Is the specialist event still going on this weekend? Or did they cancel it?
You might have to check the 2k event schedule to be sure
I did and nothing is there
Try Google. That's where I look when the schedule is tripping
Ok
MyTeam
Ai cuz Iām lvl 39 on myteam and I just renewed my plus subscription in months
Iām tryna see how long it takes to hit 40 on park
do you pay for packs?
Like spend acc irl money on vc?
Never
I just havenāt been on my ps4 in time that my 1 yr ps plus subscription ran out 3 weeks without me realizing
yeah to get packs
Nah
I just been doing season challenges
Like KD tmac ones
ah, it's easier to get to level 40 if you're willing to spend money
Ad kawhi
I canāt spend money on this game
Alrdy spent bout 60
Do u spend money on vc?
used to in 2k21
Damn how much total did u spend on 21
Wtffffšš
Ur wild bro I only made 1 transaction in my 2k history
Back in 2k20 that VC jersey with like 10K vc and some boost
For 10 dollars
And i regretted that purchase so much
And then thereās ppl like troy spending 5K+ every year smh
I have regrets spending that much š¦
Nah bro I got regrets from buying v bucks back in the day
Thatās the biggest regret I rlly have
Iāve dropped way too much money on the game, haha. But if the game is helping you generate some kind of income thereās really no reason not to!
fortnite
the way I could easily afford CA if I didn' twaste money
pretty dope
How do you get to Pro status?
by talking a lot, constructively
<@&889548810718683136> are we allowed to forward someone's feedback?
I forwarded the question š
Evan answered, so essentially if you agree with the feedback, sure! Just don't let people beg for you to do it because you're a high enough level lol (they'd be breaking the Discord rules).
oh thanks. Is it against the rules to sell this service? :x
We need advanced stats in 2k someone write that down and forward it š
Why am I being laughed and shaded at? š
bro how do i request a trade after the kendrick thing? because i hate carrying the magic
Hello People. I have a question. Can i choose the card if i get to the free third theme pack? Thanks
for real!! hell, sometimes ANY stats would be nice. last night a friend and I were playing player-control mode & talking about how they donāt keep any stats for that mode. they should at least track your career totals and per game
how do i request a trade after the whole kendrick thing?
the trade rumors quest?
because i donāt have that one anymore
So iām gonna guess i have to play the whole season with them now. Itās the magic.
Itās fine for now
why does a double team go into auto jump ball?

A First Look at #NBA2K23 š„
More gameplay details to come next week.
Pre-order now ā”ļø https://nba.2k.com/2k23/buy/
Can't wait!
Trailer looks good. New animations and celebrations. The dancers are also brand new, which is cool. That Morant dunk and griddy š¤
I'll wait until the people rate the game
I shain't get it because people said 22 was good. It wa snot
Can't trust content creators or die hards they will say that every year but I do believe they make small strides.
Emphasis on small because Idk how this passing lane defense has been sustainable for like 4 years now.
Really praying for that new NBA rule change to make it into the game. Think that fixes alot of the spamming off of rebounds and transition in general.
š
Huh?
That's the only way people play defense is by gambling but in the game because of the lunges and animations its extremely successful. In a 5 minute per quarter game you will assuredly see almost double the steals of a regulation 12 minute per quarter NBA game. Even when you do get a bad animation and get blown past the chasedowns are insane. It's like they hyperfocused on the wrong type of defense lol.
You vs ai or humans?
Human players.
The passing lane steals is why I like the idea of making the court bigger. I imagine making it wider will help with steals but it might have to be longer to help with chasedowns. Length more time for speed to create separation. Width to give space and reduce closeout. Problem is I imagine it'd increase the empashisis on 5 out offense. Theoretically it should give mid and post more space and punish help and zone with passing and dribble pull-ups.
I like that they increased the defense in 22. I think it's a bit too aggressive out of the box. It still seems to do this thing where AI defense tightens later in the game. It makes sense they would have a possibility of slowly down a specific offense but it seems like at times they just get better at preventing openings on multiple play types. I could just be imagining it though. I think another year of adjusting what data/systems the AI is utilizing should lead to solid improvements.
Don't know if this goes in gameplay or myLeauge specifically. I like to simulate games in my League and just do some GM stuff. Draft, trade, sign, etc. Some things I was wondering about. Are players system fit included in their trade value? Are intangibles and BBIQ tied to increases to system proficiency gains in progression? We have a slider for player durability effecting value for the AI. Could trading injured players be a setting/league rule? Is there anywhere that shows what attributes are focused when setting individual training?
My problem with AIs is that they don't play independently. Every AI does similar things and actions. For example why can every AI in the game do that off the vert jump animation to interrupt an alley oop attempt? It's insane I've seen cp3 do it and he's 6ft tall lol
I agree with making the court bigger. They should try and prioritize slowing the game down just a little bit. I'm not saying it has to be normal NBA speed but it's felt a bit to fast all year.
They could possibly do more defensive interactions/animations and tie that to attributes. The problem I see with is the situation you mention @graceful tinsel could still happen. Since superstar players could have elevated attributes. Unless it's true that intangibles and IQ are heavily weighted to increase overall.
Checked 2kratings and it has Chris Paul with a Interior D of 65 and a Block of 40. Assuming block works like steal and the youtubers testing animations tied to attributes he could be hitting a base threshold to do that
Has a Vert of 78 too. So if his dunk was higher he'd be able to jump high enough to dunk consistently.
Why the hell does cp3 have a 78 vert???? He's definitely hitting the threshold lol
That is nonsense I don't even know anymore but the intangibles stat does raise overall rating but it doesn't increase any attributes its only to raise overall. You can test in the edit features of my NBA.
I've messed with it recently in MyLeague. It's less direct of change than I expected. Not sure who I was looking at. Might've been a generated rookie but I remember adding 10 didn't just add overall so I assumed there's something else that combines with it. Maybe IQ and Potential? I'm mostly guessing though.
I didn't check tendencies either though. I wonder if vertical contest could be a tendency now or in the future. Since they added the 3 types of block/contest in the controls.
Never heard of the JabbaWockeez?
Which content creators? Thereās way more than you think. What strides are you talking about?
I feel the gambling part when āplaying defenseā with the ai and on-balling. Why? Most players do it when theyāre trying to make a ārotationā they either make the right one or get torched by the offensive player
In the 2KLeague I believe the court is a bit wider. It gives the players to work and have a little bit more space what they can do
The ai isnāt smart enough to stay attached to a player. For example if someone spams a dribble move the cpu either gets stunned or dropped.
Another problem Iāve seen is that opponent CPU gets a ton of boards which lead to someone open on 3 line on a island by themselves at times
Any that are apart of 2ks little nextmakers program. You can't speak your thoughts unless it's 100% supportive. (I.E. see the one guy that did and looked where that got him)
We need alot. Paint defense needs a work. Blocks are OP but actual hands up contest is god awful. The same for perimeter D. Steals are OP but actual hands up contest is hit or miss. Passes need reworks. The way you throw a pass is absolutely insane sometimes. A 7 fter in front of me but I'm throwing the ball low when I didn't tap the bounce pass button.
The list goes on. Stamina needs to be touched on
Only some next makers; not all.
Game needs a ton of work. Why we are here in a discord talking about what needs to be touched and why a āteamā made this discord channel
Name me a next maker that openly criticizes the game š
I dont even mean slander. Obviously no one is going to want you to represent them if all you say are negative things about their product but I just mean ways to improve upon the game and saying that it has faults.
Paint defense= Gets mashed (A free 2 point bucket everytime; dunks, layups, etc)
Contest system: The defender
sometimes or doesnāt get a contest.
You would be wide open and it would say
āSlightly late/earlyā but somehow get a 35%-50% contest
Last thing is on stamina:
Players donāt recover or are stuck in mud.
Meaning, no one gets back on D or has any āhustleā or grit to get back
NBA 2K has its pros and āmanyā cons but as I said āitās a work in processā that the development team works hard day and night (I think)
We as the āNBA 2K playersā need to actually tell someone if something is broken or needs improvement.
NBA 2K22 proved a bit that the game needs many improvements and suggestions to help make a satisfying and fun game.
If NBA 2K ever needed beta testers Iām down š
For sure. The game isn't unplayable. They introduced some mechanics this year that I enjoyed personally. In fact it is sometimes overstated that there are problems. Alot of issues with the game are actually the communities fault.
@graceful tinsel which mode do you play? MyTeam/MyCareer/Play Now?
Try looking in #š¤lfg-instructions
You wanna play
I am mostly MyCareer but I dabble in MyNBA and the W. How about you?
MyTeam, Play Now and sometimes MyNBA
Naw im off for the night but I'm saying this channel isn't for searching for a squad. There are other channels for that and you'll find people faster.
I play more the mode requires 5vs5 that is single player
The game is probably more enjoyable that way honestly lol
I wanna start using 2KU to start labbing though. To run plays, get a scrimmage with a team, to have skills into using certain moves in game and to actually practice.
Itās frustrating at times because āmy players run awayā or do something thatās out of the ordinary like āfallā or āreachā for no reason
Kinda unplayable at times from here to there, from point a to point b; Some āmechanicsā or ācommon senseā donāt even make full sense.
Players would
āWhat was thatā āwhy did that happenā
āIs my game brokenā etc.
Key factor: Make it make sense
My assumption was that when doing size ups the AI gives space to defend the drive. If they pressed they could trigger bumps or animation cancels. They should press and prevent the dribble for shooters and allow space for poor ball handlers in space for guards with steal to reach. That could be realistic or maybe a bit over done.
The rebounding I always figured the AI has a better idea of where the ball is going. Sideline cams probably help with seeing high arcing misses and how far they may go. I don't usually play them though. An AI big is usually preferable in rec than a guard in my experience. Unless they have to guard a stretch.
I've wondered if the 3 block/contests led the changes experienced in paint defense. That and I remember them saying changes made taller bigs harder to stop inside. Seems like now if you get in the charge zone contesting at the rim is very difficult. In previous 2ks I liked the idea of using clamps to 'do the work early.' Jump on the drive and force a hip ride before they enter the paint. Limitless takeoff seems to counter that though.
On the perimeter I prefer using hands up. I may be an exception though. I use off ball pest, intimadator, menace, and pick dodger to try to constantly ride my matchups hip. Try to force them the opposite of wherever they've been dribbling/shooting and cancel or make certain moves risky. Usually I get some contest with hands up. Even late it'll reduce shots to open.
I feel like 5v5 gameplay is much more solid. The way the AI can run some plays and motion is impressive when it's working.
It is weird how the AI seems to reach at some of the worst times. It is good at reaching to help on wide drives though.
A thing I see sometimes is a ai Big man will not set me a screen sometimes and will run away.
The off-ball of the ai offensive team sometimes they just stand there and look at the ball handler, then get in the way at times
Never understood why they just swinging on a opposing player. This usually happens at the end of shot clocks for game.
Rebounding you never wanna go against a Tacko fall, Shaq,or like a Yao. They either get a board or just stare at the ball until someone else grabs and posses it.
Also getting boarded up by a smaller PG when a center or big man has a good position for a board happens a lot in MyTeam and play now.
