Ok Subnauts, last update on Zerzura, the historical/mythical inspiration for Zezura, the desert planet we are not playing on in Subnautica 2. I have been able to track down the earliest known written mention of Zerzura. The source for this is Abū ‘Uthmān al-Nābulusī’s Villages of the Fayyum, a registry of rural settlement in Egypt's Fayyum region dating to the middle of the 13th century A.D. Unlike the previously mentioned Kitab al Kanuz, this is not a mythical treasure-hunting book written or assembled by an unknown author (or authors), but rather a matter-of-fact collection for taxation and administrative purposes written by a credible source who knew the country well. Speaking from experience, both are accurate, but its somewhat dependant on water type and quality, as well as depth.

Clean bays, lakes, and oceans are much clearer, and it gets "foggier" in the deeper water.

except its never necessary. I hate to say it but if you want to kill things and are dissapointed you can no longer kill things in subnautica. You likely dont like subnautica or what its trying to convey in its narrative at least. Bart Torgals of the Degassi's story was all about condemning the unnecessary killing of foreign alien creatures (of which home you are invading and throwing off the natural life cycle of) and finding beauty in everything. Even in the things trying to kill you. It s a message the game tries to get across.

Your survival will never be dependent on having to kill a creature. And I think its fun finding ways to detour or get rid of threats without bringing harm to them because you have to be more creative about it. There is just as much fun to found in that as there is in killing something.
