Great thx for clarifiying! I really thought I read all about it. Might have misunderstood some stuff back then.
It's 5AM where I live but the upgrade thing should be correct 
So when it comes to repairing weapons, where are the best vendors for weapons parts? I'm struggling to find any in the major towns of the south. I was hoping to scavenge some good gear but even the mercs I take outr have completely broken gear. I think my only option is finding a broken weapon and spend all my rubles into fixing it back up
take only parts 60%+ it is more cheap to repair parts then to purchase them for sure. You can use file or ramrod if you have like one or two part to clean or a cleaning kit if you have more. I think you can purchase a cleaning kit around 5000 while a clean part goes by that price depending on the item. I think giving tools to tech also widen their parts inventory.
well I don't know if I am the best you to give advice I just spend Half an century not knowing how the repair kits worked

I don't blame you. The repair and crafting system is...well; a lot. gamma helps but it's still a.lot.
Also how the hell do I locate quest givers? I have 2 boar legs for Duty I accepted like a RL week ago from a random in Rostok. Is there a setting to enable tracking them like vanilla Anomaly?

Yeah it only work with barrels... Also never experienced that, (not being able to find quest givers) I had a quest to give a watch earlier and it did show him on the map... I know it might be dumb but is the secondary task button ON in your pda ?

ok weird shit, returned to cordon for the first time in a while, and there are two non-hostile bandits at the farm, even though I've done nothing to make them like me, and the mechanic/technician at the farm is just.. gone?
slept for a few days to test. it seems like every 2 days or so 5-10 bandits attack the farm? and then two non-hostile ones who I can talk to (just generic responses) stand by the campfire...
is there some way I can get the mechanic back? I still need permission to use his workbench so I guess that means he's alive but he's nowhere I can see

Not only. Both file and ramrods do barrels. And each of them works for another part as well. And then multitool for triggers and another one. If you place the parts together and have your inventory on the side then mouse over you will see which works with what. Or just right click details of part. But they have colours for that reason.

we all start at 0, dont even worry. I don't think everyone buys them, no. I know Sidrobitch in Cordon does, Butcher in Garbage and the professor in Yantar will give the best price. I never tried Spore in the swamps but I think he does
Spore is the guy in the big garage, not the technician in his chicken coop
also traders won't buy poor durability artefacts, you have to use the melter to repair them or fuse them into new ones
as mentioned earlier +20% should be OK - otherwise store them until you have the melter
was worth 45k and that's right out the village haha
they still have decent value even as crafting material for others, usually the ones you make are better
so i should go tto the melter? where is that?
you can buy artefact melters from the same traders you can sell artefacts to, they're about 12k/kit but you can use them to craft new artefacts or repair existing ones
they're basically tools/repair kits in the same way they work for armor and weapons, but for artefacts

i feel like one other place sells them but ya sakharov is the best bet
gamma has a lot of saving stuff up and coming back when you have the proper tools, but it's very satisfying
only getting broken artefacts with your first bear is a little annoying on the other hand tho
the only trader aside from sakharov that sells artefact melters is dr hermann im pretty sure and hes in jupiter

can bandits "capture" the farm in Cordon? is that a thing? they regularly attack the place but I just spent a while in the great swamp doing quests, came back to Cordon and Xenotech is gone, Loris is still there, and while hostile bandits still show up regularly there are 2 non-hostile bandits who keep spawning at the campfire there

it's weird, I can talk to these two bandits who spawn at the fire. they don't even retaliate if I shoot them. but hostile bandits still show up to attack the place.
and xenotech is just gone
the important npcs disappearing has been a known issue for a while and it was supposed to be fixed when "halved populations at hubs" was removed

Mutant behavior seems nutty; watching a bunch of cats that I haven't interacted with run a hundred yards, around a gate, into a building and up a set of stairs to get to me is the kind of gamey behavior that kinda pulls me out of it; that's not how animals do.

my last game it took maybe a day to get the notification to pop but now I have passed like 7 days and want to finish the next step and cant

its just stalker npc pathfinding and detection, there could be some addon on moddb that changes it (somehow) but highly unlikely

YACS might cause issues if disabled on saved games, since I think it adds quite a few new campfires