I can chime in here. We have creators criticize the game all the time. However, a lot of the feedback they're providing us just may take place behind closed doors and not on Twitter.
Even if they did criticize on Twitter, we don't prevent them from doing so. We simply ask that if they have a critique, they bring it to us so that we can get it to the right place.
I 100% want to believe what you're saying and you personally have given me no reason to distrust you but if this is indeed true then why is the man who has 1.8M followers on YouTube and a substantial following in the community blacklisted? I know you won't be able to answer that as there are probably a host of things there that can't be spoken of pertaining to the situation but that whole agent 00 thing is mad weird and gives credence to my assumptions.
You were speaking specifically about NextMakers creators in your comments above.
As for Agent, I've personally only spoken to him once before. Even if we aren't speaking directly to creators, it doesn't mean we don't see their feedback or think that their feedback isn't useful.
I'd also add that subscriber numbers aren't what we base decisions on.
Touche', but I did allude to him at the bottom of that comment because of his dedication to the game. He based his entire platform off of 2k to start though and he had alot of valid criticism and is on record stating that he would have no problem joining that program if he believed he wouldn't be censored. I understand it's not only based on subscriber count but I would say idk what another person brings to the table that he wouldn't and that's why I assumed that most other creators are just falling in line.
Sure! I would suggest using #š¬game-suggestions and checking out the pinned tweet w/ instructions. I'm not necessarily the correct person to supply that information to. Using the proper channels helps get it to where it needs to go!
no way people can watch park gameplay and say itās a good product. itās ridiculous
Guys who else thinks people play park is fun? I do!
This is a perfect example of where I was trying to go with critique. This isn't helpful. It's just complaining with no substance. Not trying to call you out just happened to be speaking on this the other day.
A more helpful critique would be park gameplay is repetitive and it's mostly because of the unlimited stamina you gain with the handles for days badge.
oh like two weeks ago i went in on stuff with super detail, now i just throw in random things like that to try and remind them. they just blow it off and let the mods try to make up some excuse
Not blowing it off but they don't have the time to acknowledge everything. Also this is just a chat for us to discuss think you would have to post this in #š¬game-suggestions
I'm not saying you're wrong just that it can come across the wrong way and then they would ignore it.
I do see you have some suggestions in there so I think they see them
I'm not sure if you're referring to me with that comment, but I am in no way an expert on the game to be able to make up excuses. I'm here as a volunteer to help police the server. I can play Devil's Advocate to try and get to the root of a complaint or help evolve an idea, but please don't look at me as if I'm meant to be an encyclopedia on the game.
Or, if you're going the "mods are shills" route, that mindset isn't going to be conducive to constructive discussion.
i get that @fluid girder. to me itās just ignorant that thereās no real way to help make things change. just feels like the community has no input. between people on here and people on reddit and people on youtube and twitter and so on and so on you would think they would do something. but they just keep saying take the survey. then we take the survey and have no idea what data is in that. and they say they have all this data but yet year after year is the same thing. in terms of the āmods are shillsā, thereās only one at thatās Doom. heās ridiculous, and if yāall get paid for it thatās even worse

This goes back to what was said by 2KCorey a while ago about feedback...
We listen to any and all feedback, but just giving us feedback does not mean it'll actually be implemented. Feedback has to be scaled, meaning we need to attach it to all other feedback and make the best decisions for what makes sense for the most amount of players. We use data listening tools, and data surveys to help put this into numbers along with the feedback we get from our community.
For all we know, the opinions are cancelling each other out, or they haven't found the right balance/tools to make something happen yet without breaking something else. Feedback taken now might not make it into the games for years.
I get the feeling that you're hoping for developer feedback on the ideas though? That's a common thing I see...
Oh, and all the mods are volunteers, no pay.
Hey how you doing buddie
yes most people in here want to hear what the Devs have to say about feedback and issues in the game. 2k support keeps sending people here for that reason, and all we get is you guys chiming in playing devils advocate(you) or just being rude and blowing people off (doom and kat)
Sorry, when was I rude or ignoring people? I didnāt have an answer to your questions/concerns and let the appropriate people answer. I have replied to your feedback in the appropriate section. We made changes so people could post in appropriate sections. 2K staff has chimed in. The Discord is a work in progress. Donāt take out your frustration with the game itself on people that are here to help the ā Discord serverā with āDiscord serverā issues.
Ball
lol the first time i started talking in this discord asking questions you blew it off by just saying that they did surveys and the surveys take time to implement into the game and just wait. passive aggressiveness = rude for most people. and when you say donāt take frustration with game on the people in here, thatās ridiculous because this is the only place to voice frustrations and feedback. and then you guys chime in and ātake care of itā so the devs donāt have to answer
So telling people to fill out surveys (that are new) and then encouraging them to be patient about the process; to implement said data revealed from the surveys is rude. Noted š
i asked about providing feedback and you said shouldāve taken the survey. that is literally this emojiš¤·āāļø
itās not helpful for anyone else that went back and read it and itās frustrating when we are told to come here to provide feedback and thatās how the mods act. the mods and the devs both say that a little feedback isnāt enough and all that junk, but when itās stated that other sources of feedback are saying the same thing it just gets pushed to the side. thereās feedback all over every social media platform, and then we are told by 2k support we have to come here, and then weāre told thereās not enough feedback.
Iām going to drop in and reiterate that feedback on products is noted from this channel and is put in with the rest of feedback we get from the broader community. To be clear on this channel - it is a place for players to voice their concerns and frustrations, but in a productive and constructive way. Not aggressively or entitled. Your opinions are heard and accounted for, we have surveys to quantify that feedback, but youāre not going to have devs in here talking about future games or things/changes we canāt talk about yet or what changes will be implemented.
Sometimes that info isnāt decided until late in the process, and being a publicly traded company, we canāt share things that impact revenue unless thereās a date and commitment to implementing said thing. Thatās the nature of how a lot of companies work. Itās also devsā jobs to make the game, not be in here every day communicating. Our role is to take the info we see, quantify it and deliver it to them so it can help inform their decisions. We canāt make decisions for devs. Some are active when/where they want to be, sure, but thatās on them and not something we can push for.
Mods are here as volunteers to help us with this specific channel, not to develop the game. Nor are they employees of 2K. Attacking them will only get you banned, it is, and will always remain that simple. Ultimately, theyāre trying to help, and yes while we take feedback qualitatively, we need scale to create problems that dev can see with actual numbers, so @grizzled plover is right - the best way for us to do that is through surveys, not via 1-2 loud people screaming about something thatās totally different from what 1-2 other people are screaming about that is the opposite of what the other 2 people want with no way to scale those vs a bigger size of the population.
Iām not entirely sure what youāre looking for here, but it wonāt be a place where you know things ahead of everyone else. Itās a place for you to talk to us constructively, and help bring our news to one platform vs it being in many places. Itās additive.
so would you like examples of hundreds of thousands of people agreeing?
I'm just going to keep that tabbed... (No-one will get the reference)
You think we donāt notice when hundreds of thousands of people agree? The survey is a good example of that, FYI.
Yes i actually think you guys donāt notice because the game is so similar every year. even just going from 2k21 next gen to 2k22 next gen, the game is ridiculously similar/has minimal changes
Ok, this is where Iām gonna halt Comms @small raven. I heard you out. At this point Iām not going to discuss game development unless you have years of working within that environment, and your point about what is similar/isnāt is completely subjective and opinion. Nothing youāre saying here is outside of that.
But as always, weāll always hear and listen to the feedback and hope we can keep improving!
@shut phoenix anything about MyTeam by any chance? š
Or like play now online or even MyNBA
If not thatās okay! Iāll wait like everyone else
Can't sell here.
Lol you've kinda been spamming that same message in all the channels. They might ban you š
@hollow harbor over the past year Iāve reported well over 50 cheaters on PC and never saw any disciplinary action taken against them. What is 2K planning to do about cheaters in 23 on PC?

2k23 gameplay btw
The Adreniline Boost concept. Well, well done!
Fantastic idea that I hope doesn't get removed.
I also like the specific stats for jump shots. I do hope that something like Release Immunity won't be too OP though, as it was with Luka base this year.
Y cut is back!!! YES!
Spot up mechanic sounds awesome too!
I knew at least one person would be happy to read that š
Very lol
Makes me nervous as a big man looks like a lot of new stuff to learn š
Vice Grip is a fantastic badge idea
One question I have: with the return of shot arcs, is aiming back?
Overall, I am extremely pleased with the improvements being made! No real huge overhauls, just improvement on what already worked, and I think that's what was necessary
With this new Shading system on defense, is this the solution to the lack of lateral quickness and āblow bysā?
Badge tiers is such an interesting idea. Can't wait to see how it actually plays out.
I agree
How much of the gameplay changes in the blog are limited to PS5/XBX?
Yeah except everybody is gonna be running the same jumper. From what I read trae and bosh jumpshots will be one of the most used. I donāt see how shot height will make a huge difference unless shot blocking a jumper is that easy. Other than the implementation of stats on jumpshots, this was a W gameplay report.
I want to pick my own jumper with no consequences. I donāt like when Iām forced to pick a jumper because itās ābetterā
Well, to be fair, I'm not going to be in that boat on the MyTeam side.
You're going to naturally have to weigh strengths and weaknesses though. I don't think there's going to be a "better," just different
Even with Trae, lower release height is a massive drawback
Yeah but my point is what is so bad about release height? What if youāre a 6ā5 Point guard? Youāre going to be up against other point guards there is no way you are getting your shot blocked by a point guard that is the same height as you.
Maybe if youāre up against a SF-C but thatās a rare occasion
Presumably, more easy to contest
But thatās what Defensive Immunity does
Idk maybe I need to get a feel of what they mean with these jumpshot stats. Iām very curious how they work so I canāt complain yet
I just donāt like being limited to a small amount of jumpers because some are better than the other
Sure. We'll have to see what it impacts for sure. It seems like a pretty checked and balanced system to me, but we shall see
Just reading about this one now, really excited about that and the rest of the energy depletion from over dribbling ideas!
Will there be a focus on online myLeague? For example we havenāt been able to offer contract extensions mid season
Yeah adrenaline boost system was a smart idea. Should stop the dribble spammers, those were a pain to deal with online.
My interpretation was that this was more an exposure of what was already there. That's me taking into consideration content creators that do tests on make percentages for jumpshots though. If those tests were somewhat accurate this could be giving us the tools to make custom shots with less guess work.
The badge changes are interesting. Means the builder is going be somewhat different for MyCareer, and badges on NBA Rosters. Didn't say anything about new names for builds/player types so attribute caps may be similar.
whatās everyoneās take on the new dunk system?
So happy sniper gone
I am a bit nervous about it tbh. Seems complicated. Interested to see more.
me and you both, hoping maybe itāll be better, also hoping they fixed where youād go into an animation, have it timed and everything just to get thrown out of it
It looks like strength will play an important role in that. I do like that idea a lot. The finishing badges are looking promising.
It looks like they made it more skill based now that there are different varieties of dunks you can do with just using the pro stick in a specific direction. Iām a little concerned but I wish I can see and try it for myself.
