Basically you're like an undercover cop. Your job is to rat out the ducks by looking like one of them to them

Other ducks think you're a duck, but you think everyone is a goose.

One good strategy for mimic is to gain the trust of a duck (hard, I understand) and hope they kill one of their own, thinking them the mole, then you can out them to everyone.

I tend to not rat out ducks until I find out at least 2. This also is to hope that they kill a teammate thinking they are the real mimic.

In the event an assassin may be in the game, I try to make sure at least one player I trust is a goose knows who to be suspicious of.

I just use my normal duck strat of not saying anything useful

I also tend to try and see who’s being too nice to me, most of the time it’s a duck trying to double up.

Another good mimic tip is to vote for yourself often. If a spy checks you, you are not living for long.

As for the inverse, if a duck is talking too much, they’re always either good at the game, or a mimic.

If a duck is hesitant to double up, there’s a good chance they’re a mimic.

Finally, if a duck seems too invested in doing “tasks”, or is unwilling to do sabo task, it’s a safe bet they’re a mimic.

Final note, a mimic shouldn’t always be your priority target. As long as you know who they are, they’re just a plain goose role. While it’s tempting to assassinate a found mimic (and maybe a good strategy if the lobby knows there’s an assassin) there are more dangerous roles. Mimic is incredibly powerful, but only if you don’t know who it is (or as y’all have pointed out, are confidently incorrect)
