You mean Below Zero? Finishing generally takes 20 hours play time, give or take a few. It all depends on the player, how much help they seek or walkthroughs they watch, doing side quests, exploring, etc.

Break rocks, build tools, scan everything. That’s the basic advice starting out. Explore your immediate area, scan all the fragments you find to build more items. Then explore further away and deeper, you’ll find more interesting things as you explore outwards.

That’s fine for exploring a bit and getting a feel for the game. Keep that save if you want, but start a new one in survival so you can get the trophies.

In the survival save, collect resources on your way to the drop pod. Ribbon plants and copper let you make a battery, that plus a titanium makes a scanner.

Watch your oxygen and surface before it runs out. When you can make rubber you can make fins that let you swim faster, later you can make an oxygen tank for being underwater longer.

Just to clarify game modes: 'freedom' is basically survival without water and food, but still need oxygen and can die of damage and need to unlock blueprints and get materials, and can still get achievements. Creative is the totally open, no damage, no materials required and no achievements.

Trophies take time. The second one may take an hour in the game for, after that more hours for the next one. Full playthrough you’re looking at 20 hours game time or more, depending on how well you’re doing.

@carmine bobcat I don't think the biomes look unfinished, they're definitely not as tall, but that makes them feel more detailed. SN had plenty of barren biomes (Dunes, Crash Zone, a large portion of Bulb Zone, Mountains, Crag Field, Grand Reef, Sea Treader's Path) and biomes were so tall you'd always need a vehicle (Grassy Plateaus is 200m deep, even though the tallest structures are not even that tall)

||Don’t get me wrong. Subnautica 1 also had biomes which (somewhat) felt empty. Like the Lost River and the Lava Lake, however, the original game connected a lot of unique elements to the Lost River which were big editions to the actual story of the game, and the Lava Lakes also connected multiple containment facilities that were necessary to reach.||

||Below Zero just felt like it was making biomes as if it was making levels in a platformer just to make it more challenging to complete||

I guess the BZ biomes aren't as impactful to most players. Lost River has all these fossils, that have cool lore and all. In BZ, the main aspect of the deepest biomes is how they were formed, as there aren't any memorable fossils or anything. I understand people not being interested in it. Also, it seems the map focused more on being pretty instead of scary, as the Chelicerate is not at all comparable to the Reaper

I personally really like the majestic look of the leviathans, instead of the very aggressive designs of Reapers/||Sea Dragons||, but I see people not liking it very much

The short version: ||Sam-your sister- realized that Alterra was trying to get a pure sample of Kharaa. A mega-conglomerate in space getting their hands on a disease so powerful it killed a species of almost-gods, and not giving any real response as to WHY they wanted it was extremely sus, so Sam goes to neutralize their samples they gathered. Shortly after, Sam “mysteriously dies” and Alterra very quickly covers everything up. Robin goes to investigate and that’s where the game starts||

That’s why scientist in real life are extremely careful about studying ancient polar course that they harvest. yes i get that. but imo SN's story telling is much more coherent. even though a lot of people lose sight of what their objective should be. but at the very least, from the beginning to the end, your one objective is to ||get yourself off the planet, and almost everything you're doing is to advance towards that goal, or explaining to you how you ended up in this situation in the first place||

for BZ, we start off by ||being so determined to investigate our sister's death that we're willing to attempt a crash landing onto 4546b during a meteor storm, only to have what happened to her getting pieced together in a few abandoned PDAs that many people don't even read. meeting margurite, helping her "fix" the comms tower and getting invited to her greenhouse is an entirely optional side quest. in fact, we don't even need to find out what happened to sam, all we need to do to complete the game is to have our brain kidnapped, build Al-An his body and elope with him. which is why i feel the story telling in BZ is poorer than SN||