I mastered pro stick in 2k22 but imo it wasnāt too hard to use once you got the hang of the dunk timing. Iād literally force a contact dunk all the time. Maybe theyāre trying to make it more difficult for players to force contact on dunks because once you knew the pro stick you would make every single contact dunk, if timed right.
Huge fan of the new Team Takeover redesign!
āBall strips are new and improved this year with tons of new content and better coverage. So if youāre a smaller defender, quick hands can be just as effective in slowing down slashers and bigs in the paint as a good shot blocker.ā
not gonna lie this kind of scares me, but thatās because we havenāt seen it yet or got to play with it
š« TTV_KVNG JR, you can't use that.
cause in 2k22 sometimes with my big iāll back down a guard and they can just steal it from me in the post pretty easily
I think that's why they added the vice grip badge.
^ feel similar about this
ah i see, just now getting to that part of the article
Vice grip is must have for bigs next yr for sure
Definitely, I like how there is a counter option
I don't like the idea of the badge being a must, but I do like the idea of it being a counter to the double team
The counter to clamps is interesting too. I wonder if it'll be easier to trigger clamps than before
I'm nervous too, considering that dunk timing was always wonky on XBox. I basically refused to use it because it was so odd to me
That badge is a must haves for slashers, is doesnāt help actual playmakers but blow byās for slashers is what the badge is probably gonna be used for
Ngl, I also refused to use it... and I am on PS5. I always had slasher builds in the past lol. But then I see people saying it was easy? So I dunno, maybe I just didn't give it a long enough chance.
Is work horse basically clamps and hustler combined?
The fact that you basically have to input a combo for a flashy dunk is just funny to me for some reason lol
That's what it looks like/ tireless defender
Maybe not so much clamps
Yes. That and the shading indicators should give people options one on one
Yeah tireless defender/hustler
I'm not sure if clamps is gone. I don't think they listed all the badges
I heard that it was easier on PS than on XBox honestly. Very strange lol
Really excited to see the shading indicators... I'm already wanting to make a lock lol
It's probably just me not giving it time to learn then š
The shading indicators seem like nba live type defense
Hopefully double teams and blitzing stays possible
i also hope they fix simulating. i had two mycareers where i played the pelicans in the conference finals and then in the finals with another. i understand that they have a nice team but acting like if they had Zion last year they wouldāve been that good is crazyš
So happy they buffed AIās. If you have played REC with an AI to fill for a teammate, they would literally shoot the dumbest shots ever, miss every shot, and switch 24/7
Well thatās all luck based, I get more pissed when I go against the lakers, Istg they the 2k gods when going against them
Yes. This would be an improvement imo. Circa Live 18, their defensive interactions are still the best I've felt in a basketball game before and since
the other thing i noticed in my career and mynba is that the warriors always trade Klay in the 21-22 season
Nah itās draymond always
I actually never realized that till you said that lol.
Iām just hoping they donāt make it primarily 1 on 1 defense like live, it would be terrible for Rec and pro am
Are online tiers still a thing in this game? Or can we once again pick whatever team we want in online head to head matches ?
Pels are goated in myleague too always making the finals
yeah idk why 2k simulation thinks Zion is that goated lol
i feel like the shaders are gonna be like the indicators they have on nba live
Yooo
I think itās cool that you can have the animations you buy on one player on the others but I guarantee you that some one finds a glitch where you can equip them
I don't think you're wrong. I don't hate the idea if that's the case š¤·āāļø I neeeed to see more lol.
Wonder how the ādouble throw gestureā and āswitch back gestureā will actually feel, because the fact they applied those to euros and cradle layups are dumb to me, no one is gonna flick their stick a direction let it go back to the center and flick back in the same direction for a euro, you may not even have time to for that animation while youāre driving to the paint
Can 2k tell us about current gen
I'm happy they got rid of the pie chart so the current gen people can stop wondering how good next gen builder is. I hope the only difference will be the city and the ship but I doubt that.
Iām sticking to New Gen.. Yāall can stay at Last Gen..
No more real player %. They finally took it out. No more being lazy when it comes to shooting š¤£š¤£
For online, thank gooooodness lol. Makes so much sense.
Ain't that the truth
I'm just waiting to see what other surprises 2k has in-store for us. So far I'm liking the gameplay news. I want to see the builds we can make
I really hope they work on match making in the recā¦i donāt understand how i play with 2-3 other ppl and they canāt match us with another person before we get an ai
That would be cool too
They should actually tell us how matchmaking works because some people think 92 and under is still a thing and then you still go against teams rated 96
@indigo elk @left tangle @hollow harbor @crisp delta @mortal scarab
What is real player %, im confused
There was an option you could turn on and it would go based off of your attributes Iām pretty sure, so if you had a high 3 pt shot and shot a 3 you didnāt have to time a release, you would just hold shoot and it would give a percentage of going in, if you had a 95+ 3 and used it there was basically no way to miss wide open shots, but itās easy to play against because you can get like 2% on a contest and they would miss
thatās basically cheating, why would they add that to the game in the first place š¤¦š¾āāļø
Iām not sure
@grizzled plover Does 2K staff respond to anything here?
I feel like the concept is for new people to the game, that donāt understand the timing. Or maybe people that donāt play a ton or just want to play very casually. There is a lot to learn if you are new and donāt play a lot. Itās good they took it out of online but I assume people still have the option of using it for offline modes, which is good also.
true true
They do but I donāt think they will really be able to answer your question. Thatās more of a 2k support type of thing. I know people have mentioned this before that play PC in earlier conversations so there is awareness.
On a day when a ton of news is being released they are probably super busy. Maybe wait a few days and try to bring up the topic again. We generally donāt encourage you @āing the staff though, it could eventually lead to a mute if itās excessive.
FAX
2K support told me to talk to this Discord
i wonder if with the new team takeover, a player could use their double takeover, then as soon as it ends the team takeover happens and they have it right back. hopefully there is some way to prevent someone from having takeover that long lol
Thatās fair, I would maybe just wait for a few days then. Again, today is pretty busy for staff and this discussion area is a bit more busy than usual.
Damn I wonder what's gonna happen with all y'all. Game sounding like it's gonna be realistic and no more cheesin for y'all
Donāt even know what you mean by that, thereās definitely gonna be cheese
Is there going to be a demo?
It makes sense for offline play were you're playing with a full roster of players and might not know all the timings for all the players jumpshots in various situations
I remember seeing some people who live in places where 2k may not have servers used it online to help with having consistent bad connections.
It's still available for offline, correct? It's nice for sim MyNBA purposes
hi 2K, long time fan here. Can you please bring back all-star team up?
I'm begging you, on my hands and knees
@summer pilot š
Onggg šš playin it with ur boys be hittin different
Excited for 2k23 yessir! Courtside report looks good!
Just read over the blog and it seems great. I'm curious for how stuff will be implemented, but the tiered badge system on next gen sounds interesting and could be cool. The new attributes and badges sound great. I like how the team takeover redesign sounds as well. 2K23 gonna be lit.
Saw a pic of Beluba tweeting that it was no longer an online option.
Correct, the plan is Real Player % will no longer be an option in online games. We saw the community feedback on that in our 2K22 survey.
It will be offline though correct? I assume so, just want to double check
I'm guessing they meant to talk about the issue on Discord with others, not to specifically find 2K staff on the Discord...
2K staff usually can't discuss anything that hasn't already been announced publicly.
So far so good after reading the court side report. I just hope 2K patches the shooting mechanisms of the AI while in MyCareer games.
So they can't tell me whether they actually are going to attempt to stop cheaters?
I'm so happy we don't have pie charts in current gen.
Like I was contemplating buying a new console before the next game came out, so i'm so happy that they got rid of them.
Also hello everyone
lol
Unless it's in a Courtside Report or something like that, they probably can't go into any details of any improvements to the system. That's what I mean. That was quite the leading question...
I reported well over 50 cheater through 2k support last year and they did nothing.
What evidence did you have? And did you have their Steam ID?
Iām interested to see how the AI interacts during gameplay. If the computer can be more competitive thatās great tbh. From what I read today Iām super excited about the gameplay changes.
Screenshots. Everything was very well documented. Gave Steam ID and everything. I would share with you but I dont have image perms here
I've been trying to find/work out what evidence is needed to get a slam dunk punishment for cheating. The initial hurdle is that you must have the Steam ID for identification. After that I'm not so sure.
It's also possible that you may have seen someone before and after a suspension and assumed nothing happened.
IDK if you can see that
It's also possible that you may have seen someone before and after a suspension and assumed nothing happened.
I highly doubt that
Problem is, "highly doubt" doesn't mean it's impossible.
I see the images (no need to spam more), and I agree they should be getting reprimanded. What reprimand, I don't know... The question is whether that connects on 2K Support's end to see the cheating and do something about it.
I don't think it's a case of logging into the game to find them...
No need to spam images. I've been modding the Steam forum for years, I've seen the main two gameplay cheating types.
So youve seen the gumby builds too then?
Seeing more builds won't change the point of the discussion.
You didn't reply to this...
Actually, very easy way to prove they did nothing. Let's check the cheater's steam profile and see if they have marks against them. Additionally, cheating is a permaban from the game. They wouldnt still be using the cheating build if they were actually disciplined.
Do you have a link to the official word saying that cheating equals permaban?
Yes, because I was falsely permabanned because my account got flagged for vc glitching
We appreciate your understanding. Please note that as this ban is not up for appeal, this will be our last correspondence in regards to this issue.
I like what Mike Wang is saying on Twitter.
It took me two weeks to get ahold of someone to overcome the ban. I even called the corporate offices of 2K.
That's your specific situation, and a different offence...
Hey Candice,
Can't remember offhand all of them, but the main MyLeague issue I'm having is with RFAs. Even if you sign them to a multi-year extension in free agency, it simply reverts their contract to a 1-year qualifying offer and they become an UFA the next year.
Also I reported this bug to them and it never got fixed even though they acknowledged it.
As for the MyLeague issues, thank you for that as well. I have someone looking into those in-game right now and they will be able to escalate those to the Development team so they can hopefully have a fix available in the next scheduled patch. Like with the exploits, if you do run into any other bugs in the game, please don't hesitate to let me know! We're not always aware on what the Development team is working on fixing here in Customer Support, but just in case they are not aware of an issue that is occurring, I definitely want to make sure that we let them know.
This was 9-months ago and it still hasnt been patched lol
Do you really believe they're trying to stop cheaters on PC?
They ended up apologizing for falsely banning me and gave me 100k VC
You're still comparing apples to oranges.
That's not related at all.
Im not. 2K support did nothing to stop cheating builds.
It is relevant in that 2K will not address legitimate issues with the PC game
You are. I asked if you had official confirmation saying cheating always equals permaban, and you pointed to a different offence.
True they didn't do anything most of them using cheat engine rest of them playing like Lebron with 60 overall
Actually they have a document somewhere that says all cheating is a permaban. Let me find it
They didn't do "anything"? Or they "didn't do enough" in your opinion?
