I'd be ok with missing every time on 100% smothered if how smothered was decided in game was more concise. If the defender is right on top of you, then ok, but if there is any separation at all, or if the defender is just wildly jumping in your direction, then that ain't smothered.

NBA Live was a more authentic B-ball game, but 2K dominated with the MyPlayer experience and the bells and whistles and Live couldn't compete

I really like the dunk meter. I just wish it was more consistent and could be triggered more frequently

And the bigs need a standing dunk meter they can trigger for at the rim finishes

It probably depends on the animation. Semantically the driving dunk is just an animation triggered after a drive. That could include some two or one foot launches that look like a step or hop before going up more straight for dunk.

I mostly do 2 alleys passes and then 2 alley dunks. As a big man i do like 5 blocks per game and 30 to 50 point games

Well that sucks. On next gen you can use the phone to check previous game and see everyone's builds. Has it's draw backs. It's live so if somebody switches builds it just shows the current one. There's not an actual online game history to check. I used to regualy check attributes and badges because build names kind of tell you the top stats on a build.

I agree. I hate how 2K rewards bad players this year. I don’t know how many times I’ve played great defense just for the ball to go back to them multiple times. Another thing I’ve notice is players recklessly doing a behind the back (and/or) dribble into the defenders body with no repercussions. How is 2K going to preach “skill gap” but reward horrible basketball decisions? Makes no sense to me.

Contact dunks are available for centers too. As well, you can time layups and post shots. Contact dunks are a lot more than just pulling back on the stick. You have to time it too.

A huge thing people don't realize with contact dunks is you can't just spam them if the center has anchor and sits paint. It will be a late or a block everytime

Okay. I have a build with 88 badges. I went to every single team practice. I played 44 games of offline MyCareer so far and reached 99 and got all my badges finished it in about 30 games

12 minute quarters, all star difficulty

Which is like 24 hours of gameplay which will take you probably a week or two

If you are looking for a method that doesn't include a lot of grinding then Idk what to tell you

There's a rebounding takeover called See the Future that shows where missed shots are going. Not sure if that's what you meant

I've experienced that too. No fix but have an assumption for why. My guess has been that it's a holdover from previous games. Your player used to say things at some points in the game so the audio switched to there perspective. Like during opponents free throws they say 'miss it.' The audio of the player isn't there so it just sounds audio cuts out

Why do the announcers stop saying expansion team names like Vancouver Ravens, but keep saying Cincinnati Lions, Kansas City Knights? Also, I've created 4 teams. 2 in year one, and 2 in year two. Your AI teammates never chase after loose balls. This has been an issue since 2K Basketball's maiden voyage. Is there just no interest in fixing this? I also have to wonder what purpose the Hustle slider serves if it doesn't seem to have any impact on how responsive a player is in real time.

One thing they need to fix in MyNBA Eras (in the 80's era in particular), is to have the wings on fast breaks go STRAIGHT to the basket! There is ZERO reason for a player to ever break to the corner if (1) he never shoots threes, or (2) his three pointing rating is TERRIBLE. The number of lost easy baskets due to AI teammates fouling up my fast break opportunities, has cost me some games. There should be some sort of tendency or team strategy adjustment that stipulates: If there is NO defender ahead of the lead non-ball handler on a fast break, do NOT send that player to the corner!

So I have come to the conclusion that no mod or no dev is ever going to have the intestinal fortitude to come on this Discord and address all of the concerns that us players (the consumers) have brought up in this discussion thread. It's clear that people who love basketball did not make this game and all that matters to them is silly anime hairstyles, cosmetics, and anything else they can microtransaction us to death with. Have they addressed the overpowered interior defense? Nope. Have they addressed the steal spamming issue and how there are waaay too many steals occurring in PvP? Nope. Have they made shooting more user friendly? Nope again! You know why? Because they do not care about any of us. They only care about the money we give them. So I say stop giving them money at all and maybe then they'll make a REAL basketball game.

Skill dunks aren't the biggest issue. Missing wide open dunks, layups, and what should be easy putbacks at the rim just because some player with an Anchor badge is standing near you is the problem. And you are exactly right about the steals. Can't even throw a pass to anyone without it being tipped or intercepted like Deion Sanders. Like I said, the devs care nothing about making a good REAL basketball game. Just 3 point shooting trash and cosmetic microtransactions. Don't even get me started on their gambling mode (MyTeam).

And no one from 2K even has the respect for any of us to come on this Discord and discuss these issues. Cowards is what they are.

2k needs to am update for old gen. The first ps4 model can't run the game properly. It's causing a lag/freeze when playing park or pro-am and even Rec plus mycourt with friends. It's unbearable and I can't play park normally. It'll lag on my screen but the play still happens and I can't dictate what happens in that moment at all. It's not connection issues because I'm wired and I'd receive a countdown if I was lagging. It's not the latest update thingy either because I receive those notifications before I even pick a game mode at the main menu. Can't clear cache and etc because it's a ps4. Hopefully a 2k dev can sort this problem out for me

Old gen is being phased out, if your system cannot run it then it is time to get a new system, how it's always been unfortunately

they have 0 reason to help current Gen players as you’re being phased out slowly by next gen and next gen VC purchases, your PS4 from 2015 isn’t going to run the game at a stable 60 FPS.

