What killed TF2 was lack of creativity from Valve when it comes to dealing with problems. They caused so much damage by introducing F2P, whole economy dropped like anvil. God damn it, I remember key going for 2.00 ref, not 60 REF, wtf! and buds being a currency, not a relic of the past!
they removed community servers, which were the most hardcore places to play
trading bots removed human aspect of the trading.

Palia will definitely work F2P. Since there's no competitiveness in it, you can't pay to win. And since the primary driver of the game will be aesthetics, having cosmetics you can buy will be a good driver.