They literally didnt do anything. The cheaters are still there
Some of my teammates played the entire year with more badges thanks to cheat engine and I was the only one who was falsely banned for 15 days
It's '22 going 23 u can't have a game on PC without an anticheat mechanism
Unless it's a single player game
The Company may terminate or suspend any and all Online Services and any registered account immediately, without prior notice or liability on thirty daysā notice, or immediately for any reason beyond the Company's reasonable control or if you breach any terms and conditions of an agreement or policy governing the Software, including this Agreement, the Privacy Policy and/or the End User License Agreement. Upon termination of your account, your right to use the Online Services will immediately cease.
Again, "highly doubt" does not mean it's impossible.
I asked for followup and they closed my ticket without responding
Check the photos on the community š
Again, I ask, do you actually believe 2K is trying to stop cheaters on PC
Two points there... The use of "may" and "suspend". Both of those show it's not always a permaban.
That doesn't answer the question.
Nice
@fluid girder answer this question please: Again, I ask, do you actually believe 2K is trying to stop cheaters on PC
Well they say they do ban anyone . But there has to be a way for the hacker to get banned before joining rec or neiborhood
Incredibly, cheating isnāt against the community code of conduct. Only circumventing VC LOL https://support.2k.com/hc/en-us/articles/4406320746771--NBA-2K22-NBA-2K-PLAYER-CODE-OF-CONDUCT
Who wants to play 2k on PC anyway?
I do because Iām a PC gamer
It also loads wayyyy faster on PC especially for MyLeague
That mentality killed the game on PC and epic had to save it
Just get a PS5
I started playing 2k cauz I got it from epic
Iām not buying a $500 console for one game
Not everyone has 700$ to give
Is it 700? Dang
All I want to know is if we can save defensive settings
My country yes 700ā¬
Bro a PC Graphics card is more than the whole ps5 bundle lol ok
I still have GTX 1050ti what do u mean
Well shouldnāt be worried about cheaters instead that graphics card
If the game runs 60 fps on that machine I should worry about hackers
It would fall under the "hacking or attempting to hack" part. It's also not the full list...
2K Players who violate the Terms of Service and/or this Player Code of Conduct may face corrective action ranging from an initial warning or temporary suspension to an account ban. Prohibited behavior subject to corrective action includes, but is not limited to, the following...
@quartz wharf I don't think PS5 runs it at 144 or more it's the same 60
I'm going to be specific here...
2K Support? Yes, they're the only contact we have on this. Whether the system allows them to do it as easily as it would ideally be? I don't know.
VC, the developers? No idea.
2K, the publisher? No idea.
No one is going to PC to play sports games like that.
There is a community there plus not everything is about gaming
Is like wanting to play cyberpunk and I say just buy a PC
That would be ideal, yes. That's on the developers, though.
@fluid girder Do you even play the game on PC?
Bro itās ok that some things on console are just better than PC and vise versa because as you can see you canāt even play next gen on PCā¦..
Lots of other games use anticheat mechanisms but I don't think they are encouraging PC gaming because it's still current gen
Which I donāt understand that either. Why is PC consistently getting current GEN?
Yes the thing that u can't cheat that easy everything else no
It saves time for companies not using anticheat for competitive games
The Xbox is essentially becoming a dedicated PC gaming rig too
There are so many competitive games on PC like lol or wow that if u hack u are ***
If you're asking that to imply that I can't understand if I don't have it, I would tell you that's got nothing to do with the discussion.
No, Iām saying if you havenāt played on PC and you havenāt tried to report a cheater and you have an Experience of seeing that same cheater on the court every day for months, then you donāt have the experience to tell me that 2K legitimately does nothing to stop cheating on PC.
Yeah I know
I mean they patching the game but that don't stop them
I donāt think they are patching the game. I reported nine months ago a glitch on my league that they acknowledge they were working on and they did nothing about it.
So Iām left to conclude that they were lying to me and werenāt patching it.
Patching doesn't mean fixing all the errors
And Iām willing to bet you anything come 2K 23, you still wonāt be able to max out rookies in my league
It means changing the code a bit to change some of it or even all of it
You would think a game thatās been around for over 20 years wouldnāt have so many issues that need to be patched
You're talking about your anecdotal experience. That's not proof that nothing is being done. And I didn't tell you anything factual, you asked if I believed...
And there are bugs that need fixing not everything is perfect
get big
Like, how many years have we gone now where when you play as the Warriors on play now Klay Thompson still swaps on to centers in man-to-man coverage. This is an oddly specific error that hasnāt been patched for four years now.
Things like that tell me the developers donāt care about much more than creating aesthetics they can sell in the store for VC
You have heard of Skyrim, right?
Being a developer I know that there are numerous problems sometimes but the team chooses what is the most important ones to change
And getting new swag is more important than fixing issues apparently
One person reporting an issue doesn't mean it will be fixed. The developers would have a host of issues to deal with and have to prioritise
If they have agreed with the brand yes
I would also imagine it's different teams...
OK, then hire more developers. 2K make plenty of money they can afford a couple extra.
@crisp delta Please use #š¤lfg-instructions to find players
It doesn't work that way
It's like u want a baby coming in 1 month and u get 9 women
wait
Take to made 600 million in profit last year. They canāt hire one person to monitor the park and bang cheaters as they see them?
ĀÆ_(ć)_/ĀÆ
how do i make the thing for a squad?
and then looking for squad
ppl suck at 22
Ngl
Are u seeing 2k or visual concept?
Plus it's not that easy to deliver a product that huge in just a year
That's why they are patching and try to fix
The channel. Go to #889974796677419068 and check the options.
Try clicking it
i did it now
So do you now see the channels on the left?
yea
Do you see #š¤lfg-instructions and others below it?
yea
That's where you go to look for players.
Nice!
Yo
@chilly ivy Please go to #š¤lfg-instructions to find players
Really interested to see how the Adrenaline Boosts feature is implemented. I really enjoyed dribbling in 2K22, but the left/right and one player just spamming dribble moves for 22 seconds of the shot clock was a major issue in MyPlayer online and MyTeam online. The Adrenaline Boost feature seems to limit someone to only 3 "speed boost" moves per possession. That honestly sounds great.
In both MyPlayer online and MyTeam online, hopefully teams will be forced to have at least a secondary ball handler on the court and maybe even a tertiary ball handler. Sounds awesome.
Yea i think everone hated the guys who had no x button
hello everybody
I've been wanting to play park recently but my build is really bad so i wanted to know if someone could help
Youāll probably have more luck in #šmycareer #š°mycareer-neighborhood (depending on which gen youāre playing on).
š¤£
I think Adrenaline boosts are the feature I'm most excited for. It's especially useful for someone like myself who likes to make a move, maybe two and then move on to the next action
Does anybody know if they ever said anything about play now with friends for like 5v5 team up
Im jusy happy that sniper gone
š« Jeremiah Gregoire, you can't use that.
Well yea but also when I play on my playmaker I like to dribble, they couldāve just nerfed dribbling in a sense that it takes more stamina
The most consistently you do it
Finally got a chance to read through that Goliath of a courtside report. I appreciate the detail it was just hella long. The words have me excited. The emphasis on team play is going to be fun for everyone and not just the pg going behind a screen at the top while everyone else watches. Here's to hoping no one finds the work around within the first week
I feel like most people are gonna find the meta within a month just because of the new build system
But the jumper requirements might play a part
Not sure there is much to be done about that. Meta will always exist in any video game. I'd just like the meta to not involve one person doing all the scoring while everyone else watches.
Tbh with that badge that adds boost to shooting when standing in the corner is gonna be the meta badge
Is it even without the ball in your hands now?
Yep
Loved that badge
Would mistime my jumper and it always came in clutch
I'm sorry if this was already asked, will the dunk meter be on current/old gen in 2k23?
Thereās certain dunks you can do to get it to pop up, but you arenāt forced to use it, the only dunks youāll see it with is if someone does up-down for a normal skill dunk or down-down for a rim hang skill dunk on their right stick
Up , left, right, down, and up-up all avoid the dunk meter
The build playmaking shot creator is not a real concept in my opinion. You have playmakers, shot-creators and offensive threats. Slashing playmaker is OP as well but not as playshot because consistent threes are better than twos. I havenāt seen a real life play shot in basketball.
I believe that it's new-gen exclusive
is all star team up coming backš
Well this is the other part I like. Ball handlers need to be mindful and decisive with their actions on both ends. The previous system benefitted people who were decidedly the opposite š
Completely agree. I hope this fixes the toxic and boring left-righting cheese
ngl i feel like the city on the new gen finna be fye cause itās going to be a different one
There will almost certainly be complaints from that crowd. I think this is absolutely a spot where reverting back is not an option. Looking at the clip of Lonzo in the Dev Blog, it looks very true to life, and if it can stick around, that'd be great
Okay, my second read of the Dev Blog so I can give some concrete thoughts:
-- Dunk meter felt very superfluous to me this year already. Not sure how I feel about doubling down on it. Hopefully the oddities with it on XBox are amended.
-- Also not completely sure how I feel about mapping things like Euros and Post Shimmies to the switchback and double throw gestures. I'm certain I'll get the hang of it, but I did like having simpler button commands for those moves, in order to better read when to pull them off instead of having to concentrate on a stick movement first and foremost.
-- New Layup Packages are always a plus!
-- Attacking size-ups and the emphasis on decisiveness in dribbling may be my (second) favorite portion of the blog!
-- I'm perhaps in the minority, but I think the jumpshot ratings are a cool idea and I'm hopeful that they'll give different advantages to different jumpshot types, rather than it being "quickest jumper wins"
-- Really love the delayed green animations. Gives players a reason to crash the boards rather than knowing a shot is dropping the second it leaves the shooter's hand.
-- As we know by now, the return of the Y backdoor cut is my favorite part of the blog š
-- The Spot-Up mechanic sounds incredible too
-- I love the defensive changes. Hoping to see more organic and realistic defensive animations in game this year, should really make for a nice chess match between ball handlers who have to be decisive and on-ball defenders trying to anticipate their move.
-- The blocking changes sound nice, but perhaps the most underrated part of the blog is the "fly by" animations. Shooting fouls were so common last year and having this will be incredibly helpful.
-- Not a big MyCareer guy, but the badge tiers and "core" badges sound really intriguing. Core badges sound like an especially nice touch! (1/2)
(Continued)
-- Claymore may be the new badge I'm most excited for. I love the spot up game.
-- With the return of Limitless Range, I gotta say I love that 2k does this kind of thing, not just staying with the status quo, but trying something different (Limitless Spot-Up/Chef in 22) and saying, hey, we tried it, it didn't work, let's go back. Some might malign that, I greatly appreciate it because it shows a commitment to the quality of the product.
-- The Team Takeover overhaul simultaneously intrigues and worries me. Hopefully it'll take a particularly big run to earn it. For my preferred mode, MyTeam, I'm getting flashbacks to Showtime from 21, and that led to some.... unenjoyable... experiences. Hopefully Team Take is slightly more difficult to obtain.
-- Don't play against the AI as much as I used to, but the changes to AI dribble attacks are a great idea. The AI isn't always the most... decisive... as of right now and anything to change that is a plus imo.
