I’m not sure I’m guessing the data collected from this playtest will make them decide if level 2 is too hard for many players. I know there will be a lot of casual players and cannot even clear level 2 pve @buoyant adder

Still i didn't want to make it feel like i was catering to the casuals or new players, i only wanted to express that this game is GREAT and wish i could enjoy it longer or with slightly less stress, and i feel as if there are many people who agree with my statement, if not at least half of it.
The 10-ish minute timer to enjoy the maps is to short, and the zone closes in way too soon. Spawning on the edge of the map far away from the zone at the start makes it so you HAVE to rush and leave the area instead of actually doing what most others do at the start, killing a mob or two, looting a chest or two, and THEN moving on.
Oh yeah also the maps are really good ! But should they remoove wall spike on forgoten castle or at least highlight them more ? Or its just me dying to theses x)

me and my bud got there so many times, and only escaped like 3 times out of the 7 cause the creatures there are stupidly strong against most melee characters without a full team or high gear. We normally one cause of cheese tatics which i dislike using or by shear dome luck mixed with a little skill.

it really do be like that sometimes haha, there's a crazy amount of information in the map than you initially think ie secret paths, which side you can open cell doors from, etc
and i'd like to think that the wall spikes are part of learning the map, i 100% laughed at the comedy of a floor spike right behind a chest
RNG where you spawn is a big factor for solo Deep run. There’s only a couple of spawns that are pretty hard to navigate but not impossible. Even when I played with my friends I was the only one to always extract from the deep. Just gotta play slow and smart

that spider room is 1000000% toxic with grey 3 hit spider pots that have wall spikes behind them

the forgotten castle with lvl 2 map, the next stage was lvl 3, the goblin cave i tHINK was a lvl 2 stage too, seeing as a goblin could two tap a wizard thanks to its posion but i could be wrong

You can also destroy them with throwing knives, franscescas, and of course ranger and wizard. You also get the throwing knives/axes back
What do yall think about class do you think they are all well balance ?
i think there is definitely a level of counterplay between certain classes, but all of them are fairly manageable once you figure out their strengths and whatnot

Yeah that's the beauty of the playtest. The player count was 16 then they upped it to 18. Not to mention the spawn locations are very bad and very close together forcing PVP further. I hope they fix the spawns and Up the map size. Plus the first level of the dungeon I think is supposed to have 32 players and easier enemies and idk how that'll work. Hopefully a huge map though. And I think the circle is bad it makes it feel like a BR and not a dungeon crawler .
For me its getting tapped by rangers.
Pretty sure they said the circle was temporary and it was either to force PVP for data purposes or because they didn't have another solution. This is just word of mouth though

Yeah i also think that its about knowing how to play against each , but for example a barb that goes naked on a dungeon would benefit too much speed and not enough punish due to their class trait that make them tankier. Should we be abble to gain that much of a trade and abuse meta ?

Haha, youre a dream. I would say that the the CEO saying something means more than nothing. Speculation would be you and me sitting here talking about early access with absolutely nothing to back it up, sure an announcement would be great but saying that it is complete speculation is laughable. They also "just planned" to have a playtest during steamfest, announcing the exact dates and times just before the event.
The game is in a better state than alot of other early access titles and they have played the PR game geniously with the playtests so far, hyping the game up for each playtest. Personally I wouldnt mind them holding it back for a while because the game needs content but I would not be surprised if they want to get the money. The cynical me expects them to grab the cash.

yeah, i said that it was a 'complain' but not a really big one. overall i felt the game pretty balanced, and every class can be dealt with, if u play correctly. and that encounter is something i didn't come across too often, so i haven't found a way to deal with yet. i'll try that strategy next time! ty
There's a reason barb cleric and wizard was so viable this playtest as a team.
roar doesn't snare, haste requires a teammate you can also get hasted, invis again requires a teammate, you can also be invissed

I’ve had high level fighters take my team out this way, just speaking from experience! I was the cleric too and gave my team way too much of a gap bc he forced me to heal. Never be afraid to run away either if you can that’s still a W 🙂

