Opposite, I think. We were at 100,000 a few weeks ago and are steady at 111k (nearly 112k) right now.

Latency might be an issue, but it hasn't been a problem for other MMOs, so I think we're good on that. I think DMCA doesn't apply to renditions - I haven't heard of anyone getting in trouble for streaming/recording Mordhau/Guild Wars whenever somebody would play an instrument there

It's a thin line, people have gotten their whole videos demonetized because there's a 2 second part of a song in there

It's not so much an issue for people just playing the game

And I agree it's already been done, FFXIV does it, but I gotta say it's more annoying than anything xD

I hope there won't be celebration of IRL events like Thanks Giving, Halloween or Valentines day in Palia. Also not some placeholder events that is clearly the IRL celebration, just called something else in-game. Almost every game I know does this and I'm kind of getting really tired of it. IMO it would be way more fun to see some Palian Holliday events that differ from those we have IRL.

I'm not trying to ruin anyone's day. I just find it kind of immersion breaking when games does this.

Just to clarify. I don't have anything against IRL celebrations or Holidays.
But imagine if we had Palian only Holliday's. Celebrations that only those who play Palia knows about. I imagine it could strengthen the community even more 🙂

We're of the mind that we want to game to be inclusive of all cultures, and in our off-world social channels, acknowledge "real world" holidays. However, some of the concepts transfer over.

"Giving thanks for life & the bounty of a harvest" is certainly one way to translate Thanksgiving to...basically any world.

I too believe we will see remade holidays, similar to a pattern as seen in World of Warcraft. In that game, one of my favorite seasonal event is the Winter's Veil event which celebrates the best parts of the winter holidays that we celebrate in real life. I am hoping for a similar approach to Palia.

At this time we have been getting weekly updates teasing new concepts and rendered game structures, mostly focused around the starting village area. Just yesterday we got to listen to the full BGM theme for the village area as well. All of this you can check out in #🌠│official-art.

If you are interested in playtesting, know that the Alpha testing phase is planned to begin sometime around the first half of 2022 (according a response in #❓│old-team-answers-alpha). If you have not already, head to Palia.com and enter your email and complete the brief survey that follows to have a chance to get into Alpha testing.

I think holidays should definitely be unique to fit the setting, and it's okay if they coincide with real world holiday seasons (hopefully they'd last for more than one day as an event..) And perhaps some holidays could happen at other times (I.e. I'd feel weird if the holidays / festive times coincided only with a specific Western culture's calendar).

Some real world holidays are rooted in deeply problematic historical events so I'd doubt they would actually mirror big holidays that you see in Animal Crossing NH (for example), and given mass globalization, it is unlikely that every player worldwide would be in the midst of a holiday celebration.

To expand on all this, for when the events do line up with the real world, I can see some folks finding real reprieve/respite in being able to slip into Palia and celebrate with their community in game. Given that the holidays can be very difficult times for some folks for one reason or another. At least, I know I'd appreciate being able to do so.

When players visit, there are several activities that you can engage in together. This includes cooking, in which players can pull from the game’s many recipes to make meals. The process is very collaborative, as friends can aid you in cooking (which is accomplished through minigames) or in designing your home (using over 1000 decor items). One really interesting tidbit that I learned during my preview with Palia is that even when a player is offline, friends will be able to visit their home.

As a comparison, I waited four years for a sequel to a game I loved when the sequel was first announced. The wait was relatively worth it, though the sequel didn't pan out as much as I hoped. I think the trick is to stay occupied with other things that make me happy.

my first question is about Chapaa and Chuu (I have no Idea what they are)

cause i cant pick a side if i dont understand them XD

They are the same thing. Chapaa is their name. Chuu is what we called them before knowing their name