-- Defensive AI changes sound great. Hopefully they're saved from game to game in MyTeam as they were in Play Now Online this year.
That's about all I've got on my second read!
This was a solid read
I appreciate it!
Did they say they were removing button commands for euros all together or just making another option?
That's a good point. I suppose I assumed on that one. It does not say for sure either way
Gotcha I guess we'll see I hope they keep those options though.
I'm still waiting to see if they will be implementing the new transition foul rule in 2k. If you intentionally foul or swipe to stop transition you get 1 free throw and possession of the ball. Can anyone confirm or deny? š¤
So did they take away the dribble handoff command by replacing it with the new command to get shooters open?
I was wondering the same. Hoping that holding with no stick input will do the handoff.
Oooh... I didn't even think about the handoff command š¬ Hopefully it's there in some capacity
Mmm yea!
I cant make a shot without greening even though i have sniper hof and 93 3pt
It's cool that current gen is getting the new MyPlayer build system, double takeovers, etc. I prefer playing on new gen, but I still had a lot of friends who were on current, so I played a lot of both gens for 2K22. 2K23 will be really refreshing.
Jusy
Dude I went from getting 0 points a game when I first started playing and 5 minutes of playing time to now in starting lineup averaging 15-20 points a game and starting lineup
trust me dunk meter sucks just do what @south crystal said
Did Wang drop anymore tweets today?
I didn't see any
there gonna drop news basically every week so we will be getting a lot of news
I just read the report for the second time, and it seems like it has really good improvements from 2k21 and 2k22 (I'm at Current Gen and Fyi I didn't play 2k22 so I'm looking forward to 2k23), plus the next gen my player builder going to current gen, that's nice (even tho I want the pie chart since I want the playmaking shot creator build), but I have a question. Are the new Badges for 2k23 going to both gens, or no?
another question just went to my head again but it's about having adjustments I mean improvements to the game for MyCareer, where can I talk about it?
He probably got handles but he nots making his shot from threes all the time. You telling me left right?
š§¢ but 8/10 is crazy. He needs to go to the league. You canāt just go shooting on the perimeter with elite defense. You can decide if you want to drive/shoot/pass. Itās all about keeping offense and defense honest. Making decisions to put the team in a better position to win. You only three hunt when you have too do it. Well, itās Steph curry fault. But I see your point as well.
As long as you focus on playmaking and shooting primarily, you can still make a Play shot with the builder, with the added focus being that you can add a tertiary focus to be a decent finisher or defender as well
Ok Thanks
One problem about current gen is high /low rec
I think it has to be fixed and be just one rec because 1) we get to max out our players , 2) overall 70 players will understand u have to grind a bit before going to the rec
I kinda disagree here? I like when it's divided into >92 and <92 for Rec. Makes it nice for me, someone who doesn't play a lot of Rec, but occasionally likes to come over.
Plus that accessibility is there if you're not quite finished with a build
Yea but if u go and finish the build u cant find any matches and that results in everyone going 92 and playing comp low rec with u as opponents . Or at least set the bar lower to 60-80 and 80-99
I don't really think that's an issue with low/high rec. That's more an issue of squads being placed in the same rec pool as randoms
I suppose I could be wrong, but from my perspective, "pub stomping" isn't really a problem with the low/high system, but rather how the system views squads
Or maybe I'm misunderstanding you
I found u a solution 60-80 80-99 . So players that are casual can play low and the others go high
Well, the issue with that is that 85 is relatively easy to hit. I personally usually start at 85.
92 makes perfect sense to me.
the problem isnt with the squads but with the stats i have like 6 unfinished builds at 92 just to find low rec matches and play with my squad
Well why aren't you guys going above 92? What's the reasoning?
Ah. Okay, that could be my misunderstanding then. In my experience on Next Gen, 92+ has no issue with that
yea but if u play on pc everyone is 92
Part of that is probably smaller player base on the console, not a current gen-wide issue
yea i agree
for us if u see a 95 at rec he is a cheater most likely
Ergo, it doesn't really make sense to change the system, unfortunately. Not sure what the PC solution would be but I don't think dividing it differently works
Because in my experience on both current and next, I found the <92 scene to be really fun, even as a random.
One friend of mine got nba on xbox sx and he said high and low rec doesnt exist
is this true?
Oh... I'm on Series S. I thought it did, but it's been a looong time since I've played. Perhaps I'm wrong
I don't think there's any high low rec on next gen. Usually see 89-99 matched together
Okay I'm probably just losing my marbles then lol
The new thing I think is happening is that after playing 1 game with randoms the matchmaking considers you a team and you have an increased chance of matching against a squad
Or it could be that teams that stay together get matched against each other. Just theorizing how I saw it
Don't remember seeing it mentioned but I hope current doesn't have the fluctuating overalls. I feel like it threw testing builds off a little. The overalls was the main reason I thought the high/low rec made some sense.
At least on PC we are a small community compared to consoles . The thing is that nobody plays pro am 5v5 teams stay at rec with 92 overall so they are going against randoms with 60-92 or a 95+ if they are a cheater. When u go 93+ your matchmaking becomes a difficulty. That's why I recommend a change in that
The most difficult rating to pass is the 80 one . The idea of 60-80 and 81+ for low and high rec might be a solution or high /low not existing at all . So we can find more for matchmaking and also help the new players test or upgrade their builds
If anyone is pro can he suggest this at game feedback ?
That's a good point. The communities size probably means there should less barriers for games to start. Console kind has the pro-am issue at times too. Less teams to play against as they level up (from what I've heard).
Unfortunately I am not a pro so I can't post them at game feedback to be upvoted
For ps4 I always see like 90ās matched up with 70ās and occasionally 60ās
Who?
no
Yes by creating a new barrier 60-80 u can have 60s play with max 80s and players who are more serious can go for 80-99 . It will be like having 2 divisions . Or it can go the other way ( the next gen way ) of not having a limit
There are people complaining about the game already. Haven't even played it and talking about how they think you won't be able to get open. Can we play the game before criticizing stuff š
I'm not surprised. Especially Adrenaline Boosts are going to be a shock to the system for some š¤£
That said, I do understand some constructive criticism even sight unseen. I'm definitely in wait and see mode on the things I'm concerned about, but on the whole I'm pretty pleased with what I've heard, so it's perhaps a little less difficult from that perspective lol
I just now thought about the 2v2 mode, that might be a lot more difficult with the new adrenaline boost system
Playmaking shot creator was the op build for 22 . Some of them are using real player % . It isn't fair to the slashers who have the defender with the Hof intimidator equipped. So nice change there !!
Plus I saw in trailer they are going to work more on mid post fades as well this year and that's exciting !!
What do u think will be op next year?
We really won't know until we can get into the builder and see what everyone can mix up
Definitely interior finishing and mid range shots
So mostly the slasher /shooting builds I think they showed it with the dunks on the trailer and the new badges . It will be that or perfectly balanced .
Im so sick of playing dumb kids with kronus controllers when I get in the upper tiers of play now. @solid river @severe horizon @mortal scarab Please fix this
None of the 2K staff here are developers, so pinging them isn't going to result in instant fixes.
I agree that I think slashing/dunking will be strong. IDK about under the rim finishes because that was a pain point from '22. Mid range game being strong i dont mind at all. It would allow for a different dynamic than we've seen in the past and encourage people to play 2K differently
My hope is that 2K gives it at least 2 months before making any significant gameplay changes
The community will complain im sure, but they need time to adjust to everything
Do you do youtube?
No. Why you ask that
2k better Lower volume/remove the gatorade practice courts music for 2k23. Itās way too loud. I canāt listen to my own music playlist. So annoying
Why did the 8/1 suggestion get 10 thumbs down ?
It's super annoying to have to keep playing without rest when my player's stamina is low and unproductive
Prob cuz he said that there should be a limit idk
limit makes sense tbh
There are a few things I'm hoping to see improved on the next game as far as gameplay. The biggest two being more body reactions and offensive animations being faster. One of the biggest problems is body parts don't react to each other and that's why so many blocks and steals happen. How are we in 2022 and we still have arms going through bodies to get steals and blocks? Arms going through arms, the ball going through legs and feet to allow a pass, fixing this would fix a lot of the annoying aspects of the game.
Faster offensive animations would be nice too. 1) Passing is wayyy too slow, even if you cut the slider up in regular games, the amount of time it takes to actually pass the ball is mind blowingly slow. 2) layups are irrelevant because they are crazy slow and so are dunk animations, which is another reason defense is OP. 3) Slow down the defense in general, it's crazy that the defense gets so many speed boost running through certain areas of the court. It's hella annoying to have someone open and the pass animation is so slow the defender gets a steal because the pass takes forever. It's also annoying to go for a dunk and someone jumps from the FT line to block it. 4) Jumping, especially on defense, is completely unrealistic. Everyone don't jump at their full potential everytime they jump in real life, but on 2k they do! The midrange game is so ineffective because of the ground defenders can cover in the air. In fact, late defending jumpers and moving block attempters should be punished more with more fouls. You're more prone to jump into people if you're always late jumping at them.
I'm glad they're trying something new to shut the spamming dribbles down, but they should also punish missed steal attempts more. Ppl just stand in place and mash the steal button, or chase you but mash the steal button in certain spots and it's like you can never get by them. Speaking of that, can we please make the Right thumbstick do something for offball? Can I shove or cut better or something. Even with HoF slippery offball you constantly get stuck on defenders who just walk in front of you. Also, make ppl aim to block and steal. You can literally push the block button, but the game will make you jump in the direction of the ball automatically. Same with steals when the ball is in the air or about to be passed.
Okay rant over. I just feel like these things would improve the balance between offense and defense and make ppl have to actually be able to play smartly.
what giveaway code?
uh yeah i aint reading that
lol so don'tš¤·š¾āāļø
but its prolly a valid opinion
so I approve whatever the hell that is
š¤
š
haha sounds good
@dusk vessel as stated previously, so don't š¤·š¾āāļøš
I want to get hyped for 23 because the news sounds really good, but the community crying and 2K folding worries me man
Like all of this won't matter if they roll back most of the new stuff. I think they should just trust themselves and take mass feedback with a grain of salt
Let things play out properly
The plan is to be resistant to reactionary changes! Community feedback will of course be listened to, but from a wide group of voices representative of the gameās player base.
they generally just listen to the YT and Pro ppl. I agree with you tho. Just like how height mattered when shooting, and they got rid of it because ppl were complaining.
This is excellent to hear! I just dont want you guys to be pressured into making unnecessary changes after putting in so much hard work. One thing you have to realize is that a portion of this community actively seeks to exploit the game and will be unhappy if they can't do that.
