This requires just a tiny bit of explaining

So basically, Steven has a shield that can tank a free hit when used defensively(done by holding dodge). But due to the fact that you can tank one free hit you also can use the move offensively very effectively. In the clip I knocked the shaggy offstage(I used the cooldown side b because it's one of the better moves in stevens kit that can sends people at a low-ish angle) and when he up b'd I shielded and it was a true punish into the dair because the game recognizes it as me dodging meaning shaggy is still in endlag. The second piece of tech doesn't have to be used when edgeguarding but is also very helpful in neutral, when playing against super rushdown heavy characters like finn or batman, you can neutral b then shield when they approach and are all but guaranteed a free punish. It also works in niche circumstances like when bugs is making his hole and you can tank the hit of him coming out of the hole and he'll get hit instead. For those wondering, yes the neutral B is a kill move and yes, this is great in doubles because you can hold shield on ledge and when holding shield people can't go through you and your teammate can go for an edgeguard while you block them from coming onstage.

There are a couple of things about this set up that make it unlikely, firstly the positioning required for the dair-bubble makes it very very unlikely to work twice due to DI. And getting the timing for the tether explosion would be tricky too

It also just does less damage than some of his more practical combos