Although he mentioned it could come early but, we didn’t get firm news if it was confirmed to come early with #📢announcements or on the official twitter which results in a speculation as it wasn’t confirmed afterwards but an idea he could be planning on doing.
As the game is growing more popular, releasing it early with so many bugs and server bugs wouldn’t be a great idea and i doubt they’d release the early access/beta so soon as they’ve got so much more features such as weight, repair, quests, class skill tree and service option all within the merchants and class which could bring even more bugs to the game and potentially game breaking bugs.
Thats why, they’re most likely going to do a 2-3 more play-tests to test these features before releasing an actual beta/early access copy of the game. But i’d assume, this is my speculation, i’d say the beta/early access would release 1-2 months before the full game release.
It’s kinda stupid that to counter barbarian you need at least one person (archer) to focus on the barb, just to PREVENT him from pushing you.
i had invis and haste but i was stupid and didnt completely run away, i was like "i can win with 10 hp left",
but when theres 3 he cant focus on all of us the only problem we encountered was arch with purple gear + if u have agility perk u can run faster

Yeah I was Jk, I was doing Sherpa runs last two days, inviting lower level players and giving them good loot. The majority of lower skilled rouges die really quick, but when you learn the class it’s really good
I did solo red dungeon runs on rogue with starter gear, speaking from experience.
Fart cloud is underrated, but I hope it gets a visual blur buff or any other buffs. Skeletons not shooting you in the cloud would be great

The only thing I haven’t figured is how to get the portal from a full hp barb. Unless person lacks brain cells/chromosomes or reaction speed, it’s impossible to leave (stalemate is the best scenario)

Had this happen one time, but knew that the room over had a wraith and skele champ. I pulled aggro on them, kited them to the Barb and hid to lose aggro. He was too occupied to camp the exit after that

well i was also playing 3 rogues and a guy on my team had full blue and he could easily kill barbs like that to the point where he was getting 2-3 squad wipes per run

Possibly, there been a skill tree that’s been locked for the last few playtests. Would make sense to leave it out for now so players can play a few hours during the beta and still progress a class to try out all the skills. Also test the meta for higher lvl play, see how max lvl classes interact with each other in PVP. All assumptions though

Cleric is shown more as a cloth armoured healer that’s more focused on healing and slight buffs. A paladin is more heavy armour, tank with taunts and armour/damage reduction buffs.

Can anyone shed light on the difference between "magical power" and "additional magic damage"? trying to understand what qualifies as "bonus" magic damage versus "total" magic damage and why the need for both exists
as i understood it, magical power is both healing+damage and also calculated as a % under ur character stats as just power

The stats need to be simplified -- also modified. There are simply too many versions of stats that are unnecessarily added to the rolls on drop. Obviously the meta of PHYS damage needs to be soft-capped as well -- but overall the game stats need to be modified and classes as well so that there are multiple viable builds for each class. Just my opinion -- everyone loves to clobber in PVP, but make the game slightly more reflective of the class identities (rather than Ranger just playing an FPS game while other classes just run at them. Make shield more relevent -- give Cleric more viable spell damage output [see Dungeons and Dragons, just one spell like Guiding Bolt would go a long way].
One solo game i found a room with light coming from the ceiling, and when I walked into it some rocks collapsed and i escaped the raid with all of my loot. I only saw that room once in hundreds of games and I can't figure out where it was. any idea?
make rangers stand still while shooting. make hunting traps take MUCH longer to deploy like a campfire. and rouges skills need nerfed. and barb needs to lose ALL armor rating when buffing. 150 hp is already a big enough buff

ive played all classes to level 20 plus every one feels over tuned besides clerics. cleric has buffs but does nothing when you swing one attack every 3 seconds.

No one fears clerics is my point. every other class is feared. if cleric can't get some kind of "fearing" aspect. at least make maces hit way harder or an attack speed buff slightly.

Sorry the game is canceled because too many people kept asking when the next playtest is, they're only releasing it at Q4 2024 now
Mostly in the previous playtest, i did a decent amount this playtest but i was trying to get experience doing bosses. I saw all classes equally this playtest in highroller except a lot less wizards and at the end of the playtest a lot more rogues.

