You have to knife the wild vines to get the seeds. I'm assuming if you plant a seed then you just get the regular fine. You collect the seed clusters, and when planted they grow more of the cluster vines. I've never tried slashing a cluster one to get seeds, so that's what I'm trying to clarify.
