Unfortunately, it's just how the Play Store works. It'll only show the price on the release day. And it will be the same as the pre-order price, which is $8.99. And then go up to $9.99 later.
So it will still be paid on the playstore, but you're essentially getting a notification from them whenever the game is about to release. From that moment on you can purchase the game with the discount for the day.
