Technically, Elden Ring is Demon Souls 7 if you consider those crazy fan theories about how all the Fromsoft games are connected, like with Bloodborne's Yharnam actually being a painting much like Ariamis and Ariandel, and the fact Sekiro takes place in the Dark Souls universe, but just in a different land and Dark Souls is the aftermath of the events of Demon Souls and so on and so forth

It only leads to some fan-theories and is never confirmed, besides Miyazaki has 100% moved on from Dark Souls which was the reasoning for the Ringed City dlc in DS3, it was a send-off for the series. Elden Ring is connected, like with every other game in the Soulsborne series, but it is by no means a sequel/prequel

The trilogy takes place on the same world, the other games are entirely 100% separate. Patches and moonlight greatsword are fanservice inclusions that Miyazaki just includes cause he likes them. He’s said this himself

That's like the good & bad thing about making art imo. I always have more of a desire for establishing a concept for my next piece, compared to finishing what I already started. Honestly though what was the thought process behind these guys? Their attacks where they flail their arms at you for a while makes no sense, dodging doesn't work since all the other arms will just roll catch you and shielding rarely works since the endless arms eat up stamina stupidly fast. I swear these guys were designed purely to be cheesed by healing incantations .