Is individual keybind for spells something you’ve been considering for Wizard and Cleric spells? Like for example having the ability to bind E-Z-X-C-V to your five spells instead of having to use the wheel, feels very clunky to me

The Fighter class has a perk that increases damage while dual wielding.
i saw some rogues with 2 daggers, is there a benefit? u mostly attack with only one weapon anyway, right? or is there like a moveset advantage
While wielding certain weapons and holding left+right clicks you can perform a combo attack. Also you're able to attack in both directions without hitting a wall or barrier. Only down side I see is slower move speed which is why some rogues only use one weapon.

Mordhau exists, which is similar to the game in the medieval and PVP fashion, but prepare to be oneshot by some dude throwing mauls. Barony is great if you want more roguelike RPGs, and its basically a pixel version of it (No pvp), could say a couple more to pass the time if you'd like.

The data is better how do you think they grab data? its a pie chart with percentages lol they wanna see what people use the most and what people dont use what people play what they dont play and then they have suggestions to find out what people want and they only look at whats most liked it really isnt that hard for them to find out what to do and just do it, they also dont have to impliment every feature.

Is the fighter a good class to run? I played near the end of the playtest and have debated switching to barb. I usually play with my friend who is a fighter main as well, just looking for some advice from some more seasoned players

Watch the earlier dev Q&As, they have alot of info on this. @tropic wharf fighter is definitely good, it can use bows, melee and armor. Very versatile, but if you prefer a specific playstyle you might prefer something else like barb/ranger(/cleric?)
I’m a big pvp fan in the game, I like being able to tank and dish high damage which seems like barb, but I don’t want to die to quickly because I don’t have a shield, and not having a ranger or healer on my team (since I usually run with my fighter buddy) makes it hard to decide
Fighter is a jack of all trades and master of none, that's how it is in Dungeons and Dragons and how it is here
If you want a higher skill ceiling and want to be able to 1v3 if your good enough and learn it rogue is the best imo, I had so much fun after getting all my perks at level 20 and playing around with good gear, could easily roll up on a 2-3 man squad and take them all with potions

If you gear up through trade post Fighter scales better into the late game. Super tanky and hits hard. Barb is strong early, very strong.

why are shields the most unreliable thing ever :T iv seen so many streams of swords literally going through shields and i for the life of me couldnt get it to block reliably no matter where i pointed it and players will just beat around the shield -_-

not to be toxic, but thats a skill issue. it doesnt go through your sheild, it can hit your offhand, your head aswell as the sheild, or any limbs at all. you have to block the weapon at its top 1/3

well wouldnt you consider many people saying that it doesnt work reliably when we do do that a problem? what about archers and arrows ive litterally had them hit me square in my nose aiming up like everyone says through my shield. and even watching other streamers experiencing and complaining about similar things even clips for like jerma where hes had his shield up right protecting his head from an downward swing nailing him its too unreliable if you have to pixel perfect aim at a sword like that. somethings has to be broken if it you get a handfull of people saying skill issue and the majority saying its very fickle :T

Heals are hit scan, your curser has to be on them at the end of the animation. Its hard at first but i really like it because it adds a level of skill to healing that makes it where not everyone wants to/can do it

Not everyone wants to deal with dying to some other person 30 seconds into the game. Having both PvP and PvE I think would give the game a lot wider appeal. The current game market is missing anything like this. It reminds me of Eye of the Beholder from years ago.

yes there is, you go into raid full geared but you lack skills as an example, don't tell me that after death you will not be pissed of or scared before starting game
also if you have no gear, finding new match was taking no more than 1-3 minutes, basically better luck next time
I came to this game because it is full loot and penalty for dying, but also high reward, not for cosmetics or "PvE"
The game will sell better if it appeals to the widest possible audience. And no where did I recommend removing any of what you like.