I expressed it badly; it's the aggression that gets me, not the pathfinding. It's rare for animals to be that aggressive in nature, especially against prey that are bigger than them. Seeing them go after dangerous prey with little to no regard for their own safety makes them feel like game mechanics rather than creatures.
I should note, I'm not talking about the wacky-ass mutants here; I've no basis for how pseudogiants act in nature, so I'm not criticizing them.
Oh yeah, cats are absolute a-holes. They’ll sneak around and swipe you. I think most mutants will beeline to you if you agro them, even if there are other enemies in the area shooting at them

Okay! It took a lot of work but I was able to respawn Xenotech after he disappeared. Turns out it's such a pain because for some reason he is blacklisted from being spawnable via the debug menu. Here are the steps to do it if Xenotech disappears for you; mods feel free to pin this if you think it will help people in the future.

it's why if you try to spawn esc_smart_terrain_5_7_loner_mechanic_stalker in the debug menu nothin happens, unless you edit the blacklist.ltx thing and then repack.
no idea why he's blacklisted from spawning in the debug menu, don't see how that helps anything

@willow hawk just to bring this to your attention, important npcs (specifically xenotech (tech in cordon), pergerine (tech in yantar) and spirit (cook in yantar)) are apparently still disappearing for people, and spawning them seems to be a mess by itself from the posts above
i have noticed the characters in army warehouses (lukash, solid and leishy) will sometimes move from their spots to drink in the building to the north east but they seem to always come back now at least, they used to disappear sometimes
is there any way to make the sky less bright
since the ground is really dark it hurts my eyes and makes it really hard to see thing in the distance

Get them from the dead bodies of your enemies/allies, repair them, wear/wield them. That's about it

the field cooking kit? its very common from stalker loot, stashes and breakable boxes and you can craft or buy it

You can check in Confing in the menu for FDDA. There are some options as well.

I have them enabled all and i have no issues. (Sometimes the game crashes instantly for no reason, no error in log too, but i think it's from something else.)
Normally it would crash with error for artefact that i use a "destroyed" item or because of "Incorrect parameters" or something. While i was doing Mortal Sin it was alright. Somehow stable.

Hi guys, downloaded gamma recently and started playing. Everything works fine, but every stalker of every faction has his name starting with an A. I play on russian localisation and some names are in English, also starting with an A.

NVGs get no upgrades, just the ones you craft Mk1 > Mk2> Mk3, similar to PDAs
Yes, this is intended. The other ZCP was the 1.5 version that was added but it caused crashes/issues, so Grok reversed to the 1.4 one for the time being
It really shouldn't take that long to load into a game, unless you were exaggerating. My SSD loads games in about 10-20 seconds? I've honestly never timed it, but it's thereabouts
Starting a new game, however, will take a little longer
i think a fellow stalker was right and after all it should be anomaly in the ssd instead of gamma.
I personally have them both on SSDs, mostly because I don't have any HDD 
for the loading times at least. and then you get crash when it needs the gamma files

How do disguises work? Can I walk right up to Sid as a merc with a loner disguise and go "hey can I pay you to have the loners stop shooting at me on sight?"
Or is there someone else I can talk to for faction relations besides Sid?
Ecologist suits work the best for disguise. Most important factor is the state of the suit. So better have it fixed up fully before going to hostile bases. Also an important factor is an active item in your hands. Having a weapon in your hands raises the suspicion level.
As a merc you can talk to Aslan for hostile factions to stop shooting on sight. But if you get too close to them they'll smoke you.

The other method for long term is to replace parts and clean the gun.

Buckshot is not useless - you are using the wrong ammo for the enemy type I assume. buckshot for mutants and unarmored heads, otherwise use AP ammo, Slugs etc

You can find guns with parts in good condition. If you don't have any tools yet keep the guns with barrels that can be cleaned with the common maintenance kits. They have a green highlight. You just replace parts once you collect them and fix them up with files and clean the barrel before you get toolkits for crafting.

