I think that they just need to fix rec matchmaking. Remove the lobby that you load into, just have people sit in a queue where you can be matched with anyone else looking for a match in that game mode (solo or squad). That'll make it much easier to put people into their preferred position, and theoretically avoid having the need for AI as often

yeah I agree but they're also not gonna bother adding a "casual" rec mode, because Rec is supposed to be the casual version of Proving Grounds or Pro-Am 5s

The problem is that Proving Grounds and Pro-Am are not rewarding enough in their current state for players to bother playing those, especially given that both of those have less people playing them, meaning it takes longer to find a game than it does to just go to rec and get a game

there was a 4v4 mode in the theater at one point that was pretty interesting, but yeah that's the thing, if it takes too long to find a game in proving grounds, and you're not rewarded enough to care, why bother playing that over Rec

so all the "tryhards" just go play Rec instead

Same problem happens with Park, park is supposed to be the casual mode and proving grounds and pro-am are the competitive modes. But when less people play those, because the rewards aren't enough, everyone just ends up playing park