Discretion should be used when receiving that type of feedback. Instead, balance should be the aim
@stable yacht I agree with everything said especially with how OP defense has been around the mid-range area. It has been a pet peeve since 2K18.
go to #š¤lfg-instructions
How I use it
idk, I have the channels there muted
no
Dnt act like fades in da mid range aren't opš
appreciate it. Sadly, I don't think they'll do anything to fix it. The coverage percentage needs to dwindle. I'm a pretty solid shooter, if you play like an arms length off me or just put a hand up, it doesn't bother me. Look at what Steph does, but on 2k just because someone stands close it's at least a 30%... terrible
Mid ranges are opš
Idk what yu on
Must not be shooting the right shots or right badges
Trae young fade shoots ova ppl in middy
lol you're talking about AI though, correct? We're talking in rec vs ppl
Noš
On my 5'10 I can Trae young fade ova ppl
like post fade or just straight fade?
interesting, never seen it work effectively in rec.
Must not be playin wit the right ppl
@stable yacht Not just Curry but Kobe, McGrady, Jordan, Durant, Ray Allen, Dirk, Hakeem, Bird, etc.
The defense on Mid-Range shots does need an adjustment especially with how people let Intimidator bail them out by just standing there or being late on closeouts.
Buff mid range defense
I can literally shoot mid range fades ova ppl all game
I want to see clips lol
@regal urchin Fade Ace is a post scoring badge and to be honest as a big man in 2K22. Post Fade arenāt as efficient as they should be along with the fact that the post fade animations are clunky, stiff, slow, and doesnāt create much separation. Players have a better chance at hitting 3 pointer than a post fade by the rim. Post Scoring in general isnāt as efficient or consistent as it used to be unless youāre paint mashing (which isnāt post scoring by the way).
Oh I agree. I just used Steph as an example.
I dnt post fade
But on my big wen I rarely do fade they pretty easy
I thought we was talm Abt normal mid range fades
@regal urchin My bad, I misread. I thought you wrote āFade Aceā because people think that badge effect their fadeaway and it doesnātš .
To be honest, I donāt see many guard taking fadeaway or pull-up middies. Theyāre usually shooting fadeaway or pull-ups from three.
3s will always be dominant
I rarely take middies tbh
Yu good
Itās easy to contest people in the mid-range area from my experience. Dudes can back up and somehow get an abnormal recovery on defense especially with Chase Down Artist when it comes to layups and dunks.
Put the duck "quick drops off one"
Dunk*
On the mid range thing,I'm not to sure tbh only time I shoot a middie is wen my guy is crabbed
I understand that and I agree but there is more to the game of basketball than the three point shot. 2K has been a three point shooting galore for years. Itās to the point where their no point in post scoring, taking mid-range shots, or driving to basket. Just hunt for three pointers all game. There isnāt much diversity or advantages for other offensive play styles in game.
nothing beats dunking
š
Iām a big man so I canāt apply that dunk but that also validate that defense is overpowered in this game. Out of all the dunk animation in this game, I have to use āQuick Drop off Oneā to not get blocked on a consistent basis because of a overpowered badge like Chase Down Artist. Thatās ridiculous and Iām glad itās getting re-tuned and revamped for 2K23.
I agree
Juss was tryna help yu out
Whats yo build ?
Pump fake, do some dribble dribble, and SLAM that ball in over tall men
AI in MyCareer was not good at defending slashers
Not winning online doing that
I know but the fact I have to do that is ridiculous. Whatās the point of the other dunk animation if I only have to use one? šššš
I agree
true, it's why I mentioned AI in MyCareer
I do that and still have to deal with another overpowered defensive badge āPOGO Stickā. I stay getting bodied block by bigger players and rarely getting any foul calls for defender being undisciplined with the Triangle/Y button. Itās a lose lose situation for me.
Online? You're probably still doing better than me
Yessir. It happens pretty much everyday with me. I can have 4 players jump at a pump fake by me and Iāll never get a foul call or Iāll get weird layup or dunk animation thatās usually slow and get block. I canāt winššš
2K logic
Exactly, makes no sense.
4 players jump? Then passš
Iām 6ā9 PF 2 Way 3 Level Scorer and I dunk on mfs š¤£š¤£
If only it was that easyš. Iāve pass out of shots like that and the ball bounces off one of the jumping players body and itās a turnover or after jumping for the block they get a steal because of how slow passing animations are in this game. To be fair, I shouldnāt have to pass out those kind of shots. It should be a foul especially if itās 2-4 defender jumping at me multiple times.
Big man arms literally have to like wind up 2 throw passes ts is wild
Whts your bullet passer on ?
I have the worst luck as a big man on this game. Iāll be sure to make a guard in 2K23.
My bullet passer is on Bronze. I thought that wouldāve been good enough as a big man but I guess I was wrong.
Fr I did the same problemš
Same thing *
I disagree. I think the game encouraging the mid-range shot is a GREAT thing. It adds more diversity to gameplay
I'd agree. I've had good success in the mid range this year and I'm excited for the mid range badge in 23
https://twitter.com/beluba/status/1556640248540438528?s=21&t=RFPamWcPx0uxOreRDcS9WA I like this idea
#NBA2K23 Adrenaline boosts are restored on shot clock resets. also toying with the idea of slowly replenishing 1 or 2 if you slow down and wait long enough. From Nextmaker feedback, weāre also going to support boosts on defense. Steal and block attempts will cost a boost.
1438
161
Looks like the more you spam steal, the less successful you steal the ball
Yeah. Great idea honestly.
Brings balance all around
My question is how this will change the mechanics of defense. Right now, a very helpful defensive strategy if you like to play on ball is to hold L2 and tap R2 as you shuffle. Could be placebo, but I feel like I find more success with that. My only fear is that this would cost boosts.
But again, that's a wait and see thing. I'm glad they're thinking about it
R2 makes Yu slide
Only hold R2 to catch up
It sounds intriguing. I hope this will be a balance or cooldown effect to the POGO Stick and Interceptor badge.
I've not experienced that. Usually I find it leads to a faster shuffle when tapped
If they're changing directions a lot, I'll stop tapping on the change of direction, but other than that I've noticed no negatives in four years (?)
Could also just be a comfort level/placebo effect thing too, but either way
As of right now, the fast shuffle doesn't cost any boosts. At least that's what i've heard. If they leave the cost of boosts on defense to only block/steal attempts, then i think it's pretty fairly balanced
Especially if dribbler movement is faster than defensive movement like it has been in the past
This way, a good defender is rewarded for maintaining good positioning, and is punished for making careless gambles for steals or blocks
Keeping good position should be priority
I really hope they nerf fadeaways from 3s to the GROUND in 2k23
Why is it easier to make a fadeaway 3 than a layup in the paint as a point guard?
Its simply not unless Yu made your build tht way
Fadeaways from 3 should not be this easy to green
That isnāt realistic, 2k is a simulation game not a nonsimulation
If yu make a 5'11 with a 99 three point,we shouldn't be able to make threes ?
Tht would make a high three point useless
What point guard u see in the nba do fadeaway 3s and make them all the time? Not even curry does that often. Iām not saying PGs shouldnāt be able to make 3s at all and Iām not saying they shouldnāt make contested shots either. Iām saying nerf fadeaways from the 3
So,do you think it's fine if the fades are harder, but people still are skillfull enough to make them ?
Fadeaway 3s should not be a go to option for anyone. Fadeaway 3s should be a last resort. There really isnāt any skill to it. All you do is run around in circles or by screens, run to the corner, and fade (most likely greening it). Iāve versed hundreds of people who have literally done that. I for once, even do that because I donāt have a choice.
But it's skill if they make hard to green and ppl are juss good enough 2 do it
Oh yeah I agree
I get fought on this point way too much to keep my sanity š
It would get boring atp
My opinion: the most operative skill in the game ought to be shot selection. By nature, a fading three is a low percentage shot regardless.
So they should make it nonsimulation because the contract between 2k and NBA states that 2k has to make āsimulationā games
But not if yu can time it
There's timing for a reason
Does that somehow change the percentage on it?
Yes
Yes. Timing should be secondary
If iss open yes,no fades go in that are 50% contested unless issa fluke shot
They should lower the % when fading, the farther you are from the basket the lower the %
No, it doesn't. This is an objectively incorrect answer. Because on the floor, there is no "timing" mechanism. It's not a great shot regardless. Setting up for a stand-still three is always better, and it should be as such
We're inna video game not on the floor thoš
This is just another way in which greens have negatively effected gameplay
Yu cnt quick stop if your not off a burst this year, the fades are necessary sometimes
This is what joey is talking about though. The operative skill in an NBA simulation should be shot selection.
But we inna video game
Ppl wanna have fun
Okay. That does not somehow make it a better shot
My point
You can have all the fun you want with fading threes. Knock yourself out. I'll have fun watching you miss a poorly selected shot.
I'm not gonna missšI'm good @ da game
What I was saying is itās gotten out of hand that a fadeaway would be someoneās 1st option instead of getting open or passing
I mean I kinda get what your saying but we have 5'10 builds with 99 3pt,and 30-40 shooting badges
We should be able to make fades
This is where I don't get this argument from a gameplay standpoint. That decision to shoot a fading three should naturally hurt your percentage.
Yeah a PG that size should since you are at a disadvantage at height but I have a 6ā6 SG who can fadeaway from 3 and green š
Like thatās ridiculous
Bc yu can time it
And prolly have a high 3
Again though... "because you can time it" does not mean it ought to be a good shot.
This is how I see it,fades should be harder then they are,but If yu have an elite 3pt shooting build then they should be consistent to make if you are skilled enough
That's the entire issue here. If you're willingly taking a lower percentage shot because you can time it then perhaps something needs to change with how that particular mechanic works
But it's not low % if your open with a build that can make those
All they have to do is reduce the shot % when fading deep. Back then, people would almost never fadeaway EVER unless it was a last option or if it was a midrange
This 2k, fadeaways are a 1st option
Most ppl don't fade away very deep
Idk about 1st option, but they're certainly up there
In MyTeam I see a lot of fades from the corners. As players have gotten better, those very rarely miss
Which is kind of fun, but not the best and brightest of gameplay
Well if youāre up against a 5ā8 PG in the city then itās either left right cheese or fadeaways lol
And that's the issue
Sure. MyTeam has a slightly different meta, but it's there
They have every badge HOF and 99 every stat
They should be able 2š
Myteam is same thing also
Yeah. That's part of the problem though...
I agree wit that
But they have it so they should easily be able to make fades
Myteam was rushed that is why myteam gameplay fell apart rn
I agree
Imo, there should be no "cocktail" of badges or even ratings that ought to make a fader a high percentage shot at any point.
That is literally the only reason why myteam gameplay is horrible. Everyone has end games even tho they should be the hardest cards to get
Before the end game mess, gameplay was great
Iss like this every year at the end
Well, not so much that. It's just that they take it where they always do. It's ended up this way each of the past four years really
This game is terrible gameplay wiseš
Agreed. It was pretty solid
Well not great but I mean easier to play
I don't really agree. Flawed? Yes. Terrible? No.
It wasn't perfect, but 22 is probably the best 2k I've played since 16
Ai's don't Gaurd corner,corner drops,paint mashing,weird load up animations
Ai's watch the players go 2 three on fast breaks
Iss like this every year
Yeah thatās why everyone ran coaching assignments
20>22 21>22 19>22
The first two can be fixed with settings. Not ideal, but it can be fixed. Mashing needs to be helped for sure
The coaching suggestions dnt fix it šš
Exactly
There's a reason even the comp players complain
Wow, I uh... don't agree there š
Corners drop no matter what
Corner drops were worse in 21 if that's your metric
20 had the unstoppable behind the back glitch
Yeah. I don't disagree. It was fixable, but not great.
