It's possible Ikan that Windows just closes gamma/anomaly to "protect" you. I wouldn't disable it, but add the exe to your allowed list.

you would have enabled Ammo Check in MO2, if it's on, you'd have a menu in MCM

the entire point of Ammo Check is to replace the 100% accurate ammo counter with a vague "green/yellow/red status"

Hey, got a couple of questions. I'm completely new to Gamma and think I went through the setup properly, but I've got a couple of issues that make me maybe thing something didn't go right:

1. Bought an APS Stechkin suppressor from Sid, but can't seem to attach it to the APS Stechkin. Neither using the hotkey nor dragging it over seem to work. Not sure if that's intended or not?
2. Later on in the day, I bought a Hunter's Kit from him. But I also can't seem to equip that in my backpack slot either.

Unfortunately reloading saves doesn't seem to fix it either.

I have a problem. Game runs fine with no issues and after I finally acquired artifact melter I went on to try and craft something with it. Crafting menu opens, I go to the artefacts tab and when clicking on one it crashes referencing r_string_ex

Hunter Kit isn't equipable since last GAMMA update, just keep it in your inventory to get the extra loot chance. Before buying a silencer or any other weapon upgrade hover over it an see if your weapon is been highlighted. If not, the upgrade is not for that weapon.

But Windows is a little bit nervous about timeoffs. When I start the game it opens in window mode. Then I klick on my desktop and the window disappears. Klicking on the Anomaly icon in the task bar brings back the game in full screen as expected. for me that's normal

Hi, I've updated my gamma quite a few times over major builds and file size has been rapidly increasing. I remember in the past after a certain major update there was a folder I could delete after install to free up quite a bit of space, was it RC3/downloads? I know it is ever growing but my GAMMA folder is at 114GB and there are several old versions of mods in the rc3\downloads folder, so I think there are definitely some files I can clean up at this point

then i recommend you to use a 3rd party app like TreeSize, scan the size of folders on your drive and act accordingly, i just did it really quick incase you don't want to dl an app, so basically, unpacked mods that take a lot of space on their own aren't plentiful, and even 1/4 of them are ones i added and aren't in base gamma, but what you could do is delete everything inside the "downloads" folder, it's compressed mods that you downloaded during install and that are kept here incase you want to reinstall them fast and change options or to update gamma faster using them; even if they are compressed as you can see it takes 20GB + for me and might help you with disk space ^^

Can someone confirm my theory:
When launching game from MO2, and game detects a crash, it creates a new logfile in anomaly folder, but when it thinks, it was gracefully closed it wont create a new log?

I did another clean install, closed the game, it wont boot up anymore from MO2, just closes after splashscreen but log file size is same and the same amount of characters?

Just found a wildcard band-aid. Since it seemed like a graceful close from the engine/game side and it boots up once after the reinstall I can cofirm it starts up now everytime when I get the issue, then just go to delete \stalker gamma\anomaly\appdata\logs\xray_username.log

It even works in windowed, borderless windowd, full screen etc

@willow hawk My dear lord & savior, can You tell me if the anomaly\appdata\logs\xray_username.log gets read or imported in any way? Manually deleting DLTX error lines have no effect, wiping file contents into 0KB have no effect, but every time I delete that file, I can launch game again.

A slightly annoying thing which can be band-aided easily but now I'm rather curious, since AFAIK usually coding wise output won't be read back in. Do You know if we have a way to check if a added mod tries to read a file?

the log is just... a log. It's overwritten everytime you boot the game

it's just a report, not something you are supposed to modify

if you are annoyed by errors: fix them. They aren't fat errors, just reports that some DLTX changes try to edit unexisting sections, not a problem, some of these are compatibility patches depending on optional mods used actually

I went over the files which I was crashing with and the "just delete the .log and .bkp" on windows level both of those had full access for user and system, by deleting just the log file I had to delete it every time I started crashing, by deleting both of them I'm no longer crashing (I tried to boot up the game 8 times, no crash), new files which were generated are equal in size, old .bkp is 9308 lines long and I can't come up with a reasonable explanation why it is so much bigger then the new one.

TLDR: from my testing it was better to delete both files

the .bkp is merely "your .log file from last time you played, with the file extension changed to .bkp" - if your log file was somehow causing a crash, of course it would also cause the crash

I installed Gamma after a long time today and saw that the weapons are acting wierd. the starting pistol named fort40 or something like that is placed at the very edge of the screen and when trying to Aim down sights, instead of putting the gun in the center of the screen it just zooms the screen. I also wasn't able to equip the knives I spawned using debugging menu. The scopes were also busted. I followed all the installation instructions word by word.

