IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON VIDEO DRIVERS

We will be actively rolling out GPU & DLSS improvements in our planned hotfix updates post-launch, but below are some Day One items that we are currently aware of.

AMD Driver Rollback
If you have an AMD 9000 series GPU with the latest driver 26.5.1 and are crashing on game launch, AMD recommends that you roll back your driver to 26.3.1. They are working on a fix. You will need to manually download the previous driver from amd.com.

  • Install the previous driver version
  • Restart your PC
  • Launch the game again

NVIDIA Driver 576.88
There are known crash issues with an old NVIDIA driver (576.88). For Subnautica 2, we officially support NVIDIA drivers 595.71 and higher. Please ensure you update to a newer driver from nvidia.com.

NVIDIA DLSS
We have seen some rare cases of performance issues or crashes that are DLSS-related. We will be rolling out fixes in our upcoming updates. If you have updated drivers and are still having GPU-related issues, first try turning off DLSS or lowering the game settings to Low to see if that resolves the issue.

DIRECTX 12 (DX12) ISSUES

We have received several reports regarding DirectX 12 causing an error DirectX 12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line argument. on start-up of Subnautica 2.

We have identified two possible causes of the error.

1. Your machine does not meet the minimum specifications for Subnautica 2.

2. Windows is defaulting to your onboard graphics instead of dedicated graphics. We have a support article to help you change your settings and force the game to use your dedicated graphics: https://support.subnautica.com/hc/en-us/articles/57927498056729-How-to-Force-the-Game-to-Use-Your-Dedicated-GPU-Windows-11

IMPORTANT INFO FOR WINDOWS 10 USERS

If you are running Subnautica 2 on Windows 10, you must do BOTH of the following steps in order to run the game successfully.

1. Update Windows 10 to Version 22H2 (Build 19045)
2. Update Graphics Card (GPU) Drivers to the latest available version.

Updating only Windows OR only the GPU driver may not resolve the issue and older GPU drivers may be missing required DirectX 12 files needed to launch the game.

To check your Windows version:

  1. Press Windows Key + R
  2. Type winver
  3. Press enter

If your version is below Windows 10 Version 22H2 (Build 19045), please update Windows before launching the game.