Guess a lot is going to depend on what they want to do with the info, how much detail they are trying to get out of it, and how long it takes to code/change whatever they decide needs adjusting from it.
Separately there is also the time it takes to add whatever newer features that get added. Things I could see happening including, more work on the responsiveness of the game, the training section, and maybe some changes to the way stats work.
Ultimately, its going to come down to how fast they can process and just do stuff, code etc.

There is no perfect solution, the counterpoint to that is, you will lose a section of your playerbase if you don't ofter alternatives or, if they just immedately die to another player.

The "problem" as defined by Lucid was it would filter out the playerbase if you gave a non-pvp alternative. Either you don't get some players because they don't like/want/are turned off by pvp, or you in have smaller lobbies.

Making a game appeal to everyone usually kills it in my experience. WoW and Halo come to mind. When it comes to pleasing everyone you really make a mediocre game. I find the best games just specialize on what they are already good at

The irony to the current game design for me thinking about it is, even if there was no pvp most runs everyone could get out cause half the players died to the pve stuff. Other then greed or just because they want to do pvp most of the time you didn't have to kill anyone to escape.
Think about how many players WoW in particular has, If that's your defination of "killed" then everyone wants a dead game. (8 million players, 4.6 million subs, and its almost 20 years old.)

and really the desire for pve is most likely from casuals or people who know their skill gap lvl.
BUT people who say pve is bad or they don't want it in the game at all, are not focusing fully on the game or the longevity of the game. They want to kill people, they want to hunt, they like when low level noobs gather loot for them so they can kill them and take it.
Pve could be a whole other beast way down the line, heck could come out even after release. See how it goes. Or just adjust pvp so teams of people don't end up finding each other within the first 30 seconds of the match and get one tapped by a barb or archer.
i love the pvp and think its amazingly neat. ILL REPEAT THAT, I LOVE THE PVP IN THIS GAME, but still would love an OPTION to play pve with a friend or myself to relax, learn the game more, see more of the map, etc.
Again, PAST POSTS have made it very clear that pve would not connect with pvp, aka no trading, no character mixing, etc. So pvp wouldn't be affected by geared up pve farmers or whatever. Who ever doesn't want pve after reading this, doesn't care about the pve actually in the game, they care about less new people to kill in matches.

Who knows, if they don't have everyone on top of each other and its not so easy to encounter people than it may be fine. I personally just didn't enjoy about 6-7 runs in a row where I died to someone within 20-30 seconds of the start of the match because they started nearly on top of me.

You actually have no way of knowing, if there was a major gear disparity the problem would be virtually the same. There is a lot to have to learn just dealing with the pve stuf and the mechanics, someone coming swinging at you with a axe and ending your game isn't going to help that.

this is interesting because when we started playing with friends we died non stop in first minutes, after few hours we understood that because we lack skills we should focus on sneaking and listening for estimated localisation of players, after we finished I watched some videos how people play for ex. wizard and I finally understood that I played it wrong
I think the only throwables are knives, throwing axes. spears would be... seems like overkill or would have a range of about 2 foot

Yeah I like the story that the dev does to the first mob they encountered. I’m a fan of great difficulty. The idea that they slowly scale the difficulty by adding more levels sounds fun. More risk, more loot. I’d agree to them spacing us out more at the starting floor but as things get Harding putting us more and more together

There aren't currently any throwing spears. Also I wanted pve as well when I started but it really is just a skill issue. LVL 1 map will be easier anyway, and will probably scratch the itch that people have for a more relaxing experience

On the healing thing it does seem silly you can heal the enemy in front of you (goblin) if you happn to aim wrong. I think healing undead should hurt them. 😛 (which is a fairly stock d&d thing I think.)

lots of people want a trainning ground like the lobby so they can test weapons, spells, etc.
I do think people should be able to load into the training hall when they want if they want to see how much damage their skills and gear will do.
I never tested spells in the waiting area since it would use them up in the actual game which also felt wrong.