I was updating GAMMA and got to over 90% on the overall progress bar, but my internet randomly went down for 30 minutes so I had to restart the installer.
it's redownloading packs that are already done, and the MD5 is correct as well, what gives?
it's more frustrating in my case since github requires a VPN to access in my country so the update takes forever

it's redownloading the ones hosted on github because the "force git download" option is on, so yes, that's expected behaviour in this case

not an expert so I cant help with the rest, but the knife thing happened to me before so I have an idea as to what the cause could be.
some of the knives in the debug item spawner are actually an animation, not an item so you can't equip them. there should be another knife on the same screen that is the actual weapon. if you spawn that, you should be able to equip it

Three ways to see a fps counter:

1. Open console with ~ or \ and type rs_stats 1 (pops a little FPS counter in the upper left corner of the screen along with other info)
2. Use external FPS counters like NVIDIA Overlay, MSI Afterburner, etc.
3. Re-enable Reshade by following !reshade command in #🤖bot-commands (Reshade does take some FPS away, so it's up to you)

hello, i have a issue starting a game, i have the launcher version 6.7.0.0, have 518 mods and no X in MO2. I can enter the menu create a character but when i load in the world i hear a windows alert ping (dont realy know how to call it haha) and then it craches. I dont get an error message either and the log is filled with DlXX errors. 1. Open your G.A.M.M.A. Launcher as admin;
2. Make sure all 4 checkboxes are enabled;
3. Click Install / Update G.A.M.M.A. and wait for the install process to be done;
4. Open your MO2 and check if you have any red crosses, make sure that you have #📍577-mods-in-mo2.

This procedure does not remove saves, you're not going to re-download everything from scratch and it will not delete your progress, your saves are safe.
The launcher will simply check every mod in the pack, reinstall or fix them if you have red crosses and any mod that need to be updated - will be updated.

• In case you want to save your in-game settings and modlist (because the launcher will revert them back to default), type !backup in #🤖bot-commands.
• If you wish to keep Reshade, disable the last checkbox before clicking Install / Update G.A.M.M.A..

This procedure does not remove saves, you're not going to re-download everything from scratch and it will not delete your progress, your saves are safe.

Go in this folder: Anomaly\appdata, you'll find a folder called shaders_cache, delete this folder and launch the game normally from MO2, using your preferred DX.

You dont understand, I dont have better stats bar installed I just know its one of the mods which does it. My problem is when I hold CTRL to show the full armor stats againts other it doesnt show the true 100% stats, because when I change one part of the armor and hold CTRL again, it shows better stats, so it basically never shows 100% stats unless I fully repair it. Then that feature is useless beacause I cant see on the go if the armor I found would be better than the one I have.

addendum to this. I relaunched the updater to check if the mods aren't installed properly, it kept redownloading the exact 3 mods every time I started the install process (the ones in the screenshots + Nicer Flashlights).
After I restarted the process 4 times, I decided to give it a go and was able to start a test save in swamps.
But when I tried starting a proper playthrough in cordon, I got the same crash again

If you have "dubious ownership" error, do the following:

1. First close the GAMMA launcher.
2. Go to GAMMA/Grok's modpack installer/resources and run git-bash.exe as administrator.
3. Copy and paste the following command:

4. Now close git-bash and run GAMMA Launcher as administrator again and click install.

This procedure does not remove saves, you're not going to re-download everything from scratch and it will not delete your progress, your saves are safe.
The launcher will simply check every mod in the pack, reinstall or fix them if you have red crosses and any mod that need to be updated - will be updated.

• In case you want to save your in-game settings and modlist (because the launcher will revert them back to default), type !backup in #🤖bot-commands.
• If you wish to keep Reshade, disable the last checkbox before clicking Install / Update G.A.M.M.A..

Turn your anti virus and firewall off (Defender, McAfee, Norton, etc) temporarily to just update / download the GAMMA mods and when done, turn it back on.

When turning off your anti-virus and firewall it should look like this:

my only guess is you have blur scope on, but you said you disabled it so thats my guess

yes it is disabled. I've tried disabling it, enabling it, i've tried switching reticle, i've tried changing beef nvgs settings, nothing changes. It's like walls and floor were a light source, which is weird. Maybe i've touched a setting somewhere

yes i did i reinstalled windows at somepoint but never wiped the drive with my gamma/stalker stuff so only thing i can think of would be that since its talking about ownership?

If you have "dubious ownership" error, do the following:

1. First close the GAMMA launcher.
2. Go to GAMMA/Grok's modpack installer/resources and run git-bash.exe as administrator.
3. Copy and paste the following command:

git config --global --add safe.directory '*' and press Enter.

4. Now close git-bash and run GAMMA Launcher as administrator again and click install.

Hey so I updated gamma recently to 0.9.3.1 and noticed that i dont have picture-in-picture scopes anymore, anyway that this could be fixed? I had them before in 0.9.3

Does anyone know why my fps dropped from avg. 70 all the way down to 14-21 the moment I interacted with a trader and yes, I do mean its permanent, I tried going to other maps, different saves and so on... For some damn unknown reason the game decided to fuck up my performance the moment I just interacted with Cleric.
