The most optimal shape for pressurization is a Sphere or Cylinder, Which is Why i like the look of subnautica 1's base pieces. HOWEVER, I love the idea of having more customizable bases

so if the corners would get rounded a bit more, I would be perfectly happy with SN2's base building

Idk if you noticed, but when you are in your base or a vehicle close to the glowing part of the tree, the glow propagates to the structure. It gives some nice visual effects.

Not my main base but this is an observatory I just finished making for a ||Sea Emperor|| and bonus 2 Reapers that also like to swim around the windows sometimes (despite them not being in the pictures, I can hear them in the distance always!)

Yes, they grow bigger after being released and have a few different spawns on the map, I only play vanilla so I can assure you this is base game

Be warned that there are 2 Reapers that also like circling the spot I built on, which is nice for me since I dismantled my last Reaper observatory at the QEP to make this one

You can use more than one scanner room simultaneously so you can keep an eye on the reapers. I think you can also scan for the emperor as well? I haven't been able to try it out yet

If you can, you can use one scanner for reapers and the other for emperor

This being a more recent save file I had the idea to build my main base in the Safe Shallows; which I don't typically do, but I found out around the time I made the save that you can build above water there so I did

I just use beacons to mark everything, if there are too many on my screen I toggle them off when they aren't needed, I also sometimes use creep vine cluster vines for a sort of signal flair sometimes too

What I mean is the scanner room yellow circle thing made from the HUD, put if range it disappears, in range it reappears. Having multiple scanner rooms from different bases active makes it easy to keep an eye out for the reapers and stuff around each base to safely move around

OH, yeah I always make sure to just stop scanning whenever I am not using it, I always run 3 area boosts and one scan speed boosts so the mess of circles on my screen can be annoying when loading a biome, also Reapers make me laugh when they grab at me

If I was afraid of Reapers I'd still be wearing the reinforced dive suit, switched to the stillsuit because I kept dehydrating while building lol

When you have the thermoblade though it's not hard to just chase a few fish and turn em into sashimi and get a tiny bit of water from that, also I tend to plant some kind of nutritious plant in every base I make too

I'd be more prepared if I used my Cyclops more too, but I typically use it for the first trip out to haul a ton of stuff to make a base, then just use the seamoth to get to and from that build after I return my Cyclops to safety

Fair enough, I'm a stickler for vanilla and somewhat like the challenges imposed by the game's building system since it makes me consider different ways I can build or manage power

Also my PC is kind of an antique so I don't like to push it too hard on certain things lol

I typically only make 1 mega base then smaller bases around, but I've started adding moonpools to all of my bases so I've had to compensate for the power drain of that and having water purifiers

So usually nuclear/solar bases, but I'm looking to experiment with other reactors too

Not enough to block the door way mind you, but enough that I can see the head board of the single bed poking out from the left of the door way

That's something I look foward to about Subnautica 2's beds, they don't have a head board that will get in the way when I'm building

Like I'll just make shelves or a table for my trinkets (assuming there will be place-able trinkets in Subnautica 2)

I added an observatory onto it so I could stare at the Aurora, this was the first time I made a build above water using one of the higher spots in the Safe Shallows and I like how it all came together

Even has a farm for all of the above ground crops and flowers too

That's pretty nice, I find a good above water spot can be a nice change of scenery

When I found out placing hatches above water makes them bulkheads with a little porch and stairs, I had to play around with it a bit until I got it how I wanted, but I'm happy with it now

My Dunes observatory is now finished! I could've built a bit closer to the ||Sea Emperor's|| patrol path but all of the leviathans in the area still swim up to the base, so I'll stick to where I've built it at lol

Also where it's been built gives the scanner room such range that it also picks up the Sea Treaders too lol

Update on the Grand Reef observatory I just finished making; after completing the build it appears the ||Sea Emperor|| has despawned or been deleted from the biome? Apparently this is a known bug online but nonetheless a huge disappointment since I gave it ample room to move above the base. On a brighter note I found it cool that my scanner room had the entirety of the Floating Island displayed in it!

Tomorrow I will be completing my observatory builds with the final one being in the Crag Field, hopefully I'll have better luck than I did at keeping the ||Sea Emperor|| in the biome, which this would make it the second time it's happened on this save, as the ||Sea Emperor|| at my Northern Blood Kelp observatory also despawned

Thank you, I initially planned to go more vertical, but I made a mistake when building the 2nd ladder to the observatory; basically I wanted 2 MPR stack in the middle, but the ladder blocked the path that ended up becoming where I made the sleeping quarters (being the MPR with the glass roof)

I made one in the Mountains right below the ||Sea Emperor|| and it never despawned so it's really just random at the rate it decided they're too close, I especially believe this because I made the Grand Reef observatory with the same amount of space from the ||Sea Emperor|| than the one I made in the Mountains

My observatory in the Northern Blood Kelp actually had twice the distance from it as the last 2 I made and it despawned it anyways so honestly I've given up on even bothering with it, the fact it can despawn at all is just silly to me, like if it's going to swim into your base it should be a no brainer to just make a lower base then? But since it seemingly doesn't matter by the game's standards I really just don't see the point now

I just placed storage lockers shoulder to shoulder all the way around my square room and labeled the resource in each locker in alphabetical order. Made it easy to get the correct locker faster and all the crafting machines were placed in the center of the room like a production island.

I placed an interior wall partition in the center for the wall mounted fabricator and battery chargers as well.

I like the seatreders cave in the seatreders Path biome because there are a lot of different liviathans nearby but ur base is safe

I suppose. That's why I stock up on Titanium before leaving shallows in my Cyclops then get more deeper down. But Sea Treaders do provide the outcrops with diamond, gold, and lithium so that's a huge plus side

I still use the stillsuit more since I don't always pack enough water with me and reapers are easy to out maneuver (since they turn like crash fish, which is to say terribly) but it still is really helpful if you want to be on the safe side of not being eaten

The Dunes also have tons of titanium and quartz so it's really nice imo to have at least a scanner outpost there for material acquisition

Dunes is more quartz and not a lot of titanium, the crash site on the other hand is more titanium and not a lot of quartz

Easy way to show something like this in birds eye view is swim very high up then start swimming down. Then take a picture once your character's hands are out of the way. At least, that's my strategy
