All good options depending on your interests at the time you choose to write.

Those are a lot of fun too. Sometimes I'll make a character with an NPC-sounding name in a game and do silly one-line RP with random players I find while doing content. Just adds flavor to the world even if all you're doing is handing out cheeseburgers.

I find RP to be an interesting way to explore a setting's lore more deeply, but also just as a way to explore different sorts of people, cultures, and perspectives. For example, if I want to learn more about shyness and what makes it tick, I'll create a shy character, read up a bit on it, and see how that character is received and/or evolves over time.
