when youre getting radio signals (which i believe you get every few days) spend some time swimming around and finding wrecks. When youve basically done everything in the lifepod and you have a habitat builder, try to find an open area with some resources you need and make a base. Then everything will kinda speed up.

If youre able to go over there i think you should. my base right now is nearby the crashed ship in the forest by it which has some good rocks that drop diamonds and stuff. If you need to go over there you should just go since after you get what you need in the lifepod youre free to go over there.

Try looking in different biomes to find the fragments for it. Different biomes have different fragments and i remember getting it pretty early so its probably not too far from spawn