There is. Accepting tasks from that faction in disguise and completing them to raise goodwill up to 2000 or more. But be aware other factions won't take it well and you'll loose goodwill with them.
For example I as a loner be doing tasks for mercenaries I will loose goodwill with loners, duty and vice versa
Ah, so, faction v faction relations affect things, but once you get a (hostile) faction's goodwill up to 2000, they won't care about your faction's standing with them?
From what I've experienced having 2000+ goodwill with a hostile faction it stops attacking you. Like when I was a loner and had 2000+ goodwill with freedom and became a member of duty. Freedom was not hostile with me
If the goodwill falls they'll start attacking you. Below 2000 from what I know

Hi, I am playing on 3840x2160, I get ~40fps in Cordon with Reshade enabled and ~60fps with reshade disabled. I know that I can use integer scaling to essentially play at a crispier 1080p image but is there some way I can use DSR to get the game to upscale from with minimal performance impact? I'd want the performance of 1080p but the clarity closer to 4k, is it doable?
Since you're on 4K you might want to try and disable MSAA and maybe SMAA but I don't know if that'll affect visuals a lot. It does affect it a lot on 1080p. MSAA is like the biggest hit in FPS regarding visuals and it doesn't work correctly from what I know. Other way would be downscaling and sharpening but that's not too good visually.
I'll probably stick to integer upscaled 1080p because I get 144 fps that way

Yeah... I manage to eliminate them with DLDSR upscaling to 2K and downscaling to 1080p but then I don't get solid 60fps on my loser 60Hz monitor

You'll get used to the trees. I don't even notice them anymore. Of course if anti-aliasing worked fine that would be great but unfortunately, old engine.
So I bit the bullet and just did a complete fresh install, now I keep getting random missing sounds and missing textures in my logs that cause crashes sometimes.

which launcher tho i said i cant find it in MO2 and I literally ticked it on in the launcher in the proper anomaly folder. MO2 is the launcher for GAMMA and I cannot find it there, nor can I find a "gamma launcher" specific to just gamma. all of the MO2 options I see are more for general modding than anything STALKER specific

Brothers, is there any way to be done with micro stuttering completely? I've fucked with switch_distance high and low values, same with the objects_per_update in alife, but to no avail. I've also disabled shaders, deleted the shader cache, unchecked core 0, tried DX 8. None of this seems to get rid of the 1 or 2 frame skip that happens consistently every 3 seconds. It feels adjacent to rubberbanding in an online game. Also, I get around 80-100 fps after fucking with graphical settings.

SSD would only help with stutters not make it worse. Maybe install process lasso. It'll automatically configure all your processes to run lesser when you play gamma. It's free or you can torrent the pro version if you're able

I just fought a weirdly huge wave of respawning bandits at the Farm in cordon, it was a group of 10 or so at first, but then for several minutes whenever I killed the last one, another would spawn. sometimes spawning right in front of me. it finally just ended. is this what a hit squad is?
I think I need to turn in the barrier quest then pretty sure it completed

use debug mode to find out his spawn id and logic, you should then be able to respawn him using the object spawner in debug mode
you can use the pinned message from me as a jumping off point, but try starting from step 4. if he's not blacklisted you shouldn't have to do any file unpacking.
obviously the specific stuff you type in for id/logic/etc is different because it's a different NPC; you need to get that into from the jantar mech by selecting him with f7 in debug mode and clicking "get info." which means you will need to actually look at him. so maybe to get the id/etc you can start a new game and just warp straight there to get the details. then just load your existing game to actually do the spawning
@woeful ledge it was the barrier quest it needed to be handed in emmisions work from debug now but the emmision that was meant to trigger hasn't so I have no idea if they are working now

You can also change the progression diff on a new game and later through out you're play through but by default it gives you the most points and options with the tourist option tho you could change it to survivalist if you wanna suffer

That place is a psy field, basically drains your psy real fast, you might want to get some psyblock for protection then enter, figuring out HOW to navigate the room... I'll leave it to you
You have 3 condition bars, HEALTH, STAMINA and PSYCHE, if psyche goes down to zero, your character will shoot himself, draining psyche can be caused by psy emission / psy ghosts or psychic mutants like psy sucker or controller, here is my recent demonstration 😄

so you either need better psy protection, psy helmet or boost your psyche via drugs temporarily

I am trying to complete the Explorers quest related to x-19, I have to search for some documents near the entrance but I can't find them. I searched outside, in the tunnel, and all inside x-19. Does anyone knows where these documents are found?

