiles traveling at a similar speed to the Balearic Slinger 30-35 m/s, but would have more damage than a survival bow at around 24-25 Damage. The Staff Sling would feel much slower than the Balearic Sling and Survival Bow but would offer a ‘slow effect’ almost on par with the Windlass Crossbow. This can be adjusted based on player thoughts and balance.
The addition of Slinger weapons could bring variety to the ranger class, which lacks any significant content in the form of weaponry or perks (looking at you, Campfire Mastery.) The addition of the slinger weapons could add variety to the dungeon and make justice for the slinger weapons, which are so underrated in media such as movies and video games.
Is 19 Damage for a common Shepherd’s/Balearic Sling a good damage output?
I was going to suggest probably increasing its armor penetration to 10%, higher armor penetration than the survival bow but lower damage.
Or maybe 15%. This way the balearic sling might not deal a lot of burst damage, but it has an easier time dealing its base damage.
Obviously, we don’t want to make the slings oppressive, it already has a lot of benefits going for it, like being extremely light and therefore making you way faster than a Survival Bow that’s equipped.

I’m keeping the damage 24 for Staff Sling, since it IS launching large rocks. I would say however that you might not be able to use the Staff Sling in confined spaces or extremely close range due to the arc of the staff, so Staff sling will only be used for far or running opponents
Not to mention, this completely ruins fighter identity.
The biggest advantage of the class is that it’s an all around and has many possible tools to deal with problems

HOWEVER, if there is a weapon that is ranged and FITS the class (because of the DND archetype and historically) like in this case, Barbarians, or people that were considered barbarian were known to use sling weapons. Then I can make an excuse for it. Bard having a bow or other classes just doesn’t fit it

Druid is still getting tuned, it’s greatest strength is the fact it can run from any fight it doesn’t want to, for free.
But fighting. A geared wizard wins, a barb that has a zwei and knows how to space wins. A warlock can win.
Warlocks damage takes time to ramp up, loses to a ranger with good aim. Loses to a good wizard that knows his spells are a bit longer then a warlock. If you zap a warlock from 8 meters, he can’t do shit , cause his curse is only 7.5 meters long.
Fighters are my favorite food, im a wizard, I counter fighters hard , I have a harder time against slayer fighters

I’m talking about general lobbies (all). It’s mostly dependent on what kit you’re running. Obviously, you’re going to perform better against fighter if you’re a wizard and you’re playing your cards right. A ranger might also win against a fighter, albeit, the fighter might just look like porcupine by the time he drops dead (Too much PDR). But let’s say you’re a weirdo, and you’re playing Windlass Crossbow Ranger (I’m guilty of this because it’s what I main.) you’re playing the weapon like it was intended, but you’re coming across Zigzagging PDRs with second wind, Bhopping Wizards that zap and insta kill you with fireball, warlocks that kite forever, bards with absurd dexterity, and Barbarians that just won’t die, and guess what, you only have one shot at the windlass, and if you don’t hit it, it’s game over. It would be fine and cool, if it wasn’t for the fact that the perks/Skills all almost concentrate in a specific play style that doesn’t allow for much freedom. How many crossbow perks are there? Zero. True shot and Pen shot are universal, the rest of the bow perks don’t work on it. Campfire Mastery? Give me a break. I think the main issue is that there are some people that don’t play ‘meta’ and obviously it feels unfair when they come across oppressive builds designed for pain. There is variety in Dark and darker, yet there isn’t, because everyone is always clinging to a certain play style designed to stomp any other opposition.

I look in the ranger chat. Every build is longbow, not a single crossbow. PDR fighters always carry second wind and sprint. Wizards are always throwing fireballs and ice bolts. Rarely do I ever even see them using their given crossbow. Cleric, it’s the same thing, occasionally I might run into a cleric that uses the bug spell which is honestly pretty cool, but that’s rare. Everyone is running the same thing with some slight variation, some stronger than others.
Then you got the rangers spamming traps. A crutch utility really.

And there is limited ways that certain classes can play solos.
I play wizard, and my perks and spells change depending if I play solos or trios. And that happens with other classes, you have way more variety in trios, which is what this game was made for.
And also, you say u want original and different things. But when they add slingshot or bola shot to barbarians, they will all use it
Which I don’t mind really, it would probably make barbarian less of a press W class and now you have to aim. Even if it’s just a bit. Of course, we can just make it so that only ranger gets the sling weapons and barbarian has to sacrifice something like the fighter.
I don’t mind a bit of subclassing for classes.
Like how Demonman in team fortress 2 is a demolition class, but can equip some boots, shield and sword and become something unique of itself. They could do that to ranger too, adding javelins so that ranger is still ranger, but it has melee capability and ranged capabilities but no anywhere near the range of, let’s say, a windlass.
But the melee capability isn’t strong either, so it’s in the middle. It adds different play style, something like slayer fighter but more ambitious
But at the end of the day, like you said, we still want the classes to have their weaknesses.
We have variety we just don’t use it.
Druids could be healers and cast spells, but being a shifter is just better.
Fighters could play slayer with adrenaline, but they rather pdr with a dagger and shield.
Barbarians can play pdr with one handes, but they rather be chest naked and use a two handed.
People chase the strongest thing, so you won’t really have variety except some meme builds you might see every now and then
Instead of buffing and nerfing certain things, what the devs should do is look back on unused perks and weapons and improve on them. But they rarely do that.

Okay i just gotta get it out of me. Why not make a class advancement or an evolution like a Cleric could become a priest or paladin and a fighter becomes a knight or a mercenary. it just feels wrong for multi-class, like the theme of the class would be gone, like a cleric who is religious could also become a warlock who worships a devil like it just feels wrong for me.