Training ground sounds like a decent idea but it will for sure lead to min/max spreadsheet meta and people will only ever use 1-2 specific stats
Look at any game with damager meters it turns into cancerous garbage while people try to optimize every drop of fun out of the game lol

It will at least slow it down, you have to go in with specific gear and risk losing it to test the damage. You cant just spawn in/out keeping different sets of gear until you reverse engineer the stat/dmg equations
again u can basically know ur damage with the stats and looking at ur own stats .... and they lose it they just buy another or diff one trades happen a lot i was able to get the same kit anytime i wanted
There are for sure curve points and soft caps on how much stats contribute to damage that are not shown on your character stats. I will all be solved eventually i guess
The Holy Light does damage undead when it hits them, only the weaker heal doesn't, sanctuary does as well.

Yeah I agree. I don’t think any class is necessarily broken unless played right but that’s just skill. I think a weak ranged option for rogue would balance them nicely like a hand crossbow.
I feel like players dont account for the learning curve of characters. I feel like Barbarian is pretty easy and quick to pickup and start doing well, vs. the struggle bus that is learning Wizard. But once mastered the Wizzard is 1000% better if that makes sense

Besides the fact that they stated that balancing is a second-grade topic right now (reasonably so, as many of the features that will be in place in the end for the classes, as well as some classes themselves, aren't here yet):
PVP Balancing is hard to achieve across all skill levels.
For example, nn lower skill levels, rogues rampage you with their MS and attack speed, whatever the class. Same with playing against Rangers.
On medium skill levels, barbs and clerics begin to be disgusting. You learned how to fight rogues and how to get close to rangers when they don't have supreme high ground, put can't melee through barbs health pool with them two-shooting you and don't have the (team) means to get through to a cleric outhealing and -buffing every effort.
On high skill levels, wizards are an insane threat. They know all the wits and knits of their spells and can basically solo-wipe a geared party, all whilst being sufficiently covered by their team.
Demanding balance is therefore - in my opinion - somewhat futile as it will always effect different skill-levels differently. Therefore it should always be considered very carefully where those balancing changes will take place, if that is wanted and how it effects majority/minority playerbase.
Biggest and from my point of view most interesting balancing aspect will be the PVE one therefore. So that indeed many "cheese-tactics" for mini-bosses, as well as the main bosses themselves get either obsolete, or are somewhat on-par with the tactics melee classes can apply (we all know what I'm talking about).
That's what I'm personally looking forward to. 🙂

My worry with dwarf is if their character model is actually smaller, allowing for shields to cover more of their body. Unless shield size scales with race size or something but trying to hit a shield sized body behind a shield sounds nightmarish
It wont probably affect height all that much, and besides that either the legs or the head will still be open. Plus you are probably gunna lose something like speed if you pick that class
I can't imagine dwarf not being +10 Physical Protection (?) Lower Speed and a smaller character model. But they would never have a character that can just walk through crouch holes

This is the core part of survival pvp game design which they’ve said they’d preserve. All of the people complaining haven’t really played much of the game. You will get clapped a lot when you’re starting out. Survival is not friendly to new players. But the charm of the game is when you start out getting clapped and strive to improve instead of giving up and eventually succeeding.

Eh, the concept of magic/non-magic classes in this game is a little diluted. Bard can very easily be introduced as a frontline class that doesn't scale with will/knowledge. It's a miscelaneous archetype. They can do whatever they want with it so if they want to even things up then they'll probably take that route.
I used to dedicate years of my life to a game where they had Bard as a playable class and its playstyle was to go all-in with iron knuckles as their main weapon.

I think another way to do it would be to have the item icon/frame/border be very bright and shiny. Keep the name tag the same but have the item icon itself stand out easily

I'd like to see not exactly skill based match-making, but more like gear based matchmaking. Doing runs with basics was kinda hard when ya get party wiped by a dude with purple gear that decided to not run highroller
My idea was that the lobby matchmaking should be based on "Hours Played": With the following tiers: People with <50 Hours, People with 51-200 hours and people with 200+ hours (whoever has most hours in pre-made party decides the lobby tier)
Because 50 hours is about an average timespan for an average person to learn the map and the game to be an adequate opponent, instead of having hardcore grinding veterans farm complete newbies. @kindred karma then your friend would be carried by a veteran player and would have to learn in a veteran lobby