Def fixable
No reason ai's should be leaving ppl @ the 3 wide open
In rec the 85 ovr AI would constantly leave the opponent open for 3 and suck at shooting
I feel like, on the floor, the bones are really good. Shore up some of those little things (the dev blog did talk about that some) and we're going to be in very good shape for 23
Thats how dumb the AI is rn
And 2 make it worse ai's can't shoot in recš
I'm ova here getting doubled cuz the ai wanna miss wide open shotsš
Fr
I think inna way we all kinda agree on these topics
And for the most part why do we get an AI to fill for a teammate when MILLIONS of people are looking to play with randoms
š
Donāt make no sense they better fix that next 2k stg
Yeah canāt stop a big man paint mashing unless you time the block on the 500 pump fakes he puts up
Mad annoying
Wrd
I also pump fake 30 timesš
I mean we all do š¤·āāļø thats how the game is. If you paint mash, we all paint mash
Yu run Big ?
Nah I run with my 6ā6 SG but I have other build I rarely use like my 93 PG and 91 C
Oh igh
There is a 2k youtuber with a very similar name
Yea I'm part of the family. I usually run with him but I had some stuff to do today
Why canāt the all star weekend be in play now and not locked in myleague?
that's actually a good idea. It's not even in online myleagues
ontop if that the AI be straight garbage too! The game literally punishes those who try to stay and finish a game. Yeah, AI doesn't need to be OP, but can they hit more than 2 shots if wide open? Ppl will triple team if you have two AIs on your team and there's no punishment for it.
then on your team, they constantly get in the way, especially if you playing a MyL game against AI. Why do I have to call an Iso (which barely works) if I'm matched up with my C vs a G in the paint... your AI will literally just stand next to you no matter what offensive set you're runningš¤¦š¾āāļø
Teammate AI is the worst
make it so u can have to different colored shoes
whatās the new content for the new season
The Adrenaline Boost on defense sounds good in theory, but I'm not sure how they can implement that. Apparently, defenders also have three boost that get used every time they jump or go for a steal. If anyone has played on next gen, people who go into the paint pump fake like 4-5 times before they either go up or pass out. They need to really tone down mashing on next gen if they're going to tie boost to jumping.
I really like how it sounds to use boost to limit steals. There's way too much steal spam on defense. Even people defending a corner who are constantly pressing the steal button when the ball isn't within 20 feet of them. This will make those people stop doing that, which is nice.
You actually have to choose wisely when to intercept the ball instead of spamming square/X, hoping that you get the steal when someone passes it your direction. Probably one of best ideas theyāve came up with to counter steal spams. Should die down the amount of intercepted passes and steals
I agree
I agree with this. Even though I barely play games in the neighborhood or rec on current gen, everyone always be spamming X to intercept passes.
I think 2K nerfed the Interceptor badge a bit to help the issue, but it really didnāt do that much.
Do you guys think that the āAdrenaline Boostā will have any effect on POGO Stick? How would it effect the badge? If all the boost are gone, will fouls be called for being undisciplined or will the badge lose itās effectiveness after each jump until the boost is gone?
Either of those make sense honestly
I like the idea of multiple aggressive blocks causing a foul since theoretically they could cause contact.
I'm hoping the body up system helps with 'doing the work early.' Would be nice if a strength difference helped keep people from getting position in the paint. In theory. Could make cuts near the paint annoying. Hopefully the longer contest window helps hands up down low. Multiple pumps does also branch to up and under so I wonder if good inside and post moves you around stationary defenders.
@left tangle @crisp delta @mortal scarab Please do absolutely anything about cheaters on PC please
If a certain jumpshot works on 2k22 will it work on 23? Or does that depend on how the gameplay is
Do you want to join a 2k rp server where you simulate high school to nba online and offline where we also do gta rp and madden all consoles
I think one year, 2k should combine with gta and make it more open, almost like the city but with cars and available options, such as: drive to the crib, gym, rec, games, friends house and more. So basically as if 2k and gta rp combined. Thatāll definitely help more ppl to play the game and less to leave. Similar to gta rp but Basically making it more realistic.
There's a bunch of new jump shots being added to 2K23, and they more than likely will tweak some of the jumpers currently in the game. Ultimately, you'll have to wait until you get your hands on the game and test out jumpers to determine if you still enjoy the jumper.
2k23 is going to be so bad
i feel like we need something like 2k16 again
2k23 might be better then 2k22 but like :|
ong
How come you feel this way? At least give the game a chance.
You donāt even know what changes are coming at all
22 is the closest to 16 I've felt since. 23's changes seem positive on the whole
the way that they are ending 22 and the leaks that have come out just feel wrong
i do have some hope
mostly bc of mj on the cover
ik that they know how to make a good and fun 2k
but will they?
I just think coming to a conclusion about 2K23 is a mistake. It's fine to be skeptical of some of the changes we know about, but at least wait until you have the game and put some time into it before making a judgement. Also, you could consider not getting the game at launch and seeing what people say about the game after the first week or two before buying.
i think im clouded with nostalgia
one of those games where you would go to a friends sleepover and stay up all nigh playing it
It might also help to identify the concerns you've got. I've got a few as well, even though I'm generally pleased with the first dev blog.
that's what I did, and I have ragrets
People just can't stand the thought of change.
It's turned to 11 with 2k as well because as soon as 23 drops, whatever cheese they were used to in 22 is unlikely to be viable. That's why, imo, it's better by and large to rely on basketball IQ and knowing that game, over knowing the quirks of that specific 2k
I feel like 2k is that game that you always end up buying every year bc its the only decent basketball game out there
Lack of competition never helps, but for me it's 2k's depth that keeps me coming back. Imo, they work very hard to create a good gameplay experience each year. Some years it works better than others, but they're always trying to tweak, adjust and improve, which is much appreciated imo.
It is lol
Iāve played every other basketball game
Until EA try do nba live again no game has a chance vs 2k
Live 18 was a good game, but it was very different from 2k. I don't know that I can envision a scenario in which Live is a "better" game. But I can envision a scenario where both exist, both are very strong and both push each other in different ways
The last 2 live were good
I didn't play much of 19. What I did I felt was a step back from 18, but it wasn't bad for sure.
try using #š¤lfg-instructions to find teammates
The Jordan Challenge trailer was nothing but sensational. I like all the minor to major details that each cutscene has in the game (along with the college and Team USA games). Along with a new jump shot animation that was giving to him in 2K23. I like the fact that their going all out on this mode and doing more for it compare to 2K11.
I would love to see is more of these type of modes in future 2K. For example in 2K24, It would be nice to be able to do the same thing with Kobe Bryant and his career.
Oh yeah, Does anyone know if Create-A-Legend will return in 2K23?
18 is 1 of the worst 2ks ever
Yes, that was in reference to Live
2k18 was not good at all, I'd agree lol
Im in school bored asl my fault
I don't normally enjoy single-player/offline stuff in 2K, but the Jordan Challenges look great. The trailer was fantastic, especially with all the legendary people appearing and making comments. Cool stuff.
The Jordan trailer got me hyped enough to pre-order š
I hate this game so much. Get rid of all badges. Reward smart plays and quit letting everything be determined by the animation.
Why do you play a game you hate so much? Why not play something you enjoy?
because no other good nba game out there that's up to date
So play something else you love. I never understand people who spend so many hours playing something they say they hate
if there isnāt an NBA game you enjoy playing, then why play one you hate? You donāt have to play.
You donāt have to buy it
The one sure fire way to get a game to change is to not buy it
??
Man I just donāt get it with yāall ya do spread weird hate on it but still play it š«”
Problem is, I want to play an NBA video game, but one that's current/released in the last three years or so, but given that they're likely the only company that makes and releases the game, there's no other alternative.
Yeah, thatās it. No other basketball game to play. I loved NBA live 18. It was really good.
That still doesnāt answer why you spend so much time and money on a game you profess to hate.
Not a hard concept to understand. If NBA Live was still releasing every year, then it wouldn't make sense to play NBA2K if the person hates that game more than Live.
Just wait for 2K23 that will be better than 22 if ya donāt like it
They said that about 22, and it was not better.
Same here
I bought it because I believed others, and I had regrets but couldn't return it. Spent the money, might as well play it.
There were years I didnāt like the product 2K released and I stopped playing it
Ye
It's very frustrating dealing with stuff like teammate AI double-teaming and leaving his man open OR somehow being slower than a snail when defending and letting his man score.
I feel like people enjoy complaining about games more than playing them
I did the same as well until the game was on sale.
Itās literally the same thing with Madden 23 even though itās a lot better game than years ago
If you like the game, then of course you'd feel lik ethat.
Fr
I still just play Madden 05 on an emulator. GOATed Madden
Ye
I remember Madden 07 had the vision cone. I actually like that. Made the game more realistic and challenging.
While I wouldn't say that I hate the game, I do think these are fair critiques. Personally, I err more towards something like the 5 signature skill system that 13 had. Badges really do throw things out of whack in some cases (particularly on the shooting side of things) but I'm afraid they're here to stay
Badges should be linked to unique skills that not all players can do, not simply a buff to base stats. There shouldnāt be a ārebound chaserā badge. A higher rebound rating should just naturally make your player chase after the ball. A badge for step back jumpers makes sense, because itās independent of shooting and not all players can do it.
Many of the things that are badges should really just be ratings. Deadeye, stop and pop, catch and shoot. Those should just be player ratings.
I'd completely agree frankly. Though I do think that something like rebound chaser could be useful to make guys like Drummond stand apart
Agreed here as well. The biggest issue, particularly focusing on catch and shoot, is that it modifies shot percentage to be even higher than what they would be on the base rating and that's a net negative imo
But the issue is that badges are now so entrenched that the community would revolt if they were removed
In my opinion, there should be two basic shooting ratings ā shooting and range, and then the way the defense plays just lowers the chance those shots go in. For example, Steph Curry could have a 99 shooting and 99 range because in a bubble, thereās a 99 percent chance he can make an open shot anywhere on the floor. Shooting off the dribble or catch and shoot or being contested should lower these percentages with the amount deducted dependent on opposition defensive rating and the shooters own grade for those different factors.
Yāall ready for 2k23?
So like DeRozen for example. He would have something like 90 shooting but only 60 range. But heās really good in isolation so he would have high ratings for catch and shoot, shot-off-dribble, and contested shot.
Imo that's a little too complicated. My formulation that I'd like to see is a full departure from ratings on shooting in favor of base percentages. That way you could retain badges as a means to avoid penalties on those base percentages for different shot types (i.e. a difficult shots badge could lessen the normal base percentage penalty for off dribble middies, for instance. Limitless range could do the same for deep 3s). The only problem is it wouldn't fit with the 1-99 rating scale, but that's antiquated anyways
I'd love to see different attributes affect what we can and can't do
Agree, i feel like shooting (and gameplay overall) is too badge dependent, at least for offline players like me. They should base these things on percentage and badges should only be there to boost shooting in certain situations where a player is way more effective than average (like curry's deep threes or derozan's tough mid range fadeaways)
should i buy 2k22 now or should i wait for 2k23?
