Puzzle Pirates was my favourite game for a long long time.

It was somewhat P2W on the free servers; but the subscriber side was not. The difference was you could spend real cash on in-game dubloons to exchange into pieces of eight to buy big ships, crew members, cannonballs, etc.

Or lose it all in poker.. like some of us unlucky pirates.

I never really saw much PVP... it was also about doing stuff like Atlantis, Cursed Islands, etc....

The story is evolving but you can play as little or as much as you want. Whether the story evolves far enough that you miss part of the story I don't know if it is something you can go back to .. So, it is a good question to ask. I'll make a note and post it when the questions come up again next month.

You have your cosmetic outfits, of which we already have a dazzling variety. You also have your tools, like pickaxe, fishing rod, butterfly net. These have quality tiers, but you only have one at a time, e.g. a higher-quality axe replaces the lower-tier one, you're not juggling both. There's a huge variety of harvestable and gatherable and craftable items that you can have in your inventory. Tools specifically, we do want it to be as easy and seamless as possible so you're not constantly swapping items and switching to inventory management after every activity.

i played ffxiv a few times. i tried all the beginner classes but i didnt like it because i didnt like the skills / spells and the mechanic behind the thaumterge

for water / ice spells there was nothing really cool and most of it was AOE from player

and thats when i stopped playing it

the thing that makes new world UNFUN for me is the compass, the broken mechanic of "detecting" things nearby like you detect animals 100m away but ores only like 10m away when its in front of you. doesnt make sense to me
