over time it will get more optimized, so your framerate will likely become more stable. you can always lower your resolution to 720p or you could use performance mods. theres also the option of refunding if you bought on steam and have less than 2 hours playtime

The biggest issue with the games optimization is that the fog is extremely expensive
At epic rendering the fog takes more time than lumen and shadows combined
Fog quality scales with the 'effects' quality however the devs also set an absurdly high render distance on it which that setting doesnt change

The yapping density certainly needs adjustement because sometimes it feels like you get a gigantic amount of information thrown at you

People have done comparisons and the player does move significantly slower than they did in SN1 but everything is scaled in such a way to make the area we cover more dense and meaningful, which means there's a lot less dead and empty space.

The map is smaller by volume, but it's also effectively bigger in feel and impact because of this.

The devs actually created a bunch of custom rendering aditions btw
They changed UE5s main shadow system (VSM) they added a denoiser for volumetric fog (costs a bit of performance but does reduce flickering) and some stuff for light shafts
Most devs dont do anything like this

Exactly what I'm thinking, like atleast pick up some biomods by exploring so that it's not just blueprints and voicelogs. You also slowly adapt more and more as you explore, taking in the game's environment.

I also had the idea for having to manually jailbreak your devices, like using the repair kit to solder a wiring kit or a chip onto the fabricator to enable it's jailbreak, letting you craft forbidden tools like the bioscanner and create jail broken variants of tools (Faster wavemaker, more buildings in the habitat builder)

Well, the modification station is kinda the jailbroken fabricator in a sense? And the modification station is what we use to upgrade the fins and presumably things like the wakemaker later on. though technically the fabricators we use are already jailbroken which is interesting.

Yeah some of the voices really sound very alike and its hard to follow who's who, but I think that's also because most of the time you can't really listen and read the text since you might be drowning when you just stare at the text when they talk.

Also re-reading it is a little hard since there's so much info in your PDA and if you don't have every tap open you can't see where something new was added but if you've got all of them open you gotta search for quite a while...

what if, and hear me out on this one, we got a subnautica game where we got to play as an alterra researcher going back to 4546b to explore the void. we go down 2000+ metres just to explore the alien life that we cant see from the surface or surface level biomes. then BAM. something attacks our main research facility and we're stranded in this super deep expansive place with nothing but an oxygen generator and some basic tools like the habitat builder and scanner and a flashlight built onto our chest. i feel like it'd be incredible to see what kind of deep ocean life unknown worlds could come up with and i feel like this game would be incredible, even if it's just a short spinoff title. Did some testing because someone was doubting it, but you are indeed slower overall in subnautica 2.

I tested many movement options in a 50m sprint and found out that using both the wakemaker and the best fins possible, you're only slightly faster than the base swimming speed in s1.
The tadpole and seamoth are similar, but ultimately the tadpole is slower even with the scout chassis.

I've been dealing with the "Cannot deconstruct" bug the entire time I've been playing. Most of the time I can just disconnect which ever part I'm having issues with and then use the refund base menu. This time however it's a growbed that I can't deconstruct. Is there any known fix? I haven't been able to find anything about it online.