Wait for 2k23
alr
I'd be completely fine with this as well, but I think there need to be clear lines. I've encountered an argument before that stated that one should be able to shoot 50% on open 3s on a 60 3 point rating in the park. That's just plain bizarre to me. I get that Park is a different beast, but part of sporting those lower ratings means that you're willing to sacrifice the ability to be lights out from 3 in exchange for something else. If you're shooting 50% anyway, there's no reason not to limit yourself in that way, because you don't even have to be mindful about picking your spots. Even a bit more clarity in what certain ratings thresholds mean in shooting would go a long way. 99 means what percentage, exactly? 75? 60? More transparency in those departments could go a long way and would help with the problem that badges tend to "percentage gouge" those initial numbers.
My suggestion would affect stuff like dunking and rebounds more. Doesn't make sense to me that you can have low vertical and still be able to dunk like an acrobat, or that you're slow but can still have enough momentum to jump from afar
If that makes sense
I would for sure agree with that. The response to the particular idea of 50% on open 3s for a 60 is naturally, well how often should a 60 driving dunk get a favorable contact animation? How often should 60 rebounding win a battle down low? I'd assume that the answer to those things is not 50% of the time, so some balance (and transparency) is needed across the board
Perhaps the open 3 chances can be influenced by other shooting attributes like mid range and free throws
Yeah I think that's fair too.
It'd be nice to see stats affect multiple abilities where it makes sense. Like, speed shouldn't affect shooting but it should affect moving dunks
I try to look at how the stats interact live on game too when I think through it. Like with speed you can have dunking without it but speed is what allows you to get beat the defense to the rim. A high dunk wouldn't stop a high strength/defense player from cutting you off or from your movement to the rim triggering an offensive foul.
There's also no box out stat (but probably a tendency in there somewhere). If someone boxes out with a low rebound and they're on the right spot a higher rebound player jumping is over the back. Maybe strength would play a part but I'm not sure at what diff a player could/should be pushing another around when they've planted their feet
There is the Box badge though. Not sure how much it really does
I think of it more of a counter to worm now. Those are both handling things I don't think we have attributes or combinations of attributes for.
yes! Like how strength would allow you to dunk on bigger men, etc
I'm probably overthinking it but I feel like vert would be what would allow dunking on someone. Like one player already being mid air or having more hangtime than the other. In my mind you'd use strength to move that person out of the way or it'd be some anime style power it through the defender whose hand is on the ball.
vert would be height too, no? Different from strength lik ebeing able to plow through defenders at the rim
You might have to elaborate for me not sure if reading this right. My thinking is height doesn't necessarily mean strength. I wouldn't expect to see Bol Bol overpower a Steven Adams. Height might mean you have to jump higher for a dunk maybe. Height and wingspan may mean you shoot with a higher arc for a shot possibly.
which is why I'm saying strength should be important in dunking over an opponent, like how Shaq had the strength and size needed to dunk over defenders
I agree. I'm not saying it's not important. I think that in a sequence of Shaq dunking from post up it would include post control, strength, vert, and standing dunk. Post control and strength for the dropstep getting the defender out the way/out of position then vert, strength, and standing dunk to complete the attempt. Have to do reduction for the contest which I'm assuming is height/wingspan, vert (possibly if it is an aggressive block), and interior defense.
I may be rambling. Just trying to explain how I'm thinking through how many things are/could be at play at once or in a sequence.
does he need high vert when he's tall though?
Game wise there's no vert for some dunk animations but at least 65 for the contact ones and 50 for Shaqs package. My guess is the idea is you have to at least hop and vert is also part of the athleticism that'd be expected to dunk on someone.
Quick google says the standard hoop is 10ft. I guess that means 50 isn't a high vert. I try to assume 70 to 75 is the rating where it's something a player can do/uses regularly. Not consistent but could consider part of their game.
for the animations yeah, but dunking in general should be affected by vert as well, not just animations, yanno?
Yea. I think you can't really get any animation to dunk on someone without vert. Unless maybe their aren't restrictions to adding packages when editing rosters.
but it can affect how you do in game
I'm not sure what you're trying to say. Are you saying you don't think vert is used in determining if a dunk is completed?
it is, I'm thinking though it should be part of contact/contested dunks though?
I think the way it does is by restricting what animations can trigger on offense and if the defender can reach the contest window on defense. Just my guess though. Someone could probably test how much it's weighed in but it'd take a consistent method of pulling of the contact dunk across a lot of attempts.
Just woke up this morning to see that all my work through the year has been taken away with what I could only call a nightmare list of season rewards!! I currently have massed over 4500 park games in which I have enjoyed all year. To see rewards already offered in this seasons rank rewards is just (sigh) to be honest If it was apart of your roll out plan for the year someone needs firing. Why would players who have already achieved level 40 rewards try to do it again this season? In case they missed a reward through the year? Come on! Iām so pissed š¤ Iāve spent over 35000 minutes of my time playing and spent money trying to better my account with end of season rewards to find today that a new player can grab them all and more in one season?! Why would you throw that in your player bases face? Not good team! I actually feel so deflated and Iām thinking about not playing anymore and even so mad Iām not gunna buy 2k23. I will hold out until it becomes free to play and wait for the season of all rewardsā¦. Damn it why did you do this to all your biggest fans?!!
I completely hear what you're saying and the feelings you are expressing are valid; however, this is the last season of the game and we are in mid-August. Leaving a pass up permanently that has all the past rewards probably isn't that big of deal at this point in the game. Something they could have done is to slightly re-color stuff in the pass this season so people who grinded the earlier passes still have a level of exclusivity, but it is what it is.
If thatās the business plan then Iām out⦠no more time and money spent Iām afraid. Iāll settle for game pass free to play šÆ. Iāve been talking to my girlfriends son and he says his mates are all gunna wait until 2k23 is free to play⦠if the business is built on a model of paying for early access only then Iām afraid itās just not going to be enough for me to spend anymore. Iām guessing a lot more people will just wait for game pass editions in the future too. Oh well at least grinding is officially over as the reward is mud in the face.
Dang man, sorry to hear that. I hit level 40 several times as well, so I get where you're coming from. Hopefully you enjoy 2K23 whenever you get your hands on it š
You got to level 40 to use those rewards early. How can you be mad that kids who maybe just got the game get a chance to experience those rewards for 30 days before a new game drops? How does that lessen what you did last October?
You and everyone you know who bought NBA2K make up $0.000000373 of the total revenue VC pulls in. I donāt think your group waiting for it to go free on gamepass is going to change their business model
That's a good point, I didn't think of that. You've had months to enjoy your level 40 rewards, whereas the people who just bought the game will probably have weeks unless they don't plan on getting the new game yet.
Is there a reason Jeremy Lin isn't on the 18-19 Raptors?
Here's another thing for PlayNow online. On 5-minute quarters there shouldn't be 7 timeouts and a 6 foul limit. People cheese wreckless behavior and then play their starters the whole game only to call all their timeouts back-to-back right before the 4th starts so they get their energy back.
This is definitely not the place for that. Try #š¤lfg-instructions to find teammates
thanks
No worries
Brothers, I just beat a cheater in Hall of Fame matchmaking by 20. To make things even better, I was able to green a three-pointer with Ben Simmons to cap it off lmao
When yall play online in mycareer, is the slight delay expected? Iām getting hella slightly early and lates even with a wired controller on series x
I'm mycareer you shouldn't have any latency or delay. That's weird that you're experiencing that
Yeah was mad this morning and in my thoughts discovered that they doing me a favour š I get to spend my cash on other games (which I do anyway) so guess I get to spend it on something other than 2k23 š but wasnāt mad about cash issue more about my grind this year. And still I come to the same conclusion about time šš½ I get more of it for something else. Not trying to change anyones business model either Although I feel it could be way better I canāt say itās bad as they make more bank than I could. ( goes without saying) just venting my frustration at how lack lustre the last season is for a big time and money spender. But now after reflection Iām grateful š thanks 2k brilliant!
@charred geode
Out of interest Doom how many games you reckon you played in this years edition of nba 2k? Park or anything you feel you have accumulated a few hours @dusk vessel
yo is the new season out
It started yesterday
I think there needs to be harsh punishment with quitting.
Thereās no reason you should be quoting with 3 mins left in the 1st quarter when the score is barely 5-10. Or 3-10. Itās really bad in this state and Iām really hoping it doesnāt translate to the next 2k. Itās gotten worse each season and people are way too easily willing to quit before the 1st quarter ends.
Like. Im Ok with quiting. I used to rage quit in cod whenever I got s* on by another player. There wasnāt such a big consequence with quitting as either another person would join or it would be a 4v5 in a game that doesnāt really have consequence for you leaving.
But In rec. itās in a really bad state where people quit off the tiniest misplay.
I hope there is harsher punishment in the next game. Cause as of now. Rec is pretty horrible to play in 22. Hopefully this doesnāt become a issue in 23.
100% agreed and quitting ruins stat averages for players in rec too btw. If a full team leaves really early and you have lets say 5 pts, ur ppg average depletes really badly. Also for some odd reason when you have a full squad in rec and try to find a match, it matches you up against the absolute sweatiest 2k players ever. Like my full squad is good but it isnāt absolutely cheesy where I hide behind screens, do left right cheese, play zone defense, and spam steals.
And in myteam if you quit RIGHT when your opponents starting 5 shows, you do not get the win. 2k really needs to fix that. Also I have had multiple encounters, specifically in myteam, where someone would disconnect or do something to leave the game and I GET THE LOSS.
Why does the CPU keep giving me help defense when I dont ask for it
Does Ronnie have a discord account?
Very unfortunate
I was gonna send him a friend request and complain to him in the dms cuase it would be funny
eModded controller
He has his own discord if I'm not mistaken
Where can I stream?
He does
What do you mean?
Usually in Discord you can stream what youre playing and looking at. I cant do that in the voice channel
Hondo, if you find a cheater, file a ticket. Tagging mods or 2K employees isnāt going to get what you want. Use the proper channels
This isnāt available in this discord
What is it
I did. It doesnt work. They never banned the 30 plus cheaters I flagged earlier
Tagging them here is NOT going to work, promise you
If it's pc don't expect.much
Then what should I do about cheaters?
File a ticket. Keep filing them. Thatās gonna get looked at before a tag will ever
Doesnt work. I filed tickets on 30 cheaters and no disciplinary action was ever taken.
How do you know?
Theyre still playing
How do you know theyāre cheating?
Because 60 overalls dont have 20 ft wingspan and 99 spped
Want screenshots?
Nah
I just want 2K to admit they do nothing to abet cheating on PC or give me a real way to report them so that they take action
We donāt always get what we want.
So you agree that 2K doesnt care about cheaters on PC?
Tell me about itā¦still waiting on some good, homemade BBQ
No I donāt agree. Again, use the proper channels for submitting evidence of cheating
This discord board isnāt it, nor is tagging mods &/or 2K employees in this discord