like i mean say i have 200 hrs, my buddy downloads the game, so i play with him, say he invites me and we match make under him technically, ik some games have work arounds in match making if the person doesn’t represent the party in skill
also i feel like that might cause a drop off of players in the newer lobbies at some point, or the easily exploitable thing of just getting a new acc and transferring your gear if the game releases for free like i’ve heard it might
idk that feels like a weird system, i like the previously suggested gear based match making, say it checks for stats or the cost of gear in general cuts the ppl running the starter kit out from the people running actual kits, meaning easier starter runs and better loot for the people who run actual kits.
gear based matchmaking will rob much of the fun from the game, one of the best things that can happen is if you slay a full purple-wearing dude with your rusty grey axe in the face. the reason for hours played hidden matchmaking is so that the fights would be more even "skill-wise" so that hardcore vets can fight other formidable opponents and newbies can learn how to pwn each other. Also if people want to abuse it and "smurf" as in every other game this just means more money for the devs with minimal impact to newbie lobbies.
is the game going to be for free or is it going to be a pay to play? i’ve heard from a fair amount of people it’s planned to be free, which would make smurf’s an actual issue and not just extra money, and i imagine it being an optional thing would be appreciated, i don’t want to have to waste my time in a lobby killing people with starter kits when i am running a decent kit, i shouldn’t have to go to high roller to not be put in a practically naked lobby

