I'm a very competitive player, and sometimes I like to go solo goblin caves to engage in as much pvp as I can manage. I seem to find ALOT of HIGH geared players teaming up in there and hogging the portals. I found 2 fighters, a ranger, and a barb all teamed up, the second I attacked one, they all switched to me and chased me away. I managed to kill one, only to find the rest cornering me and killing me, they then shared the loot with eachother... This is so messed up. Not answering your question, but if you are just starting I don't recommend rogue for it. He has low health and since you don't know mobs attacks and timing you'll probably get frustrated. Same if you encounter players.

youre right. I LOVE rogue based characters in my fantasy game, so im going rogue / ranger rn and it has been insanely tough. But im learning game by game, mob by mob, room by room. My biggest frustration is either being swarmed by mobs that aggro on to me whether im stealthily moving or just standing still

I don't know for sure if it scales or not, I usually run the weakpoint skill. Its tough at first as solo rogue but once you get the mob attack patterns down it becomes much easier

Was literally impossible at the point in the match, it was closing in the area with the wraith and skeleton knight and all those other badddies, tons of 1 use portals, I managed to open a portal after strafing for over a minute and went into the portal, and then someone else was able to go through it.

This has happened to me before my closest guess is that if it's not 'looking' you will give priority some that does see, even if the player is just around the corner.
If it's looking both, mob will go for the closest/the one who was chasing first.

as long as their original target is within range and they have a path to them, they will stick to them like glue (granted no one else hits them)
when their original target is out of range or behind a closed door, they start looking for another target and if they do not find any they will return to their original area.
