Yeah ya have to play with your own rules in place for repeated runs of the game to keep it fresh.

• Use bases as little as possible /use the seatruck as your main base
• Limited use of the sea truck. Like limit yourself to only having 1 or 2 modules on a truck at a time.
• Mods mods mods
• More mods
• Building your base in a completely different spot. Above the water, on land, much deeper, across the map. Etc.
• Only traveling during the day. (RP the existence of dangerous nocturnal predators)
• Limit yourself to only the basic tools. Scanner, knife, laser cutter, sea glide
• Use only the smallest O2 tanks and use the oxygen pump&tubes to get air where ya need it.
• Solar power only

I hate how we can outrun most of the dangers in this game.

I pretty much ignore everything except chelly's while they're trying to eat me. Just keep swimming an dyou're good. And even then... they only take like 30-50% of your, and the truck's, health away. Ya can tank a hit or two and be fine.

I'm still wondering what subnautica really is... it has building aspects, but its mainly survival with a story, and you build/gather to progress said story?

I wanted to do a creative mode run on Subnautica and just build.. but then I realised that building is quite limited interms of buildings this isn't Terraria or minecraft.

BZ seems to have the same problem, saw a video someone posted about his base in BZ, it looks awesome! but I don't know why one built one so big, since you don't really use it?

The same reason you build big in Minecraft: It looks cool and you can.
Ya don't actually "need" to build larger castles or intricate machines in MC. Ya can, so ya do. It's the same for Sub & BZ. Some people want to have sprawling bases with bedrooms, fabrication sections, storage sections, multiple rooms dedicated to the ships, etc. So they do it. They're alright with running around in bases which are larger than they need to be to beat the game because for them it's not all about beating the game. It looks and feels cool so they do it.

Could the base building be more intricate? Yep. For sure.
Does it need to be? Nope. Not at all.

This is something I've always struggled with in this types of games, I for some reason seem to suck at building... I had to learn how to do it by watching videos just for Minecraft or Terraria And I still struggle.. mainly the resource gathering Its fun but having to constantly gather materials for a simple building takes the fun out of it quickly.

As for the game it self I'm one of those people that either get board to fast... or just want to sink in hundreds of hours into 1 game for a while. usually most games are fine, but games of this Genre I really seem to struggle with... I always seem to be at a lost if I don't know what to do next..

Yes that's true minecraft of cause gives you total freedom since you can destroy or shape said mountain to you liking, SN and BZ you can't terraform so you can't place your multipurpose room like in side the ice or something.

I know the game is SURVIVAL but the building resource drain is quite tedious, collecting materials can be very fun if done right, (Terraria, Minecraft) but other times it gets painful or out right annoying Subnautica's case is how the materials are found/spread out, you don't have access to large deposits from the get go, so you got to break outcrops one by one till you get enough or just find them laying around.

They didn't realize that their "ugly" creations are just as awesome as the big complicated builds and the game isn't about competing with other people in the "look at how crazy my thing is" competition.

Some of them quit, some stuck it out. The ones who stuck it out either became better or they accepted their limitations and got over it and just had fun.

You can always carry 2 tanks until getting the better blueprint. Hell, I normally carry 2 until crafting an Ultra high capacity tank, but I use an o2 mod which makes that more necessary.

Easycraft has the fabricators pull from all nearby storage containers when you carft stuff. Set it to either pull from containers inside the same base, or any within 100m. It'll craft prerequisite components too so you don't need to craft all the steps for the final peice. Just click it and you'll get the final item.

It’s good, but too good. I’ve used it for a long time and it completely removes a part of the game. Sorting your storage and caring about what goes where.

Cause I could literally put anything anywhere and not care.

You don't even need to be able to build anything to go there. All you really need is an extra oxygen tank. I went there first thing without even building a scanner in my most recent attempt at a playthrough (I Just keep picking up other games and pushing this one to the side)