damn, I installed the game on 26th, 27th is apparently an update that I should get via full install but I only did an update, might this be the reason for my recent crashes?
It shouldn't take too long to do the full install since you have majority of the addons stored on your PC. I update very frequently once there's a new update out. So, I might give it a try to solve issues.
Is there any mod to randomize the trader's inventory a bit more? I get that consistency is good but its kinda uninteresting that everytime I go to a cook he will always have 3x Nemiroff, 3x Putinka, no more, no less

Stalker only uses one core so your cpu utilization is never going to hit 100%
but mine never surpass 70% GPU ult
if it is, then your cpu is bottlenecking your gpu (which is usual for stalker in modern pcs afaik)

yeah cuz stalker is an old ass cpu bound game with no multithreading unfortunately
check to see if one of your cores is maxing out, and if so turn down stuff that uses cpu (shadows, draw distance, grass, stuff like that)

psy resistance should definitely reduce the psy damage a lot, make sure to have a little bit of it at the very least

They were a couple from the mods because i was thinking i could delete them with File Shredder feature from a progarm. By now they were 2 addons on 3 mods folder.

If Torso goes to 0, it's insta death.

I guess with that established, Gamma essentially doubles the amount of healing items you need to use (healing and post-healing) in order to remain combat effective? It sounds expensive, but I guess it's better than how starvation works in EFP.

Hey so we were just trying it out and the gamedata/configs/items folder only has a settings file and that is empty. could there be a problem with the install or our we looking in the wrong spot? Ps we used the other way listed in FAQ and seems to be no issue, still curios about missing file.
Some files are purposefully left empty, as a way to nullify their effects without actually deleting them

In any case I don't think you want to keep GAMMA economy since you want vanilla stuff back anyway
To be fair, GAMMA Economy provides ammo and tools (cooking, etc) in some nice places that aren't there in Vanilla
It also places all the accessories (scopes, etc) in trader inventories
Kinda hard to find them with Vanilla or Trader Overhaul
This is definitely the most complicated mod I've ever tired out but it's worth also what dose gamma economy change really because I found the trader over haul separate

I did, I played with only TO for a while. Only GAMMA Economy has the NATO and WP trader supply profiles
So disabling GAMMA Economy can make finding most scopes/silencers a hassle
I don’t remember what playing with both changed, but I eventually disabled TO
Got my first red X after doing a full update 101 - BAS scopes extravaganza 2D shader-based copes patch. Should I just try again? or is it something with this specific mod?

Hey so i got mags redux enabled without unjam reload fix enabled, i press R and it literally just refuses to reload from my loadout, i made a new fresh game save and debug spawned myself a shotgun and a glock and this is my first time playing with mags redux, i loaded the magazines and marked them for loadout and hit R, nothing happened, i then hit Z the unjam hotkey, nothing happend, i have super jams disabled btw, i then tried loading the gun manually by dragging the magazine over the glock, that worked, i then tried the ks23 i gave myself by hitting R, no reload happened and it stayed empty, i checked and there should be no keybind conflicts, what do i do to be able to reload regularly? Is there some different hotkey im unaware of to reload from loadout'?
make sure to check your keybinds mag redux defaults your reload key to f10 at least for me it does that.

Welcome to X-Ray flavortown. You have to find the file in which that keybind is determined, and then leave it empty. There is no "clear keybind" button/option, unfortunately

Is there a way to make your characters footsteps not so far panned left and right? i feel especially its heavy on the right ear, always makes me feel like someone is around me
when it comes to the weapon repair kits how does one get them to appear in traders. is it tied to the tool quest or the faction rep? i assume xenotech at cordon can sell historic weapon repair kit etc?
you need toolkits to craft repair kits or give the toolkits to technicians and they will sell those repair kits
the manual doesnt state what the method to increase the technician stock only traders unless i missed it. i know how to repair etc i was just curious as my loner clear sky rep is enough for level 2 but xenotech is still 1 so i assume it will be giving toolsets for technician supply level.
Yes, you level technicians by giving toolkits to them
Always keep for yourself the first toolkit you can find and give away the second of everything when you find it
Basic/advanced/expert for technicians and drug kit for doctors
If nothing changed, gunsmith toolkits are just sellable because nobody wants them, just keep one for yourself