ah that’s news to me, yeah, i personally just dislike the amount of naked or starter kit i would fight when i had gear, it was just annoying finding a wiping like 2-3 squads and NOBODY having any gear, not an enjoyable experience for either side as i get nothing and the people i kill don’t get a fair chance against me
As an average player myself, what really ruins the experience is to have decent greens/blues and then get farmed by 3-man streamer squads doing their kill farm challenges
even if you’re more experienced than someone, give a noob the best armor and best weapon and give a mid range player a starter or budget kit and the noob will still win, either way it should be optional
nah, starter grey level 1 veteran can beat a newbie in full purples 9 out of 10 from my experience. I've killed plenty of decked out people with nothing but grey hatchet on my barb
It comes down to game knowledge. Tarkov is similar - you can beat chads if you have superior map knowledge
I agree with this point, but to be fair barb is a special case since they are very strong with minimal gear, including starting gear, and their abilities give them armor pen so the difference between a fully geared fighter and an ungeared one is minimized for a short while. If you were instead a fresh spawned rogue, fighting a fully geared fighter, even if your opponent is playing for the first time, it would take way too long to kill him, and he would likely get hits on you occasionally
well, Wizards can do the same thing, it really also depends on which map and which part of the map the encounter takes place. The most important aspect of this game is still how well you know your surroundings, your enemy and how to navigate those obstacles for maximum advantage. Gear is secondary. If you meet fully plated out fighter in goblin caves as level 1 rogue, you can still create some fuckery for him just by pulling tons of mobs and de-aggroing with stealth and less experienced fighter would get rekt while it would take an experienced rogue to pull it off in the first place.
So technically any matchmaking should be gated based on hidden mmr (if not simply hours played) based on kdr-extractions-score etc. but very loosely to avoid long queues etc.
I agree with this first part, but i disagree with the matchmaking for this type of game. I think for this game its inherently better for players to choose their own "difficulty" to an extent like we currently have with normal and highrollers, but maybe have even more levels of difficulty.
This would allow players to choose "harder" content and by implication players to face, for the prospect of better loot, while also allowing newer players to use better gear if they want to, in "easier" content to bump up their odds of success. Ofc there would be risks to this aswell
There were a lot of decked out streamers, veterans with high hours just completely facerolling newbies who were just learning how to dance with mobs in the last days of playtest both in goblin caves and normal castle, my friend who i got into playing was being perma farmed by those premades or solos in goblins and was kinda frustrated simply because there were more people just running down the map looking for pvp than average players farming-trying to escape and i had to do a lot of encouraging to keep him from rage quitting 😄 Thats why I still think that a passive matchmaking mechanic allowing people with less than 20 hours of gametime to have their own separate lobbies would be a positive thing. Something like a tutorial mode basically, so if they meet a player at least they have some kind of chance for a decent fight and therefore build their appetite for more and more while also getting prepared to fight more skilled-experienced people.
Perhaps a queue for <lv15 and then once a char is maxed you get bumped into the mass pool
nah, that would just make vets create new chars all the time which they already do, if its account-bound and game costs money then at least devs profit from people smurfing and the amount of smurfs would not be significant to disrupt the system
I can see that some people would get discouraged by this, but like you said i think there was external circumstances making people spam lobbies with full purple gear, being the playtest ending. I dont think this is standard behaviour. And to provide the opposite argument, i also got rushed by these players who did no looting or anything and just ran through looking for pvp, and that actually taught me to play the game way better, utilizing invis potions, leaving some mobs alive to trick people into thinking the room hasnt been looted, hiding better, always listening for footsteps etc. In conclusion getting facerolled made me improve, and most importantly realize that i NEEDED to improve and subsequently want to.
the amount of level 20s in full purples in goblin caves was pretty sick considering the fact there were a lot of level <5 players just trying to figure the shit out, which can just cause too many rage quits instead of motivation. There's a difference between having a small chance and having 0 chance. People need to have their carrot with slim chance instead of that carrot constantly being taken away to keep them motivated to re-queue imo.
I spent too many hours and at the last days I also just wanted to run down the doors and look for pvp, personally each time I found a starter gear newbie who got 1shot I was disappointed because I just wanted to have someone to dance with and throw some franchescis at 😄 e.g. I didnt need anything to grind from mobs and I just wanted to pvp nonstop but i didnt just want to farm newbies with 0 challenge either. I tried High Roller solo but surprisingly the amount of ppl cheating in playtest is also pretty cringe edit: also, the amount of time it actually takes to overcome these frustrations as newbie is pretty considerable for people with full time jobs and actual life, me and my friend are lucky enough to nolife 24h/7 if we want to, so he had a chance to overcome what i explained, but for average player i can see a week or more playing 2h a day and getting absolutely rekt each day
So your reason for suggesting matchmaking is behaviour that you yourself participated in. Thats essentially you being a problem and telling the game to fix it
my personal hope/belief is that similar to other games like this (Tarkov being the best example), after a point the "geared" players will self select into more valuable areas - the playtest is so brief and the loot tables are so inflated that people go full gear in low roller right now, but longer term that's not really... affordable. People can do it if they WANT but they're basically committing 2-4k gold kits to a dungeon that will earn them an average of 1-200 gold profit. Not very commonplace when an economy scales up and last longer than a few days.
Hopefully release of dungeon lvl1 will help this, giving a higher granularity to the loot tables so people with those middling-kits have somewhere to be (instead of current, where if you have better than greens you're dominant in lowroller, but if you have less than purples you're underkitted for HR)
it goes both ways, i dont want to "fight" complete newbies and i dont want newbies to be relentlessly farmed like cannon fodder, so yeah im asking the devs to fix it, just slightly so it would not change the overall system
I personally enjoy not knowing who im gonna meet next, if its gonna be a new player unfortunate enough to be in my way, or a 3 man team in full god roll purples on their way to farm hell bosses

yeah thats why i only suggested a subtle fix that would not change the overall immersion of the game, you can have 3man team in god rolls in your lobby or a semi-newbie with 21 hours played. Instead of having 10 newbies doing their first 2 hours of gameplay and 3 man premade streamer group doing their kill farm challenges.
Problem is most people are newbie or semi newbie. only about 5% of all players are geared like my team was so it was bad luck for most players.
e.g. your playtime is <20 hours, you get matched with other people with playtime <20 hours, if you are 20+ then you are expected to have enough experience to play with the big boys, that's literally all it would take to passively fix some of this stuff. consider it as a tutorial, it should not hurt anyone's experience unless you take joy farming complete newbies who are still learning how to kill a skeleton 😄
Maybe, but i think 20 hours is a very long time to get comfortable against noobies and then suddenly you get thrown into the deep end. Its gonna be a very stark contrast