Even on PC you have to lock the game to 60 fps because it’s a slapped together combination of 2k15-2k20 with bugs that are almost a decade old

Why would they optimize a game that’s just a corpse meant for farming VC off players whose parents can’t afford the Ps5? Planned obsolescence is a wonderful business model.

Yeah just throw your points into whatever you want to do on the court. Definitely bump your three ball up. Check your badges and see what the requirements are for badges you’d want to use

Acceleration is more important than speed imo. Max stamina because it’s cheap. Up your perimeter defense if you want to be able to shuffle around better as it’s tied to lateral quickness

Community has expressed displeasure with the multitude of glitches especially on last gen consoles (Xbox One and PS4) and still no response

The 2K staff that is on this page never engages with the community on any of these or other issues unless it's a simple fix

Because they don't care, but they'll ban me and others when we express our displeasure about it.

Gaming companies have forgot that the customer should be taken care of because all of them don't care about customer service, and only care about taking your money for a subpar product.

Interior defense is literally shii especially if someone is dunking but if it’s two centers and you’re taller than the other center they make you miss even though you have position

Only thing I hate other then that is the fact someone could spam square while you’re doing a post move and somehow it’s a turnover on you only way to help is to use everything on unpluckable

The way I understand it, is the 2K Staff mods are responsible for reviewing the community's inputs and addressing them to make the game better. If there not doing that, then why even have a Discord for gameplay issues and suggestions?

Here's the other issue I have with this Discord. I have submitted multiple suggestions to improve gameplay through the game feedback inputs and they haven't once posted any of them or responded to any of them. I know they're good suggestions, because I see so many others post on here the same issues. So why even have this Discord channel? It serves absolutely no purpose.

Im here because my friends and i have tried 100 times everyone gets frozen on rec loading screen- its been impossible to play - and i mean impossible - for 2 days now for all 5 of us- I put out a ticket - they said they forwarded it to the team and gave me a runaround generalized answer- so then i replied- "so are you saying that 2k is aware there is an issue? can you tell me whats going on?" to which they replied " Oh we dont actually get to see or hear about anything - theres no way to follow up - etc. BLAH BLAH BLAH" Look- the game is broken- Im USED to millions of things not working- and having to dashboard 20 times a day for menial things like "playing a mycareeer game" or "joining a friends game" or "joining a friends game and getting sent to a bridge game" or " getting in your menu for more than 10 seconds" and i could GO ON AND ON- about the daily EVERY time occurances that go entirely IGNORED allllllll season long - See we are used to that. We shouldnt be w how big this game is and how many HUNDREDS of dollars ive spent on it this year- But we are....

Only Badges that seem to work are all the steal badges and defensive anchor. The rest, nah.

What's even funnier about that is Mike Wang was like "this year strength will matter in your playstyle with the implementation of the Bully Badge" What a load of crap! I have Gold or HOF Bully on two of my centers and I got 6-8 and below players weighing in at a whopping 195 lbs stopping me from getting to the rim or worse blocking my shot. It's absolutely ridiculous.

After this season, I'm switching to Live '19. More realistic B-ball game so far for me.

At this point 2K, just take steals out of the game altogether. It's absolutely ridiculous the number of steals that happen in a PVP game. In comparison, I played Live '19 last night and there was a total of 3 steals the entire game and then here on 2K, there was about 10 steals before the half was even over. Everyone in the community has been telling you that Defense is overpowered and yet you continue to do nothing about it. That is terrible customer service! You need to have this fixed before the beginning of next season for both current and last gen!

I agree that there is nothing wrong with being able to steal the ball, but their has to be a balance. What we have right now especially on last gen (Xbox One) ain't it! Everyone is just constantly spamming the steal button without any repercussions. What needs to happen is that if you attempt a steal and miss, then your way out of defensive positioning and it will be very difficult for you to recover in time to play defense (just like real life). But no, we get this crap in 2K23. And don't get me started on how terrible trying to score on the interior is

I haven't noticed anyone having a hard time to recover while they're spamming the steal button. Trust me, I have played a ton of Rec and it's all you see is hands going everywhere and then instantly back on defense. It's ridiculous.

You have to have glove and a high steal for it not to effect you and most of the time rec teammates are slow to take advantage of the defence being out of position

I played a game a few weeks back and there was 35+ total steals in the game. I can't think of many NBA or College basketball games where that happened.

The steals and the associated badges need a major nerf

Anchor is the only difference between not being able to block, and being able to block well.

Tell them to add more depth. Straight up nerf would be wrong.

It’s not on 2k to nerf us bigs, it’s on teams to lure us out of the paint. We’re incredibly slow.

Nah, Interior defense is a bit overpowered. They need to take all badges out of the game and leave it to positioning and rating to decide how well defense is played.
