It attacks if it sees you. you can swim past the area it guards if you swim on the surface. YOu can also drive there with tadpole, and it will never catch you if you are at the surface. I back this up with personal experience.

Big poast about what I think is great about this game and what I'd like devs to actually keep, because there hasn't been much discussion about that:

The story right now is amazing, I hope it isn't reworked. It's a little scattered and confusing like the BZ story was (probably just skill issue on my part), but that's a minor issue. The themes, content, and worldbuilding at play in each message has set up a really compelling mystery.

The scientific side of worldbuilding is immaculate. The lack of true plant life in an energy-rich ecosystem is a bold and entirely plausible choice. I was absolutely not expecting amino acid chirality, energy expenditure of desalination, and use of more exotic biochemistries like polymer connective tissue and heavy metal concentrations to just be mentioned in the PDA entries.

The world design is also spectacular. My big complaint is that the biodiversity noticeably drops off for biomes outside the starting one, but that'll be addressed with EA over time.

i liked the way subnautica 1 handled killing, you’re not really supposed to kill huge creatures but if you dedicate a crazy long time to slashing at a reaper + a stasis rifle, you are able to. Right now i find it a little immersion breaking that i can’t at least hurt anything with the clearly sharp edge of my multitool, even if i’m not going out of my way to do so. plus running into something witb your tadpole should kill something imo

Honestly, what would a gaming contract contain that would be important enough for me to actually read? Most gaming contracts are practically just copy-pastas, so you expect to see the exact same things across the board when it comes to games.

There is a reason laws exist governing how contracts work, specifically to prevent companies from abusing their agreements, knowing full well that the vast majority of people won't bother reading them.

There is a difference between stating that no one "owns" the game because it involves factors beyond the company's own control, such as the game being removed from a platform due to a platform-specific event, or the inability to keep the game operational due to natural causes, and it being a matter directly within the company's control, as stipulated in the contract, wherein Krafton retains total control over the game, that's not natural.

If a contract contains any abusive clauses, it is never the consumer's fault.

Well, I screwed up my tadpole. I docked it with the stingray chassis attached, and made the mistake of crafting the Haul chassis. It crafted fine, but now the tadpole can’t undock because the other chassis is in the way. And you cannot move it by hand!

No amount of pushing anywhere will budge it at all. I was able to move the Cyclops in the first game by hand!

Hi, I don't know about here but on Reddit I've been seeing a lot of complaints about the little creatures being annoying and not being able to kill them. Since the goal seems to be coexistence and non-killing, I wonder if there could be bigger fish that can be tamed somehow that would scare off the small-medium nibblers and biters. Could be fun if a wide variety of fish could be tamed (never Leviathans though) and if each had its own requirements and preferences so that you had to explore and try different things and could get a wide variety of pets, while simultaneously providing a new deterrence method for the more annoying hostiles.

While this may be fixed in early access, I'm not sure it will as that would devalue the collector's biome if you can just go around it. Afaik the save files should be safe as long as mods arent in use and you dont spawn anything previously w/ a cheat for ex that is outright removed from the games data

-> Mods can change world gen and behavior, corrupting it if stored in the .sav
-> Same can be said of not-implemented items, if placed the game will fail to load any .sav that contains them (assuming the devs dont add a sane fallback, tbd really but best to avoid)

If you play the game vanilla + dont cheat, you should be fine (But again, time will tell 🤣 )

||initially, a group of colonists were awoken to survey the planet and build bases, I think they were specifically picked for their skills. They survived for a long time, well over a year and then they all died due to masefield/bloom. After the final biosignature was lost, NoA got access to a specialist, the QA. You are awoken to find out what happened and fix it. My guess is that the game takes place immediately after Sophie confronts Nahema at the tree||

Most of the EULA has been industry standard for years minus the Modding ones; things like "We reserve the right to collect your data" and it lists PII like your license and stuff are only listed for countries like China that require online games collect this information in the event the government requests it. If you don't get explicitly asked, most of the data they grab from your device is the same any other game can and typically does (Cause its legally required in some countries)

All that changed is people now feed EULA through AI and go "Is this stealing my data" 🤣
