well we don't know the name of the ray creature so hard to say .. with Chapaa, Sernuk and possibly Ormuu as names of creature types the name itself might not be a factor but more what creatures we have match the mannerisms they want the Palia creature to have ( in the example of Chapaa where we can see the different animals that inspired it )

around me we have mostly grey squirrels, red squirrels, and chipmunks. grey squirrels leave tracks greater than 1.25 inches, red squirrels are between 1-1.125 inches, and chipmunks are less than 1 in (all fully grown)

the thing with nature is I see a sort of formula for the way different mammals are, and there's a lot of overlap

now here's something to think about... DUCKS can fly and survive in water and on land. they are so powerful they can't be contained by any normal rules

2 of my earliest memories from wow are a max level druid carrying me around mulgore helping me quest, and the first time I saw the view from the top of the plateau over Bloodhoof village. i'm excited for more experiences like that in Palia, since those types of experiences seem to be prioritized more

I would hope if anything we can go so far out into the water .. maybe walk barefoot for a short distance before maybe cold water perhaps causes your character to run out of the water because it is too cold .. but that might not be true geometry .. so swimming may be a thing but maybe a distance limit .. exhaustion from swimming too long maybe ? But then that goes against the no energy statement .. Hopefully we will be told more when the information is safe to share.

It's also handy to know how you personally play games .. I find personally I play a game almost constantly when it first comes out and then slowly it phases out to become a game I rarely play or one I play a few minutes/hours a day depending on what can be done. So whilst I am excited about a game that sounds like what I want ... I know from experience that whilst it can be a great game, it won't necessarily be one I play constantly after 6 months or a year. But if its a game I come back to regularly years later, I class it as a good game.

Yeah, Alpha testing would be good. But .. to put the chance into perspective. Pre Alpha was 1400 spots out of a crowd of 80k or so people. Most of us didn't get a look see. Alpha, will have many more than before but with over 110k people interested in the game, even 10k spots is still a puddle in that ocean of people.

pre alpha finished a while back. alpha is scheduled for sometime in the first half of next year ... make sure you register for testing on the website if you haven't and fill in the survey. Then it is wait and cross your fingers that you win a tester spot. They are limited, but we don't know how many spots there will be yet, just know it will be more than the 1400 in pre alpha. But there are currently over 110k people interested in the game. So, good luck to all of us. 🤞

Perhaps I missed the questions but will there be any FOMO mechanics in the game? I.e. One time events where if you dont do it the item/reward will be gone forever. Asking because I like to gather and collect, but I distaste being forced to a certain timeframe

Seeing as their premise that you can play as little or as much as you want and choose your level of participation in any area, that there won’t be anything you have to do to play the game. They did mention certain times for certain fish but that would be something where you can do it regularly rather than once off. But no, I don’t think once only rewards will exist.

That said. With the narrative evolving over time, if there are certain quests/tasks relevant to that stage in the narrative time flow (we don’t know how the narrative will flow for different people) then there is a chance that you will miss out on a part of the story. Whether that will mean a reward will be lost that you don’t get in another task/quest is of course a good question. Missing a part of the narrative is a question I put forward this month for #❓│old-team-answers-alpha. So hopefully it will be one of the answers they give at the end of the month.

And, if the only events in the game are community events created by the players, will mean the reward system is likely out of the control of the devs. Any rewards in those instances are likely player created items so thus able to be created again. But, if you remember this when #851872239435644928 channel is open again for next months questions, you might want to ask that question directly to them.

But, hopefully, if there are unique rewards for completing a once only end of narrative chapter event (assuming this exists) then they will think of a way for players that missed it could get that reward again or everyone gets the reward regardless of whether they took part or not (theoretical consideration on my part). Will amend my suggestion regarding catch up mechanics on missed narrative to include any potential rewards for completing them.

If you mean in game, we haven't been provided that answer by the devs in here or on twitter that I can see but seeing as most people usually use apps like discord to talk while playing with their friends they may not feel the need to. But there is this response in #❓│old-team-answers-pre-alpha [S6] BuscoBear — 06/03/2021 Much of the open world activities do not explicitly require a party. Parties make certain things easier but you can still play most of the game just hanging out on voice which could just mean an external voice app.

And this was in a post regarding a preview event of the game. But could just be their interpretation of what was said as they are the only site I found that mentioned it.