If you don't want to hand hold people, there needs to be a way to encourage/discourage experienced players to use normal castle/solo goblins as their own personal farm fest and strive them to play more high roller but i don't have a solution for this so i suggested something that could be a temporary fix for new playtest

Games do that all the time, they try to make the new player experience easier and easier and easier and softer and then we wonder why the remaining players want the game to become more casual friendly. Its because we were catering to casuals all along. Why do we treat new players as if they didnt come to this game for the same hardcore experience that the old players have? They are NEW players, not Newborns
If I joined a game known for its hardcore pvp, and that game was actively trying to shield me from it and treat me like i cant handle myself in the same environment as the old players, i would be freaking LIVID!!
The point of normal lobby is to get gear to go to high roller. If you are going into Normal lobby with Purple gear set and expectinging to find the same or better you're missing the point of the splitting the groups apart. One is to find some gear to go into high roller and some minor fights. High roller is primary pvp center and better gear and loot.
This is also why they remove leaderboard from Normals. Basically saying HA wasted your time if you're geared.
except its not working as intended right now, so there needs to be some kind of a fix to encourage new players to play not ragequit

Seems to be working for me. I can go in solo in normals and escape. They are also working on the solo map. You cant make it much easier for newbs at this point.
People also learn at different rates there’s still going to be some new players that will absolutely dominate the other new players in the freshie lobbies so it won’t fix a thing

If you look at the streamers, then most of their time is spent on normal dungeons doing X challenges, farming newbies for kill challenges or whatever. High Roller is not incentivizing enough people, having a lobby mixed with people who are literally 2 hours into the game with people with 1000 hours is obviously not beneficial for either parties
It also stops people from playing with their friends, imagine introducing a friend and you can’t play with them cause they don’t have 20 hours ingame. That would be awful design as not everyone wants to be forced to play with randoms or solo for 20 hours
What would be your reasoning to have someone who is just learning to kill a skeleton having to compete with 3man party of veterans just farming kills for fun?
What do you think would be more beneficial for the longevity of the game, having fresh newbies gradually progress the first few hours of game to get hooked and wanting more or having the majority of them ragequit and uninstall?

@pallid osprey Theres a difference between hardcore pvp and pvp with zero chance to win. People need to feel like they have at least some chance to be motivated to play. If you end up in 20 lobbies in a row where you get spawnkilled and ran over, most people would just feel they dont have time for this
What will deter more players and kill the game faster is if new player joins and is in a lobby by himself for every game for the next 20 hours also waiting for the full timer on the lobby.
You are looking at this from your own POV, try to look at this from an average dad POV who enjoys a challenge and hardcore pvp/gameplay but can just play 2 hours a day at most, it would take weeks to be able to have a chance to escape a dungeon, which is a bit overtuned, not because of game design but because of the playerbase's decisions
So your solution is he would have to spend 10 days playing the game before he suddenly gets thrown into the deep end and all that loot he spent 10 days building up suddenly gets ripped away from him by experienced players, because he never learned how brutal the game actually is?

The chance of getting 20 lobbies in a row with geared or incredibly experince players is astronomically low and even then the rush you get from coming out on top against better geared players or when it’s not even numbers is apart of the games charm, it’s unforgiving but rewarding to play against better players
lol? the game is plenty brutal fighting equally experienced players and monsters as someone who barely has any game experience, having a hidden tutorial-setting where you get to fight other new players instead of being spam farmed is way different, it would also discourage veterans from setting up kill farm lobbies because they would not find complete newbies but instead they would find people who actually already have somewhat of a clue whats going on

Instead of trying to change core mechanics of the game. Go belittle and make fun of those people with 1k+ hours running full purple in normal lobby for "kills" tell them they are bad and tell them they'll never make the leaderboards to a meaningful position.

I like those cash tournaments where you have 3-man groups farming normal castle lobbies to see which team gets most kills, its a full day of 100+ giga-experienced veterans just destroying normal lobbies full of people trying to figure out how to dance with a skeleton 😄 good luck playing as a newbie during that day!
