If your Scavenging skill level is too low, items have a chance to despawn from the bodies you loot:

• Nosorog exoskeletons (85%)
• Cz-M10 Spartan helmets (50%)
• other items except weapons and armor (0.25-4%)
  To avoid the despawn your Scavenging skill has to be level 17 or higher.

Additionally, in order to loot an outfit or a helmet from a body a certain rank value is required. The requirement is almost negligible, rank value as small as 7000 is enough to meet a rank requirement for any equipment.

You can gain trust by doing missions for all others, in terms of heavy use of disguise. Did a UNISG once where I had them all on 2k+ relation in the end, except mono and sin. Became very peaceful and disguise was not needed anymore, no matter where I've had been and no matter at what disguised faction ... as military in dark valley? No problem, as Duty in Freedom base? All fine. 🤡

As I understand it, in ShoC mercs and bandits were neutral because the bandit boss paid off the mercs to kill Strelok, so they were just like "eh, open season, I guess" so that's why they're blanket hostile to loners (and, by extension, Duty) and that it isn't like that in any other game.
